Final Score in Oakland: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 4, Oakland Athletics 2
Pitcher Scott Kazmir looked sharp in his short outing Saturday afternoon. He allowed 3 hits and a walk in 5 IP, striking out 3. Of his 76 pitches, 53 were strikes and he looked ready for his next start a week from tomorrow in Fenway Park. Matt Palmer was impressive in 2 innings of relief, striking out 3 with only 28 pitches thrown.
Angels benchwarmers drove in all four runs, with a Gary Matthews RBI double in the 4th inning complementing Robb Quinlan's run-scoring single in the 2nd and a double in the 4th that scored Matthews. Brian Fuentes pitched a scoreless 9th for his 48th Save of the season, 2nd all time for an Angel pitcher single season mark to Francisco Rodriguez last season. Fuentes leads the majors in Saves.

GMJ is now our 11th man
with 50 RBIs.
Someone care to find out when the last time a team did THAT?
Caseys Kiss of Death - October 3, 2009
his first year with us he had like 73
Angels_48 - October 3, 2009
What the heck does that have to do with my post?
Caseys Kiss of Death - October 3, 2009
I'm pretty sure it's never happened before in ML history
They had the ’30 Cardinals and the ’07 Tigers with 10 each, but neither had 11.

I saw the fanpost here earlier where someone pointed out the 10 players
so I figured it had to be pretty rare. But to be the first to ever do it? Damn, this has been one hell of an offensive year for us.

Bullpen
Nice to see Fuentes starting to sharpen up. Let’s hope Jepsen and Bulger are getting it out of their system.

That's why we've been cleaning out our closets.

What's with Bulger?
Missed the game, but heard on the post-game that he was pulled with shoulder stiffness? Is he even gonna make the postseason roster?
red floyd - October 3, 2009
Uh-oh
Clutch - October 3, 2009
And for some reason, the Halo remains unlit tonight.

delayed
like the game
Rev Halofan - October 3, 2009
Do you know why they delayed the game?
Was there some other sport that was deemed more important to show in that time slot, like say, curling?
opiejeanne - October 3, 2009
The Halo has no guts... (electronics, that is)
All the electronics are removed at present. It didn’t light during the Texas series either. My 5-year-old was bummed looking for it to “twinkle” after the division clincher, but no go.
Downing Rules - October 4, 2009
I believe that Terry said it would be ready for the playoffs
This was on the 9/30 Angel talk, after the 1-hitter.
red floyd - October 4, 2009
Resign Q!
Go Angels!
Showing GMJ some respect, resting/saving him by bringing in Willits to take his place. I like it. I expect a big hit out of GMJ against boston. Kaz looking good and ready to shut ’em down.
