Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Angels 4, Red Sox 1

TBS Announcer Don Orsillo can pretend that every routine play the Red Sox made on Friday in Anaheim was going to be a difference-maker, but the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim showed up to play baseball in front of their fans, not fantasy ball. And play ball they did, beating Josh Beckett in a revenge match for his April smackfest. Slapping Josh's fat little chipmunk cheeks was the bottom end of the Angels order, highlighted by an Erick Aybar triple that also made Jacoby Ellsbury crawl around on the warning track, momentarily disabled at the base of the Nick Adenhart memorial mural.
Aybar's masterful stroke came after a base hit by starting 2B Maicer Izturis broke a 1-1 tie and scored Howie Kendrick from 2nd base - the first stolen base of the series came with Kendrick pinch-running for Vladimir Guerrero. Beckett should have been taken out after walking - YES... unintentionally WALKING Vladdy. Is Terry Francona even watching these games? But how cool is it that after a season of platooning in the infield, Izzy drives in Howie. Wow.
In 14.2 ALDS innings, Angels starters have suffered 6 hits from the vaunted Boston offense. On cue, infamous turncoat Dennis Eckersley sings the praises of Lackey and Weaver LIVE form the TBS studios in Atlanta... with David Wells interrupting to change his sox and jump on the Halo bandwagon.

Clutch - October 10, 2009
Trolling is fun.
When trolls come here I think it’s hilarious. Interaction with the other fans is fun. It’s like ribbing your friend who likes the other team. I wasn’t vulgar. I wasn’t obscene. I gave a simple “We are gonna beat you” kind of statement and I get banned. That was totally weak.
Trolling is a stupid word for people who are taking blogging way too serious. I like rivalries. It’s part of the fun of liking a team. And besides I think it’s the first time I “trolled” a teams site. And with all the times I’ve seen Over the Monster over here talking smack, they were due a little ribbing.
But whatever. The P.C. Police are out in full force so I guess the internet is not as free as I thought.

"Enjoy your one win"
said last night’s Sox fans.
Angels season ticket holder since 04. I move to Seattle last month and its finally happening. Watching on TV….its still so satisfying. I just wish I could walk out into the parking lot after tonight’s game and hear what excuses the Nation is making now.
DCDavis - October 9, 2009
There were no excuses
Only Angel fans celebrating. The “fan” you speak of all bailed during the 7th inning.
Teixeira Who? - October 10, 2009
there were no excuses
they were silenced in their seats. They tried when youk got the double but they were silenced.
The parking lot was filled with Angels fans still using the Thundersticks and honking their car horns to LET’S GO ANGELS!!!!
It was so sweet.
It was LOUD AND PROUD. The last game I enjoyed this much was the 11-0 game agains Texas to clench. But this win was and still is SWEET.
One of the ushers told me that a BosDONE fan wanted the usher to make the Angels fan around them to stop using the thundersticks. They said it was too loud. And they don’t use those in boston. The usher told them they are not in Boston… HAHAHAHA. I was telling the usher we don’t want rally towels… we make noise – our team feeds off it and so we will use it.
I wonder if Boston will have “rally towels” or something that makes noise?
Go Angels let’s take this in 3.

During your early years the station showed re-runs like ``The Lucy Show``, ``Leave it to Beaver`` and ``The Andy Griffith Show``. Please return to your core business of showing tired old re-runs, as it is obvious that you suck at broadcasting baseball games.
XYZ123 - October 9, 2009

or, at the very least, hire some outside broadcasters. there’s no need to hire the hometown broadcasters for EITHER team in a series.
….douchebags.
howiestheman - October 9, 2009
I heard a pretty good idea
Why not hire announcers from both teams? If you’re going to hire a team’s announcers, make it balanced. It could lead to some great dialogue and much better information. It would never work with homers like Kay or Hawk Harrelson, but I could see Rory in there with Orsillo.
Gorbachav5 - October 9, 2009
or even
hire the home announcers for the home parks – Rory and Rex do the games at Angel stadium, the other team’s announcers do it at their stadiums. that could be fun.

