Is there a disturbance in the force, Sith-Rod?
The NY POST is reporting that ALCS Game 6 has been RAINED OUT and is postponed. The game will be played SUNDAY, first pitch at 5:20 PM Pacific Time. Game 7 is scheduled for Monday at 4:57 PM our time.
From all reports, the Yankees will stick with Andy Pettitte to start Game 6 as scheduled. The Angels have given no indication that it will be anyone but Joe Saunders starting Game 6. The possibility of bringing John Lackey back to start Game 7 on three days rest to face CC Sabathia will be the subject of much consideration should the Angels be victorious on Sunday.
If you are hanging out online tonight, Giguere says he is 100%, go visit ANAHEIM CALLING, the new SBN Ducks Blog!

What are we rooting for here? Rain or no rain?
bc56274 - October 24, 2009
I'm rooting for rain
Cupie and I are going to the Echo & the Bunnymen show tonight (they’re performing “Ocean Rain” in its entirety, with orchestra. yes, i know you don’t care), and we don’t want to get text updates!
yeswecan - October 24, 2009
You are choosing Echo and the Bunnymen over the ALCS game six?
Consider your mancard revoked.
bc56274 - October 24, 2009
more rare event than a game 6
One of my fave albums ever, with the orchestration it deserves. Might not ever happen again, whereas the Angels will be here again.
yeswecan - October 24, 2009
Thats a bold statement.
ryanfea - October 24, 2009
Hopefully it isn't....
But this COULD be the time you ever watch Vladdie and Figgins play for the Angels. I hope for your sake for rain to go with your Rain.
AlanFalcon - October 24, 2009
show is at Nokia Theater
If the game is on, then I’ll watch as much as possible from the sports bar in Staples Center across the street.
yeswecan - October 24, 2009
one of my faves too!

And now your hurricanes have brought down this ocean rain.
Get it? Get it?
Red114 - October 24, 2009
it worked! well done.
yeswecan - October 24, 2009
mlb will want the game played in rain because it slows the Angels running game down
it is supposed to sunny on Sunday, let’s hope for rain of the cats and dogs sleeping together variety and for a sunny Sunday for the Halos.
tanana40 - October 24, 2009
The halos are undefeated on NFL Sunday!
:)
SenorChuckles - October 24, 2009
I'll take that.
angelsfan777 - October 24, 2009
it’s supposed to be sunny on Sunday and partly cloudy on Monday.
angelsfan777 - October 24, 2009
rooting for rain
Let’s get Lackey for a GM 7
RedAces - October 24, 2009
So is C.C. going to pitch if it indeed gets rained out?
SenorChuckles - October 24, 2009
no i believe Girardi sd that he will pitch Petite when ever GM 6 is played
RedAces - October 24, 2009 via mobile
That is dumb
CC vs. Saunders would be a big mismatch in the Yankees favor. Go for the jugular.
if game 6 is rained out, it’s CC vs. Lackey in 7..close to a push.
Girardi is a dumb man.
ChrisSimmsSpleen - October 24, 2009
they would rather give Andy a shot at it
I guess it kinda makes sense. What if CC lost GM 6 would you want Andy pitching GM 7 vs Lackey.
I guess it might be better having your Ace pitch GM 7 if needed
RedAces - October 24, 2009
now wait just a second here
Does that say “Yankees win series 3-2”? I don’t believe it’s won until it’s well, WON.
Heading down now… Stomach in knots already. GO ANGELS!
cath619 - October 24, 2009 via mobile
fixed it
is it going to get rained out?
Rev Halofan - October 24, 2009
dunno yet
Weather’s been crap all day and supposed to get worse with thunderstorms. Not cold though, which is nice.

hey, it says 'win' again!
cath619 - October 24, 2009 via mobile
Not fixed yet....
figgiesdaman - October 24, 2009
Why not root for rain?
Weaver and Lackey or Saunders and Weaver…it’s no contest.
ChrisSimmsSpleen - October 24, 2009
You think they would skip over Joe Saunders?
bc56274 - October 24, 2009
I don't think they would
If we can get Lackey to pitch in game 7, I think Weaver is a better emergency relief pitcher than Saunders would be and Saunders had a pretty good start in game 2 so I think the best case scenario is Lackey and Saunders
ryanfea - October 24, 2009
I agree, Saunders is used to that cold weather being a Hokie. Weaver, not so much.
bc56274 - October 24, 2009
it's not that cold.
65 now, weather.com says 63 at 11pm. Reminds me of winter back home, sigh…
cath619 - October 24, 2009 via mobile
Sosh doent like Weaver in NY
There is no way Weaver is getting a start out there. You have a better chance of seeing Santana. And I would love to see him as his the ownage on NY.

are you thinking game 7?
Cause the yankees are probably going to throw in CC tomorrow as he’ll have had 4 days rest.

