Joe Saunders Wins Sweet 16, Mike Scioscia Wins 900th

Final Score in Oakland: Angels 5, Athletics 3

Mike Scioscia managed his 900th regular season victory, pitcher Joe Saunders won the 1st game of the Angels 2009 season and he won the 162nd and final regular season contest Sunday afternoon, but all fans are really wondering is whether or not he can win next Monday on the 23rd anniversary of the "Donnie Moore" Game, against the Halo's postseason nemesis Boston Red Sox.

Perhaps more important than Saunders 2 ER and 6 Hits surrendered in 5 smooth innings was Ervin Santana appearing out of the bullpen to toss 2 innings of 3 hit, no-run ball, striking out 3 in the process. Darren Oliver got his 20th Hold of the seasons and Kevin Jepsen had a sky 9th for his first Save of the year.

Mike Napoli hit his 20th homerun of the season, a solo shot, while Bobby Abreu and Kendry Morales padded their 100+ RBI totals for the season Torii Hunter doubled in his 90th Ribby in a 3-run 5th inning. The Angels finish with 97 wins on the year, their 3rd best total in franchise history. They won 100 games last season and 99 games in their championship 2002 year.

Saunders

I’m real happy with how our starters pitched this week

And I'm really happy with how crappy Boston played this week.

May it run through next week as well!

another good regular season on Halos Heaven

looking forward to this season continuing through early November

Not only thr 3rd highest win total in team history (all under Scioscia)...

…but 2nd highest # of wins in MLB this season, and we won the division by 10 games. This in a division that was much better than last year. 10 GAMES!!!

Saunders??

Did you guys see the same game I did? He lucked out from good defense repeatedly from the likes of GMJ and Torii, and seemingly every ball hit was tagged somewhere in the incredibly spacious Oakland park. He had 6 hits, but should’ve given up more, and 2 walks on top of that from sloppy pitches that were nowhere close.

I’d give it to Naps because a) he homered quite throughly, b) scored a run THREE times, and c) played marvelous defense behind the plate — a definite sigh of relief given his pine-riding two weeks ago was due to a lack of just that.

Congrats to the Soth for winning an average of 90 games a season for 10 years.

There will always be decisions made that don’t pan out. There will always be times when a call that has pros for both sides will be questioned. But I’ve never been happier Arte Moreno locked up Scioscia, because the odds we’ll EVER get anyone better than Soth are long indeed.

OT: How do you post pictures in fanposts?
Look to the right of the textbox for the body of your fanpost.

You should see a blue menu labeled ‘Inserts’. The first category under that will be ‘Media and Assets’ and under that category will be a picture frame-looking green and brown button. Click that button, input the URL of the photo, click import, and presto, instant photos in your article. :)

The Mighty Q

had a pretty solid day today as well. Should be mentioned for game panther.

I can't believe it

I went the entire season without messing up the pregame pick once until the last game. I never forgot to comment after making my pick until game 162. Wow.

well guys

the real season begins…. LETS GO HALOS!
