Scioscia Dodges Bullet, Angels Live to Fight On!

Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Angels 7 Yankees 6

The Yankees were 8 outs away from the World Series but the Rally Monkey performed an enema that no spitball or conspiratorial umpiring would undo under the Los Angeles Thunderstick Tsunami of Anaheim.

The game featured easily the worst on-field managerial decision of Mike Scioscia's career: he pulled John Lackey in the 7th inning with 2 on and 2 out in a 4-0 game to bring in reliever Darren Oliver, whose first pitch cleared the bases. Shades of Gene Mauch '86... With a looming infamy staring him straight in the face, the Yankees scored four more times in the inning as Kevin Jepsen got out of trouble after allowing his inherited runners to score.

But instead of Scioscia facing a true fan firing squad for the first time in his Angel career, the Donnie Moore game again replayed itself as  a 7-6 victory for the team down 3 games to 1.... YES... With 9 outs between them and the American League pennant, the New York Yankees bullpen (stroked Linda Lovelace style by mainstream baseball analysts as a dominant strength of the AL East champs) shriveled small-sack-style and coughed up three runs in the bottom of the same "magical" inning. Kendry Morales drove in the go-ahead run after the Angels big bats (Abreu, Hunter, Guerrero) had finally done their job to the satisfaction that they might get mentioned in between the non-stop media fawning over the Yankee lineup that was held in check by a Lackey who raged at his skipper on the mound, rage RAGE against the dying of the light, and they did not go gentle onto that good night!

And one funny note: the stereotype of SoCal fans as mellow was washed when Tim McCarver and Joe Buck's driveling analysis was regularly downed out by the loud Anaheim crowd.

NO MORE FUENTES!!!
We won.
We nearly died of heart failure
It's good for you.
I remember that happening me frequently with his predecessor
And HIS predecessor, too. Before there was K-Rod there was Percy to scare us to death.
And Lee Smith before him!

Actually I think Lee was pretty amazing even in his waning years.

I don't remember Lee, but I don't remember what I had for breakfast.
Froot Loops.

I have it on good authority.

LOL! Don't think so.
Fruit Loops Studio

got beats?

At least Frankie didn't look like he was going to shit himself

when he was about to shit himself

good point

although Fuentes’ nervousness might make pinheads like Swisher more confident…

That's kind of funny.

And really strange. It’s usually the Yankees and Boston fans who are drunk in large numbers.

Fuentes is not a closer

He should be relegated to the regular bullpen, and the Angels need to find somebody else.

In game six of the ALCS?!

I know, I know, I feel the same way as everyone — but THIS IS NOT THE TIME!

but we can't wait for next year

I hear what your saying but we might have a better closer inhouse like Santana.

Man. Lackey has an awesome voice
no Mathis for Panther?
+1 Mathis en fuego
Plus blocking everything in sight behind the plate
Mathis = Scioscia
he's mini-Sosh.

For now. Must eat more lasagna.

I gave him a vote.

Don’t know if he deserved it tonight over some of the other guys, but he deserved more than 0 votes and it was a total team effort.

Mathis should get a panther option
Mathis gets the call in my book.
This

He’s been clutch as anyone can be… Surprising to see no love for the math.

I love Math.

Even if Lackey can only Add and Subract.

Now ...

when does Seinfeld begin?

Reload that gun and keep firing it

Pizz poor job of managing a game in my personal opinion. Noway in hell you take out your horse up by 4 runs. Leave him in the game worst case is he gives it up and its tied but he deserved to be on the bump there

I'm exhausted

that was an emotional roller coaster of a game

but YEAH BABY! LIGHT UP THE HALO!!!

I was a young man at the start of the 9th inning

and I feel like I qualify for Medicare now that it ended

Time to paint the field

with the W.S. logo for the game next Wednesday. :)
vr, Xei

Do you see great things in our future?
If my heart can survive 2 more games like this...

…I am going to donate it to medical research.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is right.

My sister was at the game and she kept texting that to me all night long, and nothing else.

i think vlad should be an option instead of hunter
AGREE!

and for all those that wanted him to be on the bench……bah!

Fuck yeah!

Vlad is my boy!

Great win!

Very happy with the heart they showed.

Rivera is so freaking good it is ridiculous.

For a moment I thought you were talking about Juan.

I agree about Mariano and the rest of your statement.