F--k
Play the damn game, guys. What is this, some ruse to start CC tomorrow or so that Jeter can get over his flu?
Clutch - October 24, 2009
I don't think they'll start CC tomorrow
They’ll probably hold him back in case of a decisive game. They would also rather not use him at all so he could start Game 1 of the World Series.
Suboptimal - October 24, 2009
Yeah, sounds true enough
Hopefully we can force game 7 and f—k up their WS rotation at the very least!
Clutch - October 24, 2009
Or maybe this will mean if there is a Game 7 it will mean no CC...?
Clutch - October 24, 2009
They should just bring the series back west to a neutral site...
like Dodger Stadium
buaha
Vlad Dracul - October 24, 2009
how come MLB didn't have a contingency plan that coveres weather?
they are forcing games to be played later in the year, when they know full well that weather is going to start to become very dicey. I’m getting really tired of MLB giving Fox the ALCS contract, and not standing up to the NFL when it comes to game scheduling.
HalosFanInNorCal - October 24, 2009
$$$$
Thanks to the WBC, as well.
We might still be here til thanksgivin!
Vlad Dracul - October 24, 2009

oops, Phillies
HalosFanInNorCal - October 24, 2009
nothing wrong with the Pack playing on turkey day.
SenorChuckles - October 25, 2009

HalosFanInNorCal - October 25, 2009
That would be a very meaningful Thanksgiving in this house.
opiejeanne - October 25, 2009
in my family's house as well
My mom raised her kids to be California Angels fans. We grew up with Boon, DiSarcina, Downing, Witt, Boone, and the rest of the late ’80’s Angels lineup. Hell, one of my sisters even memorized the lineup because she had a crush on Brian Downing!
HalosFanInNorCal - October 25, 2009
The cash-strapped Yankees couldn’t be hassled to put a roof on their shiny new stadium. They’re not as flush with funding as the Seattle Mariners.
Of course it doesn’t actually rain as much in New York during the baseball season as it does in Seattle. Oh wait, never mind.
Suboptimal - October 24, 2009
not to mention the close to $1 billion in public funds that helped to subsidize the Yannks new castle
never mind that the seats are so expensive that they can’t fill the stadium, even during a hard fought ALCS because ticket prices are too high.
HalosFanInNorCal - October 24, 2009
We're not playing and my stomach is in knots.
angelsfan777 - October 24, 2009
What's the weather situation for tomorrow? Are they going to play for sure?

HalosFanInNorCal - October 24, 2009
It's been raining all day
Game 2 it started raining after it started.
At least the forecast is for nice weather on Sunday and Monday.
angelsfan777 - October 24, 2009
hmm, I seem to remember it raining during game 1 too (maybe it was just the stupid crap that they were wearing to cover their ears that made me think so)
HalosFanInNorCal - October 24, 2009
I think it was just cold - maybe it had rained during the day but it stopped.
angelsfan777 - October 24, 2009
maybe, but I am pretty sure that the field was a slip-n-slide both games..
or maybe that was mostly game 2?
HalosFanInNorCal - October 24, 2009
because it wasnt pouring
It’s dumping now and only supposed to get worse. Plus thunder.

SenorChuckles - October 25, 2009
This could be better for us...
Give the guys an extra day to rest up practice that patience, get ‘em good and charged to get this to Game 7 so it at least f—ks with the Skanks’ WS rotation, and possibly not even have to face CC if it gets to Game 7 and the Skanks are overconfident and want to rest him for a Game 1 that they won’t play?
NOW LET’S GO WIN!
Clutch - October 24, 2009

OMG
I just got home. (11:40) Here’s my long story:
I arrived at Yankees Stadium with the help of a few Mets Fans only to find a large group of people on the other side of the platform. I thought to myself, "Wow, maybe the weather is pretty bad. As soon as I step of the train, police officers are telling us the game has been canceled. I didn’t believe it because the weather didn’t seem bad at all. I go up the stairs and a downpour descends upon me. I called and rescheduled with Cath for tomorrow. I ran back inside the subway and sat quietly in the corner as I waited for the subway to take me back to Penn Station.
As I waited for the train, I felt lonely in a sea of Yankees fans. Out of nowhere a nice couple dressed in Angels Paraphernalia joined me and suddenly life was not bad. The couple came from Perris, CA. They have been season ticket holders and followed the Angels EVERYWHERE. They were at Game 3 of the ALDS and most of the regular season games that were at New York and Boston. We talked about most of the season and the ramifications of the rain out. He said he would be in section 420 so I hope to see him there. He said he didn’t really like blogs, but he might be interviewed by someone from OC Register. It made my day.
As soon as I arrived to Penn Station, I again was surrounded in a sea of Yankees fans from New Jersey. My train said departure time was 7:45 and I waited patiently in the lobby while getting some mean looks. 7:45 rolled around and no train. 8:15 no train. 8:45 no train. I looked at the screen and saw that all the trains were delayed or canceled. I was pretty pissed and started to walk towards the food strip near the subway when I found one of my Princeton friends. We both waited and entertained each other until the train arrived at around 10. The trip to Princeton lasted a good hour and half, but with my friend at my side it was ok.
I am finally back in my dorm room and I will now sleep. I can’t wait for tomorrow
princeton11loveshalos - October 24, 2009
damn dude ... cheers to you

AlanFalcon - October 24, 2009
good luck sleeping
I’m not quite home yet. Ended up going to a friend’s bday party at some swanky lounge, dressed like a baseball fan ready to brave the elements.
For whatever reason, they didn’t kick me out, and I ended up spending a ridiculous amount of money on two drinks and some meh food. But my friend was real happy I showed up (even though she knew she was my fallback).
Can’t wait til tomorrow. :)
