Angels' Scot Shields will miss rest of season - Los Angeles Times
With the pain in his troublesome left knee failing to subside in the nearly three weeks since he went on the disabled list, Angels reliever Scot Shields on Sunday said he has opted for season-ending surgery.

Izturis over Rodriguez: It's ping over power - Angels Unplugged - Los Angeles Times
You've heard of guys having a man crush? Well, Scioscia has a manager's crush when it comes to the little man he calls "Izzy." How else can you explain his insistence that Izturis, with no home runs on a team that ranks 13th in the 14-club American League in homers, will continue to play second base, despite the presence of just-called-up Sean Rodriguez, who was leading the Pacific Coast League with 21 home runs?
Steve Bischeff doesn't pull his punches.
K-Rod's feud with Bruney escalates - MLB.com: News
The players had to be separated after K-Rod confronted Bruney in left field, once the Mets had completed their stretching regimen. Bruney said that his intention was to approach Rodriguez to make peace, after he was quoted saying that Rodriguez has "a tired act" and called the closer's on-field actions "embarrassing."
There's video of K-Rod manning-up.

Murray Chass On Baseball "
Andrew Friedman is angry with me. He is the general manager of the Tampa Bay Rays, and he is angry that I wrote in a column that he did not return a call from me seeking comment about the Rays’ treatment of Evan Longoria and David Price. He didn't return your call?

Deadspin - The Unfortunate Ambushing Of Jerod Morris' Raul Ibanez Post - Raul Ibanez
Third: Ken Rosenthal doesn't have a fucking clue. Not in life, or in his baseball knowledge, but in the execution of his whole pointless attack, going borderline Albom-esque ("I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!") on poor Jerod over a perfectly reasonable post that didn't deserve to get the national lambasting it did. Partially this is ESPN's fault for orchestrating this whole segment as some sort of poor man's "Costas Now," hoping they could re-open this tired debate again to confuse all the old, out of work people flipping through the channels yesterday afternoon. What is this scary thing you call "blog"?

Izzy is a utility player and very good one (and a player that I like)
he should be spelling Figgy at third, spelling Wood at short, and spelling SRod at second-base as well as a late inning pinch hitter for Mathis. Two years ago, Soth had him batting 5th against the Sox in the playoffs, that wasn’t funny.

I'm the only guy who likes Palmer?
Really, with all stats and numbers aside?
Oh well. I think his interviews are amusing and it’s fun to watch a guy who isn’t supposed to do anything get some success after putting all that work in.
thetooth - June 15, 2009
I just supplied the 3rd Matt Palmer vote. I wasn’t going to jump on the JWeave bandwagon just cause he got a CG yesterday. I like him and all, but he was nearing #5 status not too long ago.
Downing Rules - June 15, 2009
Palmer is a great story, I like him a lot. He has guts on the mound and he most love this game
to stick it out in the minors as long as he did. But I have a weakness for left-handers and voted for Saunders.
tanana40 - June 15, 2009
I have been a Palmer supporter all season long.
I am particularly happy that Butcher was wrong that Palmer would not remain in the rotation once Escobar came back. It’s true Palmer would not have stayed in the rotation had Escobar stayed completely healthy, but during a televised interview shortly before Escobar’s return, Butcher expressed a definite lack of support for Matty’s efforts at the time.

Go over to McCovey's Chronicles and read Grant's Angels series preview, it is hilariously bad.

Holy crap am i the only person in three counties who likes Brian Fuentes?
Sam Miller OCR - June 15, 2009
There has to be a story there.
44FAN - June 15, 2009
I guess so.
While I have no reason to dislike him, he hasn’t done anything this season (on or off the field) to necessarily endear him to me.

Miami Herald's Baseball Wire previews the Lackey/Zito matchup
Noting that
I think they’ve made a mistake. I seem to recall Lackey pitching against the Giants in a game on 27 Oct 2002… A rather significant game, if I recall correctly.red floyd - June 15, 2009

This is happening more and more as lazy reporters rely on internet stats
Regular season compilations are quick and easy and fucktard journalists (the ones who claim to be so damn important to our free society).
Adam Kennedy’s 3-Bomb game was not listed on the Angels own telecast the other night, obviously because the Fox Sports West people are Dodger fans and could care less about accuracy.
