If they can put this type of offense together, imagine having actual starting pitching. Imagine NOT having people that should be in AAA. We should be fine…
That’s why I said most of the ‘70s. But that light wasn’t apparent in the early- to mid-‘70s, for it was years away. Our light is a month or so away (God willing and the water don’t rise).
I was at the game and it was intense, even though you wouldn’t think so looking at the scoreboard in the 7th inning. You could tell the Angels (offense) wanted this badly.
But the only one that I missed was the one that counted most. Damnit!
I blame Bulger 100%. i Know he had a couple good nights, but in this game he just gave it up. If we hold down the Mariners in the middle innings even a little bit more, we still would have had our great comeback, and it would have been good for a win. The Angels were hungry tonight, you could sense it at the game. Even Bobby was getting impatient trying to produce, but the offensed performed well with the pressure they had on themselves.
Great defense probably wins us this game… but slightly better pitching definitely wins us this game. And at least Howie had some good ABs, which is more than we can pretend to say about Bulger, who basically did nothing right.
kendry is a serious downgrade at first in terms of defense. there are numerous plays I have seen that both kotch and tex would have made every time. i truly believed that one of the reasons the angels outplayed “expectations” last year was specifically defense at first. remember discussions about hwo many games koth (and tex) had one simply by makeing the most clutch play at first ever.
i remember when i played third and there would be sharp line drives. i am a pretty big guy (i eventually switched to left offensive tackle) so when i would dive for sharp ground balls i knew i wouldnt get it but wanted to make the effort for my team. it seems like kendry is the same way. he dives because he knows he should but he also knows he doesnt think he can get it. the difference between me and him is i was 12 years old.
he really is a serious downgrade at defense and i think it is hurting us more than some realize.
but i think the rest are playing way down compared to their abilities. except maybe for napoli. but what im trying to say is i dont think kendry has the abilities. the rest can turn it around and it may just be a product of losing and being in a slump so when they get tehir rotation in order and improve, so will the d, but kendry will not and it will hurt us.
The bullpen hurts me so much
sob, sob, sob,sob…..

Think of it this way...

Figgi4life - April 25, 2009
I agree.
It’s just hard in the meantime. It’ll be nice to be on the other side of these, soon.
AlanFalcon - April 25, 2009
For more recent fans
this is a little taste of what it was like to be a fan throughout most of the ’70s, only back then there was no light at the end of the tunnel.
rspencer - April 25, 2009
sure there was........there was the late 70's and early to mid 80's...........
norcaliangelsfan - April 25, 2009
Sure, in retrospect

angelsfan777 - April 25, 2009

Figgi4life - April 25, 2009
I feel bad for the commentators cause there is no way anyone can hear them.
angelsfan777 - April 25, 2009
Ducks lost : (
Back in Anaheim for Game 6. Hope the place is sold out this time
stolenbases - April 25, 2009
They lost on purpose? :-)
Yeah, it better be! I might try to score a couple tickets. It’d be good to see an Anaheim team win a series. :-)
AlanFalcon - April 25, 2009
The Ducks HAVE to win Game 6 in Anaheim
I would go, but I am in SD and have midterms : (
stolenbases - April 25, 2009
No excuses! :D

Figgi4life - April 25, 2009

There’s a button in the article now that you can click.
AlanFalcon - April 25, 2009

norcaliangelsfan - April 25, 2009
Yeah, but I'd trade it all for a lit Halo!
I was at the game and it was intense, even though you wouldn’t think so looking at the scoreboard in the 7th inning. You could tell the Angels (offense) wanted this badly.
AlanFalcon - April 25, 2009
So, are you going to do another "Downing Rules" screen shot?
I was on TV for THIS Torii Hunter HR as well, but this time I was sitting in the front row of the diamond club! Woo hoo!
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
Nevermind ... I did it...
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
Beautiful!
I was in T213, row C… so not too far from you. I probably got several shots of the side of your head. :-)
AlanFalcon - April 25, 2009
I moved to this seat only for the 9th...
I was one section over in the 2nd row (just off the screen on the left side of this pic) for innings 1-8.
213 is sweet, too! Nice!
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
They're the best seats I ever had.
Loving this recession thing. :-) Haha.
AlanFalcon - April 25, 2009
Me 2...
my 2 tix cost $70 TOTAL INCL the DC parking pass. Can you say theft?
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
dude 70 bucks?
Thats alot of baby diapers and formula………..I’ll stick to the computer for now….
norcaliangelsfan - April 25, 2009
Face was a tick under 3 bills.
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
...and ...
you can use cloth diapers and breast milk…. where’re your priorities???
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
LOL.......
cant use breast milk when mom works a job where she’s out of town 7 days………then home 7 days…..then gone 7 days again.
As for cloth diapers…….I’d rather root for the dodgers……then deal with cloth diapers…..
norcaliangelsfan - April 25, 2009
Stubhub again?
I think I paid more for less. Hehe, good on you.

3/4 on the picks...

I'll go with Kendrick for his shity D that cost us a run.....but he did do good with the Palo.
acuda27 - April 25, 2009
Howie made 2 pretty poor plays. Woof.
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
Although ...
he looked much better at the plate.
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
Yeah, that's the thng.
Great defense probably wins us this game… but slightly better pitching definitely wins us this game. And at least Howie had some good ABs, which is more than we can pretend to say about Bulger, who basically did nothing right.
AlanFalcon - April 25, 2009
Davidson...
the kid is a lefty… has he gotten ANY lefties out so far? I’ve seen him face maybe 4 left-handed batters with all of them reaching base.
Downing Rules - April 25, 2009
you know i was thinking about that yesterday when Thompson got sent down....
and I honestly dont know of anyone he’s gotten out period.
norcaliangelsfan - April 25, 2009
Davidson was DFA'd
And another reliever brought up.
AlanFalcon - April 26, 2009
oh....well he shoulda been sent down for Ortega nonetheless.
norcaliangelsfan - April 26, 2009
I guess they wanted to give him one more chance
Since he was out of options. I would have done the same, I think.
AlanFalcon - April 26, 2009
one thing is for sure
kendry is a serious downgrade at first in terms of defense. there are numerous plays I have seen that both kotch and tex would have made every time. i truly believed that one of the reasons the angels outplayed “expectations” last year was specifically defense at first. remember discussions about hwo many games koth (and tex) had one simply by makeing the most clutch play at first ever.

TheAngelsAngels - April 26, 2009
wow
won, not one in the first paragraph.
TheAngelsAngels - April 26, 2009
IMO the entire team defense is down this year.......
not just first
norcaliangelsfan - April 26, 2009
definitely agree
but i think the rest are playing way down compared to their abilities. except maybe for napoli. but what im trying to say is i dont think kendry has the abilities. the rest can turn it around and it may just be a product of losing and being in a slump so when they get tehir rotation in order and improve, so will the d, but kendry will not and it will hurt us.

maybe he will also tho.
im cuban so i love the guy. i want kendry to be a breakout star.
