Tragedy Strikes Angels

There are confirmed reports Angels pitcher, Nick Adenhart was killed in a traffic accident in Fullerton shortly after midnight.

Adenhart2_medium

According to this article from Adenharts hometown newspaper,

"NBC25 - Williamsport High School graduate Nick Adenhart, a pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, died early this morning in a car accident in Fullerton, California, according to a family member.

Three people were killed in the crash and another person was seriously injured.

Authorities are blaming the three-vehicle accident on a motorist in a mini-van who ran a red light at East Orangethorpe Avenue and South Lemon Street."

Foremost, our most heartfelt condolences go out to Nick's family and friends.  Just 22 years-old and taken from us all.

Two others died in the crash, both passengers in the same car as Adenhart.  Neither of which were members of the Angels' organization.

I am just hearing this right now...

…I hope this is same how a big mistake…

FUCK!

I can’t believe that shit.

AM 830 is talking about it too

fuck this is real.

Stunned

No idea what to think or feel right now.

So Sad.

Heard late last night, via somebody in the chain of information, but couldn’t post it. I’m still absolutely shocked.

I feel so sick to my stomach
This is absolutely nuts...

I’m in shock. My heart goes out to the adenhart family and families of the others involved. Is there anything we can do as a community to help here?

I agree

i dont know what to do, but we need to do something

I feel so bad for his family

On a night that should have been tremendous for the Adenhart family is now only tragedy.

Oh dear Jesus, how awful, awful awful
This is terrible. The kid was just getting his life started and now's its taken away from him.
complete shock, horrible
I can't focus

Stuck here at work all day. I can’t focus at all. I feel so saddened by this.

I got tickets to tonight’s game. Will they still play??? I couldn’t imagine being a teammate and having to go compete after this news.

I'm in the same boat

Can’t really focus on anything right now.

I have to think tonight’s game will be postponed.

I'm right there with you
I'm in absolute shock

They need to cancel the game tonight. I absolutely can’t believe this. I want it to be a nightmare and wake up to normal news.

My prayers will be with the Adenhart family and the Angels.

I agree

We play the A’s so many times, this can easlily be made up.

I agree

Aren’t they supposed to be inducting Chuck Finley into the Angel Hall of Fame tonight. Can’t really be a joyous occasion.

Absolutely

I couldn’t imagine having to go out there and play after my teammate died the night before. They just can’t play tonight.

I saw the news a couple different places just a few minutes ago

I was hoping it was just a sick, twisted, late April Fool’s joke.

exact thougts

…. unfortunately ? not… I watched the game last night… totally and utterly " stuck " in my tracks right now

That's unbelievable

What terrible, terrible news.

horrible

after pitching great last night

that idiot driver killed 3 people and affected families due to some wreckless mistake…he’ll get what he deserves

Unbelievable

Stunned

Just hearing this now

What a terrible stupid tragedy. My heart goes out to the families of all involved. I’m sick.

Man, this is just not good at all. Fan and young player die in the same series. Horrible, horrible.

im sick to my stomach

a selfish act has devastated the adenhart and halo family! im at a loss for words…..

OMG! This is unbelievable!

I’m speechless. My condolences go out to his whole family, and the Angel family.

Unbelievable.

There was another Angel in the car. Not named per the report I am reading.

Oh god

Are you saying another Angel player was in the car? Oh my god.

what?????????????

OC Register’s story says two people in Adenhart’s car. So maybe????

they said someone in the angels organization

not specifically a player

yes and dead

We’re told one of the other men killed in the crash was also affiliated with the Angels organization.

http://www.tmz.com/2009/04/09/angels-starting-pitcher-killed-after-ball-game/

Sorry for the TMZ link but that is ehat my buddy sent me

oh my word...

no…. can’t be…

According to the release they read on AM830

Tim Mead said there was no other Angel in the car. No one affiliated with the Angels. I still feel terrible for those innocents in the cars.

Felony hit and run from what I am hearing.

2 deaths in 2 days

3 people killed in the crash

crazy…mustve been really high impact

Tragic

Unbelieveable. Heart goes out to the family

..don't want to hear the message from my ears...

My God. My God. RIP Nick.
Beyond despair.
May your family and friends find comfort in searching to understand that which cannot be understood.

please find out what we can do for the Adenhart family.

Condolences

to family, team, and fans, if I may be so bold as to speak on behalf of Ranger fans over at Lone Star Ball.

Rangers Nation

sends its’ deepest regrets and our thoughts and prayers are with you

Tossing my hat in the ring here...

Rivalries cease to exist when these events happen.

RIP from a Rangers fan

simply awful news. Puts things in perspective.

Condolonces to the Adenhart family

And the entire Angels community. Senseless, awful, and sickening. The whole of LSB and the Newberg report are sickened by this horrible news. Prayers for all concerned.

Condolences from a Cardinal Fan

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Adenhart family, the Angels organization, and fans. Horrible, awful news. RIP

again...

I can’t help but ask…

Is there anything that we as a community can do?
Tshirt with proceeds going to some fund?
Website that gets money for each click to go to his family?

I have to think that as a solid community we can do something here.

im sure you could get other sbn blogs to help out too
Good heart

But not the right time. I think we need to find out what happened, get the details confirmed and examine what the needs truly will be.

That's true...

I guess that’s just how I deal with this.

Well, Halos Heaven seems like an appropriate place to honor his life

And keep his memory alive.

AMEN

I don’t add comments too often though I read and watch… I agree, " right now " isn’t the time though there will be a time when we all learn more how and what we can do for Halos Heaven " is " Family too…

RIP…thoughts are with you guys and Nick’s family. I was looking forward to watching his career.

Deepest condolences from Lookout Landing and Mariners fans

What a senseless tragedy, and we’re all truly, truly sorry for your loss. Things should never be like this. RIP

Seconding this

Rivalries are so trivial in tragedies like this. Thoughts and prayers to the friends, family, organization and to you Angels fans.

It's always easy to get caught up in the emotions of watching the game

I have the deepest sympathies for the Adenhart family and regrets that I will not get to see Nick making me curse up a storm for the next decade as should have occurred. I will be borrowing my buddies Angels hate to where to day in memorial. My thoughts go out to all of you who knew Adenhart personally, enjoyed watching him play, or was excited about the promise he held

Another Lookout Landing/Mariner Central guy - I'm so sorry for you guys.

My heart goes out to the team and Adenhart family. What a terrible situation.

Never ever ever. This is truly something beyond the baseball field.

My sympathies and thoughts go out to all those involved.

We heard about this over in Reds country

We’re all saddened and shaken by this terrible news. Our thoughts to go out to Adenhart’s family and to that of the other Angel involved, as well as the other victims. We also extend our sympathies to the team and the fans.

R.I.P.

RIP

From another Reds fan, condolences. I’m shaken to the core over this.

Another Red's fan....

The loss of someone so young and talented is beyond understanding. The savage stupidity of this event is tragic for all concerned. When will we learn that a vehicle + alcohol is a lethal combination. Sympathy and condolences to all.

Just awful news.

Unreal..

My heart goes out to his family and to all of you

There aren’t any words for this kind of tragedy. You’ll all be in my thoughts.

God bless.

Sometimes, baseball just doesn’t matter. Condolences to the Adenhart family and to the Angels and all their caring fans.

Very sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family, friends, the Angels organization and fans.
Is the Angel of Death looming over Angels Stadium?

Tragedy after Tragedy keeps occuring. Wtf!

Condolances

I’m not an Angels fan, but I just happened to read this and had to comment. I want to say that my condolances and prayers go out to Nick Adenhart’s family, friends, the Angels organization as well as anyone else who might’ve been affected in any way by this young man, and any other victim of this crash and their familes and friends. I think it puts things into perspective and is a sombering reminder of just how little baseball really means in the grand scheme of life. It also is a reminder that we should live every day like it’s our last because you never know when that day will come. And it is with tears in my eyes that I say this: RIP Nick Adenhart and anyone else who may have died in this crash.

Condolences from a Ranger Fan.

God Bless all of those affected by this. I am so very sad right now.

and me

I’ll be praying for the family.

Ranger fan here...

hate this! hate to hear this type of news. Life is just so fragile.Praying for his family and for the entire Angel Organization and its fans. Hate this crap man!

Horrible news

I’m just shocked about this.. I can’t believe I was just watching him pitch last night, cheering against him, and now this. Makes baseball seem so small and insignificant after something like this.

My condolences to the Adenhart family, angels org and fans.

Unbelievable

The myFoxLA video says the van driver fled the scene but was later apprehended.

oh my god

i want to cry right now

RIP Nick

I'm right there with you brother.

Another A's fan here.

Deepest condolences – such a tragedy.

Thoughts and prayers with the Angels and the Angels’ extended family from St. Louis.

Agreed. The Cardinals have lost two players on the active roster in the last seven years. It’s not easy.

Condolences.

RIP Nick. from a Rangers fan.

very sorry for your loss.

Iam deeply saddened by this news

Iam truly saddened by this news, iam a big Yankee fan and my hopes and prayers go out to the Angels organization, the fans, and of course to the Adenhart family. MLB has lost a great young man and baseball player.

Had to join Halos Haven to write this

but somehow, traversing into “enemy” territory seems petty and trite right now.
We are all baseball fans and human beings, and this is a terrible tragedy. I am
sorry to all Angels fans, to Nick’s family and the families of all killed. Just a ridiculous waste of life.

