Final Score in Arizona: Angels 12, Diamondbacks 8
Somehow, some way, Matt Palmer's magic continues. The journeyman is now 7-1 after getting just enough and letting a bullpen do the rest. A Kevin Jepsen choke was quelled by scoreless relief from relievers Jason Bulger, Justin Speier and Brian Fuentes.
The highlight of the game had to have been Angels Centerfielder Gary Matthews Jr. stealing home to follow up his bases-clearing 3 RBI double. He reached 3B on a throwng error and stole home off of pitcher Max Scherzer, who took the loss. Maicer Iztursi, batting 2nd was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.
The 1st Place Angels now head to suburban Dallas for a showdown with the 2nd Place Texas Rangers.

GMJ comes through in the clutch.......
glad the blowpen could salvage the win………would have been quite disturbing to blow that lead.

Fixed it. "Whacked." As in, "That game was..." or "That Arizona team is..."

Kevin Jepsen could throw batting practice to a T-Ball team
Achillies, we’ve found your heel. This dude sucks and is bringing down the team.

OK. We whipped the NL West's booties.
I hope we continue the momentum over the next 3 games.
Believe it or not (apologies to Ripley)…we currently have the 4th best winning percentage in MLB (slightly ahead of the Tigers). We are only trailing the Dodgers, Red Sox, and Yankees. And if the Yankees lose tonight (not likely) we will pass them!
Will all the crap, all the BS, all the injuries, and all the tragedies, this is nothing less than AMAZING. As the season progresses, I am beginning to think this year is more of a testament to solid team management (Moreno, Reagins, Scioscia) than last year or even 2002.
Truly remarkable. Enjoy it while it lasts.

That double was huge, and the steal of home was awesome.
Definitely need to do something about Jepsen.

Mighty Mouse! Slap-hitter extraordinaire!
Nice work by GMJ too. Hey, if you need to have a back-up for Torri, you could do worse right?

Rivera HR: Rivera woulda caught it.
vladtheimpaler - June 29, 2009
Damn
Lets give credit when credit is due.
GMJ would have caught it.
WillGoAngels27 - June 29, 2009
Now is the time
Find a way to get GMJ to waive the no trade, and deal him for a reliever. His value is about as high as it’s going to get, it’s time to get on with it.
