Final Score in Tampa: Rays 11, Angels 1
Although Angel batters managed to draw 8 walks against Rays' pitchers, they also managed to strikeout 12 times and bang out just 4 hits. In another all-around weak performance, the Halo hitters looked uninspired, while each of Angel hurlers tossed what must have looked like beach balls to the Rays hitters towards the plate.
The Rays slugged as many home runs as the Angels had hits (4), enroute to their second straight win over the Halos, getting double-digit hits for the second night in a row.
Starting pitcher Ervin Santana, taken out with 2 outs in the 5th inning, gave up 6 runs on 8 hits, including a long home run to Evan Longoria in the 5th. Santana's velocity appeared to be fading and his slider looked ineffective. Once again the Angel bullpen allowed their share of runs, although by the time Darren Oliver entered the game it was out of reach for the anemic offense.
The lone highlight was Kevin Jepsen's (yes, Kevin Jepsen) inning-and-a-third performance, where he struck out 2 while giving up just one hit.

Starting to wonder if I should pay to go see these guys when I’m out in Cali in a 12 days…
BrentSchmidt - June 11, 2009
I already got my tickets for mondays game against the Giants.........
afraid im gonna be disappointed…..
norcaliangelsfan - June 11, 2009
lower your expectations
OK, have NO expectations
ladybug - June 11, 2009
the sad thing about it is.........
Its gonna be my first ever live Angels game…..
Taking the wife and the 6th month old too…….
norcaliangelsfan - June 11, 2009
it'll still be OK
bring warm clothes for the little one….it gets cold and damp there
ladybug - June 11, 2009
They lost the firat game I saw them in too.
And on top of that, Wally Joyner was hurt and didn’t play.
KingF15h - June 11, 2009
first, not firat, lol
KingF15h - June 11, 2009
Yeah haven’t gone to a game @ the Big A since 06… saw them in STL with a nice come-back win two years ago, and the opening ST game this year (where I got to be the ball boy), so yeah… it’s overdue.
BrentSchmidt - June 11, 2009
Seriously, depending on how they do against the Pads, that’s gonna be the factor for if I want my old man to cough up some dough and see them with me. Cause yeah the Rockies aren’t so great either, but if they can’t beat SD….
BrentSchmidt - June 11, 2009
It should be a very competitive series
Considering the mediocrity of both teams
stolenbases - June 11, 2009
You don’t stop seeing your family if they disappoint you, do you? You shouldn’t. Continue attending, man.

overreaction in 5, 4, 3, 2....
this team smells like 3rd place

Yeah, it feels like there's no hope.
chairmanofthebar - June 11, 2009
Dear Mike Scioscia
Please, please, please do NOT call up anyone from AAA that might help us. Keep playing GMJ, Robb Quinlan, and Jeff Mathis. Stay the course! It’s working out oh so well thus far.
Thank You
KingF15h - June 11, 2009
its reached the point where as of right now, june 11th
we are the 4th best team in the AL West. Seattle, Oakland and obviously Texas are ALL playing way better than us.
But hey, at least we have Gary Matthews and Erick Aybar.
What this team really needs is a rebuild but we know they wont fully commit. Prepare for some extremely mediocre .500 ball from here on out
ihearhowie2.0 - June 11, 2009
So I have been trying to be Mr. Posi on here for the past couple weeks....
but….I think this is the first game this season where I seriously think that we wont make the playoffs now.
I still have hope we’ll create some sort of chemistry but somethings awry…im not going to bitch about Soth or GMJ or how Ninja didnt do enough. But something is definitely wrong…and this season and probably next season are gonna be kinda tough.
HOWEVER!
I do have Brandon Wood and Sean Rodriguez to look forward to…even if they arent our saviours…it will be fun seeing them finally getting their shot either at the end of this season and next year…(assuming Bwood will be on team next season…which I am pretty sure he will be.)
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - June 11, 2009
And Matt Palmer will definitely help now that he is back in the rotation. :)
44FAN - June 11, 2009
And Texas wins...
chairmanofthebar - June 11, 2009
And Seattle is now tied with the Angels for 2nd
chairmanofthebar - June 11, 2009
This team should be called the Chastity Bonos...
It’s like they’ve had a collective sex change.
Playing like a bunch of girls.
bc56274 - June 11, 2009
hey, watch it
ladybug - June 11, 2009
How topical.
clover_black - June 11, 2009
Results up.
scottnak - June 11, 2009
Welcome, Mr. Rich Thompson, to the bullpen
Come and underachieve with us.
PieceOfAase - June 11, 2009
You know...a sign of how bad this game was
Thompson gives 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning and doesn’t merit a mention in BOTG
Moondoggy - June 11, 2009
Hudlerism Of The Night:
During the broadcast, late in the game as Jepsen was coming in from the cowpen, we got Rex saying this:
“Just ‘cuz you can’t get anybody out in AAA doesn’t mean you can’t get ’em out up here, and Sosh knows this.”
Stirrups - June 11, 2009
I am glad that I decided to take a nap instead of deal with this game
stolenbases - June 11, 2009
LOSE
vlad IS my man - June 11, 2009
Nice image
After tonight’s game it would be easy to believe someone has a voodoo doll for nearly every player on the Angels.
opiejeanne - June 11, 2009
If I was the manager...
…and I saw my 2nd baseman go up to bat as the last out in an 11-1 loss and start laughing and joking around with the catcher and ump, I’d bench the guy for a long long time. I don’t care what commercials he’s in.
Fred Fredrix - June 11, 2009
he wants to hop onto the
SLC Train
vlad IS my man - June 11, 2009
Oh yeah!
That’s the last straw for me. If I were Soth, HK would be a Bee right now.
rspencer - June 11, 2009
Aybar had a big ole grin on his face too right after the game as
the camera panned over to show the dugout. Only smiling guy I saw. I didn’t catch the Howie incident but yea that would have pissed me off too.
MH252525 - June 11, 2009
Oh, Oh,
Could Aybar and Kendrick be part of a game-throwing scheme? Considering how pretty much half the Angels come from Florida, it doesn’t seem unlikely that some of them maybe still owe the Cuban mafia there a few favors and had to throw the game.
ttsec - June 12, 2009
Well at least Thompson's ERA is getting to where it should be
Welcome to the Angels bullpen Thompson!
No disrespect to Thompson. It just must have sucked for him not to fit in with the rest of the gas cans.
hauldog - June 11, 2009
Blame of the game: THE WHOLE DAMN TEAM
TheAntiSox - June 11, 2009