+ a whole bunch to this

Every day, we say a lot of petty stuff about “the enemy”, “the bad guys” etc. And when you hear something like this it really throws all of that out the window.

My thoughts and prayers to the family of all of those injured or killed in this accident. ITS OK TO BE 5 MINUTES LATE-DONT RUN RED LIGHTS!

RIP

Terrible loss.

i was ready to get on this site today and have everybody bitch...

about last night’s game then to see this. this absolutely heartbreaking! my thoughts and prayers are with his family and anybody else closely related to this tragedy. we’ll miss you saint nick.

Can’t even begin to wrap my mind around this

RIP Nick.

Right there with ya

I’ve been in the office for over an hour. I can’t focus. I just keep staring and this thread and watching the comments.

Man this is just terrible

Just 22…and after such a great night for him. My prayers are with him and his family.

Condolences from an A's fan.

I’m stunned and horrified. He had improved so much from last year and had a very bright future. And 22 is so unbelievably young.

Condolences from a Mets fan.

This is unbelievable. I stayed up to watch him pitch last night and now he’s gone. What a terrible tragedy.

RIP Nick.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Nick

RIP

I hope this douche...

…who ran the red light is put in jail for a long time!

My deepest condolences

from this Orioles fan. Incredibly sad day.

I was saving it, but there's no other word...

FUCK! How horrible! Goes to show how things can change in a matter of minutes. RIP Nick. My prayers are with you, your family, and the entire Angel community.

R.I.P. Nick.

What a good pitcher with bright future.

I Read about it this morning on Lone Star Ball (Rangers)

This was so sad, a young guy in the start of his life to end like this, my prayers are with his family, friends, team mates and the Angels Nation

I just watched this kid throw a great game...

last night. When I saw the news this morning I thought it was a bad dream. I didn’t even finish watching the game.

I seriously hope they postpone today's game.

Some things are way more important than baseball.

Condolences from Brew Crew Ball fan.

Seconded. So sad and only 22 years old with a good career ahead of him.

From a LL Mariners fan, strongest condolences and I hope the driver of that van BURNS MOTHERF***ER BURNS.

Blowing through a red light late at night? What do you want to bet he was hammered or high? Even if he wasn’t, the petty man in me looks forward to his life being derailed forever, even as Nick goes onto a better reward.

agrees

what a stupid way to go. some people don’t deserve to live in place of others.

Condolences from a Rangers fan

This is just terrible.

From a Cubs fan...

…my sincere condolences to his family, friends, teammates, the Angels organization and all of you.

Man...

What a shame. Condolences to all the families of those lost in this tragic accident.

God Bless

God Bless to a future star and a man with a great heart…..

You’ll always be remembered Nick Adenhart

Fuck man. This is just horrible.
I am completely gutted today

the poor, poor kid and his family.

Godspeed Nick.

Why is there nothing

on the Angels’ official site about the Brian Powers killing?

I think they're preparing a press release. ???

From OCRegister.com:
“A person answering the phone at his grandfather’s home in Fairplay, Md., said the Angels were holding a news conference later today.”

Sorry I misread your comment...
There is

Here

No, that's Brian Powers
Ignore me.

I thought OP was asking about Nick.

I made the same mistake!
That's what he was asking for
Thanks,

I missed it before, and it’s not on the front page.

He replied to a question re: Powers.
Damn Damn Damn

After such a solid performance last night, the season will be dedicated to him, the game has to be cancelled tonight

wow

this is awful. My heart and condolences go out to the families affected by this. People shouldn’t die this young.

Such a tragedy.

Condolences from LSB.

Condolences from a Tigers fan

There is no greater tragedy than a good man dying young. God rest his soul.

From a Cubs fan...

God Bless and condolences to the families and teammates for their loss in this tragic accident.

just numb right now

dont know how to work today. my thoughts are with everyone. i will try to write moe poignant later. oh dear god.

From a Rangers Fan

This is a terrible, terrible loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, the Angles organization, and the fans.

This is horrible.

I’m in total shock. As a fan photographer for the Angels, I don’t know how I’d be able to work tonight’s game, so I can only imagine how the players must feel. This is such a horrible, horrible tragedy.

unbelievable

i am completely in shock.

Visiting from South Side Sox...

I am so, so sorry to hear this. As the father of two daughters in their 20’s, I can imagine what his parents are feeling. That he was a baseball player is secondary, he was a child to them first.
Unbelievably sad.

God bless you Nick Adenhart!
Condolences from an Orioles fan

I don’t know what to say, my God…..

KTLA says the driver of the van was drunk

this is why nobody should ever be STUPID and SELFISH enough to do something like that.

From a Rangers fan.

What a horrible thing to happen to anyone, but such a young guy with so much talent. I got to watch him pitch last night, then I we all wake up to this. It just makes me sick.

From LSB

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of Nick. Such a sad and terrible tragedy.

Nick Will Shine Over our Team Forever!

This incident is why I don’t drink, fuck the piece of shit who killed Nick and his entourage.

From a Mariners fan

Terrible. Horrible. Shocking. Nick Adenhart was a great young pitcher and there’s no way to describe the loss of 3-4 people as anything but tragic. Prayers go out to him and his family and all those who knew him.

Here’s hoping the tool who killed these people with their car gets life in prison.

To everyone in the Angels organization, the fans, the players,

the executives, the managers, and most importantly the families of the 3 killed…

My condolences and prayers go out to you.

What a tragic accident, and to think, he had so much promise. I’m stunned. Just stunned.

From a Cubs fan, please accept my thoughts and prayers for such a senseless tragedy.

Rangers Fan...

All rivalry aside, my condolences.

From a Red Sox fan

Our thoughts go out to the families of the departed and the Angels community at large.

I can't decide between anger and grief

I pray that God has taken Nick to be with Him in a better place, and I will pray for Nick’s family. There aren’t adequate words for this type of tragedy.

At the same time, I am dismayed at human beings that make decisions that cause these events. IF YOU DRINK – DO NOT FUCKING DRIVE.

Go with the grief

As it will lead to anger anyway.

I agree with Sethy

Grief is the way to go here. That drunk’s life is now fucked anyways.

No need to choose...both are appropriate given the circumstances.
It is like Mike Miley, all over again

What a horrible, horrible shame. The kid was going to put it together this year, and instead if snuffed by someone who can’t control a car.

Prayers to the Adenhart family, as well as his passengers.

So weird

I listened to the Angels pre-game twice last night while working a night shift and heard Adenharts pre-game interview, well, twice. I kept thinking how solemn he sounded, like he just came from a funeral or something. Now this. Its just weird.

Just goes to point out how fragile human life can be, and how you need to stop and smell the roses whenever you can.

RIP Nick, we will miss you.

This is so terrible

Although I didn’t personally know him, I feel like we just lost a close friend. I am really upset. this is just so tragic

Absolutely the same feeling

Sick to my stomach in disbelief. Poor guy. Rest in peace, Nick.

Jesus. I don't know what to say.

God bless, Nick. RIP.

RIP Nick

I’m a Rangers fan and all of us at lonestarball are thinking about Nick and the Angel’s family today.

From another Rangers fan

I run a Rangers fan site at www.rangerfans.com

I had this to say – it’s long, so I’ll just link over to my site.

http://www.rangerfans.com/archives/2009/04/angels_pitcher_nick_adenheart_killed.html

Thanks

Very well written and moving Joe.

Mariners fan here.

This is simply awful news. My heart goes out to the family of those young player, and all of you guys as well. This is just utterly tragic and I hope MLB suspends all games today as a fitting tribute to a young man who has been taken away from us.

I don’t like the Angels, but today we are ALL Angels fans.

RIP Adenhart.

A's fan

RIP young man. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Nice to see the coming together of fans... really nice.

but man, I am really crying for Nick and his family. God be with him and them. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

Nick was excellent last night

this goes beyond baseball. what a tragic loss of a young life. condolances.

Its hard to care about baseball anymore
They got the driver
The driver of the van, Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22, fled the scene, according to police. Gallo, of Riverside, was later arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run.

OCR

May he burn in hell

They need to string this piece of shit up by his balls. Who the fuck walks away from an accident like this?

the wrong one died
the wrong 3 died!

1 person’s wrong choice led to 3 deaths!

GIANTS FAN HERE

Sorry to Angel Nation and especially to the Adenhart family.

God Bless

What a shame...

Condolences from a Brewers fan.. I hope justice finds the hit and run and lock them away for a very very long time.

From an A's fan...

Words fail me at a time like this.

Rest In Peace Nick Adenhart

My thoughts are with the family and fans.

And suddenly baseball doesn't seem that important...

Horrible news. I’m stunned right now. May God bless the Adenhart family at this beyond difficult time.

So sad.

My heart is going to be heavy today. You’ll be missed by all Angels Nation, Nick.

Sure puts things into perspective.

Condolences from a Cardinals fan

It’s a tragedy of the worst kind. We have felt this twice this decade, so I know how you all feel. It’s tough. Baseball takes a backseat. It resets your priorities.

I don’t know anything about Adenhart, but it sounds like he was a tremendous ballplayer.

Thoughts and prayers from Cardinal nation.

JD

The other guy that died was part of the Angels organization

The identities of the other victims have not been revealed, but TMZ reports that “one of the other men killed in the crash was also affiliated with the Angels organization.”

