On Wednesday, Halos Heaven hosted a chat with the LA TIMES' Mike DiGiovanna, the lead reporter on the team for the West Coast's largest circulating newspaper.
Click the link below to read the interesting chat transcript.
Considering that he grew up a Royals fan in the 80’s and then moved to Seattle in the 90’s he’s most likely the “journalist” that is biased the most against the Angels.
I won’t be able to make Mike D’s time slot, so can somebody make sure that the following question gets asked:
“Mike, I was listening to a panel discussion with you on the radio this past weekend when the A’s and Angels’ minor league systems were being discussed. You lamented how thin the Halos minor leagues have become of late. How do you jibe that with the overwhelming success of all the mL teams last year (playoff teams at almost every level). And how do you jibe that with this year’s phenomenal Spring Training success with large contributions from lots of players who will return to the minors?”
They are compilations of good observations by others elsewhere here on HH, to be delivered to a guy who just got done missing these very points on air.
Are you saying that the success of teams at the lower levels is due to rosters full of players who are already too old to make it through the ranks to the big league level in time to have any meaningful sort of career?
Well, he’s got stones to be willing to chat with us, I’ll give him that much. I probably won’t be able to make the other two, but I hope I’m around for the chat with Rob.
I’ve met him a couple of times, and we even talked about Halos Heaven a bit, and the fact that Angel fans think he’s biased. He was very good-natured about it all.
Excellent idea this, thanks for sorting it out.
I’m looking forward to all 3.
I suspect Rob Neyer’s could be lively.

P.S. - these are not original thoughts of mine.

It seems to me obvious
A lot of what passes for prospects are aging quad-A types (in some cases) or old-for-their-league guys.

Still having problems with the logic.
