UPDATE: (Link) "It was a very short meeting." -Steve Physioc to the LA Times.
Although the news was announced in a Fox Sports Press Release, make no mistake that the first mark of the John Carpino regime in Anaheim has been made, as longtime Angels announcers Steve Physioc and Rex Hudler were let go earlier today. Here is a LINK TO THE NEWSBREAK HERE (and 100+ comments, most of them first reactions to the announcement) via poster thenextlevel from Tuesday afternoon.
Has someone finally heard us here at Halos Heaven:
2009: Angels Announcer Steve Physioc: Worst in Baseball
2006: Steve Physioc is the Weakest Link
2005: Rex Hudler and Steve Physioc Must Be Terminated
I am on the record as despising the hayseed broadcasting style of Steve Physioc. OC Register columnist Mark "Garrido" Whicker took me to task (LINK) for citicizing the Angels broadcaster when Whicker admittedly had not even listened to Physioc's wretched and infantile narcissism at the microphone.
In the case of Rex Hudler, while serving as an enthusiastic representative of the Angels brand, Hud's broadcasting might have had one too many segues into advice for little leaguers while the commercials on the Angels game telecasts veered toward the decidedly adult horror movie sequels, Jack Daniels (please drink responsibly) and menopause Jack in the Box juice jokes.
The move will see Rory Markas and Mark Gubicza take over full time television broadcasting duties. On the radio will be Jose Mota and Terry Smith. This is definitely the franchise taking the step toward an overall appearance of professionalism at the expense of personality. Carpino's branding of this team is as a first class national presence instead of a regional amusement.
Hud will be missed ... and even the biggest Hudler detractors have got to understand that he is as much an icon to Angels fans as any non-player in the history of the franchise, especially to fans under thirty.
Physioc can go play Trivial Pursuit with high school sophomores to get what he is after: the ego gratification of having the correct answer and slickly delivering it in a phony manner and a superior tone to his audience of presumed inferiors.
Good luck, Rex, may we see you down the road. Goodbye Steve, you will not be missed.

Rory Markas and Mark Gubicza are boring as fuck
Angelsfan_61 - November 24, 2009
I personally like how Rory and Gubie joke together
also 3 F-Bombs is a little much.

Rory & Gub... it could be worse still
I didn’t mind Phyz all that much and Hud, well… I will miss that guy. Fuck this decision and keep Mota in his original spot!

Gubicza flat-out SUCKS! He’s just blah. The marbles in his mouth and that Philly accent are so grating. And then there’s the Royals stories…

I always knew something was off about Rex
Thanks to this I realize he had multiple personalities

I think this is purely a financial move
maybe making some room to sign halladay long term before they work out a deal?
anyway, too bad they waited til thanksgiving to break the news. i am 23, so i have mainly only known phys and hud. they will be greatly missed by this fan and i hope they both move on to do at better (or at least equal) things in their life. thank you guys!

I’m going to miss them.

