Positional battles?
What battles are we talking about? 5th starter? 7th reliever? That’s about it, right?
Figgins will start at 3B. There will be a 4-man rotation through the OF/DH spots. If Naps starts the season on the DL, Mathis will catch most games and Budde will back him up.
I mean, you never know, but I doubt if there will be any suspense outside the #5 pitcher.
When Reagins said "We are going to let the youngsters play"
he meant “we dont want to sign any of the FAs left on the market unless they throw themselves at us, naked and crying, and play for 25% of their value”
Seems to me that the first four choices have been hammered to death around here already, with all possible data and opinions accessible via archives. The fifth choice is a step towards the dark side, as the Mariners found out last season. That leaves only my Option #6, which is not on the poll.
I’ve only been to Tempe once and I thought all that talk was just a bunch of cliches. But when I got down to Mill Ave. guess who was there doing their thing? Girls Gone Wild.
If Wood shows big improvement they may feel comfortable enought to put Figgy on the market. A lot can happen with injuries (even those on other teams) that can lead to moves. Wood need to show this spring that he belongs in the show.
Im ready for some baseball………It’s time to be thankful for a winning sports organization for a change instead of the crap fest that is the Buffalo Bills…….
Who said anything about the lowly Bills. But I agree on one thing….bring on the baseball season already. I want to see some spring games. It passes the time when I’m not watching Nascar on Sunday’s, and college/pro basketball the rest of the week. That is until the regular season starts, then it’s all baseball all the time. GO HALOS!

Shortstop?
Higz - February 18, 2009
3rd base, outfield vs DH, catcher if Napoli is out for a while.
Downing Rules - February 18, 2009
I'd be surprised if those were battles.

ArkAngel - February 18, 2009
Agree Ark.
Maybe shortstop…
If it isn’t Wood the team is blowing it.
jimmuscomp - February 18, 2009
That's probably the biggest battle there is
Wood vs. Aybar vs. Izturis
Higz - February 18, 2009
agreed.
howiestheman - February 18, 2009
It'll be Aybar on Opening Day
Wood would have to tear the cover off the ball all Spring.
ArkAngel - February 18, 2009
So then exactly what youngsters are we going to play?
hauldog - February 18, 2009
On a regular basis?
My guess would be Aybar, Kendrick, and Morales. Unless you count the starting pitchers. They’re pretty young.
ArkAngel - February 18, 2009
Um those young guys already had a job. Morales not included.
hauldog - February 19, 2009
You asked "What youngsters are we going to play?"
I answered your question.
ArkAngel - February 19, 2009
Well I took Tony's statement to mean
“New” young guys would get a chance.
Besides it is not like they were going to sign a veteran SS, 2B or catcher.
hauldog - February 19, 2009

PhiSlamma - February 19, 2009
So how does Abreu look naked?
Sounds like you were there…
Rev Halofan - February 19, 2009
can't we have it all?
SoCalWine - February 18, 2009
Nothing about the night scene in Tempe?

Stirrups - February 18, 2009
I like this idea
so after option #5 in which we get to watch more games we hit this place up and then talk about options 1-4!
angelskid2210 - February 18, 2009
Night scene in Tempe?
When I have gone there, it’s seemed like Leisure Village…without the bingo.
sothball - February 18, 2009
Dude. Really. You need a new wingman.
Tempe is home to Arizona State University.
ASU is home to the hottest coeds in America. As voted by many.
Stirrups - February 18, 2009
Was that a proposal?
Big Easy Halofan - February 18, 2009
Yeesch.
sothball - February 19, 2009
sweet bro! lets bust out the video tape and go looking for some talent dude!
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - February 18, 2009
It's true
I’ve only been to Tempe once and I thought all that talk was just a bunch of cliches. But when I got down to Mill Ave. guess who was there doing their thing? Girls Gone Wild.
turs12 - February 18, 2009
Now…
how about some Tempe “Girls Gone Mild”?
sothball - February 19, 2009
please note my sarcasm.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - February 19, 2009
Mrs. Wing-chick might have something to say about that suggestion!
OK. Your’e right. I mis-took Tempe for Mesa (or Chandler or Guadalupe or ???).
sothball - February 19, 2009

Next on HH.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - February 18, 2009
I would love to participate in this discussion...
but what is a “gage”?
cupie - February 18, 2009
Wikipedia says...
Something, as a glove, thrown down by a medieval knight in token of challenge to combat.
or
Gage is the generally used term in the mechanical engineering field in reference to various instruments for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
angelskid2210 - February 18, 2009
Uh, the Engineering term would be
“Gauge”
red floyd - February 18, 2009
I am just
going by what Wikipedia is telling me.
angelskid2210 - February 18, 2009
Instead of Gauging your eyes out
I wrote the word as it sounds
Rev Halofan - February 18, 2009
