FINAL IN TEMPE: Angels 1, Athletics 8
It seems the only trouble the Angels are having in Spring Training games is with the one team that they better be able to handle in the regular season.
Jered Weaver paid for his early rust, settled down and then reached his pitch limit before he could get out of third inning trouble. Matt Willlhite was useless and Justin Speier had a flyball happy appearance, one of which went over the wall. Kevin Jepsen kept the bullpen roster open by giving up a run in the 7th and Rich Thompson made the one hundredth forgettable appearance of his Angels career in the 9th.
Mike Napoli had a solo homerun and Kendry went 3 for 3. Other than a Figgins single, that was the offense for today. The pitching highlight was prospect Will Smith's Spring Training debut, pitching a scoreless 6th.
That familiar refrain "Hope Weaver figures it out soon" returns like a pop melody stuck in the head of Angel fans everywhere.

Box score request
I think it’d be cool to link to the box score, if you could, when doing these posts.
As such.

Kendrick continues his 2 spot ways
For some reason, this guy just doesn’t hit in the two spot. At the end of last year anaheim angel (I think) did the math and he hit about .235 in the two spot.
Not that I think we should quit trying him there. It’s just that when I look at the boxscore and see Howie batting 2, it’s the first thing I think about.
It’s early and he will get more chances. Surely, he can’t be jinxed forever at the two spot.

Oh yeah, and nice to see Naps get his 1st dinger.

DP prone
Howie’s double play prone and I think is a liability in the 2 spot. I’d prefer he hit lower in lineup until he can find some sort of consistency.
