The Major League Baseball Draft is broadcast LIVE at 3 PM Today!
The Angels have the 24th and 25th picks in the first round of the draft.
The Angels also have the 40th, 42nd, 48th, 80th, 110th and 141st picks in the draft and every 30th pick after that.
The Angels biggest need is power hitting. You do not draft bullpen. I cribbed this ranking of non-pitchers from a Top 50 picks list by John Sickels on his excellent Minor League Ball site.
2) Dustin Ackley, OF-1B, North Carolina
6) Donovan Tate, OF, Georgia HS
11) Grant Green, SS, Southern Cal
15) Bobby Borchering, 3B, Florida HS
16) Jared Mitchell, OF, LSU
17) Tim Wheeler, OF, Sacramento State
23) Reymond Fuentes, OF, Puerto Rico HS
24) Mike Trout, OF, New Jersey HS
25) Max Stassi, C, California HS
31) Everett Williams, OF, Texas HS
32) A.J. Pollock, OF, Notre Dame
33) Tony Sanchez, C, Boston College
34) Jason Kipnis, OF, Arizona State
40) Matt Davidson, 3B, California HS
43) Brett Jackson, OF, California
45) Jiovanni Mier, SS, California HS
47) Rich Poythress, 1B, Georgia
50) Kent Matthes, OF, Alabama
The caveat in these rankings is that many of these college players are not seniors and therefore have greater leverage in bargaining with the teams that draft them.
Here are some other names that have popped up around the internet on mock drafts and rankings
College
Chris Dominguez, 3B, Louisville
Marc Krauss, OF, Ohio
Tony Sanchez, C, Boston College
Angelo Songco, OF, Loyola Marymount
High School
Bobby Borchering, 3B, Florida HS
Randall Grichuk, OF, Texas HS
Slade Heathcott, OF, Texas HS
Tommy Joseph, C, California HS
Jake Marisnick, OF, California HS
Ruben Sierra Jr, OF, Puerto Rico HS
Jacob Stewart, OF, Colorado HS
Donavan Tate, OF, Georgia HS

I dunno about you guys
but personally I’m kind of hoping the Angels bypass a local kid who goes to school down the street, has a 96mph fastball and nice curve, and whose Dad was a fan favorite, in favor a speedy outfielder who can’t play baseball for two years because he has to go on a Mormon mission.
MH252525 - June 9, 2009
Do you remember the name of that Mormon kid they drafted?
stolenbases - June 9, 2009
grr....
sorry about the double post
stolenbases - June 9, 2009
McKay Christenson
MH252525 - June 9, 2009
Wasted pick
mustard_man - June 9, 2009
thanks for the info!
stolenbases - June 9, 2009
Interested to see if they actually go for a college hitter
Smart money is on HS arms and toolsy infielders
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - June 9, 2009
I think they'll take the senior OF Matthes from Alabama I think
because I read that’d he’d be a good slight overdraft for the Angels because they know they can sign him.
MH252525 - June 9, 2009

