I would have voted for Rick Porcello
With Bailey second and Reimold third.

Palmer was absolutely robbed.
But its hard to argue against Andrus.

Is Palmer considered a rookie?
red floyd - November 10, 2009
His first full season to be exact

I thought he had some number of innings with SF last year, and was over the ROY threshold.
red floyd - November 10, 2009
This is true
According to here a pitcher would need less than 45 innings or have been with the club for 45 days or longer before the waiver deadline.
According to B-R Palmer pitched only 12.2 innings with the Giants, so it seems reasonable that he would qualify for ROY honors but why he didn’t get a single vote amazes me.

Yessir.
I’m not saying he should have won, but to not get a single vote? WTF, mate?
Slasher52 - November 10, 2009
I agree
I wasn’t expecting him to make rookie of the year, but to not get a single vote?? An 11-2 record with 3.93 ERA. I mean Brett Anderson was 11-11 with a 4.06 ERA and he was 5th in the voting. I know there are a lot of other factors besides one’s record that goes into the voting… but ZERO VOTES??
As usual Angel players seem to go unnoticed. Like at All Star time it’s rare to see a lot of votes for any of our players. And even if a couple get put on the roster who knows if they’ll even get put into the game (ahem, Joe Maddon). I mean, it’s not like the Angels were a first place team and not given playing time representation during the All Star game (ahem ahem, Joe Maddon).

Everyone was against Matt palmer from the beginning and had formed a low opinion
of him from the start before he had the chance to prove himself. By then the other blogs had passed him off as some weird fluke they could not explain nor comprehend. I am not surprised he got excluded.
44FAN - November 10, 2009
Not just the other blogs. Some of our members don't like Palmer and think his record is a fluke.
opiejeanne - November 11, 2009
Well, his record was a fluke.
I’ll eat my hat if he wins 11 games again, but that doesn’t discount the great effort he put forth this year when no one expected much of anything. He should be a solid middle to long reliever for a few years.

Anti Pitching bias
1. Bailey
2. Bergersen
3. andrus ?
Bailey performed great and for only 14/29 to give him any vote, especially when he received the plurality of firsts, is disheartening. Andrus was much less distinguished.
Matt Palmer did a great job, but votes were only allowed three slots. Matt Wieters? did they vote preseason?

Classic

Seriously?
Matt Palmer was robbed?
baetown415 - November 11, 2009
Inasmuch as "he got completely ignored". NOT inasmuch as "he should have won".
Stirrups - November 11, 2009
I voted for Andrus
I honestly don’t remember the other two votes, I’m pretty sure Porcello was one of them.
As far as Palmer…I didn’t realize he was still eligible. A screw up on my part.