Just got back from the game!
My ears are still ringing…holy crap it was LOUD. Loved it! The rally sticks are perfect to annoy Boston fans.
Aybar’s triple was soooooo great. But like last night, it’s too hard to choose a panther between Aybar and Weaver.
Great pitching, great defense, timely hitting. Let’s keep it rolling on into Boston!
sothball - October 9, 2009
Me too.
I was representing up in 507. THE PLACE WAS ROCKING!!!!
I was in front of a BoSox fan… She wasn’t a chowd — since early ’90s. Gave her a little respect, but then got on with the game.
red floyd - October 10, 2009
I had 2 BoSux fans behind me...
…they were OK. Their conversation early in the game had a built-in assumption that they were destined to win…“Weaver is barely getting over 90 (MPH) sooner or later we will catch up with him…Beckett is pitching his usual strong game…” and so on. Their conversation was not so confident later in the game.
My wife jokingly turned to them after Aybar’s triple for a high 5. One of ’em gave her a real nasty look. We laughed about it on the drive home.
sothball - October 10, 2009
was in the 500's too and I loved it.
Didn’t lose my voice cause the Thundersticks made enough noise. And it did annoy the boston fans. But that’s just too bad cause they aren’t in Boston. If they don’t like it they can go to boston and watch their team play.

Great game...
Last night’s Panther should have been Torii, but tonight WTY is the choice. Last night we needed the big hit (oh, sweet relief!), and tonight we needed a stopper.
The dude sitting next to me was giving it to Ortiz (Papi could hear him for sure) with both barrels. Weight, skills, ’roids, everything. The row in front of us had 6 Sox fans, and not only did they not get even slightly upset, they laughed at some of it.
Very cool of them.
LittleCupcakes - October 9, 2009
Weaver is the Panther.
TWO HITS and NO HOMERS. PLUS seven K’s.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - October 9, 2009
Very impressive
by Weaver. His velocity was especially encouraging. His heater seemed like it had a couple extra ticks on it throughout the night. More 90+ readings than maybe we saw at points during the season.
rdf8585 - October 9, 2009
I should add
That kind of performance is “Dream Weaver” worthy.
rdf8585 - October 9, 2009
I believe he can get me through the night
Gorbachav5 - October 9, 2009
TBS's gun
is definitely ratcheted up a couple notches at least. The stadium gun seemed accurate. He was sitting 88 – 90, but good movement and great location. He did touch 92 a couple times, but he wasn’t throwing harder than he usually does.
Gorbachav5 - October 9, 2009
I noticed that too
Lackey was sitting on 93-94 most of the game Thursday. They obviously have the ESPN gun over there.