Mier
Jio Mier, #45 above, is in my stepdaughter’s high school class. They graduate tonight. I’ll try to see if he’s wearing a team cap underneath his mortarboard.
jjackflash - June 9, 2009
congrats to her and Mier
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
Not a Deep Draft
It’s supposedly not a deep draft for power hitting prospects. Whether it’s a pitcher or an every-day position player, the Halos need to draft the best talent on the board. I’m not an advocate for drafting based on major league needs. Most of these kids won’t make the big league, those that do are likely 3 or 4 years away from contributing. Filling the needs on the major league club can’t wait that long.
Draft the best athletic talent, and the club will be stronger long term.
mustard_man - June 9, 2009
agree
and it is supposed to be a pretty good pitching draft. Just take the best off the board and let the chips fall where they may
Moondoggy - June 9, 2009
eddie bane is going to be sporting wood...
when the 23rd pick is made. he might jizz in his pants when he’ll be on the clock for TWO consecutive picks (24 & 25) when he’s usually not ready to pick until the 2nd round. if i’m working the draft i would accept his card w/the picks w/surgical gloves on.
thejd - June 9, 2009
Donovan Tate has gotten a lot of buzz as a legit 5 tool guy
but even if he’s around it"ll cost more than our cheapos will pay because he’s got the college leverage going for him and he’s being advised by our good friend and season ticket holder Mr. Boros.
Moondoggy - June 9, 2009
almost draft time, baby!
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
This is what I hope happens
24: Tyler Skaggs
25: Mike Trout
40: Matt Hobgood
42: Rich Poythress
48: Kent Matthes
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Hobgood might be going #5
or at least that’s what i just heard
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
oh forget him than
maybe another hitter than
I hope Bobby Bouchering falls to us but i doubt it
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
i like the other 4 though
and i think we have a legit shot to get all of them, too.
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
You got your wish
Skaggs was still around in the sammich round and we got him.
Rev Halofan - June 9, 2009
anybody else totally love MLB Network?
greatest idea…. EVER
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
ya MLB network is great
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
It is unbelieveably wonderful
Did you check out the All-Star Game Highlights show? I saw the 82 and 83 ASG highlights the other day. So fun. Oh the hair…
I love Cathedrals of the Game too. I don’t think they’ve featured Angels stadium though but not sure.
Higz - June 9, 2009
i've been keeping an eye out for Angel Stadium on Cathedrals
haven’t seen it yet
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Ya me to but nothing yet
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
oh Selig....
nobody likes you.
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
no kidding.....
MLB needs a Roger Goodell/David Stern type in the worst way
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
nice draft time.........
roll call
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
Nationals on the clock!!!!!!!!
Steven Strausburg…
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009

norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009

blochead - June 9, 2009
yes
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009

blochead - June 9, 2009
i think so
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
this is the lunch thread wherein we talk about the draft
Higz - June 9, 2009
the Natinals better pick Strausberg
or else the Mariners will
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
that would be scary
team nintendo would crap themselves
blochead - June 9, 2009

Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009

blochead - June 9, 2009
and its Strausberg
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
no surprise there
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
whats with the "first year" player draft thing people keep repeating?
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
the players being drafted
are first year players… never been in pro ball before
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
so they have mulitple other drafts then?
I know of the Rule 5………….but are there others?
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
dont think so
i think it’s just the formal name
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
its also called Rule 4 draft
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
the suspense was killing me
not
Higz - June 9, 2009
Do we have to listen to Selig the whole time?
blochead - June 9, 2009
It’s like listening to an angry principal berate you
Higz - June 9, 2009
lol
i figure he’ll tire himself out soon
blochead - June 9, 2009
I'll laugh
if the NATINALS don’t sign Strasburg
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
than they would have the 1st and 2nd picks next year
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
I also hope
Ackley is a bust
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
me to
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
damaged goods
blochead - June 9, 2009
Mariners are going to pick Dustin Ackley
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
and there's Ackley
interested to see what San Diego does
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
i think they go pitcher
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
that would be smart
unless they want the pick for next year. i doubt Tate signs
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
what
about that Crow guy that didn’t sign last yr…
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
I was thinking Tyler Matzek
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
oh yeah... we have a game today
Figgins 3B
Abreu RF
Hunter CF
Guerrero DH
Rivera LF
Morales 1B
Aybar SS

Quick survey between picks
Who is your favorite broadcaster/personality on MLB network?
I personally think Barry Larkin is awesomest.
Higz - June 9, 2009
ryan reynolds, ez
ANewFoundThrice - June 9, 2009
I've always been a pretty big fan of Harold Reynolds........
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009

Higz - June 9, 2009
I forgot to add
If you say Hazel Mae is hot, u r weird.
Higz - June 9, 2009
Trenni
Brew Angel - June 9, 2009
So for those in the "know"
does the MLB have a structured salary for draft picks (ala the NBA) or is more like the NFL and negotiation type.
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
NFL
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
they went with Tate
wow
howiestheman - June 9, 2009

Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
BAD pick , IMO
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
agreed
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
I agree
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009

norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009

lol is Bud chewing on his dentures up there or what?
fixodent or forget it man………….
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
Orioles go Tyler Matzek
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
its so hard to get into the draft because I honestly dont know anything about anyone....
other than Stratsburg………..
its not like College football where you can follow guys……
because there is college and HS!!!!
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
Just look at alot of mock drafts and top 100 lists learn some of the players
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
yeah i guess that woulda helped.....
good info for the future……..
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
OT: Torii now 5th in ballot
basically 4th, as Hamilton is hurt.
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
BTW
Hula’s only down by 30,000
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
O's take Hobgood
kinda weird
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
6-4, 245
that’s a big kid
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
indeed..........
sturdy
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
hes a good pitcher and good hitter
i think he had 21 HR
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
WTH
is he?
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
reliver, i think
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Giants need to pick Bobby Bouchering
there offense is worse than ours
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
the Waterboy?
he plays baseball now?
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
yes he does
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009

norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009

Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
lol is Selig even alive anymore?
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
IDK??
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
he predicted his death year
mastermind565 - June 9, 2009
thats kinda weird
did he really do that?
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
dont the Giants have enough pitching
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
apparently not
they want to be us
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
go Giants
hopefully they overtake the doyers in a few years
blochead - June 9, 2009
Im going to keep saying Tyler Matzek will be the next pick
until hes pick : )
Braves pick Tyler Matzek
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Matzek falling
because of signability reasons?
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
yes maybe he falls to us
wishful thinking
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
too wishful, probably
we’ll probably get Skaggs
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
ahhhh..... Kubel grand slam!!!
mastermind565 - June 9, 2009
who are they playing?
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
no they showed a recap in commericials
mastermind565 - June 9, 2009
oh my bad

howiestheman - June 9, 2009
KUUUUUUUUUBELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
/colbert
ANewFoundThrice - June 9, 2009
Braves go with Mike Minor
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
where's "Sensinatta"?
because that’s where the Reds moved to, according to Bud
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
It's a trick to make people want to sign
Epic Dean - June 9, 2009
Sensimilla?!
jjackflash - June 9, 2009
Tyler Matzek next?
probably not
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Bonds was on the Giants??
that guy is so smart
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Im pretty sure.......in my next life I want to born left handed......
because…..Im fairly confident that if you are a left handed pitcher with even average stuff…..you can find your way on a Major league team
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
it worked for Fuentes
blochead - June 9, 2009
I always tell my mom im mad at her
for not making me a lefty : (
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
...........thinking WEIRD thoughts.......
about what you do with your right hand………..
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
well
I write righty and throw lefty, so……
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
Lot of very high ceiling guys still on the board
rghan - June 9, 2009
Teams must be hurting financially.
Hope Moreno’s reaching for his wallet.
rghan - June 9, 2009
how much does it cost to sign these guys?????
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
there's our expert!
any thoughts so far?
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
It looks like we'll have some bats left for our pick
So I’m hoping for wheeler, williams, trout, or mitchell
rghan - June 9, 2009
Never heard of him
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Mke Leake
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Leake?
someone said he was one of the best college pitchers not named Strasburg
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
damn he's kinda small though...
6’ 180
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
that was why he wasn't getting drafted earlier
people worried about his size
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Oswalt
How big is he?
jjackflash - June 9, 2009
6'0", 170
good call.
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
lincecum 2.0
blochead - June 9, 2009
i wouldnt go that far
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
not in terms of talent
but in the way teams were wary of his size
blochead - June 9, 2009
Mike Leake to Sensenatta
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
...maybe Matzek drops to 24th
blochead - June 9, 2009
hopefully
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
OT: You are the GM of the Angels
Do you draft a sinker baller or a K machine? BTW, they have equal talent and potential
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
K Machine
missing bats is better.
jjackflash - June 9, 2009
hmm good question........
depends on my team defense……….
with the team we have right now???
I take a K guy
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
K machine
without question
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
gotta go with the K's
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
my philosophy
a K machine has to pitch at LEAST 3 pitches per AB to get a K, while a sinker baller can only throw 3
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
*3 per inn.
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
this is a good point.......
but again I think team defense has to be considered too
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
K's. Don't even have to think about it
hauldog - June 9, 2009
lots of pitchers..........
is this the norm?
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
this year is a pitcher draft
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
ah okay
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
the pitchers in this draft are better than the hitters
thats why there has been so many pitchers
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Natinals take Crow again?
or was he picked cant remember
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
they're taking Storn
at least i think that’s his name
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
you were right
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
i saw it announced a little before the draft
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Storen
i was close
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
SI
vlad IS my man - June 9, 2009
I think some good players will drop to the halos
because of signability issues
blochead - June 9, 2009
w00 a Stanford guy
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
smart and athletic
mastermind565 - June 9, 2009
lets go stanfurd?
teopeht - June 9, 2009
Rockies need to hitter with there park
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
smart move for that kid to not sign with the yanks.......
top 10 compared to 34th round lol……………
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
yep ALOT more money
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Rockies get Matzek
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Finally Matzek was picked
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
sounds like a good pick
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
very
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
i just flipped the game on
someone tell me when we’re gonna pick!
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
ok the games on??
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
just starting
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
you goin to the game thread or staying here?
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
havent decided.
maybe both. hahaha
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
i have 2 TVs in my living room so i can watch both : )
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
nice
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
i follow on gamecast or game day and have the draft on the tv
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
i'm actually doing the opposite
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Hopefully Oakland picks a bust like Ackely
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Mike Trout looks thick
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
yeah no one is throwing him back after they snag him
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
heh
rghan - June 9, 2009
does anyone know which hitter in the draft has the most power?
blochead - June 9, 2009
Kent Matthes had the most HR in college
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Isn't he on the Angel's radar?
blochead - June 9, 2009
yup
supplemental pick
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
we could even wait until the second round
K’s are killing him. He’s not all that high up according to BA
rghan - June 9, 2009
hard to argue with that
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Grant Green was supposed to be picked higher right?
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
dont think so
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
mlb predicted 19th
blochead - June 9, 2009
we're up 1-0
Vlad just singled Figgy in.
and that’s one point for me. :)
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
lol, were not bothering to watch the game
mastermind565 - June 9, 2009
thanks to the two errors too lol
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
Rangers probably going to take Shelby
MH252525 - June 9, 2009
they need pitching
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Angels are winning 1-0
runners on 1st and 3rd 1 out for those who arnt watching it
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
2-0 runer on 3rd 2 outs
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
2-0 now
Juan almost got doubled up, but instead got an RBI on a FC
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
he tried lol
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
Rays fansare weird
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
fans are
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
please be a dud
blochead - June 9, 2009
didn't shields used to throw like 93-94?
only getting upper 80’s tonight so far
MH252525 - June 9, 2009
Alex White finally goes
i thought he’d go earlier
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
I hope Arizona doesnt pick Bouchering
they have back 2 back picks
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Damn
rghan - June 9, 2009
so even though these guys are drafted they arestill eligible to finish the CWS right?
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
yes i believe so
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
who are they talking to in Anaheim?
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
nvm
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
9 more picks!!!
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
AZ gets the Waterboy!
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Damnit they picked him
i wanted him
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
there goes the Waterboy......
probably a good spot for him…….in the desert.
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
damn borcherings gone..
Monkeyspanked - June 9, 2009
Yeah, that's the first bat we had an outside shot at
rghan - June 9, 2009
i heard AZ loved him
so i wasn’t holding my breath
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
i think they go pitcher with this pick
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
i was wrong
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
Something tells me the Angels draftroom looks nothing like the A's draftroom
MH252525 - June 9, 2009

