Living in Western Wisconsin, my FSN shows Milwaukee Brewers games. Before the Brewers - Cubs game yesterday, they had a brief ceremony honoring Nick Adenhart where they showed his picture on the big screen and had a moment of silence for the fallen Angel. Milwaukee wasn't the only place outside of Anaheim that players and fans showed their respect, each game was preceded by a moment of silence, and for that moment everyone throughout baseball recognized Nick Adenhart.
Below is a list of fans who came to Halos Heaven to grieve and to offer their condolences. For a short time, rivalries and differences were put aside and we were a family brought together by tragedy, to support one another, and to cry. Everyone's thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated, and we wanted to say thank you to each of you.
My apologizes if I've missed anyone or you're listed under the wrong team.

Wow.
I was so heartened to see all these fans of the game from different teams recognizing and making an effort to visit our home here on Halos Heaven. Thanks to each and every one of you, and to those who posted on threads within their own home blogs, and a special thanks to you WiHaloFan for compiling this list.

The Oakland Fans in particular were really cool
tanana40 - April 11, 2009
Just goes to show you
Despite all of our rivalry and the back and forth, we all know what is important. Fans of the game are first and foremost that.
Nick will be missed, by many.
matthiasstephan - April 11, 2009
It just goes to show
we can dislike every other team and talk crap etc…but when it comes down to it we all feel the same heart break and throw everything out and come together as one and help each other out. Baseball is beautiful.
angelskid2210 - April 11, 2009
I was surprised and truly heartened by...
the number of Cardinal, Cub, and Giant fans that posted condolences.
And yes, special thanks to Mariner, A’s, and Ranger fans.
There are some awesome people out there that just happen to be fans of other teams.
Add a final special thanks to WiHaloFan for compiling this list.

Great to see. Good sportsmanship and basic human compassion are alive and well.

Wow
That is truly an outpouring of support… and only from members of SBN. I haven’t commented on anything Adenhart-related since the accident, mostly because I was stunned by what happened. Halos Heaven is where I first saw the news along with messages from shocked fans (Angels and others alike). Since I haven’t said so yet (on HH), my deepest condolences to the Adenhart family (also the Stewarts and Pearsons). As for Nick, this world was robbed of a fine young man. Nick, you may be gone, but you will NEVER be forgotten. Have fun playing for a new team of Angels.

Thanks to all the visitors who came by to offer condolences.
In Jewish tradition, it’s a mitzvah (commandment) to offer solace to the mourning.
To all of you, thank you so much.

Stirrups posted thanks on Talking Chop
And I joined him in thanking those Braves fans who showed love and compassion in our time of need. once again the spirit of humanity and brotherhood trumps any rivalry or team colors. I’m going to continue posts of thanks to our SB brethren and friends, huge acknowledgement to WiHalofan for compiling the list of well wishers and those offering condolence. Didn’t mean to steal your thunder Stirrups, figured you appreciate the nod of appreciation.

I'm really late to the party here
but I’m here from Gaslamp Ball. This was a really nice thing to happen in the wake of something awful. I’m not sure what it is about the death of a young athlete, but they always seem to bring fans together in a positive way.

So sad
I hope everyone who took the time to comment on Nick’s story takes the time to stop a friend or acquaintance from driving under the influence. A few dollars in cab fare or offering to take a friend home may save a life. Drinking and driving destroys families. Remember that always.
Schmelts - April 12, 2009
One more time on behalf of the Cardinals, much love, I wish you all the best. Thanks for including me on your list. <3 Nick Adenhart
Ghosty - April 12, 2009
Late, from Seattle
Part of our teams’ nature as divisional rivals is that we know our rivals’ teams almost as well as we know our own. When an unspeakable tragedy like this happens, it feels like heartache to everyone who has that familiarity. The whole fraternity of baseball suffers. Everybody feels the sadness of a life being cut short so quickly, and can barely estimate how bad it feels for his family, friends and teammates.
I feel heartsick for Anaheim and what you are all going through. You and the Adenhart family are in our hearts right now.
Shrug - April 13, 2009
Family of Nick
I would just like to say to the family of Nick…God has a plan for us all. I am sure He had such a plan for Nick. My condolences to the family and friends of Nick. May you all be blessed.
GBU… Hoosier Guy 2009.

