Morales remains hot in Angels' defeat - angelsbaseball.com
Extending his hitting streak to a career-high 17 games, Morales hammered his 17th homer in the second, tying injured Torii Hunter for the club lead. The opposite-field shot bounced off a TV camera in left. It was upheld by replay.
Angels' talks with potential free agents will have to wait - Los Angeles Times
The Angels do not plan to negotiate with their seven potential free agents before the end of the season, increasing the likelihood that the club will have to compete with offers from other clubs if it wishes to retain any of those players. "It's unlikely we'd do anything during this time period," General Manager Tony Reagins said Friday. "We don't want it to be a distraction. We want to focus on trying to win."

Arredondo to rejoin Halos' bullpen soon - angelsbaseball.com
Late-game bullpen help could be on the way for the Angels in a familiar form. Jose Arredondo might be ready to put himself back in position to fulfill one of the setup roles in front of closer Brian Fuentes.
"Arredondo had what we heard was the best stuff he's had this year -- 94 [mph], good slider, good split," Scioscia said. "He had real good stuff. It looked like Jose took a step forward. That's encouraging."
Team Reports - MLB at CBSSports.com
SS Erick Aybar left Friday's game in the fourth inning with dizziness. Aybar appeared to be kicked or kneed in the head by A's SS Orlando Cabrera as Aybar slid into second base and tried to break up a double play. Before leaving the game, Aybar extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single. He has hits in 14 of his past 16 games and 15 hits in his past 25 at-bats, raising his average for the season to .302.
rallymonkeys: Loux eager to pitch in
Angels manager Mike Scioscia hasn't committed to a starter for Monday night's series opener in Kansas City, identifying as candidates Matt Palmer, Sean O'Sullivan and Shane Loux.
Torii's Storiis: Shooting for a ring -- and a trip to D.C.
Now I have a double goal: win the World Series and go to the White House with my team and meet the President there. We could talk some hoops, maybe play "horse," shoot around a little. I know basketball is his game, and I could play the game in my time. To be there with my teammates, after winning a World Series, that would top meeting Barack Obama at the All-Star Game. That would be so cool, for all of us. So I'm looking at it as an added incentive to go out and win a World Series. That would be the best of both worlds. We win the World Series, and meet Barack Obama at the White House.

Poll Question
There aren’t any free agents worth signing right now (save your comments Pedro Martinez apologists), so this has to imply the offseason free agent class.
The correct answer to this question lies somewhere in the middle of:
1. Yes we need a starter because of how Santana and Saunders have pitched/are pitching. And Lackey for that matter. Here’s hoping along with all of you that Lackey and Santana continue their upwards trends. But Saunders has been a disaster as of late.
2. Bullpen help is needed. Sometimes the best solution is addition by subtraction. A subtraction of Justin Speier would be a good place to start.
3. DFA Speier, Quinlan and GMJ. Either way, barring a miracle trade, the organization is going to have to eat GMJ’s contract…why not release him along with Q and make more playing time for Brandon Wood?

Arredondo has a 2.00 ERA in Salt Lake
Time for a total recall.

DFA is Here!
Great argument HK47. By the way, I hope Woody DH’s today and I too agree that Speier has worn out his welcom ala Hector Carrasco-both train wrecks!

+1: News aggregation is the tops.
It’s what makes the site stand out, I think. If you get all the daily news in one place, no reason to go anywhere else. I go to 6-4-2 to for the minor league roundups, and then here for the Halosphere news.
