Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Angels 9, Padres 1
Pitcher Joe Saunders carried a 1-Run game into the 9th inning on a night where all of the scoring was taken care of in the first with a 2-RBI single by Juan Rivera. Catcher Jeff Mathis guided Saundo threw the game and hit a 2-run homer himself and 1B-Man Kendry Morales had a solo shot, but Centerfielder Torii Hunter tied the single game franchise mark held by many with THREE Homeruns.
Yes, this is a discussion of the postgame results of the Angels. You are not drunk. Or if you are, they aren't. Not anymore. At least during these games.
No wonder the Dodgers have such a great record playing in the wimpy National League West.
In a postgame interview, Hunter credited MIke Scioscia's intense clubhouse tirade toward the entire team at the end of a lackluster 4-5 road trip on Thursday for the current turnaround. Nice for Angels fans to know somebody cares.

Dude, seriously
Stop stalking Torii.
When are you going to tell us where you get these?
Clutch - June 13, 2009
What Kind of Place Does Torii Hang?
Where the guy in the background with the red robe is half hanging off his body. I didn’t know Torii was into that kind of “entertainment”.
ttsec - June 14, 2009
Had Peavy pitched, what do you think the chances we’d get this win?
BrentSchmidt - June 13, 2009
woulda coulda shoulda
too bad for them
Moondoggy - June 13, 2009
slim haha
deejayelleseven - June 13, 2009
We would have won 2-1, or 3-1 I think.
44FAN - June 13, 2009
We woulda pulled his pants down ...
spanked him, and made him wear a little pink dress.
That’s how badly we would have beaten Peavy.
LazorkoRules - June 13, 2009
Torii woulda hit 4 bombs
Rev Halofan - June 13, 2009
Would have beat him too
Peavy for the most part has been very subpar this year in many of his starts
stolenbases - June 13, 2009
I love Peavy!
But until he becomes an Angel, I’d have to say would would have ripped his heart out and eaten it while he watched.
Wow, that seems kind of harsh in retrospect. Oh, well.
vladtheimpaler - June 13, 2009
meant that for Schmidty
vladtheimpaler - June 13, 2009
Hula Dula!!!
With a verrrrrrrry close second for Hokie Joe.
red floyd - June 13, 2009
Now let’s see if the Doyers can hold onto their lead with 2 1/2 innings to go.
BrentSchmidt - June 13, 2009
Panther to Torii...
and a bucket of extra crispy to Hokie Joe.
sothball - June 13, 2009
Red Jerseys = So much Win!!!
deejayelleseven - June 13, 2009
Even if Joe gets the shutout
I think you give the nod to Torii for 3 homeruns. That’s just awesome.
MH252525 - June 13, 2009
I voted Torii but Sando deserves the vote too
angelsfan777 - June 13, 2009

Funke5ive - June 13, 2009

Certainly appears so. He also has three ice cubes too, just like Papa Kool-Aid
Big Easy Halofan - June 13, 2009

I will never look at Mister Kool Aid
the same way again…
Rev Halofan - June 13, 2009
WOW
How could anybody have voted for anybody but Hunter?? I mean, Hokie was nails tonight, but 3 HR’s is epic!
KingF15h - June 13, 2009
That was an awesome game to go to tonight!
Especially great since I got to see it in my sister and brother-in-law’s Diamond Club seats instead of the usual upper view level when I get to go.
stolenbases - June 13, 2009
'bout time Joe pounded someone
And Torii “the Babe” Hunter for Panther. Me likes him hitting in front of Vlad berry, berry, much.
vladtheimpaler - June 13, 2009
I was there! One of the best games I’ve ever been to! After Torii hit his 3rd homer everyone was chanting his name while Vlad was trying to bat. They really shoulda taken a moment before calling Vlad to the plate. The crowd was very busy at that moment. When the Angels came back out to the field the crowd was cheering Torii all the way to center field. What a game!! Someone actually invited the ANGELS to this Angel game and man…..it felt great to be there! THIS is what our team plays like when they mesh together!
firebird81 - June 13, 2009
I started that cheer for my section (260) when he was at 3rd base during his 3rd HR trot...
He tipped his cap — nice curtain call!!!
I had only read about DeCinces’ TWO 3-HR games back in the mid-80’s; tonight was my first time to SEE a single player 3-HR game IN PERSON. Hunter is awesome. My 5-year-old son was going bananas as he was wearing his Torii “48” T-Shirt.
Awesome game to be at … you are right.
Downing Rules - June 13, 2009
We were very fortunate
I never thought I would see a Halo hit 3 homers in 1 game again after Kennedy did it!
stolenbases - June 13, 2009
that was the greatest single sporting event I have ever been too
Kennedy in an A’s uniform today still makes me cry
trojanangelfan - June 13, 2009
2002 wow!
Spent all kinds of crazy money that year figuring it was possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Angels go so far
stolenbases - June 14, 2009
260?
I was in 259. We’d gotten up to get snacks right when it happened so we missed the cheer—good going though, maybe we saw you!
Clutch - June 13, 2009
How about the time little Freddie Patek
a whole 5’-4" tall hit 3 HR’s in a game in 1980 for the Angels. He only had 5 the whole year.
HanoverFist - June 13, 2009
wow
best game I’ve EVER been to….
vlad IS my man - June 13, 2009
Toroiid Hunter
Chzburger Jones - June 13, 2009
Anyway
Angels workers are classy. I wanted to buy the cheap Adenhart memorial magazines, and they decided to give it to me free. Classy, classy staff. Other than that, I sat in crap seats ( 401, row A), but had a great time as Torii’s first hit the Del Taco sign in left. To sum up the game, JEFF MATHIS, yes, that guy, hit a HR. Wow
vlad IS my man - June 13, 2009
