Lunch Question: Favorite way to eat ice cream, favorite flavor...
Tonight in Oakland, Joe Saunders (and an extra day of rest) faces Brett Anderson, one of those lefty groundball dribbler types who gives the Angels so many headaches. He had a blister on his finger and was given an extra day in the rotation to let it heal (big baby) and yesterday's 15-inning chokathon puts the Athletics at a slight pitching disadvantage (which will disappear the minute the Angels use any pitcher beyond Hokie Joe).

Coffee...
Specifically Breyer’s Coffee.
Although 31 Flavors Jamoca Almond Fudge is good, too.
red floyd - May 4, 2009
what a champ i love jamoca almond fudge
wish they’d take out the almonds though sometimes. breyers has a limited edition mud pie flavor of coffee, brownie bits, and fudge…mmmmmm

Coffee is the worst
I remember one time when I was young and my dad took us to Baskin Robbins and for some inexplicable reason I decided to try coffee flavored ice cream. I was so disgusted by the taste that I threw it out on the spot and was so sad that I wasted a trip to get ice cream on that terrible flavor. I have not been able to consume anything remotely coffee flavored since.
turs12 - May 4, 2009
Opposite
It took me until I was an adult (law school, to be precise) to start actually liking coffee. Or maybe that’s just when I got addicted and started thinking that I like it. But even as a little kid, I always loved the smell of coffee. My favorite ice cream flavor was (and is) actually two: Haagen Dazs chocolate and coffee, a scoop of each, kinda smushed together.

working as a barista in high school is what hooked me on coffee

On a divan, in a silk robe.
Mint chip.
Higz - May 4, 2009
+1...with BIG choclate chips...
…no divan or silk robe…not on me anyway. A napkin bib is helpful…

New Flavor
Ben and Jerrry’s has a new flavor: Creme Brulee
I eat this straight out of the cardboard pint. It has a ribbon of sugar in it. Awesome.

Have you ever seen anyone pissed off eating ice cream???
The world needs more ice cream…or gelato…
sothball - May 4, 2009
Only if someone or "something" tries to steal it...
like that guy in Newport that recently killed a rare gull that tried to steal his wife’s ice cream. Earned himself a nice $275 fine.

Justifiable gull-icide...

Cookie dough!!
angelsown3417 - May 4, 2009
cookies in cream and/or chocolate w/ brownie
in a cup, not a cone.
Anyone else been to the 31c scoop nights at baskin robbin?
AnaheimHalos61 - May 4, 2009
Ben & Jerry's
Either Coffee, Coffee, Buzz, Buzz, Buzz or Cherry Garcia but most B&J flavors are excellent. Never had one I didn’t like. Only ones that I like more than others. In a cup or actually, in a coffee mug works better!
DaBigKahuna - May 4, 2009
Do they still make Rainforest Crunch?
God that was good
Higz - May 4, 2009
vanilla with cookie crumbs and peanut butter cups.
I also make a strawberry shake that beats any restaurants with fresh vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries and some milk. I think i might make one tomorrow.
acuda27 - May 4, 2009
Even though their a bunch of hold-overs from the Age of Aquarius...
Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk. I’m completely anal about my ice cream. First, I put the container out for about 20 minutes to let it soften. Then I put a couple of scoops in a ceramic dish. Then I put the dish back in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
After that, I pull it out of the freezer. The ceramic cold ceramic now keeps the ice cream nice and chilled for the entire eating experience!
3rd Echelon - May 4, 2009
you can wait that long? sadistic, aren't you?
ladybug - May 4, 2009
IRONICALLY
The Age of Aquarius is about 200 years off.
Rev Halofan - May 4, 2009
Chocolate Chip Mint
in a cone.
All other flavors pale in comparison, in my opinion
billhune - May 4, 2009
Hate Ice Cream...as with most sweets.
I have weird reactions to super sweet things. Therefore, I stay away from desserts mostly. This, as you can probably tell, immediately becomes a topic of conversation come dessert time at any family function.
annoying! give me a beer…thats my idea of a dessert.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - May 4, 2009
I've actually had beer flavored Ice Cream
In Texas – - Both Shiner Bock and Guinness – - separate occassions, both were surprisingly good! the Guinness was the better though…so smooth..

Nothing yet, but getting hungry...
…working from home today.
During this morning’s shower I listened to the new Seattle (mothership broadcasting network) and the local yahoos were gloating over the M’s come from behind victory yesterday in 15 innings. Yeah for them! :( Anyway, the locals are all excited about the M’s again.
Seattle sports have sucked so badly the last couple years they will latch onto anything! The new slogan they are promoting is “Wakamojo” as a play on Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu and the tired SoDo Mojo slogan from years past.
Please Angels, get your shit in a pile quickly. I can’t take much more of the local bandwagoneers here in Seattle!
K3YEROUT - May 4, 2009
...looks like you are shifting to an exclamation point diet...
sothball - May 4, 2009
:)
HEY, I purposely only used 3 in this post! :P
Oh, and in a waffle cone is the only way to go! (exclamation point) :)
K3YEROUT - May 4, 2009
ok, it was only 2, but I meant to use 3…
K3YEROUT - May 4, 2009
LOL...and no, I'm not going to end with an exclamation point...
sothball - May 4, 2009

I listened to that game, and now the A's fans have pitchforks after Beane and Geren big time.
They hate Holliday and Giambi now too. Hysterical.
44FAN - May 4, 2009
B-R Mint Chip
in a “sit-down cone”.
When I was little they came out with the waffle-type cones, but I liked the ones you could ‘sit down’ on the table, so that’s what I asked for.

although, Ralphs used to have a store brand version that I loved even more than the b&j but I havent seen it in a long time
caangelsaokay - May 4, 2009
As Noted Above
the combo of Haagen Dazs chocolate and coffee, in a bowl, does the trick for me. Also, Fresh Peach ice cream (only in season) from Fosselmann’s in Alhambra.
And a now-defunct place in Paris had a great passion fruit ice cream, best enjoyed along with a scoop of mango.
jjackflash - May 4, 2009
Quarterback Crunch at Baskin Robbins!!!
But I can never find it anymore. That was the best ice cream.

I actually like the chipwich they sell at Anaheim Stadium
I know it’s not B&J or Hagen Daaz, but it’s a guilty pleasure.
That photo was taken either at Yankee Stadium during the rain delay on Sunday (they were selling a kazillion of those ponchos) or Saturday before the game (the hat was a give away on Saturday…the Sunday hat was different) in the expensive (no other kind) lodge seats.

that stuff is awesome!
howiestheman - May 4, 2009
sorryif this sounds like a youppie
but i will take pinkberry over coldstone.
Rev Halofan - May 4, 2009
ahhhh
pinkberry looks a lot like Nubi, which is a yogurt place by my house.
and i’d take that over Coldstone as well.
howiestheman - May 4, 2009
nope
I don’t like “stuff” in my ice cream (I’m exceedingly particular about that); aside from that, though, Cold Stone leaves a very strange and unpleasant feeling in my mouth. I suspect it’s all of the stabilizers they use (Polysorbate 80, mono and diglycerides, guar gum, cellulose gum, carrageenan).
