Final Score in AZ: Angels 12, Rockies 3

Final Spring Training Score: Angels 12, Rockies 3

And this game was not even played in Coors Field!

THE GOOD: Jeff Mathis 2 for 2 w/2HR and 3 RBI

THE BAD: Not being able to tell which F. Rodriguez gave up the 3 run dinger in the bottom of the 7th - although we know for sure which F. Rodriguez it can no longer be. For the record, it was Fernando Rodriguez, Frankie 2.0 pitched a scoreless 9th.

THE UGLY: S-Rod and Matt Brown had some errorage out there...

The spring debut of John Lackey is 2 innings, no hits with a strikeout.

The worst news out of this game is that Dodger haters now see what a terribly weak opponent exists for Team Bluebell to mow thru in 2009.

also good:

Wood bringin the wood (3 for 4, 2B, single, HR) and with only 1 K so far in 12 spring ABs

Good Wood

Is he a SS, or a 3B with Figgy tradebait?

ideally

3B with Figgy as trade bait or in the OF (don’t ask where or how)

but with our organization, he’ll be back in AAA.

Sadly enough

That is probably true.

i suppose the question is what we'd be wanting in return for Figgins

its easy to say prospects but is Figgins really the type of guy that 1 year of is worth a prospect that justifies losing our leadoff hitter for? I just feel like we’d be giving him away at that point which isnt good business although Wood DOES need to be in the lineup

Its a rough situation that probably wont get sorted out until someone (Juan/Howie/Aybar/Fig) pulls a hammy although it would have been nice to have Wood take a strong spring and roll it directly into opening day. I feel like if he starts in AAA and then bounces back up for an injury replacement, he’ll have lost some of that mojo

so...

What happens if Mathis tears it up all spring and early on in the season?

What if Mathis and Wood both kill the ball, what then?

Mathis and Figgins for Peavy

Lyle Spencer FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good

Bring on Wilson!

I just hope

Soth opens his eyes and sees that he has a 30+ HR guy on the bench and he plays him.

Willits lived in a batting cage, where did that get him?
No, you misunderstand.

This means that Mathis will be able to defeat the Soviet Union’s greatest boxer now!

Good call. Nice.