Another late-comer from Lone Star Ball
My condolences to the family and friends of Nick and the other two victims in this senseless tragedy. Perhaps this will bring more focus to the drunk driving prevention campaigns. My heart also goes out to Angels fans. I have two close friends who are Halos fans (yes, AL West division foes can be friends…ha ha). Also, I know how it feels to love a team and its players. They become an extension of our circle of friends and family, even if we’ve never spoken to them or even seen them in person.
I also talked briefly about Nick in my daily gamepost on the day the news broke. The link is here.

ive been in norcal without a comp so i missed all of this. Im still in disbelief, its like when you wake up from a bad nightmare expecting things to be okay only to realize that it was in fact reality and not a nightmare

Baseball Boss
This past offseason, I spent a lot of time playing the unique trading card game, Baseball Boss. I had a lot of fun and really got ready for the season. The team behind the game finally released the 2008 set as Spring Training began, and I had a lot of fun opening new packs of cards, and trading for Angel players. When ‘98 card sets were announced, I was excited that I would finally have a Tim Salmon card for my 2002 Angels Roster re-creation. I got a few packs of the Giants Legends card set, and found myself with a Barry Bonds, a Bobby Bonds, and a Willie McCovey card, and tried throwing them all on a team together to see how that roster would hold up. As trade rumors floated through the baseball world, I picked up Jake Peavy, Bobby Abreu, Paul Konerko, and Adam Dunn – then trying different combinations as I set my Angels team against others in the game. On April 1, Baseball Boss allowed teams to complete against the Simpson’s Nuclear Plant baseball team, with a player’s card from that team awarded with each victory. I literally jumped out of my seat when I saw that I won a Mike Scoscia card. The idea of Mike playing on his Angels team was very cool.
As the season began, I visited Baseball Boss less, absorbed in the real deal, and I had not returned since April 9th, as I was in no mood to play the game. But today, I decided to see how my cards were doing and was very happy to see that the Baseball Boss team, as shocked and saddened by the news of April 9th as much of the Baseball world, gave every person with an account, including those who made an account that day, a 2008 Nick Adenhart card. And even more, many people apparently created tribute lineups with Nick as the starting pitcher, to honor his memory.
I just wanted to share this.
AlanFalcon - April 14, 2009
My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
this was a sad and unfortunate incident.
Cubbie-Tim - April 14, 2009
So sad
Being a kid who has yet to even reach that age, this is very shocking and devastating because it brings out just how fragile life is. During these tragic times my thoughts and prayers are with Baseball, The Angles, Adenhart’s family and friends, and the Family and friends of the other victims of the accident.
RIP #34 Nick Adenhart

…who you can add to the list of those who were saddened by this incredibly tragic news. Having lost an acquaintance in a car accident three short years ago, I have some idea of how horrible it is to lose someone so young in this way.
MikeGianella - April 14, 2009
Late to party, but...
Sympathy and condolences for your loss, Angels nation. (Mariners fan)
I have to ask you though, isn’t it nice we have games like that, where we can absolutely forget everything else and focus on a game for three hours?
We won this round and I am happy. You guys will win rounds of this rivalry and you will be happy. In the long run, however, baseball will be eternally saddened by Adenhart’s death, there’s no way around that.
Here’s to a tremendous rivalry this year, knowing that us as Mariners fans and you as Angels fans will scream bloody murder at both teams to either perform well or perform not so well, but, as humans, we feel four your loss and do not doubt that if it happened you would feel for our loss.
—GoodKeith
GoodKeith - April 14, 2009
**correction
we feel your loss and do not doubt that if it happened to the Mariners you would feel for our loss.
GoodKeith - April 14, 2009
I write this after losing to the M's this evening...
..and the answer is an unequivocal yes. I would not wish this pain, this sense of loss on anyone. We want to beat your buns as badly as last year. But there are events in our lives – all of our lives- that transcend baseball, wins and losses, playoffs, and bragging rights.
This is about a 2 young men and one young woman that lost their lives for no reason other than they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It just as easily could have been you, could have been me, could have been any number of friends or relatives, or favorite athletes we follow.
So yes…if it happened to Brandon Morrow, or Carlos Silva, or Felix Hernandez, the loss would be as bad and we would be offering our condolences because it is not a loss just to the baseball community, it is a loss of decent people to decent people.
sothball - April 14, 2009
Here's my final point on this, then it's back to baseball...
I, as a Mariners fan, feel for the Angels loss and am seriously amazed that the Angels are able to play and also amazed the fans are back to the simple game. I know when I had a personal loss I wasn’t ready to emotionally come back to reality for a while. However, in the end it does come back to both reality and the reality that everything has to go on.
Personally, I feel that I will always despise the Angels on a team level (the “They’re our rivals!” level) but I know that they’re just guys getting paid to do what they’re good at with bills to pay, calls to return, jokes to tell and people to kiss. I may despise your favorite team but I respect the men involved with the team and will always find time to grieve for a fallen rival.
Now let’s dry our eyes and scream our lungs out when our boys go to play ball.
—GoodKeith
