Lackey Stunk, Angels Sunk, Mariners Win

Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Mariners 5, Angels 2

(Rev Halofan Reporting): Jason Vargas turned out to be something the Mets sure could use, but he is a Mariner now and pitched better than Felix Hernandez, Jarrod Washburn or Erick Bedard. Who is the other Mariner Pitcher he pitched better than? I mean the other TEN pitchers from Seattle. Seattle pitchers have been the watermelon seeds of major league baseball: unwanted, unusable, in the way and they clog up your dishwasher of more than three of them appear in the game or your drain.

But Jason Vargas was a Met, explaining why he was able to pitch so well despite wearing the pitching kryptonite that is a Mariners jersey.

Meanwhile, Juan Rivera can fly and hit homers and John Lackey can give up 3 runs in an inning of infield singles and falls behind Matt Palmer on the team's depth chart in the process. Vlad and Napoli look fat and lost.

Anything else? Oh yeah, hey everybody, Texas took a double header from the Athletics (Oakland, the team Rob Neyer said would win the AL West and who currently have the worst record in the American League), so we are now 4.5 games behind the Rangers. Right where we were when the Rangers swept us.

I blame Howie......

since I cant blame Aybar…..

I don't even know who to blame...

how sad is that?

I blame Hatcher for that BS gameplan vs the soft tossing lefty!

Sullivan2

dude,

i hope you are married or have a girlfriend

Jeff would never spell Russel BRanyan's name wrong

Maybe someone close to him who likes this team will comment about the choice of undies.

I Blame Lackey for not throwing at Ichiro...

Oh, and the fact Quinlan was not in the line up.

I blame Lackey

he gave up the runs. I have know idea how all those little hits turned into doubles for Seattle.

LET'S SHOW THIS TO ICHIRO

Dude

I have throw ups in that tunnel.

TKO

Glad I missed this one
Juan Rivera robbed a homer

thats freaking amazing.

that being said, what the hell happened to Mike Napoli?! i think there’s something wrong with his stance or something… he hasn’t had a hit in a long time.

hey someone good with stats – how many times has a player hit a homer and robbed a homer in the same game? is that common?

Hello, Napoli has ALWAYS been streaky as hell
yeah

but good lord… this is no bueno

I guess they don't do any scouting in the minor leagues.

I can’t come up with anything else to explain Howie Kendrick.

The guy hits .370 or something like that every year in every level of the minors.

He comes up to the big show, and after everyone sees his first few hundred AB’s, they learn to throw him breaking stuff away. Not exactly rocket science.

I’m sick of watching it. Nevertheless I don’t understand what the scouting reports are like in the minors; perhaps they simply don’t exist.

He did hit .300 for his first 1000 major league at bats

Sure, you could still get him out on curveballs away, but he’d hit enough of the other stuff to compensate. No more.

Howie sucks.

Napoli needs to get it together. He is ice fuckin cold.

Lackey is just decreasing his value making it more affordable to keep him. Good thing or bad thing, who knows…Probably a good thing though.

Rivera was sick tonight, but that throw home on Branyon for the fourth run was a joke. I mean come on. Throw it like you got a pair man.

I've taken the liberty of compiling pregame guesses results for Friday's game....

….although they are obviously unofficial and subject to adjustment (like for not posting in the comments)

Trade Guerrero

for Strassburg.

Kendrick is a disgrace

I’m tired of hearing about how he’s a “future batting champion”. It’s not gonna happen. Batting champs can hit curveballs.

Things are NOT looking up

we have NO more excuses left
Everyone’s back, and the only difference is that Vlad will be more solid. But, ……..

Lackey is lacking this year and he knows it. You can see Big John on edge. Juan Rivera and Kendry Morales are proving themselves to be two VERY valuable additions to our line-up and important pieces to our future puzzle. Our CURRENT core pieces need to start producing, tho.

I am sad

I want the Angels to get it together.
