The Bad News is that it is hard to argue with SI.Com's ranking the Angels #14 in the major leagues in their weekly MLB POWER RANKINGS. We have won a game or two since SI's Tim Keith compiled those rankings, so hopefully the team will be moving up the charts.
The Good News is that in their commentary on the Angels in that ranking, SI.COM saw fit to throw props to Halos Heaven, specifically raving about Jim Gardner (WiHalofan)'s daily A Day at the Park cartoon as an antidote for Angels fans during an unexpectedly rough first quarter of the 2009 season. Halos Heaven headlines are now linked as features on the SI.Com Angels Team Page, the Yahoo Sports Angels Team Page and the CBS Sports Angels Team Page.
Welcome to Halos Heaven if you are a new visitor. Beyond Jim's entertaining cartoons, we have lots of great news, game threads, analysis, opinions and features. From Stirrups posting flowcharts to Scottnak tabulating the world's most Halo-iffic guessing game, to insightful contributions from many of our over 2,200 registered users, just look around and there is no disputing that if you are reading this you have arrived at the center of the Halosphere. Getting some press, movin’ up in the world
Seik1177 - May 21, 2009
2,200?????
Day-am! How many did we have in 2006? I feel as though this place has literally gone from Orange Groves to city blocks since I’ve been here…
Congrats, Rev!
Clutch - May 21, 2009
i just looked you up, Clutch,
You registered May 24, 2006 and were user #428.
Oh god, now wait until everyone wants to know their number.
And wait until that rival blog starts announcing inflated numbers… ahhh… If you have a macintosh with a “status bar” browser command, you can drag your unclicked mouse over the registered users of that “other site” and see their assigned number. They just passed 1,300 users the other day.
Rev Halofan - May 22, 2009
Hey Rev
Whats my number? jk man
angelsown3417 - May 22, 2009
1208
newbie.
Downing Rules - May 22, 2009
Oh man
Didn’t think of that…come to think of it, I’m remembering that you used to be able to see your number by scrolling over your name…I assume that went away when the server switch/new format happened?
Clutch - May 22, 2009
upgraded SBN tech is Ezzackly the reason
Still, other sites want to party like its 1999 so let ’em…
Rev Halofan - May 22, 2009
that "other" site can kiss an ass
just not MY ass, cause I don’t want cyber-herpes. that place is a den of inequity and slackjawed ignorance.
HaloDutch - May 22, 2009
How come I can look at his profile and see HIS UID number, but if I look at my own profile I see no such number. Rev, you are #3 by the way. Can someone click my name below this post and tell me my number?
Downing Rules - May 22, 2009
I cant see yours either man
angelsown3417 - May 22, 2009
It shows
your Rams UID as 86, but doesn’t show anything under your Angels membership thing. Weird.
lightupthehalo - May 22, 2009
I think I know why you number her is obscured
Didn’t we have the admins change your name at some point, this is REAL early on. I am shiocked I even recall that, I can’t tell you what I ate for dinner on Wednesday night.
Rev Halofan - May 22, 2009
I had Del Taco that night, but I do faintly recall like a lower case issue or a combined name issue. No biggie. I’ve been here a while and piss a few people off. That’s all that counts.
Downing Rules - May 22, 2009
"I’ve been here a while and piss a few people off. That’s all that counts."
A good overall life philosophy
HaloDutch - May 23, 2009
I agree - This place has taken off since the 06 season when I started coming here as well
Back then it was like Cheers – eveyeyone knows your name. Now its a huge metropolitan city.
Which is still cool – the growth has been exponential though – Congrats Rev. Hopefully they pay you someday!
gorams77 - May 22, 2009
Pretty soon
you will be invited up on the rock pile before/after games to hunt for panthers that lurk in them parts.
I’m number 6. Woop-Pee
eyespy - May 22, 2009
NUMBER 6???
I’m #3 – two tech guys at SBN are 1 and 2, Missus Halofan is like #4, yeswecan is #5, cupie is #8… wow, wear that single digit with PRIDE, Panther Pride!
Rev Halofan - May 22, 2009
Didn't know it was for the whole SB Nation
WOW.
eyespy - May 22, 2009
No, you are 6 on HH. Athletics Nation was the first (IIRC) to migrate over to the new format. Rev meant that the techs who migrated HH to the new format were the first 2 ID’s registered at HH.
Downing Rules - May 22, 2009
Number 14 here ...
Dang … just missed single digit bragging rights …
I remember HH back when it was a blawg on *ahem*livejournal*ahem*, before this fancy dancy newfangeled SBN thingy.
lightupthehalo - May 22, 2009
Damn, I feel like a newbie now...

TheTypingFiend - May 22, 2009
You are #6
What do you want?
Information
You won’t get it.
By hook, or by crook, we will
red floyd - May 22, 2009
Angels starting to gain some MO' plenty of room aboard the bandwagon again I suppose.
norcaliangelsfan - May 22, 2009
more long-overdue pub for HH
HaloDutch - May 22, 2009
HH is also linked through iGoogle.
If you put the Angels as one of your teams.
That’s how I found it in the first place.
red floyd - May 22, 2009
Just Another Halo Blog!
Found this site a little bit before the switch via Chronicles of the Lads. Diaries anyone? I dont know if I registered before the switch however.
anaheim angels - May 22, 2009
I found HH through Chronicles as well… the article about the collapse of 1995. Amazingly vivid diary of the 1995 collapse.

A note on the quality of posts...
On Wednesday morning (5/20), Matt Welch posted "The Brandon Wood F.U. Memorial Lineup". It was a post about the slugging-percentage anemic Angel line-up for Wednesday’s game, and how ridiculous it is to have a power hitting SS languishing in the minors. So what happened? The Angels went out that night and collected all of 3 hits (all singles), no runs against a forgettable RHP (ERA coming in over 6.00) and a couple of mop-up relievers. Final score? 1-0, Angels lose. Santana gets "credited" with a loss for an outstanding pitching performance.
But wait! There’s more…
On Thursday night, the Angels managed only 2 more hits than the previous night…a total of 5. But they managed to win 3-0. The difference? 3 of the 5 hits were home runs!!! Talk about slugging percentage!
The point of Matt’s post could not have been made any better by the events of the 2 games that followed his post.
I defy anyone to find a post any more timely and prescient. Quality man…quality.
sothball - May 22, 2009
We need mroe posts about Quinlan.
We gotta get him going
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - May 22, 2009
Tough to get him AB’s and without AB’s he cannot establish any consistency.
Downing Rules - May 22, 2009
also, he sucks
HaloDutch - May 22, 2009
I beg to differ and so does Scioscia. It is just that the people in front of him are better options. Kendry is really starting to pick it up; as such there is little need for Q.
Downing Rules - May 22, 2009
I love watching Q swing
I point it out to all my friends.
They get jealous.
TheTypingFiend - May 22, 2009
14th?!?
I don’t think that’s a fair ranking. Very few teams could have withstood the injuries and tragedy that we did. Our bullpen appears to have stabilized, our key guys have returned or soon will return, and we are since 16-8 after a 6-11 start. Barring any setbacks, we are still one of the very best teams.