The guy who ran the red light should be jailed for life, meanwhile this idiot who ran the light left the scene and left but thankfully the police got him. From all us Yankee fans we are very sorry for the entire Angels organization, the fans, and the Adenhart family. I hope the Angels start a foundation for Nick in his honor, i would be really happy if the entire Yankee organization donated money to a foundation for Nick if the Angels decide to make one or if Nicks family wants to make a foundation in his honor. This is a terrible day in MLB i hope this is a big eye opener to people out there that your life can change in a matter of minutes. RIP Nick

From all of us Yankees fans.

This can't be real

Reports are saying there was another player in the car but won’t release the name. Condolances to the family and friends of whomever that player is. May God grant eternal rest to Adenhart and the other victim(s) and may justice be served on that Andrew Thomas Gallo idiot. RIP Nick Adenhart and ohter victims. This is not fair

not necessarily a player...

but maybe a guy like a trainer or something. Regardless, the driver that made the mistake has killed 3 and one more person is in critical condition. Hope he/she can pull through and stabilize.

Condolences from an M's fan..

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Adenhart family as well as his extended families here at HH and all Halos fans out there. Baseball player or not, he was much much to young to suffer this fate and hopefully the one responsible for this is brought to justice.

RIP Nick from all M’s fans.

From a Rays fan....

Condolences to Nick’s family and not just Angel’s fans, but all baseball fans. There are thousands of players that are constantly competing on a day to day basis to get where Nick was and I’m happy for him that he was able to make there, especially with an organization as classy as the Angels. It’s a sad day indeed when we lose one of our own.

Totally Stunned...

After him pitching his heart out last night, to have this happen is unbelievable. My heart has to go out to everyone involved in the whole organization, I don’t even know how to deal with this.

And to all the fans of every other MLB team, the Angels Fans thank you. Good to see that baseball is a family and a community.

Rangers fan here

condolences. we all knew he was going to be a beast and would be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. can never see something like this coming. just tragic.

i wonder if they can make room next to the preston patch

for a nick patch :(

I haven't been an Angels fan in a long time...

…but I can’t help but wish the organization well after a tragedy like this. It’s so wrong when a bright future is snuffed out due to another’s stupidity.

R.I.P. Adenhart.

Checking in from Salt Lake City

Great baseball player in the Bees organization. Absolutely tragic.

Tragic

Take care to cherish each moment, watching Nick pitch last night as a fan I was so excited for him and his future as an Angel. So quickly that turns to disbelief and sadness for a talent lost, but more tragically, a life cut short. He will be missed by us fans for what he could have brought to this team, but he will be mourned by those who loved him. Condolences to his family and friends.

Ignore me if I'm being an idiot,

but the topic says “Tragedy Strikes Again.” What else happened?

A fan was killed at the ball park.

Really sad. He was apparently sucker punched from behind.

Jeez! When was that?
Opening day

thrill000 has a link below.

Read it again
Oh yeah...

All tragic never the less.

Agreed

Went through this shit in ’07 when Sean Taylor was murdered. Unreal.

horrible news

makes baseball seem insignificant.

Just after waking up

and this is the news I hear. I can’t believe it

Another A's fan

I’m shocked and deeply saddened. My sincere condolences to Nick’s family, the other victims’ families, and the larger Angels family.

Cubs fan here

I am sorry to hear this news. He was set to be a good one.

Terrible

God Bless Nick Andenhart.

I'm overwhelmed....

My condolences.

Speechless

Woke up to text message from friends, unbelievable. Makes think twice about the shit I have going on in my life… What can we do for the families?

Shocked A's fan

Unbelievably tragic news. Condolences to family and friends of the victims, and the Angels organization.

Mariners fan here

We’re all behind you today. My thoughts and prayers are with Nick, the other victims, and their families.

Awful week for the Angels (regardless of W-L)

first Bobby Powers (regardless of your views of his personal life/troubles, he was a fan and a human being), now Nick Adenhart?

may the Lord comfort the families and friends of those who are left in the wake of these tragedies.

is there more information about bobby powers?

did he post here or something?

visiting from Athletics Nation

I just wanted to say that my heart goes out to Nick’s family, friends, Angels fans, and the Angels organization.

Baseball is a part of life but a small one. Things like this teach us to keep our loved ones close because we never know when they might be taken.

How incredibly sad

just too early….far too early. Prayers to all those who knew him. Rest in Peace.

and to the others that were killed as well.
I've been reading all morning, and I'm still stunned....

My condolences to the Angels organization, it’s fans, and the families of Nick Adenhart and the other two who were killed.

Braves' Fan

I send my condolences on your organizational loss. Its such a shame to see such a young guy lose his life period. All of us in baseball have your organization and Nick’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.

Tragic.

We were lucky enough to see Nick’s first MLB game last year at Angels Stadium.

I don’t know what to say. This shit is horrible.

Any loyalties aside (M's fan), my deepest sympathies to the Adenhart family and Angels fans.

This is tragic, awful, and sad.

Reds fan here

I am so sorry to hear this news. Even if Nick never played baseball, it would be an unbelievable tragedy. The hit and run situation is appalling. But for it to happen to someone with so much baseball talent, right on the verge, makes it even worse if that is possible. I will be rooting for you guys the rest of the year.

A's Fan sends prayers.....

This hits hard no matter if you wear Green and Gold or Red and White. This A’s fan would like to send thoughts and prays to Nick’s family & friends. He pitched a great game last night. My feelings also go to all you Angels fans…..this is indeed tough to take.

Cards Fan here

As a cardinals fan, i truly know what you guys are feeling right now…its gonna suck for a while, but eventually the feeling in the pit of your stomach will go away…just remember to always remember him

thoughts and prayers with his family and the entire halos family in general

I can't even concentrate...trying not to cry uncontrollably. I hate seeing anyone so young going so soon.
A's fan here...

I’m very sorry for the horrible loss. It just isn’t fair that good young people get taken away so soon. My thoughts are with his family, friends and fans. This is just a sad loss for the Angels and all of baseball. I hope they postpone the game tonight as if would be the right thing to do.

From a Cardinals fan

The events that have taken place in the past 12 hours to the Angels organization are absolutely terrible. You guys have my support and I will keep Nick in my thoughts and prayers. I will be holding a moment of silence with my team later this afternoon before the game.

Thoughts and prayers from a Mariners fan.

Divisional differences don’t apply here. Our sympathies are with the families, friends and fans.

Rangers fan

I watched some of last nights game, he looked great. Not that it matters, certainly a tragedy no matter what kind of player he was. And at 22.. just horrible. My condolences.

RIP Nick Adenhart

Nick’s family and the other victim’s families have my heartfelt condolences. This is a terrible loss.

One more thing: THANK YOU to the all the other team’s fans who have been dropping by to leave a comment. This is beyond heartwarming.

OH. MY. GOD!

I AM DEVASTATED! MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TO NICK, HIS TEAM MATES AND OUR BELOVED ORGANIZATION AND ALSO TO ALL MY FELLOW FANS.

R.I.P.
NICK ADENHART

So horrible

I can’t even work. This is crippling. Running red lights in Fullerton has been a problem for quite a while. This is so sad. R.I.P.

agreed
meaning I can't work either
Yankee Fan here

As a big Yankee fan i think a foundation should be setup for Nick, and i hope all MLB teams donate and do whatever the teams can do to help the entire Angels family, the Adenhart family, and the MLB family. Even though everyone likes different teams and are fans but in reality all the MLB teams are all a big family including the fans. I just hope a foundation is setup and i know the Angels will do right they are a class act organization. RIP Nick

This is hitting me a lot harder than I really expected
yeah, me too.
i wont be able to focus on anything today
Agreed.

I can’t pretend to have known Nick, but perhaps that is one of the reasons. The potential that will never be realized.

Met him at ST in 2008

Nice kid. Very cordial and polite with my kids and signed their autographs.

Its like a death in the extended family
me too

i didn’t know him, but this hurts really deep

me too

I’ve been on the verge of tears all mourning

same here

my eyes well up when I think of his family, his friends, his team mates, so sad. I really feel sick right now.

Me too...

I never knew Nick Adenhart, never had an autograph signed. Never even got to watch him pitch live. But I only heard great things about his work ethic and his pitching capabilities. I know Adenhart was destined to be one of our starters.

I feel so hurt, I think because he was so young. I love the Angels and I will only fondly remember Nick Adenhart. Rest In Peace Nick.

Another Braves fan

Came over to offer my condolences. This is just tragic. I’ll be keeping the fans and family in my prayers.

So senseless.

One can only hope his death might make one less person get behind the wheel loaded.

God be with the Adenharts, and with us all……

I was thinking

around 645 p.m. last night what we were going to do with mosely once all our guys got healthy. I thought this because I knew this was going to be the year that Nick broke out, that he would get his opportunity and take full advantage of it. What I saw from him last night made me proud. His perseverance and will to win and succeed were clear. I am proud that he was an Angel. I give his family my condolences.

White Sox fan.

That is awful news. I am sorry for the loss of your teammate and especially hope his family embraces all the support you guys are giving.

My deepest sympathy

To all Angels,

I am deeply moved and saddened by this horrible accident. As a lifelong fan of your green and gold rivals to the north, we all know there is no love lost between our teams and fans between the lines. This is not between the lines. This is life beyond the game. The loss of Adenhart is sickening and sad.

Sincerely,

Robert C.

Condolences from a Mets fan

It’s awful when news like this breaks. Heartfelt condolences go out to the families of those involved and to all of his fans of adenhart. I hope they postpone tonights game and give you fans and his teammates time to deal with this.

