for the Simpsons. Was never a big fan. My brother and I are hardcore Seinfeld fans. So much so that we have our own “secret” language. We’re always dropping random lines from the show and both of our wives are wondering what the hell we’re talking about.
1950’s: I Love Lucy
1960’s: Gillgan’s Island
1970’s: All in the Family Hello, Larry
1980’s: WKRP (I realize it started in the 1970s, but I watched it alot in the 80’s)
1950’s thru 1970’s:
Gunsmoke, Mission Impossible, Star Trek. Not sitcoms but what we watched because they were my father’s favorites, and this is what we watched or else. Back in the day when most people just had one household television.
80’s: Married With Children, because I was friendly with Katey Sagal at the time. She was very cool.
Hard because a lot of the shows started mid one decade and ended mid-next
50s: I Love Lucy / Honeymooners?
60s: Andy Griffith?
70s: M.A.S.H.
80s: The Cosby Show / The A-Team (I know it’s not a sitcom. It still defined the decade)
90s: Home Improvement. I was always kinda meh on seinfeld.
00s: The Drew Carey Show / That 70s Show
50s I love Lucy
60s Leave it to Beaver (Didn’t care for the show, but I think it really captures the 60s well)
70s All in the Family (The definitive 70s sitcom IMO though you can’t go wrong with just about anything else Norman Lear put out)
80s Family Ties or Cheers
90s Seinfeld
00s Family Guy
1950’s: Fractured Fairy Tales (I still cannot stand I Love Lucy. Never been able to stomach it.)
1960’s: Batman. Barely in front of The Addams Family. And The Andy Griffith Show. The Munsters were pretty great, too.
1970’s: M.A.S.H.
1980’s: Cheers
1990’s: Frasier
2000’s: I don’t do sitcoms anymore. I got nothin’ here…(And why isn’t anybody saying Arrested Development, or The Office? I thought those were huge?)
50’s: Leave it to Beaver
60’s: The Munsters (my sister made me watch this and Gidget repeatedly in reruns during the 80s). 2nd favorite: Get Smart
70’s: Gilligan’s Island
80’s: Family Ties
90’s: Seinfeld. 2nd favorite: Parker Lewis Can’t Lose!
00’s: The Office
I don't watch TV (cough cough) but I do like these shows ...
50s The Phil Silvers Show [aka “Sgt Bilko” or “You’ll Never Get Rich”], hon. mention to You Bet Your Life
60s Bewitched, Addams Family, Monkees, Gidget [Carolyn Jones: Hottest Woman on TV Ever], What’s My Line?
70s Mary Tyler Moore & Newhart … Fernwood 2Nite … Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman
80s [The 80s were a blur of alcohol and women]
90s Seinfeld, Ellen Degeneres, Murphy Brown, Ben Stiller Show [Tom Cruise: Dress Casual – genius!]
00s Arrested Development. I mean COME ON! also, the British “the Office”
10s The Eric Byrnes Goodtime Hour
20s Leave It to Hudler
…every sitcom I watched was already mentioned. Except for one…that had one good season, then was terrible after that. It was the launching pad for a very well known and highly respected actor. It started in 1981. Any guesses?

Bosom Buddies, starring Pete Scolari and Tom Hanks.
And Rev, if you saw the show, I hope you now have Billy Joel’s “My Life” stuck in your head!
Did anyone mention The Bob Newhart Show or Newhart?
That would be the second BNS with Suzanne Pleshette . I have no memory of the first one which ran in the early 60s.
The finale of Newhart was terrific, where he wakes up next to Pleshette and the whole Mary Frann/Vermont hotel/Larry and the two Darrels/Handyman George Utley (Tom Poston) had only been a dream. A strange dream. My kids still quote a line from that series, “Tonight youy sleep with the cheeses!”
Cant remember the show decade overlaps, but..........FAMOUS LINES:
Honeymooners (To the Moon Alice!….to the Moon!)
Beaver (Is Wallace home, Mrs, Cleaver?)
Gilligan (G-I-L-L-I-G-A-N-N-N-N-N-!!!!!!!!)
My Three Sons (Chip, Robbie – can I see you for a minute?)
Get Smart (Sorry about that, Chief!)
Adams Family (I’ve just cornered the market in used plywood! – Gomez)
I Dream of Jeannie (Oooh, Master……I’m sooo sorry…….)
…….jump to 90’s/00’s
King of the Hill (Kahn, that is SPECIFICALLY prohibited in the Block Charter!…………………………."Shackelford,………..RUSTY Shackleford………..))
You nailed it for me, except for the 90s
I don’t think we watched much tv that decade; too busy with the kids’ activities. I like that all of your choices are sitcoms.

whoops
I thought Gilligan’s Isl. ran into the early 70s, I see on imdb.com it ended in 1967. In that case I make my vote for 70’s “Taxi”
60’s is a logjam for me, and I wasn’t even around back then… let’s say 1. Gilligan’s Island 2. The Munsters 3. Get Smart