Pilot to Bombardier
I don’t think you could have possibly said it any better Rev. That’s literally exactly how I feel about the reasons for the move, Hud, and Physioc.
The one thing I will say is that Physioc definitely seemed like a really really good person from everything I’ve heard about him, so it’s hard to completely resent him. Nonetheless, his release was way overdue. He was out of touch with the real fans, he worked in too many opinions and suggestions into broadcasts for a PBP guy (and 95% of them were asinine), and the voice just got more and more annoying with time. Unfortunately, his firing came too late to spare me the pain of the obnoxious, fake laugh that regularly haunts my dreams.
Gubicza and Rory are the consummate professionals and are the perfect replacements. They add enough personality to keep the broadcast going (and they are kind of funny sometimes), but they actually think about what they are saying before they say it! Hud and Phyzz were always good for 7-10 absolutely off-the-wall, logic-defying comments per broadcast.
Spird - November 24, 2009
I love that line. Hud is unique and entertaining.
Maybe a bit much for 162, but that is the great thing about how it was mixed up a lot. To keep it fresher. We’ll see how happy everyone is after 162 of the same duos.
Where’s the party Rev? Your dream came true. Too bad it had to come at Hud’s expense too.
BTW, Phys wasn’t great, and at times downright sucked, but he wasn’t as terrible as some folks here make it out to be. There are definitely worse announcers in the majors.
One of the promos on the radio was Hud and phys yelling ‘SAFE’ at the same time. That was good entertainment.
Wally's World - November 24, 2009
Disappointed
Rex is far, far better than either Gubicza or Mota.
UK Halo - November 24, 2009
Yoda Mota?
Touching them all with the great power of your bat, this is why you are here with the Angels? (blatantly stolen from a Rev comment elsewhere)
AlanFalcon - November 25, 2009
Finally
But bitter sweet. Mota is awful. Come on Communications department, Tim Mead. Does not take a rocket scientist to recommend to the owner to Hire Dick Enberg!
But, as I have stated in the past Rex and Steve announce the game, like they have a 9-13 year old audience. In the end, this may be a way just to save money, couldnt they take Mota too!!! Rory, is not great, just ok.
Bring Dick Enberg in, at least maybe for home games? and no, Rex is not as good as Gubicza, not even close.

The two seemed to be overhyping promotions then just calling a darn baseball game. I wouldnt mind, having Ross Porter as the Angels Radio man. Jose Mota is horrrrible. But, that is Arte’s boy. I mean who would translate if we did not have Mota.

Got to GO...
Good move…!! Bout time !! Both announcers became too much of a circus, Phys with his frequent errors [E-phys] and his two innings of announcing the game, then his repeating the entire process at least four times [ok, so the math doesn’t work]…way too much repeating…get my point…repeating himself…you know, saying things over again…get it? REX took his clown act way too far. Now I know he has respect for the game, sometimes his comments are insightful, especially when he relates what a player has to deal with in certain situations…comments like that were too rare. He is a baffoon [way too much caffeine—and maybe too much of other things as well], he acted as if he was the “show” and in that sense he disrespects the audience and the game. I got to the point where I’d turn down the tv sound and listen to the game on radio, with satellite television, it didn’t match up, but anything was better than those two idiots.
The Angels served notice….ever listen to a Yankee broadcast…class act…even if you hate the Yankees….the Angels want their product to be entertaining…ON THE FIELD… and today related to their listeners with some sense of acknowledgment that as fans we are not stupid. We don’t need Sesame Street.
Way to go Artie! Now…tell Lackey to either take what he is offered or get out of town, we can get Halladay…I love Big John, but its put up or shut up…

Terrific analysis of Rex angelmike !
I’ve tried to say in a lot of posts what you said in just a few sentences.
A few times the past couple of years I listened to the opposing team’s broadcast on Gameday Audio because I needed a Rex break. It doesn’t mean we don’t like the guy.
The other thing you said that struck a responsive chord is your “We don’t need Sesame Street” comment.
California Cajun - November 24, 2009
You call Susan Waldman a class act???
OH MY! I would take phys and Hud any day of the week over her.
Wally's World - November 24, 2009
Obviously angelmike has never listened to a Yankee broadcast
Suzyn Waldman and her orgasmic welcome back to Roger Clemons is a classic in unprofessionalism. John Sterling’s homerisms are beloved by Yamkee fans and NO ONE ELSE!!! “An A-Bomb from A Rod” “A TeixT message to right field” and no umpire call against the Yanks is legit.
You must have been listening to Bobby Murcer and Scooter — both class acts and both dead.
Moondoggy - November 24, 2009
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing... the Yankees broadcasts I've listened to have sent me running back to Phyzz. And I *HATE* Phyzz.

Susan Waldman?
The very epitome of buffoon.