rghan - June 9, 2009

howiestheman - June 9, 2009
sac state centerfielder
He was supposed to be off the board by now. Huge, going to shift to left at some point, but hits from the left side for avg, power, and can steal a base
rghan - June 9, 2009
oh thats fantastic
think he’ll fall that far?
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
no, I don't
But signability is playing a big role here, so anything could happen
rghan - June 9, 2009
that would be amazing
howiestheman - June 9, 2009

norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
He'd get lost in Bartolo's shadow...
mustard_man - June 9, 2009
RGHAN -
if Wheeler’s available, do you think we’d pass on him? based on his stats, he seems IDEAL for our team
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Not anymore. I was worried we'd grab Mier
Still worried about Fuentes
rghan - June 9, 2009
ya Fuentes scared me to
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009

Valuable, but… Well, we’ve got Bourjos

Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009
he looks like he needs a few meatball subs from subway
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
It's funny
I’m relieved now – but I can’t help but feel that Meir’s going to gain 50 pounds and hit 40 homeruns someday.
rghan - June 9, 2009
I think he'll be a bust
mustard_man - June 9, 2009
its not like we passed him up though
Vladd#27 - June 9, 2009

rghan - June 9, 2009

MH252525 - June 9, 2009
Wheeler may go here....
mustard_man - June 9, 2009
well, williams and trout are still on the board too
rghan - June 9, 2009
do the angels go wheeler and trout?
blochead - June 9, 2009
I'll think they'll take a pitcher with the second pick
rghan - June 9, 2009
i was hoping they would take two hitters
like the d-backs
blochead - June 9, 2009
to Minn
mustard_man - June 9, 2009
Twins take Kyle Gibson
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Right on
We’re looking at an outfielder and (hopefully) Skaggs
rghan - June 9, 2009

rghan - June 9, 2009

howiestheman - June 9, 2009

mustard_man - June 9, 2009
This is great. Go cheap.