I saw this posted on McCovey Chronicles today and I just can’t believe it’s real. I saw Adenhart pitch against the Giants in Scottsdale this spring and he looked great. This is about much more than baseball, but it’s still shocking and heartbreaking to consider this 22 year old top prospect pitcher I just saw a few weeks ago is dead.

This is so terrible. There aren’t words to express how terrible this is.

woah

speechless.

Feels like this season is cursed!

The stadium is falling apart and there have been multiple deaths. Unbelievable. Condolences to the family.

Only three games in, too
seriously...

With a fan dying after opening day, then the stadium having that piece of concrete fall in the Club Level, and now this. Seems like things aren’t starting off on the foot that we had all hoped for.

So sad for the fan and for Nick and his family. This has been a hard week for the Halo Fans.

I don’t believe in curses any more, but this is just a bummer. I hope the person in critical can pull through.

I wanted to express my condolences to

the Adenhart family. A shooting star lost way too soon.

Rooting for a baseball team today feels kind of hollow. Take care of yourselves, Angels fans. This is just so sad. My deepest sympathies.

I watched the game last night and was amazed by this rookie..

Condolences from a Rockies fan.

God bless Nick

Just woke up 5 minutes ago…to hear this…unbelievable…last thing I heard last night on the radio was a post-game interview with Adenhart.

i saw him on Angels Live last night, too

i still can’t believe this

Of course I can't really add anything to what is being said.

My heart goes out to his family. I have kids that age and I can’t imagine anything worse than loosing one of my children. I pray that God will bless and comfort them.

As a baseball fan, my very favorite part of the game is watching and rooting for a young player as he comes up and gets his chance to play. I always root for the youngsters more than anyone else. I was so excited watching him pitch last night. I mentioned to my wife that I thought he had arrived and was much more angry about Nick not getting the win than the Angels not getting the win. I was looking forward to watching him again next week. Along with all the other baseball fans out there, I am very sad this morning.

I listened to the game last night on the radio and was shocked to read of the accident

Nick pitched really well and I’m sad to hear of this tragedy.

My condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and fans.

Theres gotta be something we can do for the family
WOW

God Bless him and his family.

What is going on this year? 3 games, 2 deaths

RIP Nick

A's fan here

wow. I feel like I was just punched in the gut. So young and such promise, gone because of some jackass. My prayers are with his family and the Angels.

A Punch In The Gut

From a great start and a bright future to death because of some careless idiot. Thoughts and prayers to his family and the organization.

Too many patches on the Angels jerseys this year. A real sahme.

From an A's fan

All of baseball has suffered a loss. All of us who love the game are stunned and saddened that we won’t get to see such a great talent in his prime. He will be missed- even by those who root for the opposition. Our rivalry is diminished by this loss.

Mariners fan here

totally shocked when I saw the news. Complete and senseless tragedy. I hope MLB gives the Angels the day off to mourn.

Drunk drivers are the scum of the earth.

Sad day for baseball

So sorry to hear this news. Condolences to the Adenhart family, and Angels fans everywhere.

Horrible news, can't believe it

My hearfelt condolences to the family. RIP Nick…

Tragedies like this always put things in perspective. I’m gonna go hug somebody I love when I get out of the office…

All of the support for Nick and the Angels community as a whole is just awesome....classy fans on this thread.
God Bless The Angels

as an organization, and all of you fans…I’m so sorry to hear about this, and I hope you can all pull together through it.

My heart goes out to the families of those involved…and as a fan of a rival, I know each one of you feels like you’re a part of the Angels family

From Another A's Fan

Damn. I just logged on and this is the first thing I read.

I watched him in an interview right after the game and was thinking how much promise he showed and now I read something like this.

My thoughts and prayers to his family and to those others who were killed and of course to the Angel organization. It puts everything into perspective. Baseball is just a game and because some idiot ran a red, many lives have been shattered.

Also to Halos Heaven, my condolences

May Nick Rest In Peace

im having an unbelievable time accepting this is real
Braves Fan Here

Adenhart had a ton of potential and this is an absolute tragedy. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, his fans, and the Angels Organization.

My heart is breaking right now

So sad. So young. My heart goes out to the Adenhart family and his Angel family. As a life long fan who now lives in Tempe, I feel like we all lost our little brother.

Go in peace Nick. You are missed already.

RIP Nick.

This is an absolutely tragic loss and my condolences go out to any single person that suffers because of it.

It’s strange how things work sometimes, isn’t it?

It’s nice to see different fans coming together as one right now. We all need it.

Rays fan here

I’m angry. I’m angry that somebody can be pitching masterfully one moment, and gone the next.

I honestly hope the driver wasn’t drunk, or running from something illegal. The fact that he ran is very bad. If that’s the case, then I hope he burns in Hell.

RIP, Nick. Looks like you got the ultimate call-up, pitching for Jesus’ Wallbangers in the Divine Field.

Just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear this news. Ugh, I don’t even know what to say, other than my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, and all of you Angels fans.

I am shocked and saddened to hear this news.

I feel so sorry for the Angels, for Adenhart’s family, and everyone else associated with this horrible tragedy. I know how excited about him you guys were. It’s horrible that it turned out this way.

- from a Rockies fan.

White Sox fan.

My best wishes and enormous condolences to everyone who knew him, and the fans who were learning to love him.

There is no way to wrap your head around this.

Regardless of your alliances, this is a sad day for baseball and a tragic end to a young, promising life.

Best regards,
HSA

On Behalf Of The Brewers family of fans

I second the thoughts of my friend Hyatt.

Crying effing shame.

ive tracked this guy his entire time in the organization because he's almost exactly my age

i dont think ive ever felt more mortal in my life

RIP

Mariners fan, here.

I’m really sorry, guys. What a terrible thing to happen to a team, to a fan, and to a family.

Adenhart would have been great. We’ll all miss him.

I just woke up to tune in to a Mariners game and found out this news.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his fans, friends, and family. I heard about the fan that died before going to bed and assumed the announcers were talking about that but they they showed Nick Adenhart’s picture.

…………..

To lose such a young pitcher getting a shot at the big leagues in this manner. This is so terribly tragic for baseball. I’m truely sorry for all of this.

Brewers fan here

I’m so sorry. Can’t imagine a worse thing to happen to such a young and talented kid. Our thoughts are with you

Today was supposed to be a great day.

As a Laker fan, I am stoked for the return of Andrew Bynum but I got spammed with IM’s right when I got out of the shower to check the sports news and this just ruined my day. This is a huge blow on and off the field to the Angels and their fans.

it just makes me so sick

he was supposed to be the next big thing. he was our future. this was his time.

and now all that is gone because some brainless idiot had to do something stupid.

i think thats what gets to me the most

he worked hard in the minors, he gets called up, he throws a great game and has great potential and then he’s gone.

im just stunned

just ordered my adenhart #34 jersey

hope mlb.com doesnt do something stupid

i'm going to do the same
I think I want to get one too.
Hopefully...

They’ll take the profits and donate them.

my first thought

I figured that it would make a great tribute, and give MLB and the Angels an opportunity to raise some money for a cause that fights things like this happening.

MADD or something like that.

Do you have a link

Sadness.

I’m really so sorry to hear this news. My condolences go out to his family and friends, the Angels and all their fans. May he rest in peace.

Sick to My Stomach

My sympathies and condolences to the families of all who died in this tragic accident.

Twins fan here

There’s not really anything I can add, but I saw him pitch a bit last night and it’s eerie to think it was just hours before his senseless death.

No kid should die like this. But at least he accomplished some major life goals, which many don’t do despite being given many more years.

Another Ranger fan putting baseball aside

I read a fanpost on Adenhart’s development a while back, and I remember thinking that I couldn’t wait for him to produce so that the Angels and Rangers could get some great games between them over the next couple years.
Just wanted to stop by and offer my condolences to the Angels community, but more importantly, Adenhart’s family and friends.; baseball takes a back seat today to recognize the loss of someone who obviously deserved more from life before he left.

From a Royals fan

This is an absolutely terrible, tragic thing. I just want to give my condolences here along with what appears to be baseball fans all around the country. It’s hard to enjoy baseball when something like this happens. I will be praying for the victims and their families.

this is hard to swallow

rip nick.. hitting me harder than i expected.

I am going to watch the Rangers Game in an hour, I hope that Nolan Ryan

as team president will have some type of tribute planned in honor of Nick, i feel that all of MLB should do something, but especially the AL west teams.

H Shit

Having a lot of trouble putting coherent thoughts together….this is just such a senseless, awful tragedy. Partly because Nick had such promise and mostly, of course, because everyone close to him—-his family, his best friends, his teammates, everyone—has to live without him now for the rest of their lives, knowing what could have happened had some fuck in a car not run a light. My first thoughts, even though I wasn’t alive at the time, were of Lyman Bostock and another life snuffed out.

I hope that Lyman is showing Nick around the place and that soon enough they’ll be watching over their team from that better clubhouse in the sky.

My limited legal perspective from having taken crim law is that this guy should easily be charged with reckless homicide—which while not first-degree murder will still put him away for a good many years, if not for life when you tack on the other three. Who knows, maybe they can even get him for Felony Murder if he was committing something other than drunkenness at the time—and then he’d be really screwed.
But we have to know, too, that eventually this murderer is going to understand the enormity of what he has done—we have to deal with tragedy for a time, but this man, just like Nick’s family and friends, has to deal the rest of his life with the repercussions of having killed three people from one stupid decision. I hope our prayers will, even if only eventually, go to him as well.