SenorChuckles - October 9, 2009
Yeah I didn't like Beckett bitching
What a tool…
JoseGuillenSux - October 10, 2009
What'd he do?
Honestly, from 506 it was hard to even see that Naps got hit instead of just ball four—but yeah it’s typical Beckett bullshit, no? And what exactly did Beckett do in reaction to Naps non-reaction?
Clutch - October 10, 2009
He was yelling at someone
he thought that Naps tried to get in the way of the ball
JoseGuillenSux - October 10, 2009
Hells Yeah
2-0 and loving it. STill one more though so deal not done yet. Enjoying the moment for sure though. Lackey and Weave = Studs.
On a side note (I haven’t been on the game threads much this year while watching games so this may have been discussed at length already (or not) – if so, my apologies)……..is it just me or has Juan Rivera gotten more and more GAish as the season has gone on? I know there was the pop fly in Boston at the end of Sept, but even these last 2 games it seems like he hasn’t run hard down the line when he could have put more pressure on the throw. Like today on the hard grounder to Lowell…it just looked like he was jogging when he could have maybe forced an errant throw (see game 1) after the ball hit Lowell on the hand.
gorams77 - October 9, 2009
On that triple by Aybar
Did any of you guys catch when Ellsbury stumbled right in front of the Adenhart wall picture. That was pretty eerie to me but awesome at the same time.
TheAntiSox - October 9, 2009
He saw his season slipping away . . .
Big Bad, 'Vlad'! - October 9, 2009
Kazmir hits Papi Sunday.
Payback.
SonomaCoHalofan - October 9, 2009
Why hit Papi? Hes a strikeout machine!
A win in Boston would be enough payback :)
SenorChuckles - October 9, 2009
True, logical
But I believe the Red Sox think the Angels can be intimidated, and I don’t like how they keep hitting our guys with apparent impunity. The code must be respected.
SonomaCoHalofan - October 9, 2009
If they do think that then they are fucked...
2-0 in the series and if they think we can be intimidated they are done. I think they should try to win in the most classiest way (no retaliation in any way shape or form) and save the dirty stuff for NY.
SenorChuckles - October 9, 2009
Oh get off it
Beckett didn’t hit him on purpose, it was a freakin curve ball. And Ramirez didn’t hit Torii on purpose the night before. These are the playoffs. Both teams want to win. Putting runners on base over some bullshit “code” is that stupidest fucking thing any pitcher on either side can do. Just win.
dmhead - October 10, 2009
well said
Rev Halofan - October 10, 2009
Papi has done nothing
no reason to hit any of them. We don’t have to play that way to win – and that is obvious.
angelsfan777 - October 10, 2009
OT-ish
Because the halo willnot be “lit” for the playoffs, what do you guys think of having lasers going off in all directions?
Figgi4life - October 9, 2009
Going off of the big A that is
Figgi4life - October 9, 2009
Safety reasons due to the freeway?
SenorChuckles - October 10, 2009
Not really
Just straight off in the side
Figgi4life - October 10, 2009 via mobile
Communisum?
SenorChuckles - October 10, 2009
Meant just lasers
Straight off the sides of the halo.
Figgi4life - October 10, 2009 via mobile
So thats a no on Communisum?
SenorChuckles - October 10, 2009
I almost sprayed coffee out of my nose.
That was funny.
WiHaloFan - October 10, 2009
But where will they keep the frickin' sharks?
red floyd - October 10, 2009
On the heads of sharks?
eyespy - October 10, 2009
And again!
WiHaloFan - October 10, 2009
eyespy - October 10, 2009
I stole for personal use!
ladybug - October 10, 2009
I was at this game...
Fuck you Bosux. Enough said. Angels up 2 games to none, deal with it!!!
halofolife - October 10, 2009
Weaver and Aybar...
and to think they were talked about in Roy Halladay trade rumors. I am ashamed of myself :(
SenorChuckles - October 10, 2009
I was there tonight, pretty damn electric atmosphere.
I’ve got tickets for game five, I’m hoping to get my money back for them.
bc56274 - October 10, 2009
Finally home after an amazing game 2
Stuck in chowderville (sect 306) but was well worth it to see them bitch and complain in the late innings. Add on the reminders that Big Vladdy walked(!), clutch steal by HK and of course 7.1 IP from Brother Jered and… I WANT MORE!
Let’s fuckin do this thing right Sunday morning!
blast21dave - October 10, 2009
Was anyone sitting in 529 tonight?
That section was so loud and so rowdy we had driven out just about every Chowd by the 7th inning. It was beautiful. Mind you, this was the same section that gave Beckett the finger after he was pulled.
The cheap seats bring out the best in fans.
Teixeira Who? - October 10, 2009
Ptchers Did Their Job!
Comparing this season with the previous ones which were quite disappointing is that Angels pitchers held the other team down. In season’s past, it was the other way around with Boston holding down our hitters. Now, hopefully, we can end this on Saturday. We need to! Last thing we need is to give Boston the hope that they can come back! Go Angels! Finish the job!
JimmyBlue - October 10, 2009
I don't think I've ever seen the Big A rock like that since 2002...
And never in person. It was awesome. I’m still hoarse, this morning.
red floyd - October 10, 2009
All I want to hear on Sunday
are the cheers from Angels fans that went there. It’s time to SILENCE Fenway Park and send them to their houses for the winter.
Was at the game last night too and it was fun to annoy with our noise the few soxs fans that there were. No need to say anything to them, the team said it all for us.
angelsfan777 - October 10, 2009
Weaver for Panther......
but Aybar totally redeemed himself in my eyes for last years failure with that HUGE HUGE HUGE Triple……
Weaver for Panther……
Aybar for Gansta
And Izzy being clutch……..is just another day at the ole ball park!
