"We've been searching for continuity on our pitching staff pretty much all year," Scioscia said. "We've had a lot of guys in and out of our rotation, a lot of guys sifting through roles in the bullpen. ... On the pitching side, we've been searching for it for quite a while, and we have to find it."
Figgins falls short in Final Vote whirlwind - angelsbaseball.com
"I want to thank the organization and all the fans for voting for me, and I especially thank my teammates and their families for getting behind me. It really means a lot knowing it was so important to those people who are closest to you. In a way, that's just as meaningful as winning and going to the All-Star Game.
This is a bummer, Figgins deserved to make the team.

Moneyball (the movie) lives! (sort of) - SweetSpot by Rob Neyer - ESPN
It was alive. Then it was dead. Then it was alive again. Then it was dead again. And today, thanks to the truly bizarre nature of the movie business, it seems that "Moneyball" lives yet again.
Aaron Sorkin to provide a script re-write. I just got interested.

I hope HGH isnt in CF
JoseGuillenSux - July 10, 2009
Figgins definetely deserved to make the team and I was bummed too that he didnt make
but hopefully he can still tear it up in the 2nd half.
JoseGuillenSux - July 10, 2009
Matthews will be in CF whether we want it or not
Maybe he’ll get his one hit per game when men are on base.
Fred Fredrix - July 10, 2009
Yeah exactly.
I like the Figgins/Wood idea A LOT but with the Soth at the helm, that ain’t happening.
As for the HH standings….woot! Still in first place!
Chzburger Jones - July 10, 2009
I voted for Figgy in CF...
but we all know that aint happening. Its surprising how many people outside of HH know about Brandon Wood’s talent and are baffled by our organizations continual suppression of giving him a chance….really makes you wonder.
I have actually gotten to a point where I support us trading him if it gives him a chance in the bigs…
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - July 10, 2009
Figgins to CF, Wood to 3B
Maybe it will infuriate Matthews so much that he’ll just leave.
Rally Manatee - July 10, 2009
Please!
or at least he’ll want to leave.
JoseGuillenSux - July 10, 2009
Strain = tear
C’mon, guys.
Carl Johnson - July 10, 2009
I'd tend to believe Dr. Lewis Yocum over user Carl Johnson.
sorry.
Downing Rules - July 10, 2009
A strain is a tear. Period.
There are different levels of strain. A slight strain is a slight tear. Ask the good doctor yourself, if you want, but there’s no such thing as muscle “strain” without tearing.

Thanks. He’s on the DL, so you are likely right in your diagnosis.

Anyone but Willits
The guy is a POS.
hauldog - July 10, 2009
Why move Figgins
He is playing a great third base. Why mess with it?
hauldog - July 10, 2009
ummm
to replace the power that we’re left without?
howiestheman - July 10, 2009
Put Aybar in CF?
No way. Wood plays SS unless he’s playing 3B and Figgy goes out to CF. That’s the only way this makes sense.
And get used to Jeff Mattress backstopping for a while. Maybe he’ll get hot.
highlandhalo - July 10, 2009
i dont think i said Aybar is CF
you move Figgy to CF, Woody goes to 3B and Nappy DHs. simple.
hopefully, with both of our “power threats” on the bench, Wood will actually get some playing time
howiestheman - July 10, 2009
yeah i like that
and we take HGH out of the lineup. too bad its probably not gonna happen.
JoseGuillenSux - July 10, 2009
oh it'll never happen
that’s what makes this move more frustrating.
howiestheman - July 10, 2009
Well it looks like Nelson Cruz takes over Toriis spot @ the ASG, and NOT FIGGY