Bless you, Nick.

Another thing

Somewhat petty as it may seem, it is truly a shame that Nick couldn’t walk away from the stadium last night with a W. He pitched his heart out with that gem, and it would have been fitting had he seen the rewards for his efforts. So, so sad. Now he will truly get the recognition he deserves.

Heck, can the A’s reverse forfeit the game after the 6th inning—preserving a 4-0 win for Nick?

Dodger Fan

I woke up to hear the news. I am very sorry for the loss. I will keep him and his family in my thoughts and prayers along with the others involved. Sad day for baseball. RIP Nick and the others involved.

may the Lord bless Nick and may he live the rest of his life happily in heaven.

“The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” ~ The Bible, Job, 1:21

Who else is involved?

Reports are saying that at least one other person in his car was part of the Angels Organization. Does anybody have any word yet on who else was in the car with Nick?

confusion

there was another person with the same last name as a pitcher in the Angels’ organization.

NO OTHER ANGELS WERE IN THE ACCIDENT

so so sad

My condolences to the Adenhart family and everyone that cared about Nick. And to the others that were killed and their loved ones. Just so sad.

Angels released a T&P statement

Just heard it for the first time on SportsCenter. Nothing about the game yet.

Honestly, I think they should play the game, and play it for Nick. I wouldn’t blame them if they postponed it, but I think they ought to honor him in that fashion.

condolences from Washington DC

i went to Adenhart’s rival high school (many years earlier) and as such have followed him closely his entire career. this news saddens me to no end.

i hope you don’t mid that i borrowed your photoshopped pitcure to attach to my blog for my own small tribute to a promising athlete and person cut down before his prime.

thanks,

I don't know what to say

I’ve been so looking forward to start of this season for months. Now we’re 3 days into it and already I wish it was over. We’ve had 4 people killed in senseless incidents since the end of last season. Three of those in the past week. I can only hope and pray that Preston, Nick, Bobby and the unnamed Angel member Rest in Peace.

My prayers go out to The Adenhart, Gomez, and Powers families as well as the family of the as yet unnamed victims.

Another A's fan

I had to go to a family dinner last night, but got home excited to watch last nights game on Tivo. Kept me up until almost 1:00 last night watching the game — can’t believe that the guy I saw frustrate the A’s for six innings, and who gave such a nice post game interview, is no longer with us.

This is a true tragedy for all of baseball, and my heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of those whose lives were lost and to all Angels fans. Sometime later, when the time is right, please let us over at Athletics Nation know if there is anything we can do to help with anything.

My plan after work today was to go home an re-watch the exciting final two innings of last nights game to re-live the comeback. Now, I think I am going to go home and rewatch the first 6 innings of a young kid starting to come into his own — a pitcher that was given an oppurtunity this year and was taking advantage of it.

RIP Nick Adenhart.

This is a nightmare, please...wake me up....

…the last 2 days were bad enough. Now this?

My mind keeps juxtaposing the image of Nick LAST year (the overwhelmed deer -in -headlights) vs. the much more composed pitcher we saw last night.

He had an extended radio interview before yesterday’s game with Physioc where he talked a lot about his life, and pitching, and more…

So on a night after his greatest MLB success…pointing to a very promising future…this very young man with so much future, so much promise, so much to anticipate in life…gone. Forever.

So so senseless.

Not even the night after

That very night

my bad...I intended to write "...the morning after..."

Houston Astros Fan--So sorry to all

I’m from Texas and I just fill sick for all of you.. I just lost my best friend and it hurts so bad-he was 40 with family—So i have to reach out to all of you.. I’m so sorry for the terrible news and Pray for all of you.. My sympathies and condolences to the families of all who died in this tragic accident.

Horrible news

As a Cardinal fan who has been through this twice in recent memory, my condolences to Nick’s family and the Angels organization.

Very tough thing for anyone to go through, family, friend, or teammates. A promising career cut all too short, all too soon.

RIP Nick Adenhart. Godspeed to Nick and you all.

Driving advice...

I lost a friend in a similar situation in 2004. Since then, I have been unable to blindly drive through a normal green light without at least first scanning the horizon for anybody who might be flying into my right of way. I also lift my foot off the gas and prepare to brake in case I need to.

Remember that folks the next time you have a green light. Just because it is green doesn’t mean that everyone near the intersection knows that.

The driver was charged with DUI

He may have been drunk, in which case this wouldn’t matter.

Still good advice though.

It still matters

Apparently, Adenhart had the green. DR is saying even if you have a green, scan all directions quickly prior to entering as you never know what may happen.

I got popped in an accident the same way, dude blew through a red and t-boned me. I still freeze for a second turning on a green arrow.

I already posted

but I feel sorry for this clown’s family who are no doubt respectable people and have to endure this.

There are so many people’s lives ruined when something like this happens.

Great Advice.

I try to do this all the time… I think we were warned about this back in Driver’s Ed, and i also keep thinking of those scenes in movies where hackers change all the lights to green and everyone sideswipes each other. If it happens in real life to me, I plan to be the one who does not go through the light and get hit, though I might get rear ended. At least the car is built to protect me and the person rear ending me, unlike side impacts.

I would be surprised if the driver of Adenhart’s car could have prevented what happened, given the speed of the other driver, and knowing that intersection. But it is still good advice I hope everyone will keep in mind when driving though intersections.

A's Fan here,

Prayer goes out to his Family, the Angel’s organization, and all people associated with the team.

We all hurt along with the ridiculous loss of a promising young man.

Take care of our boy up there, Preston!

May the Lord’s blessings be upon the Adenhart family and the extended Halos family in this time of trial and tribulation.

completely shocked

Cupie, ReggieBullits and I were at the game together last night. It’s strange to think about how angry we were last night about how badly it ended for the Angels, and then to wake up this morning to the horrible news that makes last night’s frustration so immediately meaningless.

exactly how i felt

i couldnt care less how this season plays out. this is how i will always remember the 2009 angels…

It's how I felt as well

I wasn’t AT the game, but I was thinking all morning about how I felt bad for Nick re: the effort.

Means absolutely nothing today. Nothing at all.

Nothing I can say can make things any better, but to show my respect, I must say something. Godspeed, Nick. Our thoughts are with your loved ones left behind.

I'm an A's fan as well.

But I just wanted to express my condolences. I know we’re foes, but this just is the saddest thing ever. It puts things into perspective. I am so sorry and there’s nothing I can say really. I just wanted to post that my thoughts go out to you, the fans, and to the Angels players and the poor families who’s lives have been turned upside down.

Prayers going out to the family

I don’t know what kind of positive thing can come from this, but I’m praying for something…God knows better than I do anyway.

What a horrible, horrible way to start the day. What a horrible, horrible way to start the season.

Maybe it'll help stop future drunk drivers

not that that’s enough

Just wanted to pop in and send my condolesences for this terrible, tragic loss. I am shocked and don’t know what to think right now. I was watching him pitch yesterday on a screen alongside the Dodger game, and I remember thinking to myself how good he was looking and how good he will become. This is just awful. So young, so full of promise. So sad for all the other victims of this collision, too. I’m so glad they caught the hit-and-run driver.

Too sad today

I'm praying for Nick's family and friends

May God give them peace in this time of great tragedy.

Nick … now forever and Angel.

From a Brewers Fan

I just heard about last night’s tragedy involving Adenhart. As a 22 year old myself, this seems especially cruel. I wanted to drop by and say that I am thinking of you all today and that I am praying for Nick’s family and friends in this time. My condolences to you and your organization.

This really shows how our lives can go in a splitsecond.

Once again, thank all non-Angel fans. May all people know be grateful for the life the Lord has given us. RIP

From the Angels' press release...

Adenhart is survived by his father Jim and mother Janet. His family released the following statement:

“Nick’s family expresses sincere gratitude for all the help the Angels have provided. He lived his dream and was blessed to be part of an organization comprised of such warm, caring, and compassionate people. The Angels were his extended family. Thanks to all of Nick’s loyal supporters and fans throughout his career. He will always be in everyone’s hearts forever.”

All of us at Halo’s Heaven appreciate the outpouring of feelings from everyone throughout the SB Nation, and throughout baseball overall.

Hey everyone, visiting from over at Lone Star Ball...

Just wanted to wish each of you, as well as the Adenhart family and friends, my deepest sympathies and condolences. My prayers are with each and every one of you during this tragic time.

I know we as Rangers and Angels fans are rivals and everything, but this is a time to look past that and remember that we’re all people here, who happen to enjoy the same game. This is immensely saddening, and I’m so sorry that you as Angels fans have to go through this. But please know that we are all here for you as baseball fans, rivals or not.

God Bless.

Another A's fan

This has got to be one of the worst things I have heard. My sincere condolences to the Adenhart family as well as the other familys involved. It is a truely sad day in California and around the country. RIP.

I just wanted to give my condolences to Nick’s family and friends especially, and to the Angels organization. It’s a terrible loss, and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

So Sad - Young Life Gone - Makes you Think

I’m really torn up about this, I love the Halos, been watching them since I was in utero, and I was extremely excited about Adenhart this season. Thrilled to find that he was in the starting rotation, and I felt that he had a lot of potential for a great career. Now he’s gone and there’s not only a huge hole in the rotation, but a huge hole in the hearts of his teammates and his fans.

