Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Yankees: 8, Angels 14
The New York Yankees blew a 4-run lead and tried in vain to come back after the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim plated 7 runs in the 5th inning, but never got within more than one run as the Angels destroyed Andy Pettite and Yankees pitching with 14 runs on 16 hits. Jered Weaver got his 10th win of the year.
Brandon Wood got a long awaited start at 3B and did not disappoint, hitting a 2-run homer to get the scoring going in the 5th. No word on whether manager Mike Scioscia saw it or not. The Fox National broadcast was in the middle of fawning over Alex Rodriguez' buncrack to cut away for Wood's homerun trot.
The Angels bullpen saw Oliver and Bulger each give up 2 runs and a gamble with Kevin Jepsen pitching paid off whne Howie Kendrick made a great stab at an until-then sure base hit. Erick Aybar, Bobby Abreu and Mike Napoi were hotter than hell on a 92 degree day in Fantasyland.

I wanted to vote Aybar too.
But settled for Woody. Welcome back, kid!
ReggieBullits - July 11, 2009
Wood hasn't rotted

Should work.
TheOptimist - July 11, 2009
Give it up for Napoli holding down the middle of the order. 3 runs, 3RBI, 2 hits, 1 HR.
TheOptimist - July 11, 2009
That was my vote.
Naps wit tha tats. Tatterin’ tha ball.
Turks Teeth - July 11, 2009
Definitely, coming through when we need him the most
Epic Dean - July 11, 2009
I went with Ab-rew
whoever that is…
Fred Fredrix - July 11, 2009
This is Awesome that we are scoring so many runs, and Kicking the Sknks collective Arse's.
Considering the current state of the lineup. Now Please Sosh, no more Jepson in close games. And if Bulger gives doesn’t have it, as we all know, he really doesn’t have it.
Dear Tony, please give me a lights out set up man for my birthday (the 17th). Thanks
Big Bad, 'Vlad'! - July 11, 2009
That's my dad's birthday. He'll be 91.
opiejeanne - July 11, 2009
Nice
Congrats

I hate Fox network broadcasts.
Aside from the asinine announcers, the camera work was off, and the sound was horrible.
red floyd - July 11, 2009
Results up
scottnak - July 11, 2009
Andy "HGH anyone?" Petite is owned by the Angels.
Overrated skanks were embarrassed on national TV again…love it!
HALO N BRIMSTONE - July 11, 2009
Just came back from the game...
seeing Wood’s homer was awesome, he deserves more playing time for sure. Voted Naps though, mainly since his homer gave us 10 runs, and myself some wings.
TheKingfish - July 11, 2009
Sheriff Woody says, "REACH FOR THE SKY!!!!!!!!!"
No props for K-Mo for his 15 game HIT STREAK?
My vote is for Woody for showing what he can do when Freed!
acuda27 - July 11, 2009
Yay props for K-Mo
Clutch - July 11, 2009
Today at the airport
One Matthew Palmer checked in.
eyespy - July 11, 2009
Best things about Brandon Wood's bomb today ...
1) The nonchalant home run trot and casual handslap with Dino Ebel
2) Genuine love shown by recent former Bee teammate Howie Kendrick
3) The low fives from on-deck hitter Chone Figgins to both Kendrick and Wood.
I want to see much, much more of this.

Clutch - July 11, 2009
What I really liked about his first 2 AB's today;
1st AB – Showed a lot of patience and took a walk. Nothing wrong with that.
2nd AB – Showed a lot of patience and cranked a no-doubt opposite field HR that would have been out of every MLB stadium I can think of. And opposite field!
Unfortunately, his patience seemed to diminish from there. 3rd AB he K’d on 3 pitches. Oh well, If he can pair an HR with every K, I’ll take it.
sothball - July 12, 2009
Figures........
Wood starts……..and I miss it……oh well.
norcaliangelsfan - July 11, 2009
Alright. Somebody 'splain.
What’s with the growing trend of Halos wearing the pants above the knees?
Willits has been doing this for a while. Then Aybar. Then Izzy. Now Naps…
Stirrups - July 11, 2009
Dunno, but
Naps’ walk-up music is now “I’m On a Boat,” unless I missed this earlier, and this deepens my man-crush on him.
Clutch - July 11, 2009
Well, I ain't complaining. But they are only half way there.
To finish this trend, of course, they need to start pulling up their colors high. And then we get…….my handle!!!
Stirrups - July 11, 2009
Hooray!
Clutch - July 12, 2009
Believe me when I say
I f***ed a mermaid.
Brody - July 12, 2009
Hahaha
Clutch - July 12, 2009
Vlad started doing it too just before he went on the DL
I dunno, I like the trend, it shows a lot more red.
highlandhalo - July 12, 2009
They are copying Jeff DaVanon, famous cycling Angel and lefty-right-homer-in-one-inning Angel.
Downing Rules - July 14, 2009
What was up with the FOX announcers mispronouncing Bobby Abreu (Bobby Abrayo?) all day. He is only a two time all-star who has been playing the game for 13 seasons….anyway Bobby gets my vote, but the whole team looked great!
kbrown2225 - July 11, 2009
Have you interviewed people in Venezuela to ask how to pronounce it?
Downing Rules - July 14, 2009
Nice win!
Way to score a couple of TD’s Halos! Lets get at least 2 field goals tomorrow!
SDHaloFan - July 11, 2009
Give some love to Howard
Hopefully a sign of things to come. 3-5 with a couple RBI. Keyed the big seven-run inning by getting a leadoff hit. Quelled the Skankees rally with a big catch to spare Jepsen.
hk47 - July 12, 2009
Yeah Howie was squaring up the ball really nice
Makes for some interesting lineup decisions today. The Soth said he liked the swings Wood took against Sabathia last time he faced him, and he just hit a massive opposite-field bomb. So Woody’s probably in there somewhere. Soth will want to keep Howie in there to keep getting his bat hot. Aybar’s been playing great.
Something’s got to give. I guess a lot depends if Juancho is OK to go in LF or DH … but if it were me, personally, I’d give Figgins a start in CF or LF and go with an infield of Wood, Aybar and Kendrick, with Izzy sitting.
