So we made it down to the Angels Team Store for some Holiday shopping. Whole store is 40 % off...
Arte is the only picture left in the Stadium facade windows and this pic will have to go soon as Vlad, Figgy and Lackey are there with him....
The billboard printing machine will have to be cranking out a Matsui, but the pulling of all the images signals that there will be a new use of the team logo in most of the stadium signage - probably incorporating that "Star" logo for the All Star Game - the one with all of its stupid text covering over the star itself.
The Vlad shirts are $8.99, the Vlad and Lackey jerseys are $20, even cool ones with the retro 70s Small "a" "angels"...
I ran out of the store and cried a little by where the Adenhart shrine used to be. It all finally hit me. A new decade is dawning in Los Angeles of Anaheim ... let's hope it is as successful as the one that just passed... I went in and resumed shopping ... all kids stuff for the nephews and a niece... hope they grow up with as many good memories AND winning memories as we have all had as fans.

Commander_Nate - December 21, 2009
but how are we all going to react
when Vlad is representing in another team’s uni for the HR contest? And how about if Chone is there in a Seattle uni and Sha-Lackey in a Sux uni???
Dono Romantico - December 22, 2009
Phhhhht hahahahahaaha!
Vlad in the HR contest? For real?

I'm pretty confident this decade will start out well for the Angels
We are set up going into the 2010’s far better than we were going into the 2000’s and look how this decade turned out.
If we keep this infield and the 4 starters we have now, plus Rivera (who at 30/31 is just entering his prime years) and keep adding talent from the farm and the market as needed, we should be good for several more years.
Commander_Nate - December 21, 2009
there are 5 giant pictures?
i say Scioscia, Hunter, AS Game, Morales, Matsui
howiestheman - December 21, 2009
SIX -as they will remove that ESPN Fan Friendly cover
Rev Halofan - December 21, 2009
ahhh
then throw Weaver in there, too
howiestheman - December 21, 2009
Morales?
Not yet…too early to be giving him a banner. I love Kowbell but I bet it will be two pitchers and three players.
Weaver, Fuentes, Hunter, Matsui, All-Star, Abreu
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - December 21, 2009
it's too early for K-Mo
but you’ll give one to Fuentes? hmmm….
howiestheman - December 21, 2009
Santana or Saunders or Shields
Rev Halofan - December 21, 2009
Saunders
probably isn’t a bad guess.
howiestheman - December 21, 2009
Six Windows wil be:
All-Star Game, Sciosca, Torii Hunter and…
Rev Halofan - December 21, 2009
Weave, Kendry and Matsui
Epic Dean - December 21, 2009

ryanfea - December 21, 2009
Really......
Who cares the only thing that matters is putting up Championship banners! Those never change!!
Angel Aviator - December 21, 2009
This reminded me of another reason I thought the FO would do more . . . the All Star game.
“A new decade is dawning in Los Angeles of Anaheim … let’s hope it is as successful as the one that just passed…” true true.

I actually was at the team store today too and I noticed all of the depressing signs...
whether it was the empty facads or the enormous amount of Lackey, Figgy, and Vladdy gear but then…
I looked out through the diamond club windows and got a glimpse of the rocks, seats, and field and realized at the heart of the matter, its all the same and baseball will be back before we know it.
a lil optimism for everyone
Go Halos!

An End is also a Beginning...
T O N S of young talent on this squad. Chances are almost every game will begin with the only 30 year olds on the Angels team in the outfield or on the bench. Even Izzy doesn’t turn 30 til September. And all our starting pitchers are under 30 correct? Crazy…
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - December 21, 2009
and by outfield, i am also am including the bullpen.
which sits…in the outfield.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - December 21, 2009
Excuse me, but if I'm not mistaken, the ANGELS are the local team...
… This is what came to mind while shopping in the Westminster Mall earlier this evening. As I came out the lower level JC Penney, there was a calendar kiosk, so I figured I’d browse and see what they had. When I got to the sports section, I was rather peeved to find they had lots and lots of Boston Red Sox and New York Yankee wall and desk calenders. There were also SF Giants desk calenders. Looking all around I found a grand total of ZERO Angels calenders. I would like to think that maybe they just sold out of them, but didn’t see any empty spots on the shelves where they could have originally have been. At least, not in the same kind of quantities as the Red Sox and Yankee calenders. The kiosk attendant was busy with several customers, so I didn’t feel like waiting to ask where the &*#$ the Angels calenders were.
Could somebody please tell me why it seems to be there are so many damn Red Sox and Yankee fans in SoCal? Cold weather transplants? Bandwagon jumpers?
It’s embarrassing when there is a televised game at Angel Stadium against one of those teams and when A-Rod or Jeter get a hit the cheering is so loud the national viewers would probably think the game was actually at Fenway or Yankee Stadium. Where the heck is home team loyalty with those people? I mean, when they attend a football game at their kid’s high school, do they cheer for the visiting team?
Does anyone more well-traveled than me know if there are other cities in the U.S. where half the fans in the stadium could be cheering for the other team, or is this some kind of Southern California phenomenon?
Okay, got that off my chest. Sorry for the rant. (and I don’t have to worry… I know my wife already got me an Angels calender for Christmas … from somewhere else).
Hoppity Hooper - December 21, 2009
Most of them are phonies who aren’t that into baseball. They just cheer for the team with the biggest name. Yankee fans are unique in that they actually can watch every Yankee game on TV. Boston’s “fans” are the biggest poseurs around. You can’t tell me that the 10 thousand Red Sox fans who show up when they come to Anaheim are ALL subscribed to MLB.com. I call bullshit on them. Most of them don’t even know who the center fielder is.
firebird81 - December 21, 2009
of course….there are also those who use the opportunity to come to California for vacation..Anaheim is, after all…..one of the top tourist destinations in the world…something about a mouse….
firebird81 - December 21, 2009
the two feet of snow they got this weekend
probably delivers a few thousand more here by summer.

Speaking of institutions whose time has come and gone!
Might I suggest the likes of J.C. Penney and Sears? Montgomery Wards has already bitten the dust and today it’s as if they never existed.
These kinds of stores have a business model that doesn’t work any more.
Red Sox and Yankee calendars, but no Angel calendars in Westminster Mall?
Very square peg, very round hole.
R.I.P. J.C. Penney.
The Angels are VERY 21st Century.
Don’t confuse the Angels relevance by what a clueless icon of the PAST century offers for sale. They evidently think we’re still the Angels that existed when THEY were relevant.

Follow the BIllionaire
to see what moves he is making. Arte has just now figured out that he has to go after Japonese yen to subsodize for our economy and where it is still headed………down.
But don’t worry, the US government will save us.
Hahahahahaha