I’m conflicted on Rex, I felt he was too overtly a homer, yet I will definitely miss his enthusiasm.
Physioc is just too obviously training to be the next Joe Buck and heaven forfend he goes on to anything that involves MORE people having to listen to his stentorian drone.
fordprefect - November 24, 2009
You knew this was going to happen one day
The whole idea of this broadcasting carousel the past three years was to find a TV alternative to Physioc and Hudler.
I never really had a problem with Physioc, even though he wasn’t one of my favorites.
Hudler’s compulsive talking did him in. He knew how to do the job properly and do it with personality, but either couldn’t or wouldn’t discipline himself to let the game take center stage.
I have never been excited about Gubicza and think he will have to become more polished to keep his job long-term.
Mota is too heavily accented. Since I am primarily a radio listener, maybe I will get used to him because he impresses me as someone who knows his stuff.
Rory Markas and Terry Smith are great.
If it were my decision to make I would have kept Rory and Terry on radio since they work so well together and brought in a new TV team.
At the end of the day, I think TV ratings concerns dictated the changes. The guys doing the talking go a long way in making people want to watch the broadcasts and buy the sponsor’s products. There’s a lot of competition for viewers.
California Cajun - November 24, 2009
great point
Angels telecasts have bad ratings and you have to figure the casual fan gets sick of yammering over the action that was the trademark of especially phyz…
Rev Halofan - November 24, 2009
"The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are sorry to announce that
just 24 hours after Mark Texiera and Derek Jeter finished a strong second and third to Joe Mauer in the American League MVP voting, Steve Physioc has not been renewed as announcer for the 2010 season. Steve’s final broadcast was Game 6 of the American League Championship victory by the New York Yankees over the Angels, which saw Johnny Damon and The Great Alex Rodriguez blow open the game in the 4th inning against Joe Saunders. As we all know, the Yankees would go on to win their 27th World Series, and their first in their new home.
Steve’s career with the Halos was showcased by some of the greatest team and individual moments in franchise history. These include Barry Bonds’ moonshot home run off of Troy Percival in the 2002 World Series. Bonds, of course, would end up owning home run records once owned by The Immortal Babe Ruth, as well as the very fine Roger Maris, both Yankees.

Never good to hear that
someone has lost their job. Especially in this economy. Although, I must admit, I have been calling for these two to be fired for approximately 4 years. I am sure nostalgia will likely rear its ugly head more than once come April 2010.
With regard to Rex and Phys. Rex is consistently off base, but is a great little spark plug, and as tough as it is to say, his energy will be missed. With regard to Physioc, I unfortunately will be tortured with on the occasional Bruin basketball, or football game. He offered nothing but “coach speak” and rhetoric. Essentially, I feel that anyone could step in and read his script. The fact of the matter is that I hated on Rex extensively, he was never prepared, and usually made some ridiculous comment about being pumped up, or how great Arte is for letting him come back after his “mistake.” Don’t get me wrong, I could care less if my announcer gets high. I was just hoping for some announcers that wouldn’t perform verbal fellatio on our oponents, and didn’t annoy the shit out of me. However, at this point I am feeling like I kicked a dog while he was down. While these two added remarkably little to the broadcast, I feel somewhat bad for blogging for the axing. After all, no one blogs for me to get fired, I hope.
Best of luck to the both of them, however, we will be much better off.
bruinbrah - November 24, 2009
Rex and Phyzz are gonna end up on their feet.
The sentiment is nice, but these two were overmatched at their jobs. If I couldn’t teach well – and it was broadcast to a relatively big regional audience – I’d have been canned after one season – not 14 and 11. These guys got what they deserved.

He brought that extra something special to the broadcasts. And he’s a great guy from what I understand. This franchise is definitely going to be missing something. • Baseball Hall of Fame as an announcer
• Been with the Padres since 1972 [was Angels announcer in 1970-71]
• Managed the Padres for 1 yr 1980
• Was an All-Star in 1950 for the Yankees
• Has 4 WS rings
• 3rd in ROY voting
• Flew 120 combat missions in WWII and the Korean War and was honored with numerous medals
• Has come up with several memorable calls throughout his career, including “You can hang a star on that one”, and “Oh, Doctor!”
His broadcasts may be a little bumpy at times, but I don’t think any American with red blood is happy to see Jerry Coleman “go.” I hope this was his choice.