I think it’s fantastic to see the outpouring of emotion and support from all the fans of other teams, that’s phenomenal. Baseball fans seem to be a dying breed unfortunately, but a tragedy like this really shows the character of baseball and the grand game’s fans.

Whenever someone very young dies those of us who are older need to stop and think about our lives and the BS minutia [sp] that makes us stressed out and depressed, and just get over it, because life is too short and can be taken away at any moment.

We MUST not forget about Nick and his family throughout the years, yes he wasn’t a major leaguer for very long, but he was an Angel through and through, and he will be missed, desperately.

RIP Nick. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, as well as the other two innocents who were plucked away from us last night. It shouldn’t have happened.

I can think of no better way for the Halos to honor Nick than winning the Series in his memory, and now we all have a rallying cry to bind us together. Not that we wanted it this way. EVER.

From the Angels press release

Adenhart, 22, was a passenger in a silver Mitsubishi along with three others. Fullerton Police reported the Mitsubishi proceeded through an intersection, when a van ran a red light and broadsided the vehicle. A female driver and male passenger were in the Mitsubishi were dead when police and fire department personnel arrived. Adenhart died as the result of his injuries at UCI Medical Center earlier this morning. No other members of the Angels organization were involved.

I am deeply saddened and my thoughts and prayers go out to you, the fans, Nick’s family, and the Angels organization.

Such a sad event, words cannot describe how I feel about this tragedy right now.

Condolences from a Nats fan

I am stunned and saddened by the tragic death of Nick. He had such potential as a young pitcher. My thoughts are with friends and family of Adenhart and all Angels fans right now. It is nice to see all baseball fans come together to rally around the Angels and his family.

Nats Friends of mine posted an entry re Nick. He was born in the DC area so I am sure that there are many folks in NatsTown thinking about his family too.

bless everyone from other teams stopping by

From all of us over at SSS

This shouldn’t happen to anyone and when it happens to someone with such a bright future it seems to hit so much harder. I just got back from my biochem class and there were people talking about it who don’t even know about the Angels, that’s how big this has gotten (and I’m in central Illinois so that kind of says something). It feels weird knowing that we’re the only team he will ever record a win against. Our condolences to his friends and family.

Seconded -- just an awful tragedy. Condolences to all who knew and loved him.
Any news on where to go to watch the Angels News Conference at 1030?
Was wondering the same

If anyone is watching, could you please post details???

(for those of us at work)
Im watching ESPN

doesnt seem as if they are mentioning it too much over NFL coverage. Hopefully they play the conference.

Maybe one of the locals? Or MLB Net?
EVERYONE keep an eye out for it and post immediately if you find it.
MLB network switched to it
or wait, i think they did
Yes please. Seconded.
They just announced that they are still making preparations.

They will start in 10-15 minutes.

im hoping ESPNews is gonna carry it
same
MLB network just switched to it
ESPNews has Gammons on right now

Discussing it, MLB.com is also carrying the news

I never, ever thought I would register here.

Some things go beyond baseball….honestly, I wanted Adenhart to bust…not to die. You never wish this type of thing on anyone…lame…

Condolences to his family, and all you fans…not a good thing to hear five minutes after you wake up…

Another Giants fan

My job connects me to death on a daily basis – the company I work for does online obituaries – and after a while, it almost becomes routine. But every now and then, there’s a story that still really gets to me and reminds me how much personal tragedy is involved with every single death in the world. This story is one of those times. It’s just unbelievably sad. My condolences to the Angles, the Adenhart family, and Angels fans, too.

I just woke up....

and saw this and now I wish I could wake back up………because this is a nightmare…

RIP Nick.

I was listening the Sports Lodge on AM 830 when someone called in at about 6:20 this morning saying that an Angels starting pitcher last night had died at the UCI Med Center. Roger Lodge thought it was a prank and hung up guy, but I had a bad feeling in my gut that the guy was telling the truth since he sounded very serious about it. I was also hoping it was a hoax, but unfortunately the report was true. Nick and the other 2 people didn’t deserve to lose their lives this way and I hope justice is served for the guy who caused this. My condolences to Nick’s family and to all of the Angels organization.

From AN

Makes yesterday very bittersweet. It hits home harder because we play y’all so often. The competitor’s spirit he showed last night will be missed.

Today, we pray together for Nick and the Angels organization

Shocked

as stataed above once an angel always an angel. Wow this not only hits home and reminds how fleeting life truely is for anyone/everyone but has huge ramifacations within the organization.

Tears...

that’s all I have. Worse possible news that could possibly happen to one family. It is just not fair. I am 21 and this just shows me that no matter what life can just be taken. It has hit home for me, I hope all can just cherish who he was and never forget him. I will be praying for him and his family.

start delayed 10-15 minutes...just announced

Harold Reynolds before Torii came on, said that Torii used to give rides to Nick in Spring Training and his kids got to be good friends with Nick, and the toughest part of his day will be talking to his kids. That made me cry.

Torii on MLB Network right now
I hope they cancel the game today

I’m too sad to watch anything

I don't see how the Players can play today.

I don’t think that it is possible that anybody can have the heart to play their best today, on either side of the diamond.

Nick Adenhart

I’ve just read every post for this thread, and it makes me feel sad, but so supported. I’d like to thank every person who posted on this, to include other clubs SBN support. This is very therapeutic. I began reading with a tear in my eye, a few posts in, I was in absolute tears. By the end, I still feel empty, but better. Many of you took the words right out of my mouth, and wish I could elaborate further, but I’m still at a loss.

I want to send my condolences and support to all who loved Nick, and especially to his family.

As for tonight’s game… it should up to the players. I think they’d want to play in his honor.

I was telling my wife last night about Nick and how he was going to be the next great Angel pitcher… an absolute phenom. I called her at work today to tell her the horrible news… the conversation was just silent… we both paused… what a horrible tragedy.

May the Lord be with you Nick, his family, and all others affected by this.

Condolences to the Adenhart family and the Angels organization.

This tragedy really strikes home how quickly everything we take for granted can be taken away.

Condolences from Over the Monster, and Red Sox fans everywhere.

The Hall of Fame induction will be bittersweet...

Red Sox fan here

I would like to extend my condolences to all the families involved, the Angels organization and to all of you, the fans. This is beyond us being rivals when we play eachother, this is a tragedy for all of baseball. This reminds me of when the Yankees came to Fenway right after 911. When the Yankees took the field there was a 10 min standing ovation, it was larger than any game could be, and that is how I feel about this. Such a promising young man and player taken from his family, friends and the baseball community in such a senseless and tragic way. Whenever we play the Angels it is always a great competition between two great teams with so much young talent. Now a big piece of that has been taken forever.

May 2004 Washington Post Article about Nick

Thought the Angels fans might like to read an old article about Nick. It talks about Nikck being Baseball America’s No. 1 high school prospect in the country, his elbow surgery, his young potential, etc.

“Nick pitched the Little League all-star team to the state tournament as an 11-year-old, was so untouchable as a 12-year-old that a desperate opponent attempted to steal home on a throw back from the catcher, and had registered in the mid-eighties on a radar gun as a 13-year-old.”

My deepest condolences to the Adenhart family, the Angels organization, and all the Angels fans. Which dugout you are in or what team is on your shirt does not matter on a day like today. So sad that someone with such a promising future could be taken in an instant. He was an Angel yesterday, today an angel in Heaven. My thoughts are with all of you.

wow

he’s human?

he made a gurgle sound

I was shocked.

Yes, he's quite human

I know a couple people who have done business with him, and my wife has done some business with his organization and indirectly with him. Everyone we know who knows him portrays a warm, caring person who happens to be incredibly good at his job. Part of his job is to make himself the center of attention in negotiations so that his clients don’t have to be.

as much as i hate Boras

i really appreciate what he has to say.

why is scott boras crying getting to me the most
Even Business Titans are effected by the loss of life.
RIP Young Master Adenhart. My sincerest condolences to the family.

I currently have no words of my own, therefore I shall sit back down in deference to those more qualified:

If tolling bell I ask the cause.
‘A soul has gone to God,’
I’m answered in a lonesome tone;
Is heaven then so sad?

That bells should joyful ring to tell
A soul had gone to heaven,
Would seem to me the proper way
A good news should be given.

He is the Don of Angels Baseball

If I had to choose one man to fight beside me in Nam, you know, the guy who has to carry my fat ass back to camp when I get wounded, it would be Sosh.

Boras is really taking this hard

Just know that literally millions of people out here have you Angel fans, the Adenhart family, and the Angels organization in our prayers and thoughts. As the mother of a 22-year-old son, I cannot begin to comprehend how I would cope with such a loss, but I do know that God will help.

Prayers go out to Angel and baseball fans in general as well as condolences to the Adenhart family and friends. Watching him pitch last night and then hearing of his death this morning has struck a cord in this fans heart. Take care of yourselves, Angels fans.

As an A’s fan, this youngster scared the shit out of me. #1 and/or #2 prospect for the last couple of years, sick motion, strong, etc… Watching him last night confirmed my suspicion that he was yet another (in a long list of Angels) that could wreak havoc in the division.

Someone upthread mentioned that rooting for baseball seems a bit hollow today. I think I will watch a bit closer as moments like this remind me that life is fleeting and individuals of the caliper of Mr. Adenhart are rare and should be celebrated. Thank you Nick.

Condolences from an M's fan.

This is terrible and I can’t imagine what it must be like for you guys right now, not to mention Nick’s family and friends.

