Angels, Loux Use The Force, Sweep A's

Final Score in Oakland: Angels 5, Athletics 3

The Angels finished a successful, if frustrating, 8-day road trip in style with a 5-2 record after a mini-sweep of division rival Oakland behind the pitching of Journeyman-turned-Jedi Shane Loux. The righthander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 7 innings pitched.

The bats at the top and bottom of the Angels' order came alive in the damp chill of the Death Star Coliseum, with lowly eight and nine hitters Juan Rivera and Erick Aybar scoring two runs apiece while Chone Figgins and Gary Matthews Jr. in the leadoff and #2 spots accounted for all 5 of the L.A. of Anaheim Ribbys.

While the reliable bats of Bobby Abreu and Mike Napoli left a combined eight men on base, they helped to make Oakland starter Dallas Braden throw 103 pitches in six innings.

Angels reliever Scot Shields was squeezed by a home plate umpire clearly betting on Oakland with bookies or perhaps stormtroopers back at a seedy Bay Area Cantina, but red leader #40, Brian Fuentes dropped the payload of the final two outs for his seventh save, giving Loux his 2nd win of the season and sending the Angels back to Southern California with the Halo lit at the Big A.

After the game, infielder Brandon Wood was sent to Triple A Salt Lake and outfielder Reggie Willits was called up to rejoin the club as it starts an eight game homestand Wednesday night.

and by sheet i meant form
Looks ilke it...

Maybe you forgot to hit submit…?

Future reference, there’s a link above the form to check 100% sure that it went through

i'll check it from now on

i hit submit and everything! gah… stupid google and their stupid plans to make me lose points.

I had the same problem...

…just have to check next time…

Next time and every time. :-)
I hate Shields!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have gotten a 3!

I like Shields

I would have gotten a 1

Well we both got 2's
i dont hate him but he ripped off my point
i like shields

because he gave me a 3 :)

Shields gave me 3 too!
Yeah, I was worried about grabbing my 3 when Oliver was dealing.

Then, Shields came in to start the bottom of the 9th and I grew one big smile…

When Loux finished the 7th,

I was happy to lose a point.

Was thinking the exact same thing

I wanted to lose a point. Almost posted it on the thread.

I am in awe of your superior headline-writing mojo, Rev
Only 2 games out

Who was it that thought our season was over?

April is over.......

thank god.

The list is long
I was one

I’m no longer in despair, though I don’t want to get my hopes up too much. Ultimately, it all depends on the health of Lackey and Santana. Without them being healthy and effective, though, a rotation that includes Palmer, Loux and Ortega isn’t going to get it done over the long haul (but major props to them for what they’ve accomplished thus far). With those two, though, the Halos probably have enough to win a weak division.

I don't think Palmer, Loux and Ortega ...

were EVER CONSIDERED as long haul replacements. That’s why the Angels didn’t go out and get a Pedro Martinez when everyone was demanding they do it — they figured they would roll the dice with the in-house replacements. They are only here until Santana and Lackey can get back into the mix.

it might be too many to overcome… NOT!

Loux for Panther

Man, we sure have a lot of fifth starters pitching like 2nd or 3rds.

willits up?

so says biggsy

guess there wont be many more DHing opportunities for napoli

unless they send down wood for one

biggys gave an opinion

that Angels could be “showcasing” reggie….hmmmm.

That's the only logical rationale I can see for the callup

Anyone see another one?

Day off for Torii?
GMJ plays center

Juan in left, Abreu in right, Nappy/Wood/Maicer at DH.

still no reason for Willits to be called up

On second thought. . .

maybe this has something to do with Abreu’s back stiffness.

This station is now the ultimate power in the universe...

I suggest we use it.

P.S. Check out D.O.’s pitching performance in the 8th. Sweet.

poor brandon.........he's gonna get his shot soon.....hopefully he doesnt let this affect

him