Gubi's a little dry for me
but i love Rory. i still think Rory and Rex would be the greatest broadcasting team
howiestheman - November 24, 2009
announcers I wish we would have but wont!
Like I said, would love to see Dick Enberg, even if its part time, or just for home games? Ross Porter would be a good fit on Radio. For an analysis, I would like to see a former Angel who played for Gene Mauch, Bruce Kison? Fred Lynn? Reggie Jackson? Rod Carew? Bob Boone? Etc Etc. I like Gubby’s stories, but they are all from the Kansas City Royals days.
We would only hear Rex and his perspective as a player from being a pinch hitter or a bench player .
Ca1IFORNIA ANGELS - November 24, 2009
I would love to have Ross Porter
But he is 71-years-old (November 29).
For the ones who mentioned Jerry Coleman, he is 85-years-old.
I think the Angels are after broadcasters who are good enough and can stay long enough to become woven into the fabric of the team and make their broadcasts a hot commodity. I would also guess that they don’t want people who are so famous they are associated with past work, or would split duties between the team and a network, or be part timers.
Steve Physioc was good in my opinion but the Angels probably felt that he would never become an Angel legend and create a demand for their broadcast rights. Rory Markas might have that star power if given the chance.
Vin Scully proved how important a legendary broadcaster is for his team. After the O’Malleys sold out, I think there were some years when all the Dodgers had going for them were their famous announcer and their famous uniform.
California Cajun - November 25, 2009
Never was a fan of Ross Porter ...
He sounded intoxicated. Sort of like how Charlie Steiner does now.
Don’t care for Rick Monday, either. Pompous, and living off the flag incident, which all of us all tired of, thank you. So you saved a flag from a stoned hippie, you rule.
Most of the Dodgers’ announcing staff is pretty insufferable. Steve “Psycho” Lyons is also weak, on the TV side.
I much prefer the Angels crew, and will miss the Hud dog. But not Phys, who had the mental acuity of Forrest Gump.
LazorkoRules - November 25, 2009
Lord, I hated Ross Porter.
“And that pitch is a ball.”
“2 balls and 1 strike on Adam Abelskeever.”
“In 2001, while playing in Pawtucket in the minor leagues, Adam hit .485 with a 2-1 count against left-handed pitchers during day games. Since then, he has had seasons of .401, .398, .415, .427, .350, .466 and, most recently, .405.”
“The year he hit only .398 with 2 and 1 counts was his first year in the majors, and the year he hit only.350 was the year he was injured with a broken fibula.”
“Curveball in there for strike 2.”
“Speaking of broken fibulas, there have been 216 major leaguers throughout history who have suffered that injury, and the average number of games missed has been 113. The most notable of those was Homer Crackenbush of the old Cincinnati Red Legs back in 1913. Homer missed only 66 games with his injury, and came back to steal 53 bases that same season. Homer was a remarkable 16 stolen bases out of 16 tries on Sunday games.”
“Sinker low, ball three.”
“When asked about never getting thrown out on Sundays, Homer’s reply was that he had made a promise to his Maker that if he got healed, he would use his new leg to never get caught stealing on The Lord’s Day. Back then they played quite a few double-headers on Sundays, as makeup games for earlier rainouts. The April and May rainfall in Cincinnati that year was a phenomenal 10 inches above average, which played havoc with the schedules.”
“Ball four. He walked him.”
Stirrups - November 25, 2009
Awesome
That’s exactly why I pretty much despised Porter when he was with the Dodgers. And to give you an idea of how much I dislike Physioc, I’m on record here (on more than one occasion) as lobbying for the Angels to hire Porter. He’s annoying, but at least he’s far more professional than Phyz. And he doesn’t treat his listeners like a bunch of 8-year olds.
jjackflash - November 25, 2009
I dont see anything permanent about our current broadcast team
I wouldnt be surprised at all if before spring training they announce a new broadcaster or even team who will pick up 15-30 games this season and then, just like this move, will take over full-time in 2011. Break the ice one year, take over the next.
I will miss Hudler a lot. He’s a fan favorite and if the Angels don’t keep him around somehow, they’re going to probably be surprised how many disappointed mom and dad fans dislike Rory and Gubi 100% of the time.
And let’s be real here: while he’s an upgrade over Physioc, Gubi is HORRIBLY boring and awkward on the mic.
WE may not be stupid, but whether you like it or not, a lot of people who go to Angel games are. This team, despite its LA name, is the team of a affluent suburb full of families. We can try to be New York or Boston or Los Angeles all we want, but the truth is that the we aren’t LA as much as they want to think we are.
ihearhowie2.0 - November 24, 2009
if we win three world series in the next 6 years
we’ll be internationally identified with urban LA and Arte is preparing to reinforce that notion should the chips fall his way.
Rev Halofan - November 24, 2009
Terry Smith is a solid announcer...I dont care what anyone says. I love listening to him on the radio.
Guby and Rory are mediocre. I like Guby’s enthusiasm and knowledge but it does get tiring.
Later Phyz….peace out Hud.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - November 24, 2009
Hud was quickly on his way to becoming the face of the franchise.
Sort of like Tommy Lasorda, after his managing career was over. I think there may have been a sort of analysis – “Do we really want this to happen from a brand / marketing perspective?” And the answer was no.
I would expect that there will be a major outcry amongst the fans regarding Hud, he was building a lot of equity & goodwill, and was pretty uniformly regarded as excellent in dealing with the public.
But I’m certain that the focus groups and strategists took a look at the numbers and decided that female fans and the 18 – 34 demographic preferred Gubi and Rory.
Remember, Arte is a marketing genius. Few people make a billion dollars on outdoor signs.
LazorkoRules - November 24, 2009
This sucks.
I really don’t like letting phyz or rex go. Rex for obvious reasons, but Physioc is a professional play-by-play announcer. You’ll probably see him doing national telecasts for FOX next season. Too bad we let him go.
Another thing – imagine if hundreds of strangers wrote on a blog about how terrible you are at your job and how you should be fired when you do your best day in and day out.
Not cool, IMO. Enough with the Physioc bashing.
ryanb517 - November 24, 2009
Why is bashing a bad performance not cool?
A discussion of his job performance is not even like whipping him with locker room towels. it should not hurt a man at all. Oh… yeah, the issue of Physioc’s manliness, i get it…