I'm going mental! What a game!

pics allowed post game?

obviously
vr, Fig

I laugh at your vr, Fig

every. single. time.

Lackey for Panther. Not his fault he got screwed then taken out.
Yeah, but he let it get into his head, and then started to melt down.

I was surprised Soth pulled him when he did, though, it seemed like he’d settled back down.

Guess he wanted to turn UHaul around.

He got a bum call then, melted like Ice!

Lackey was terrific for like 6 innings then, he gets a bad call in the 7th and instead of concentrating on getting the next guy out, he throws his tantrums again and ends up loading the bases! He is a good pitcher but, a mental midget nonetheless! That is probably why Scioscia pulled him out. Good pitchers do what they are supposed to do which is just pitch!
Officiating is part of the game but, they probably should allow instant replay like in the NFL for atleast, the controversial calls and give the umpires the opportunity to reverse the calls if wrong.
Limit it to 3 challenges like in the NFL and you do not slow up the game.

Torii's shadow boxing with the camera!
I BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YYYYEEEESSSS WWWWEEEE WWWIIIILLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE WON!

Me hungry FOR WINS!!!!!
Good Job John

Wow......give one of those chins to Jorge John
Slim Fast, John.. its not as bad tasting as you think
Actually, after a while

it actually tastes like chocolate. I’ve totally gotten used to it.

TAKE IT TO DA BRONX!!!!

bad move by scioscia. its a W though!

which move?
taking out lackey in the 7th.
Putting in Weaver on his throw day was genius.
Ya

I guess 2 IPs was too much to ask.
vr, Xei

I would have liked to see him pitch 2 innings too

but maybe he had only 1 in him.

It's his throw day...

So this leaves him fresh for potential game seven, presumably.

hes gotta pitch game seven!

you cant extend him too much.

G7 is Santana...

I agree with Terry Smith.

yep, Sosh

went Tony LaRussa on us twice but thankfully the team prevailed

Waterfall fan

Did someone really jump in the waterfall?
vr, Xei

Yep.

And Fox showed it.

Hillarious

Did he jump down off of one of the rocks?
vr, Xei

He took a bath.

Then took a bow.

Wonder how much money

he will owe in fines to the City de Anaheim.
vr, Xei

i think he fell backwards into the water
You know that during a regular season game they NEVER EVER show these idiots who run onto the field.

But Fox did. Wanted to embarass us.

The lushes were out in full force behind the left field pavilion...

I cannot recall seeing such a collection of drunk Angel fans EVER. IT was NUTS out there.

That's ... kind of funny.

It was usually the Yankees and Boston fans who were drunk in large numbers

no field involved
I don't think that makes a difference.

…. did they delay the game at all for that performance? Or did they just not bother to show us the game?

no i know but I just want to know if he gets in just as much trouble...

in texas you can run out in the batters eye to get a hr ball…not a fountain ;), but still

I don't know.

yeah, I’ve seen the thing in Texas but I don’t think this counts as the same thing. I laughed when he fell or jumped into the deep part.; I had no idea there was anything that deep in the fountain.

i know...lol

I’m pretty sure he slipped in

Looked like a baptism to me.

Arms raised to the heavens..yeah, he was praising the beer gods.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but that part cracked me up.
Aww post game over so soon?

How long was Tuesdays postgame show?

Fox interview of Lackey Fail

They interviewed him but the camera was pointing somewhere else.
vr, Xei

on figgins for some reason
hey dude...

why do you sign everything “vr, Xei” — it seems sorta impersonal in a way. just wonderin’

Lackey PANTHER

This should be a post season VICTORY to big john.

My only concern (besides the liability at manager, a constant that this TEAM will fight):

Oliver and Jepsen.. wtf guys? Skanks advanced scouts got you pegged???

Positive: weaver looked ACE, he deserves to be in the game 7 slot (this shit is going all 7), for the angels and nick, i can’t think of a better position for weav.

Too stressful, and this SHOULDNT have been stressful. BASEBALL FOR THE WEEKEND WHOOOHOOOOOOOOOO

When we get this to game 7,

Weaver will be pitching for all the cookies in the jar. And win it for N.A.

what was up with the guy on the rocks? I laughed my ass off

Batting Champ Mathis deserves credit for this game too

As an aside, since we're headed to NYC

Have you heard about the Steve Phillips (former GM of Mets, ESPN broadcaster) affair? He sure didn’t pick a hottie. Woof.

http://deadspin.com/5387556/new-york-post-continues-full-court-steve-phillips-press

Its on the news here tonight.
It's on our sidebar already since yesterday.
Hence not making a fanpost.

