Even better, the second time they tried it nobody died.
Downing will always be my favorite Angel. When Hunter hit the bomb last night, my family was already asleep, so the first creature I congratulated was my cat, named Brian Downing Kaat.
…but I seem to recall Downing opening the 1986 season with a home run to left field against Seattle, and me thinking it was going to be a good year. It ended all wrong, but we’ll get our revenge in 2009 against the stinking clam chowders.
Glas to have seen him at the Angel Hall-of-Fame ceremony
Still my favorite of all time.

I loved when Dan Ford (fully closed stance) was followed by Downing (fully open).