MH252525 - June 9, 2009
Smart pick
mustard_man - June 9, 2009
Nice
Epic Dean - June 9, 2009
Randal Grichuk
“Grichuk has significant raw power but it’s a pull-oriented approach, and he’s limited to an outfield corner.”
Stirrups - June 9, 2009
i still don't like it
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Hatcher probably doesnt either..
a strict pull hitter????
No bueno for this team lol
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
lmfao
blochead - June 9, 2009
That was a negotiating move
We’re trying to knock down Trout’s price a bit, drafting him after the cheaper Grichuk.
rghan - June 9, 2009
my thought too
KyRod - June 9, 2009
yea.... I don't doubt this at all
look Mike you got drafted after some hockey player, just take a million and a half
MH252525 - June 9, 2009
Classy
classy that he was present
KyRod - June 9, 2009
very
i like this kid already
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Wonder if these two are headed to Orem, or Arizona?
Assuming (big assumption) that they sign soon.
rghan - June 9, 2009
Keith Law
Keith Law: Worst pick of the first round for me. Has pull power but he’s a corner outfielder with an extreme pull approach. Will be very, very curious to see how he does once he reaches high A-ball.
hauldog - June 9, 2009
the first guy?
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
Dan Uggla is a extreme pull hitter too.....
MH252525 - June 9, 2009
okay whatever Keith........
its the bottom portion of the round…….get over it.
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
Keith Law On Grichuk when he worked out for the Cards:
“The mystery team on Lamar Consolidated HS outfielder Randal Grichuk is the St. Louis Cardinals, who had him in for a second workout today. It’s still not a lock that they’ll take him, but he’s clearly in consideration for their pick.”
Stirrups - June 9, 2009
And from Futurebirds.net
“As for the player himself, Grichuk has all sorts of thunder in his bat, but he’s not fast, he doesn’t have a great arm therefore he is expected to be limited to left field. Some scouts have the idea of moving him to 2nd base where his bat would play better, and leave it to the Cardinals to share such a notion.”
Stirrups - June 9, 2009
so he's Uggla 2.0?
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
I would be okay with that.
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
Haha t-minus 10 mins til his myspace pix are everywhere… you know a jersey boy like him has to have some scandalicious pix.
BrentSchmidt - June 9, 2009
From BaseballRumorMill
8:03pm With the 24th pick of the 2009 MLB Draft the Los Angeles Angels select Randal Grichuk. The Angels remain on the clock.
8:04pm Everyone knows that the Angels love high school players so where the player came from is not much of a surprise. What is a surprise is that they passed up guys like Everett Williams, Mike Trout and Reymond Fuentes.
8:05pm I like Tyler Skaggs or Garrett Gould with this next pick for the Angels.
8:08pm With the 25th pick of the 2009 MLB Draft, the Los Angeles Angels select Mike Trout. The Milwaukee Brewers are now on the clock.
8:09pm Fun scene at the draft with Trout in attendance. I think this is going to be the future of the draft in years to come as it gains steam. Harold Reyonlds tells us that they asked every player in the country to come to the draft and Trout was the only one who said yes. I have a feeling that’s going to change with the face time Trout just got.
Stirrups - June 9, 2009
ha yeah look at all the press talking to him......
he’s probably loving it…….
I really hope he gets signed.
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
why not draft Wheeler?
blochead - June 9, 2009
we hate college kids?
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
is there something wrong with Wheeler?
hard to believe so many teams are passing on him
howiestheman - June 9, 2009
money
He must be expensive
rghan - June 9, 2009
thats what i'm thinking
howiestheman - June 9, 2009

GA4Ever - June 9, 2009

norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2009