I’m entirely umoved by Phyzioc being let go, as he’s entirely apathetic to the Halos or being their broadcaster anyway.
But letting go of Rex feels like cutting out a bit of the soul of the organization. Like a necessary step towards building a more generic, homogenized franchise.
Sure, Rex was the Huell Howser of sports broadcasters. But that’s why I like him.
So now I’m just supposed to go back to my drinking game of taking a shot every time Rory says Jeff Weaver?

3. Jose Mota
“Sideline” Guy:
1. Jose Mota
I thought for sure that the change to be made this off-season was to have the axe fall on Mota and Physioc. I believe a TV crew of Markus-Hudler/Gubicza and radio crew of Smith-Gubicza/Hudler were the winning combinations.
Poor move, imho.
Downing Rules - November 25, 2009

UK Halo - November 25, 2009
Agree.
Although the combination of Rory and Gubi has a certain chemistry. They can be a little silly sometimes.
BUT Terry and JOSE MOTA on the radio? Really? That can’t be a permanent pairing. Not gonna work.
LazorkoRules - November 25, 2009
a lot of great comments above
However, regardless of how one feels about the dismissal of Rex, keep in mind he is being replaced by Jose Mota. Jose Mota people! I’ve heard more exciting commentary during Vitamin Talk on AM 830. Atleast we have perfect pronounciation of latin american names to look forward to. I can understand the criticisms of Rex, I really can, but look what we ended up with instead. Mota is great at the sideline reporting (though for sheer comical value, it would have been interesting to have Rex translate for Vlad) but it seems that they could have found a better candidate for radio color than Mota. I do wish Phys and Hud the best of luck in future endeavors.

