princeton11loveshalos - June 16, 2009
What's a better nickname for O'Sullivan?
“Viva Las Vegas” or “Wolverine?”
3rd Echelon - June 16, 2009
the latter
IMO
vlad IS my man - June 16, 2009
I am liking Jack Black, actually.
matthiasstephan - June 17, 2009
I'm so glad
I’m not the only one who noticed the resemblance.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
Terry went on and on about it
red floyd - June 17, 2009
I didn't hear about that.
I don’t think Rory or Gubie (Goobie?) mentioned it. About the third inning I looked at SOS and it dawned on me who he reminded me of.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
Radio, my friend. Radio.
red floyd - June 17, 2009
I know about radio.
It’s got them purty tubes an’ all inside it, just the newest new-fangled thing and when you switch it on you can hear shows all the way from downtown, nearly twenty miles away.
I was watching the game on television. They didn’t mention it.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
Ha! Sarcasm....
…you will fit in well here.
sothball - June 17, 2009
I've had the gift since I was a wee child.
It has never failed me.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
BIG ups to Napoli
but it’s got to go to O’Sullivan. even against the pathetic NL West, he pitched an absolute gem, especially for his MLB debut.
great game.
howiestheman - June 16, 2009
Res Up!
scottnak - June 16, 2009
I'm glad I was on tonight, the game thread was a lot of fun. ^_^
Zu Long - June 16, 2009
I was at my nephew's HS graduation
(Simi High, home of Jered Weaver).
red floyd - June 16, 2009
Another win....
big ups to SOS………and the bats especially Napoli………who I believe was 4-5 (according to gameday) not 3-5 as posted in the blog blurb.
norcaliangelsfan - June 16, 2009
yup
he had 4
vlad IS my man - June 16, 2009
Tonight did wonders for my Fantasy team with Bobby and Napoli.

SOS was amazing!!
solid & steady!

the four word phrase….

I'm afraid to ask............

SO'S to the rescue. Panther
Can we move to the NL West please. We could swap with the doyers. Bat Lackey cleanup.
vladtheimpaler - June 16, 2009
I think we should swap with Arizona.
We kill the Dodgers, so as many games as we can get with them the better.
matthiasstephan - June 17, 2009
Dodgers won't allow it
They’d become what the LA Clippers are to the LA Lakers (Angels).
vladtheimpaler - June 17, 2009
This is all fictitious anyway.
No way MLB allows us to join the NL. Besides, can our pitching staff hit?? What do we do with Vlad?? Too many questions.
We do pretty well against Choakland and Seattle anyway.
matthiasstephan - June 17, 2009
Yeah, I wasn't really serious either
And you’re right, we do fine in the AL West.
vladtheimpaler - June 17, 2009
O'Sullivan can :-)
red floyd - June 17, 2009
First major league win and first major league hit in the same game?
The very definition of panther, I say.
cardinalwraith - June 16, 2009
O'Beautiful
Tis a good day to be Irish! Lucky Paddy … well done, Sean …
highlandhalo - June 16, 2009
Did you realize
there was a Sean to Chone to Sean (to Abreu) pattern in that double play? Well, not quite, but Sean pitched the ball that was fielded by Chone and thrown to Sean Rodriguez and then to Bobby Abreu.
opiejeanne - June 16, 2009
?
Bobby Abreu doesn’t play first base.. are you thinking Kendry Morales? cause i sure as hell have never heard of an outfielder being involved at the end of a double play..
b0rd3rline - June 16, 2009
Yes.
Sorry. I’m so dumb sometimes.
opiejeanne - June 16, 2009
it happens
enjoy the site, post here and have fun, i have made boo-boos over the years and they let me have it too….
Rev Halofan - June 16, 2009
Ha! Thanks.
I’m not too broken up by the criticism, and I thought it was pretty mild. All week I have had this mental glitch, referring to Abreu as the 1st baseman.
(it’s a great site, by the way. much more fun than the other one)
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
wait-the other one?
vlad IS my man - June 17, 2009
There is this other forum
where a certain troll is allowed free rein by the mods and he’s not bright enough to be amusing. I hesitate to mention it by name but it’s on the official site.
It’s just a big ol’ mess.
There are a few people there that I like but the fighting, the lack of baseball knowledge by too many, the automatic discourtesy to fans of other teams, the political acrimony* which spills into the baseball threads, and the people who can’t ignore the troll just makes it Not So Much Fun.
*I think discussion of baseball in general and the Angels in particular should be enough for anyone on an Angels forum. If I want to yammer about politics I can find a forum devoted to that.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
I forgot to mention
the people who troll the other team forums, and what follows them back home.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
When that cocksucker Lee Diligence
shows his ass (which is the sum total of his anatomy) here he gets banned.
Rev Halofan - June 17, 2009
I figured
something like that was the rule here (I read the rules in the sidebar), and I thank you from the bottom of my mean little unforgiving heart.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
Rev I heard you on Angels radio before the game!
You brought up some mighty good points on Shields. It’s irrelevant to this post, I know, but still good job.
TheAntiSox - June 17, 2009
Thanks
it is fun and Biggsy is cool to let me have a forum – I am into it.
Rev Halofan - June 17, 2009
What's the deal with Sean O'Sullivan?
Is he supposed to be the real deal? Or was this just some aberration?
I only saw a little of the game, but was impressed with what I did see.
bc56274 - June 16, 2009
darn i missed the game too
At least we escape with the series win before having to face tiny tim.
blochead - June 16, 2009
Scioscia’s pre-game interview shown on FSN said it for me:
“If you look at the stats, Sean doesn’t look that great; but, from what we’ve seen he has the stuff to get the job done.” (paraphrased, mind you).
Downing Rules - June 17, 2009
What's this!?
Name IP H R ER BB K ERA*
J Speier 1.0 0 0 0 0 1 4.62
J Bulger 1.0 0 0 0 2 2 4.94
the relievers didn’t give up a run…ZOMG!
blochead - June 16, 2009
The Bullpen got the
stenographers notes from the closed door meeting, and decided to put their game on.
eyespy - June 17, 2009
Who knew
they could read shorthand.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
Yeah, but it took Bulge a while to read the cliff's notes version.
9 consecutive balls?
red floyd - June 17, 2009
He’s got a lot of balls.
Downing Rules - June 17, 2009
Manly yes
eyespy - June 17, 2009
SOS looked great...
He looked like he’d been there before. Nerves of steel. Hopefully they let him stay up a bit longer after that!
Monkeyspanked - June 16, 2009
Yes, Nerves of Steel
Every SP must have nerves of steel once they’ve seen the bullpen….. I’m really glad the arsonists preserved his first win and did not screw it up.
mustard_man - June 17, 2009
I held my breath
when Speier came in to pitch, but I howled when they announced Bulger. So glad I was wrong, but when he started loading up the bases with two outs I had to leave the room for a minute.
opiejeanne - June 17, 2009
Sean O'Sullivan?...What kind of name is that?
What? Was Shamus McFitzPatrick taken?…
The Clyde - June 17, 2009
He will be called up after the All-Star break.
No worries.
matthiasstephan - June 17, 2009
Sounds like a brigade leader in the IRA....
mustard_man - June 17, 2009
I think I mentioned this before, but..
I once had a D&D character named Sean O’Sullivan
red floyd - June 17, 2009
It was Irish Heritage Night Last Night at the Ballpark.
LosAngel - June 17, 2009
Great Game
Awesome start to what we hope is a long and successful career with the Halos
