It's AM 830
When are they not playing some kind of forclosure or debt-relief commercial?
Between that and the signal being overtaken by some worship station down here in SD half of the time, my commute is pretty interesting sometimes. Thankfully, it’s only about 20 minutes long.
I’m a First Amendment absolutist, and it’s Arte’s station to do whatever the heck he want with. But I would point out that the “Top Gun” DUI guy and the “Ridin’ Dirty” bit are… for a lack of a better word… tacky.
That'd be sweet. Do you know if that was really his walk-up music in NY?
On another note, one of the first things I thought about was the classic rock connections of the last two big acquisitions: Matsui(Godzilla) and Kazmir(Kashmir). Now if only the Angels would sign a rad closer with the last name Highwaystar, my life would be complete.
After two days of venting, I can be a little more philosophical about this. Matsui is relatively low risk, doesn’t tie down the team and still has gas in his tank. He can be a good middle of the order type of hitter.
Moreover, if the Angels can parlay the money that they did not spend on Lackey or Figgins and use it for a front line pitcher (who?), than maybe this won’t be that bad.
Although Matsui is old and slow, much like Vlad, at least he has a higher baseball IQ. He probably won’t run into as many outs on the basepaths. Vlad seemed to have the unique ability to get thrown out at second or third at the worst possible times.
If you feel that all of this is a load of garbage, please work with me, I’m trying to be optimistic.
We have four top-of-the-line starters still on the staff for this year—enough for the playoffs. Those guys are going to be wanting more money in the next few years. Save the cash for Weav, Saunders, and ?. Look past this year, folks.
Unlike dear ol’ Vlade, Godzilla has come through in the clutch innumerable times over the years, and his last Series game was epic. Reminds me of Reggie Jackson vs. the Dodgers in—what was that—‘77? In fact this whole deal reminds me of our pick-up of Reggie in—what was that—’82? (When I became an Angel fan after moving out here in ’79.)

Oh, and GOHZIRRA!!!!!
Commander_Nate - December 16, 2009
Great "Departed" quote, btw...
Thanks, Commander; I’m going to use it in my classes.
Go Godzilla!
Raaddad - December 16, 2009
Thanks But Rev made me take it down
Too offensive for some I guess.
:(
Commander_Nate - December 16, 2009
my vote isn't listed
Ridin’ Dirty – how to avoid felony DUIs
clover_black - December 16, 2009
that show is real classy
Especially after the Adenhart tragedy.
Jay Cal - December 16, 2009
I listened to a few minutes of it. How does that show stay on the air?
opiejeanne - December 16, 2009
Confucius says...
if a radio station is on the air, but nobody listens to it, does it truly exist?
clover_black - December 16, 2009
I think that's a zen koan, not so much Confucius.
Good question though. The lead guy has the personality of plasterboard, and his topic can be completely covered in about 20 minutes.
opiejeanne - December 16, 2009
confucius. zen koan. hideki matsui.
what me worry?
clover_black - December 16, 2009
I need to write a letter to TIm Mead

red floyd - December 16, 2009
Im not really sure how that gets on their air.
Im really curious about other programs they declined, before they green lighted that masterpiece.
clover_black - December 16, 2009
It's hard to imagine what was worse.
opiejeanne - December 16, 2009
Michael Savage?
Hey-o…he IS off 830 now, right? IIRC?
Clutch - December 16, 2009
Oh dear lord, that is worse.
opiejeanne - December 16, 2009
They should play his walk-on music, "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult
44FAN - December 16, 2009
i hope so…
Rev Halofan - December 16, 2009

Mayheminthehood - December 16, 2009
That's what it says in his Wiki page.
And his personal translator’s name is Roger Kahlon. We will probably get to know him.
44FAN - December 16, 2009
I love that! Definitely going to be a crowd pleaser.
Mayheminthehood - December 16, 2009
What's the reference?
Clutch - December 16, 2009
not the vapors
turning japenese?
clover_black - December 16, 2009
Oh, no! There goes Tokyo! Go-go Godzilla!!!
red floyd - December 16, 2009

Rent-a-Rant Lee. That got my vote and made me laugh.
opiejeanne - December 16, 2009
After this week, it's got to be colon-cleansing....
mustard_man - December 16, 2009
With godzilla on the team now
does this mean their will be longer lines at panda express?
J WEAV Express - December 16, 2009
No
No, but it does mean that sushi might become popular. Panda Express=Chinese, Sushi= Japanese
righteous halo - December 16, 2009
The was racist and ignorant, and hilarious
Higz - December 16, 2009
As Meat Loaf once poetically put it
2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
OntariGro - December 16, 2009
Maybe its not so bad

Ben Sheets
Would be my first choice.
Bedard or Garland would not upset me either.
Commander_Nate - December 16, 2009
save the money
We have four top-of-the-line starters still on the staff for this year—enough for the playoffs. Those guys are going to be wanting more money in the next few years. Save the cash for Weav, Saunders, and ?. Look past this year, folks.
angelsncrkrjks - December 16, 2009
i see...
good thing about matsui is we can get those sweet japnese head bands now… haha the ninja signed a ninja … well alright!
J WEAV Express - December 16, 2009
Good left-handed bat for playoffs in Fenway or the Yankee Stadium Launching Pad
Meanwhile, Lackey looks funny wearing a Boston hat..
Fred Fredrix - December 16, 2009
Matsui is clutch and epic
Unlike dear ol’ Vlade, Godzilla has come through in the clutch innumerable times over the years, and his last Series game was epic. Reminds me of Reggie Jackson vs. the Dodgers in—what was that—‘77? Raaddad - December 16, 2009
Vlade Divac plays baseball?
Higz - December 16, 2009
He tried
but he flopped too much getting out of the way of the fastball….and went back to basketball…
Raaddad - December 16, 2009
Ahhh!!! Note to self: Hit "reply," idiot.
