Arte Moreno has stopped living in hotels in SoCal and has dropped $12 Million+ on a Corona Del Mar mansion on the harbor.
A close friend of Arte's made it clear to me that our fearless leader was waiting until the City of Anaheim lawsuit was dead and gone before making this move. So what Arte lost in the lawsuit he made up for in housing prices eroding during the recession. Talk about win-win...
Tour Arte's PAD while the Real Estate Listing is still up.
By the way - it is on a private, gated street.

I think I'm in love.
With a house.
I guess this is pretty good assurance that he doesn’t plan to take the Angels far once he has the freedom to do so. Who could leave that place?

What a dump (joking).
Not joking: Why not Linda Isle or Harbor Isle if you are going to go NB bayfront?
Downing Rules - July 14, 2009
bigger lot and dock space

Sweet Property!
Further proof of Arte’s shrewd business philosphy. By the way, the lot of inept Anaheim politicians should be remorseful of their actions.
Go Angels!

This is the first I'm hearing
That Arte and I are now neighbors! Sweet!
Yeah, right.
ReggieBullits - July 14, 2009
Well, there goes the neighborhood.

Is this like the story from “I Love You, Man?” Are you the guy that crashes high end open houses looking for cougars? :)

Gorgeous house.
I’ll take two.

Buying Low
Arte bought the Angels at a relative bargain, and has seen the franchise value appreciate significantly since then. Perhaps this is a sign that the real estate market has bottomed out, too. Whatever costs $12 million today was probably $15 million two years ago.
jjackflash - July 14, 2009
I'm in escrow right now...
and I feel like a genius. If the market is good for Arte then I figure it’s good for me.
Nashdiesel - July 14, 2009
That mansion looks fit for a future Governor of California.
44FAN - July 14, 2009
When's Arte
going to invite us over for a sleepover?
eyespy - July 14, 2009
At the risk of getting smacked by Rev,
I think you meant “peek”.
opiejeanne - July 14, 2009
good catch
the best part is how that has been a headline on YAHOO SPORTS driving traffic here for two hours now with that typo!
Rev Halofan - July 14, 2009
That's kind of funny.
Misspellings either make me laugh or get under my skin more than they should (ex-English major). “Peak” instead of “peek” isn’t too bad, since this palace could be considered a pinnacle of housing, but I actually erased a superfluous apostrophe (try saying that three times fast) from a sign outside a cafe. They didn’t catch me, but the one that really bugged me was the sign for a “sandwich on a bored” (sic).
opiejeanne - July 14, 2009
Ahh, the ubiquitous, yet superfluous apostrophae.
Downing Rules - July 14, 2009
Apostrophae! BFF!!!

Mothers' Day
I’ve been correcting Mothers’ Day cards (which invariably say Mother’s Day) since I was a kid.
jjackflash - July 14, 2009
I think either would be correct, at least grammatically
Unless you’re talking about Frank Zappa’s group. People only have one mother, after all.
rspencer - July 14, 2009
the day
is for all mothers, not one. Hence, it is mothers’ day (belonging to all, not one).
jjackflash - July 14, 2009
Or
it could simply be mothers day, with no apostrophe. But if it’s going to be possessive, it’s a plural possessive.
jjackflash - July 14, 2009
I usually didn't send my mom one when she was alive
I called her and took her to dinner, or brought her some flowers.
opiejeanne - July 14, 2009
Meant to add: so I don't remember seeing where the apostrophe went.
My kids have sent them to me but I’ve blocked out any misapplied apostrophae.
opiejeanne - July 14, 2009
I'm pretty sure it's just for my mother.
TheTypingFiend - July 14, 2009
Haha!
opiejeanne - July 14, 2009
I can see why Arte went with that one.....
of course if the female realtor shown was trying to sell me something….I’d probably buy it lickity split as well.
norcaliangelsfan - July 14, 2009
+1
Downing Rules - July 14, 2009

ImranQ - July 14, 2009

I used to bump into him at the free Ayres Inn free breakfasts, dude loves Fruit Loops like they’re goin’ out of style…
(totally joking)
Rev Halofan - July 14, 2009
Classy place for a classy guy. Good for him, he deserves it for what he has given back to all Angel fans.