I want you to know that I will be thinking of Nick at Holy Thursday Mass this evening.

May Nick’s soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

Cubs fan here

Offering my condolences to Nick’s friends & family, the Angles organization and everyone in the Angles Fanbase. It is always a tragedy when someone that young is taken from you. Especially over the selfish reckless actions of another.

I also believe it is also somewhat the police's fault

According to NBC, Gallo has had his liscence suspended since ’05, but never was arrested for it

A profound and unjust tragedy.

The thoughts of all baseball fans are with those who knew Nick Adenhart best. His loved ones and family of course, but also those who watched him play — cheering his triumphs, sharing his struggles, and looking forward to a bright shared future.

As sports fans we all choose sides, but today we are reminded that we choose for the same reasons. We are all with you as you honor the memory of your own.

The shock is now turning to anger for me

This mother f’er Gallo…f him…what a selfish waste of carbon based life. This should be a slam dunk 2nd degree murder charge because of his priors…and 15 years to life in prison.

Hope he rots for the rest of his life.

should be

15 yrs – life PER count of 2nd degree murder..

I started getting pissed a couple of hours ago
Iv always written down my thoughts and today i share

First id like to add condolences to the friends, family, teammates or anyone esle this tragedy has effected. Im absolutely amazed on how many real people are posting on this site. its special to see people so respectful towards eachother sadly it takes tragedy. I was fortunetly lucky enough to meet Nick as a fan during spring training. im one year older than him he honeslty seemed more mature than i was. he was focused at he was doing and loved what he was doing. Nick signed an autograph and chatted and he was real. i didnt hear an ego, feel like i was talking to future baseball superstar i was talking to someone human, who joke around with the females flirting with him, making a some little kids day by giving him a ball. One thing to note about his character was that he wasnt the driver, i mean how many moron atheletes these days drive drunk. its quite sad. I pray that Nick is on that mound watching over his teammates giving his some sort of guidance or motivation. they say things happen for a reason whether we agree with them or not. i believe this Angel family will grow closer and not crumble.
Lighting up the Halo will have a whole new meaning this year.

as selfish as this sounds im just a lot pissed that im going to miss Nicks start against the Sox.
Is anyone down for a vigil at the big A tonite even though the game is canceled.

But that article says it was a So-Cal girl, so maybe it wasn’t her.

Reds fan from Red Reporter here...

So terrible. The guy had so much potential… He was only 5 years older than me… and now he’s gone. It’s so sad to see how quickly tragedy can strike and to see how fragile life is.

My prayers go out to him, his family, the Angels, the fans, the whole world of baseball.
Also go out to the families and friends of the other victims.

Make a Difference

Although I never met Nick, I can’t help feeling like I’ve lost a close friend. I mourn him and pray for his family. I can’t begin to imagine the profound sense of anguish I’m sure those close to him are feeling. As a parent, one of my greatest fears is to experience the loss of a child. I literally ache for his mother and father. However, my sadness is rapidly evolving to frustration and anger over the senseless loss of yet another promising young life to drunk driver.

We mourn his death today, and we must always celebrate his life going forward. Nick touched so many people during his short time on earth, likely more than he ever knew. His legacy will endure because of the difference he made in the lives of others.

If there is to be anything positive from this tragedy it will be up to us to make it happen. Too many young people die and/or are maimed every day at the hands of a drunk driver. The person who killed Nick and the others was a repeat drunk driving offender operating the vehicle on a suspended license. It has to stop right here and right now. We can make a difference. Support "Mothers Against Drunk Driving" (MADD), support educational outreach to our youth so they understand the impact of alcohol on their actions, support judicial and legislative actions to toughen all forms of drunk driving laws, and ensure those who violate the statutes are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Do it for Nick – and those other young people who died today…and will die today due to drunk drivers. How many more senseless tragedies will it take?

I am thankful that...

…I got to see that filthy curveball last night
…I got to see that filthy change up last night
…I got to see that effortless pitching motion last night

RIP Nick!

can't think now

when i first heard it that he died i was crying bady and i’m still am i can’t feel the pain that his family is going right now or the angels pain but the pain i can’t get it that he gone at a young age he have a whole life to live but that f@@@ing drunk driver have to run the red light to end his life and i watch his very last game he pitch RIP Nick to bad he was a very good pitcher for the angel

I was at the game last night...

and to think Nick is now gone is honestly too much to Handle. Recently a USC student was also killed in a hit and run coming back from Fraternity Row (where I currently live), so now that this has happened once to my Trojan family and now my Angel family its just too much.

To the Adenhart’s: I love you and hope you will find solitude and comfort in the loving arms of the Angels Players, Organization and Fans. #34 will never be the same because of Nick

To The Greatest Fans in the World: We are all bleeding and all I can say is, find solice in each other and the cathedral that is Angels Stadium. Together we can mourn and remember Nick.

My god, this just transcends everything to do with baseball. On a human level, I’m so sorry that a young man just one year older than me had his life snuffed out in a completely random accident by some dumbass coward. May he live with this in the back of his mind all his life.

Even though the Angels are probably my least favorite team in the entire AL (hey, gotta keep rivalries alive, no matter not uneven they are, lol), this really puts everything in perspective.

I can’t stop thinking about his family, and the families of the other two (who are they??). This is terrible.

Words Fail Me Right Now

I am sorry for you loss. He was a true talent. My thoughts go out to his family, friends, and fans.

- A Braves Fan In NorCal

When I woke up

I had a bunch of missed calls and texts all saying things like “Sad to hear about Adenhart” and my mind went to the worst thing possible and I didn’t want to think it could be true. HH was the first place I came and it is just so sad to hear after the bright future this kid showed he had last night. Tragic.

So sorry Angels fans.

I’m an A’s fan, and I feel we have all been robbed by a senseless act of stupidity. I wish beyond measure that I still had the opportunity to hassle Nick at a game, or feel absolute dejection when he mowed down my beloved A’s as he did last night. Sadly, through no fault of his own, he encountered one jam to many.

One of the most poignant things I have ever read, his father sitting and staring at his locker. I have a son, and I’m sitting here typing this and doing a poor job of holding back tears.

God speed Nick. May your loved ones find shelter beneath His wings till you meet again.

Even now, all I can think of is

“But… he MADE it. Six shutout innings at 22 years old. He’d gotten to the top. This was gonna be his year.”

And I can’t stop crying.

hearing that his father is sitting in his locker and staring

its such a horrible tragedy!

than listening to am830 going to comercial break with “calling all you angels” playing in the back ground…. i cant keep the tears from falling…. that song used to get me every time the angels played it last season with our hi-lights. now that song has a new meaning to me!

Once Again

I’m old enough to remember Lyman Bostock, Dick Wantz, Mike Miley, Minnie Rojas, Chico Ruiz…sometimes I think this franchise is just snakebit. Of course, like everyone else, I’m devastated, but I’m also angry. Yet another fatal hit-and-run…what’s wrong with people nowadays?

My condolences to the Angels organization and Nick’s family.

Speechless...

Thank You to everyone who took their time to offer their condolences and to the other SB blogs who who were classy enough to post the news on their site.

Mariners fan here from LL

Just want to say I’m sorry to everyone here for your loss. Obviously our blogs have a lot of fun hating on each other. We are usually happy to hear of LAA injuries/suspensions etc, but none of us would ever hope for this. No matter how much we hate each other, baseball is just a game, this is a life, and we are all very sorry to hear of this tragedy.

My condolences to everyone, this is a sad day for baseball.

Giants fan

Although it doesn’t really matter who any of us root for. This is a tragedy which any baseball fan or any human for that matter should feel sympathy for the victims and anger towards the drunk driver. Condolences to all Angel’s fans and the Adenhart family.
RIP 34 A True Angel.

Condolences from all Cardinal fans...

God be with him and his family

Dropping in from Red Reporter

What a shame, sometimes the world is just plain senseless. My condolences to his family, both blood and baseball.

I've been trying to make sense of this for two hours

and I can’t – it’s too tragic. I just hope that someone else’s life is saved tonight, or tomorrow night, or in two months because some would-be drunk driver thinks twice before turning the key when they shouldn’t. Because otherwise, I can’t make any sense at all of this.

My thoughts go out to Nick’s family and friends. He was a great talent, and this was just too soon.

As an Oriole fan

I was hoping that our GM would acquire a hometown guy like Adenhart, but my thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Whoops

I had two windows open and didn’t mean to double post.

Another Rangers fan

Just got home from work and saw the news on ESPN. What a punch in the gut.

Most of us here on SBN follow our respective teams pretty intensely, and we know all about the top prospects. In the process we get to know a little about other teams’ young prospects as well. I’ve been hearing about Adenhart for a few years now, and was really looking forward to seeing him pitch against the Rangers a few times a year at the Ballpark. What awful, awful news. Condolences to his family and friends, and to Angels fans as well.

You know, I've been wondering why this felt so familiar to me...

Does anyone remember the Padres pitching prospect Gerik Baxter…? He was my next door neighbor growing up…he was a top pitching prospect, averaging about 10 K’s per 9, coming up the ladder at the same time as Peavy…then in the summer of 2001, I was on vacation and we saw on the news that he had been killed in a car accident, not becasue of alcohol but because they weren’t wearing seat belts…Nick was obviously more of a victim, as Gerik should’ve worn his seat belt…but still…it’s not fun to have something trigger a memory like that…

Because Gerik is still in my thoughts, Nick will be staying there too.