Holy cow, that can’t possibly be her.
vr, Xei

i think that one could be

sans vr ;)

It's a man, baby.
dude, that is classic!
Our sweet OPJ drops an F-bomb?

I so seldom use it in real life but must have typed it a thousand times here ever since we started playing the Roid Sox & Yankees and sometimes feel a little bad later thinking that I might have offended some of the ladies here with my language.
.

this was in response to another thread

how it wound up here I’ll never know

Sweet? Who you callin' sweet?
good lord...

its sloth from the goonies

He's a .500 + hitter right now.
Jeez, one dos equis and I am already doing FAIL replies.
She dines on Puppy Chow.
No matter what now

There will be no Yankees taking cream pies to the face in our house!

But there was a lot of HAIR PIE at the game...

O MAN WHAT A GAME! The angels are still alive just like we thought they would be!

Game on Saturday, we’re probably gonaa have another close one but i have no lack of confidence in the angels pulling out another W and forcing a game 7!

LETS GO HALOS!

I really need to sleep

But I’m shaking still… Anyone else feeling this??

like I had four cups of coffee in the last hour or something…

my heart is slowly getting back to normalicy.
I won't be able to sleep for a while...
HELL YES, cath!
ok.

glad it is not just me.

I was THERE at the game and I had a hard time driving home...

WIPED OUT … (no, I didn’t drink). I yelled so dang loudly. I have no voice.

You represented US!!! You did a great job, too.
One Angel fan next to me had to resort to standing above the left field pavilion...

because his wife wanted to get completely hammered AND my voice was blowing his ear drums out. It was funny as hell.

Heh. Wish we'd been there, but the mr is pretty much out of vacation time.

He’s cashed out almost all of it in anticipation of retirement on December 17.

I just told the boss "I'm outta here at 2PM"

and off I went. I might make up the time Saturday, but I can’t think about the office right now.

He could have done that and not used any vacation time. His job is like that.

The only problem was that he had to meet with some construction people this afternoon, no postponement.

Yes, you did a fantastic job!

I should call my sister and see if she’s capable of saying anything more than “aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh” yet.

Vladdy came up big tonight with that basehit in the Bottom of the 7th.
How are we going to live through another year of Fuentes?

wish i could say jepsen will take over, but he has been just as bad

he's still young people...

but true if DO isnt back next year… fuentes needs to become the lefty specialist… shields, jepsen, bulger, maybe a renewed dondo can fight out for closer @ ST

Meds..lots of meds.
Meteors?
Comet's.

Comet’s will do the trick. They are almost a proven fact to that, but figgifigs pic might just disprove that.

So it will be Saunders for game 6?

And Weaver for game 7?
Or Lackey on very short rest?
Or Santana?

game 7 – Weaver vs CC
game 6 – Saudno vs. Petite

i thinki

Everyone available both games I presume.

Lackey still has a couple hundred pitches in him this week.

i would love to see lackey back up there, but in the event of a game 7, we very well could see both lackey and weaver pitch ala the way schilling and randy johson pitched for the D-backs

Shit would be sick!

praying we get to game 7 first, hopefully CC will be stuffing his face on creampies that night b4

We should take up donations.
Terry Smith (his gut feeling) thought Ervin Santana would be G7 starter...

one game at a time, though. LET’S WIN GAME SIX FIRST!!!!

I also heard Tery say

that if Sat is Rained out and GM 6 is pushed for Sun and GM 7 for Monday then we might just see Lackey start on GM 7 if it is on Monday

Viva la raza.

Brian Fuentes — another cornfed scruffdog from the San Joaquin — pulls my lungs through my esophagus and sez: peace, white boy.

I want to vote for Dream Weaver!

Please add him?

weaver the reliever killed it
Good night...

What a game…looking forward to Saturday.

One game at a time guys, lets beat up on AP and get it done!

Come on Angels

Let’s take them at the Bronx.

Looking back to the Posada at bat

The first 2 called strikes of that at bat were balls.

Love Lackey’s fire and his disdain for how Scioscia managed the game tonight.

