Baseball Hall of Fame - 2010 Veterans Committee Announcement
Gene Autry owned the Angels from their birth in 1961 until his death in 1998. Autry, a television and movie star known for his rendition of Christmas classic "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," led his teams to American League West titles in 1979, 1982 and 1986.
Gene Autry is on the list of possible Hall of Fame inductees. Here's hoping the veteran's committee sees fit to honor the Angels' late owner.

1. Matt Holliday - Sure he was great in Colorado and St. Louis, but there is just too much down side for the price he will be asking. The Cardinals should have beat the Dodgers, and he is a big reason why they didn’t. The last thing we need is a playoff mental case.
I don't agree with this opinion, not that I think the Angels should sign Holliday, but not for the reason above. The Cardinals didn't lose to the Dodgers because of Holliday. Sure, he made a very costly error against the Dodgers in the NLDS, but I don't think Holliday's "a playoff mental case". What's not to like about a player with a career OPS of .933 at the right price?

Jason Marquis
The guy takes every team he’s been on to the playoffs. If we don’t re-sign Lackey, Marquis could be a good option as our No.5 starter for 2010. His ERA last year was 4.04- not great, but he would give the Angels a chance to win the game every time out. Come postseason, put Marquis in the bullpen. (Or not, Colorado did this and were swept this season).

Ther are lots of reasons to not sign Matt Holliday but citing his one error in the playoffs against the Dodgers being used as reason #1 is idiotic and lazy.

1. Figgins: I still think you could be right. He is seeking $12M to $13M but will actually only get $10M to $12M.

2. Marty Cordova winning the ROY over Garret Anderson was a bummer. However, Cordova had 24 jacks and 84 ribbies and a “whopping” 52BB’s in 569PA’s (9.1% bb/pa). By comparison, GA only had 16HR and 69RBI and only 19BB in 400PA’s (4.75% bb/pa)! Cordova’s other numbers were better and he probably appeared to be running not gliding when running the bases or chasing a fly ball! ;)

Rich Harden without question
Among that list he is one of the cheapest but with the highest upside.
Pineiro had a fluke year and he will suck in the AL and without Dave Duncan. We saw Brady Penny flounder in the AL last season. Edwin Jackson might cost a lot in a trade and his 5.03 ERA after the all-star break last season is not encouraging. And the rest are all mediocre innings eaters at best.