The great news keeps coming!
1st Scioscia gets Manager of the Year, then Hud and Phyz get let go. Sweet.
I couldnt stand either one of those guys – I always listened to the other teams crew when those guys were on.
I like the Rory/Gubi combo and am so glad that they are there FT now.

mota and my List!
I agree, do not see any chemistry with Mota and Smith. I really think, Arte will never let Mota go. Maybe, others wanted Mota out, but Arte vetoed it. Last year was a joke, had no clue who was announcing a game before turning on the TV.
As for Enberg, there is talk he may return to announce some games with the Padres. Here is my list since 1979, when I started following the Angels. I can have a list of the worst, but, that would be a very long list.
Best Angel Announcers
1. Enberg
2. Bob Starr
3. Steve Shannon
4. Terry Smith
5. AL Conin who’s real name was EL Conin
Color Analyst
1. The Late Ken Brett
2. Joe Torre
3. Ron Fairly
Ok I have to say Jerry Ruess, annoying voice, was glad he had the boot too!
Ca1IFORNIA ANGELS - November 25, 2009
Wow. That's a slender field.
Al Conin was a nice guy but had a bad voice for radio. Ron Fairly was weak. Vastly prefer Terry Smith over Bob Starr. Don’t remember Shannon’s style.
I remember when Jack Howell was moved from Left Field to 3B, Ron Fairly made the comment “Yeah, playing third base is a lot different than left field – the ball comes up on you a lot quicker.” What a genius.

Whooa Nelly
seems like the Angels have really never cared about having a quality announcers and there is a lot of turnover. One thought, will not happen, but I think 98 percent of Angel fans would love to have Enberg. But, why not go after Keith Jackson, whoooo Nelly.
Do not laugh, he announced baseball for many years and announced a couple World Series in the late 70’s I believe and 80’s. He lives in southern california. Would be cool to have him announce maybe home games?
Ca1IFORNIA ANGELS - November 25, 2009
I'd love to have Dick Enberg back
And a few years ago he expressed a willingness to do it. But I’m afraid he would be far too expensive.

Physioc is 54 years old?
I thought he was in his 30’s.
Must have gotten eternal youth when he sold his soul.

I hope that Angels brass pays attention to this site
I believe this site is a microcosm of true Angels fans everywhere and by looking at the poll, there needs to be a place for Rex Hudler.
Hell pay him a small salary and put him in front of the stadium under the helmits and make him the official greeter.
Dono Romantico - November 26, 2009
"King Salmon went upstream"
The LAT story said that Hudler frequently used this quote “after a Salmon play.”
Do the Times not have any editors in their sports section anymore? Did Diane give that quote based off what she thought she remembered from the one Angel game she watched on TV five years ago? Just awful. That pissed me off.

This may have been in the works for awhile
I could kind of see the writing on the wall once they brought in Markus & Gubicza to do TV. There was no way they were going to carry two TV broadcast teams over an extended period of time. Although it would’ve been nice to keep Hudler and have him do Angels Live with Billy Mac.

Phys being Phys
From a game in Baltimore this past season…
Phys: Hud, this has got to be the last batter this pitcher faces.
Hud: Uh, yeah it would be except they have nobody warming up in the bullpen.
It still makes me laugh.
njhalofan - November 26, 2009
Good one.
I noticed that when Phyz and Hud were paired together, there would often been friction. It was as if they knew that last year was a “try out” for both pairs, and they could sense that Gubi and Rory were doing better. If Phyz brought Hud down, and somehow caused his termination, that’s just another reason to dislike Phyz.