Goodbye Nick

You were one of our young bright shining stars. Baseball will be less fun and less interesting without you around.

My condolences to all.

This really puts things in perspective

Tomorrow, I’ll be a Mariners fan and you’ll all be Angels fans, but today, we’re all mourning together.

Damn Straight.
Condolences from a Cub fan

I never had the pleasure of seeing him pitch, but I know he was one of your rising stars. Condolences to his family and the Angel’s family.

RIP Nick

I can’t imagine how devastating this must be for his family and his teammates. It’s a sad day for baseball.

Stunning and disheartening

My thoughts go out to the families and the entire Angels community. Nick will certainly be missed by everyone in the baseball community.

R.I.P Nick Adenhart

Prayers and condolences

Just woke up to this news here in Korea. My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to his family and friends during this horrible tragedy.

I speak for all Giants fans

We are all deeply sorry and sad for the Adenhart family and baseball fans every where. Rest in peace Nick.

My deepest Condolences

To The family, friends, and fans of Adenhart!!

Listening to boras and hunter talk about him made me get all teary-eyed. Especially seeing boras so emotional with adenhart’s jersey draped in front of him. I’m a giants fan, but some things are just bigger than the sport. From everything I’ve heard, Nick seemed like a great guy…so young. To everyone who died in the accident, rest in peace.

The more today goes on..

the more i’m really struggling with this. It’s just so….senseless.

Last night Nick showed lots of grit. He was getting better with each inning, until by the 6th he was really showing the fans something special. I went to bed thinking it was such a shame that the bully didn’t keep up their end of the deal for him.

I also was thinking that Nick would be doing that alot more for the club over the years.

And now this. It’s despairing.

This is just a horrible, horrible day.

God bless you Nick. You will always be in our hearts.

My condolences.

Really tragic.

From Bleed Cubbie Blue...

I want to send my condolences to Nick Adenhart’s family, teammates and the entire Angels organization.

I hope justice will be served for the man who made the most tragic decision of his life.

I just don’t get it…….

nbc channel 4

is doing a report on Nick right now

I have been running around the County all day long, doing my job, meeting lots of people.

Everybody is in disbelief.

And I understand.

I keep coming back here and, defying all logic and intellect, I keep hoping that these threads and these comments are not going to be here, that it did not really happen, that this is not real, and that a very fine young man form a very fine family with a very bright future is still among us and having a great day.

It is just not right. It is wrong. And right now reality is too confusing.

...one of those times when logic and intellect simply fail.

Trying to find a measure of sense in the senseless…

Stunned…just…stunned.

I wish it was a bad dream

every time they show that jersey on the table, the fans crying at the stadium, Boras breaking down…it just can’t be REAL!

Mariners fan here

What happened to him was horrible. I just want to let you guys know that my condolences are out to you guys and I’m glad the guy who killed him was arrested.

Condolences from a Cardinals fan

I’m Korean and a Cards fan. I didn’t have enough confidence in my English so I’ve been only lurking around for more than a year, never posting…

However, this horrible, horrible news finally took me out of my cave.

Rest in peace, Nick.
My thoughts are with his family, the families of other people killed, the Angels orginazation and fans.

Appropriate time to comment...

…and your English is just fine.

Kansahmnida for your post in very good English. We Angel fans appreciate the comments from everyone.

Really Sad Day

This is such a terrible story. This kid looked like he had it all going for him. Most importantly…more than his talent…he just seemed like a really good guy. The story about him telling his father not to miss the game because something special was going to happen just about tears your heart out. I’m not an Angel fan, but I lived in Orange County for 15 years and have attended hundreds of Angel games. Because I am a baseball fan first and foremost. But I know how passionate Angel fans are. And I know a lot of you are hurting over this loss. It’s a big loss. It’s going to take time to get over it. But believe me, in time you will. I still shed a tear every August 2 when I remember our Captain, Thurman Munson. When he died so tragically, we Yankee fans thought we could never recover. But we did. Why? Because we had to.

So will you.

I’m very sorry for your loss.

RIP Nick Adenhart

As a Mariners fan, I may loathe the Angels on the field, but no man on any team warrants this sort of tragic death. One silver lining to take from this is that at least Nick Adenhart’s baseball career ended, however suddenly, on a high note. May Andrew Gallo face the proverbial gallows for driving drunk with a suspended license and then having the gall to flee the scene after the accident. How sad that a promising young man’s life ended because of this. Throw the book at Mr. Gallo.

RIP Nick Adenhart.

Giants fan here

My condolences to the Adenhart family, the Angels organization, and Angels fans. Truly a senseless tragedy

I’m in Fresno tonight covering the Grizzlies’ season opener and they observed a moment of silence for Nick Adenhart. It was a very nice gesture.

Sorry Angels fans!!!!!

I’m a Cubs fan first and foremost but we’re all baseball fans, and as a fan of the game, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and fans of Nick. All the best!

I cant stop crying today

I met Nick in 2005 when he played for the rookie club Provo Angels. We talked for a few minutes, about pitching, setting up batters, thinking 2 or 3 pitches ahead. I KNEW then he was going to be a great one. Not a good one, a GREAT one. And last night, he was a GREAT one. I wasn’t able to watch the game, but followed it on Yahoo gamechannel.

I saw Adenhart grow before my eyes. in the first two innings, I saw him throwing 1st pitch balls to batters. By the 5th inning, he was throwing 1st pitch strikes. huge strides in just one game.

Nick became GREAT in the span of 6 innings.

I had become a fan of Nick from the time I found out about his TJ surgery. Like the rest of America, I love an underdog.
From the time I met Nick, I had a renewed interest in his career. Less than a week after I talked to him, he pitched the Provo Angels to the league championship.
I followed his career to Cedar Rapids, and then Rancho Cucamonga, back east to Arkansas, and then to Salt Lake. I felt keenly his disappointment in his ML debut last May, and was so excited to see him make the opening day roster. I was looking forward to him making a significant contribution. Though many on this website doubted the Angels ability to compete due to the injuries to the SP, I had no doubts Adenhart would excel. With that offense behind him, and his electric stuff, I knew he would be fine. Indeed, he was GREAT.

I’ve been in tears all day. My favorite player is gone. My favorite player is gone, just when he first reached GREAT.

Nick signed 3 baseball cards for me, on that August evening in 2005.
Funny how baseball makes us all little boys again.
Today, I looked at those cards, and all I can ask is Why? What might have been?

3 lives have been lost today. Yet I also mourn a 4th life lost. Mr. Gallo’s life has ended, as well. That he could not learn, that our legal system could not help him learn from his mistakes, is also a tragedy. It will be a hard burden for him to bear what he has done. God forgives. I hope he seeks that forgiveness, and rises from the ashes he has made of his life.

But most of all, I hope the Adenhart family can go forward knowing his name rests forever in our hearts. I hope they carry the pride of the Halo Nation with them always. I hope God provides that comfort only He can give.

God bless, Nick. God bless your family and all those who have been affected.
Dry our tears, and warm our hearts with your memory. We who never knew you, yet know you so well, will never forget.

I woke up to 5 text messages

telling me about this tragic event. These text messages were from non-baseball friends or non-Angels fans. I then came here to see what was really going on.

As I read all the comments that have been posted, it has brought tears to my eyes because of all the things said and has given me a little more faith in other teams fans and people in general.

My thoughts & prayers are with the Adenhart & the other 3 victims immediate & extended families.

I won’t say I hope this guy dies a horrible painful death, I personally hope he lives for a long time & sees the faces of those whose lives he took so unnecessarily every time he closes his eyes sober or drunk.

Condolences From M's Fan

This transcends baseball and rivalries. Best wishes to the Adenhart family, friends, and the Angel org.

Also to the fans. Every day and breath is a gift. Best wishes to all of you. I lost a friend years ago from a red light runner. It’s a pet peeve – hate that. Hope justice is served in some way somehow.

Sincere sympathy from a Padres fan

Thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by this loss.

The more I read about this tragedy, the more sadness I feel.
I am stunned into grasping for words.

Peace of mind to all of Nick’s family, friends and fans, also to the friends and families of the other people killed in this senseless crash.

A sweet, young life snuffed out just when he reached his goal.
Heaven has a new angel on its team.

RIP Nick Adenhart. Young man, you will be missed.

As a Mariner fan, this is terrible

I normally don’t care much or at all for the Angel players and fans, but this is the kind of tragic event that makes one ignore the logo on the jersey. When it comes down to it, a human life is much more important than a rivalry, especially a 22 year old human life.

RIP Nick Adenhart. Thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Cardinals fan here

Wanted to express my thoughts and condolences here. May Nick Adenhart rest in peace; he will be remembered as a man full of seemingly endless potential.

I wish the best upon you all. Wanted you to know that here today in St. Louis I about cried like a baby at work today from hearing the news.

Much love.

So sorry for the loss of Nick

May God bring His comfort to his family, friends, teammates, and fans… We will miss you Nick!!!!

My condolences

As a longtime Padres fan, I’m putting down the hate and turning that passion into condolences for the Adenhart family and the Angels organization.

Such a tragedy….

Another Cubs fan here...

Words seem useless at a time like this. I saw Adenhart pitch in a game against the Cubs in spring training a couple of weeks ago. What potential. This is just so tragic. My thoughts and prayers go to all of Nick’s family, friends, teammates and fans.

Another Cubs fan...
  • like this makes you remember that baseball is only a game. Nobody should die at 22.