Rex Vs. Langston!!
All I have to say is Rex is a true professional… 1995 Division playoffs, Mark Langston chucked his glove in the dugout and started to have his little temper tantrum. Rex went over and told him to suck it up.. That is a true professional!! As far as getting rid of him from broadcasting I am not to happy about it.. Especially if we have to listen to boring ass Gubicza and his pathetic years as a player…
Phys, I could care less about… Pack your bags….

More on the subject
My wife says:
“Rex was the most colorful of color commentators! Heck, he was always warning the Little Leaguers not to slide into base head-first. None of the other guys are that tuned into who is really watching. I’m disappointed in Artie.

Steve and Hudler
Its bad enough that we have to deal with a government bent on making the worst possible decisions on a consistant basis, now I have to deal with you idiots.
FIRE HUD AND STEVE AND YOU LOSE ME AS A FAN! No big deal right? Well to tell you the truth, thats what basaeball has become, NO BIG DEAL.
Hud and Phys are the main reason I’m a fan. They made me feel like I was part of a team and I had a part in the victory. Well, I put up with trades that shouldnt have been made, unexplained calls to lose games seemingly intentionally, ridiculous name changes( the los angeles Angels Of Anaheim, what a joke!) etc. I know, I don’t understand, its a business. Bad business! As far as I’m concerned, you’re out of business!!! THANK GOD FOR NASCAR.
A FAN FOR OVER 30 YEARS, but ‘cest la vie’
P.S. You’re all democrats, right?

Troll.
rspencer - November 27, 2009
Read his bio. "Troll" is being gracious.
He moved to Vegas becasue the Arte added “of Los Angeles” to the formal team name. From there he sits, the sun baking his brain, calling the residents of the most Republican enclave in America “democrats”. And he does it as if that is some sort of insult. But that’s because he is up on politics, and he knows too much. Clearly, Glen Beck claims another victim.
Stirrups - November 27, 2009
Thank you.
Yeah, this guy’s as phony as a three-dollar bill. No fan abandons his team because of what they call themselves or who calls their games, and there is nothing even vaguely political about letting Phys and Rex go.
The fact that a guy like this stands out so obviously underlines how troll-free we are around here compared to every other blog I have seen.

O.K., I finally calmed down enough to write something
I have consistently defended Rex on this website…..I thought he was improving each year His positive energy was sorely needed this season, and his commentary had become more coherent and insightful. After listening to the horrific Yankee-centric commentary of McCarver, Buck and Joe Morgan, I wanted to hear Rex and his enthusiasm. It is genuine and he communicates it well. Who is going to do all the promo stuff he did, like host the fan rallies?
Does anyone think the Angels will bring him back in a different capacity?
How amazingly professional Hud was, that after he got canned, he still went to the promotional event the Angels had that night. And no bad mouthing the organization either. What a class act.
So my question is, who is the best person to complain to? Fox? Angels FO?
hbhalofan - November 27, 2009
Address your complaint to Tim Mead by mail
In my experience, he will listen and at least provide a thoughtful response. The man is pure class.

You will be missed Hud, good luck!
Phizz, don’t let the door hit you in the arse on the way out (take it off the skull instead.)
Rory is awesome, always has been, love his humor.
Wish it could be Rory & Hud.
Gubi really irritated me for awhile, but… I’ll take him over Phizz any day of the millennium.
Mota is positively the worst all time play by play guy ever (unless droning on in monotone is your thing). He should stay as on-field-interviewer, he’s good at that.
Terry is fine.
Hud, I’m going to really miss your enthusiasm and passion for the game.
You got to over-the-top in the last couple years, but your positive attitude and passion were worth it.
Phizz is so atrocious that moving him with Hud as the player to be named later is acceptable. Only Mota replacing Phizz would have been a step down, so thank goodness for small favors.