No reason they can’t beat Pettite, he is no where near the caliber of pitcher Burnett or CC are.

1 MORE, then worry about fatboy

props to Vlad also
I feel like the Soth

owes Big John a steak dinner

panther

come on guys. he got the save.

fuentes for panther of the game.

he also put 3 guys on base

A-Rod doesn't count. IBB

meh, if fuentes wasnt arods b*tch the whole series, sciosc wouldnt have ordered the IBB.

either way, for a closer, 1 walk is many

Is it over yet...

can I open my eyes now?

I just couldn't post during the game.

For some reason, I knew that if I posted, we’d lose.

P.S. Got a perfect score on my final!!!!
Halo karma is strong in the ether tonight!
Wow! Congratulations.

hahah keep doing what u gotta to keep this train rolling

But

were you standing by?

Yes, I was.

As were Red October and Red Foxx.

ok random but IMPORTANT

did anyone see cano and kendry about in the 9th right after cano got hit by a pitch?

i’m PRETTY sure kendry made a very inappropriate gesture to cano…and it was AWESOME.

errr no *about in that question
DJ Mbenga holding a block party across the street
Why do you guys call them "Panthers"?

lol long story..

There is a home page, it has a picture of a panther, as well as some text.

Read all about it!

Good Question

What kind of idiots are running this site?

Rumour has it...

…a bunch of angry nuts.

Saturday rainout= Lackey game 7
and weaver or saunders for game 6?
saundo game 6

Lackey+Weaver for game 7

Lackey+Weaver What a tag team

CC game six?
CC game 7
oh, i see, if there is rain, who knows
You think those same idiots who didn't call the first two games for rain are suddenly going to worry about a little rain?
Holy Crap! Is 4773 posts a record for a 9 inning game?
Look's like Downing's luck held. Man what a game!

How many heart attacks were there tonight that were Scioscia’s fault?

let's pool some money to send him to NY
No kidding. I wish.
Thanks, guys...

I even brought a GOOD LUCK CHARM: One of my Yankee fan friends….

His attendance at Angel Yankee games have yielded 3 straight wins including two 10+ run Angel offensive outbursts (Chicken Wings say HELLO) and one of them was the Garret Anderson 10-RBI game. That guy is on fire. He hates it when the Yankees play the Angels. He was a gamer though and a good sport. I was actually in P257 in the second row. If you see the Teixeira 3-run 2B, I am right behind a bank of four Yankee fans right next to the rockpile out in 257. They were noisy, but not obnoxious.

I had a great time and am truly stoked to have this run of good luck. I am usually only good for a 0.500 record (2007/2008), but I really have a hot hand right now. My next game … World Series game 1. BRING IT ON!

so

what was the shirt-short/pants-hat combo?

I actually went fairly mellow...

I had a fashion faux-pas with my $13.99 reebok “family value” Angels POLO underneath my Reggie Jackson Mitchell and Ness 1986 jersey (I usually only wear a T-shirt underneath … not a polo). I wore my new BP Halos cap (which I had LOST during games 1 – 4 … is it related to the Halos poor showing????).

Can’t wear the jersey again until the World Series. Maybe in a Game 6 I might bring it out again. Definitely not in Game 1 or 2.

Mathis...

3rd most doubles in ALCS History!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That makes so little sense.

He’s the AK of ’09

+1

Fucking nuts. What is up with the HITTING MACHINE known as JEFF MATHIS? He is SO GETTING LAID.

6 straight hits

Angels Postseason Record (according to Fox)

Seattle has Ichiro, Minnesota has Mauer and we have Mathis.

2010 Batting Champion?

woah

he is so on, and so getting laid.

god I hate ESPN

Jeff Weaver, who started Game 3 for the Angels, pitched a hitless eighth before Fuentes barely escaped the ninth. After two quick outs, he walked Alex Rodriguez with nobody on base before walking Hideki Matsui and hitting Cano with a pitch to load the bases for the slumping Swisher, who battled Fuentes for seven pitches before popping out.

WTF still can’t get his name right? JEFF WEAVER ?! WTF

mlb tv is going nuts about Mathis right now!!!
ESPN news thought that the Saunders press conference was Lackey
The Anonymous Angels.
There were like only two questions...

and one of them was just stupid … “what’s it like having to pitch when you didn’t know you were going to pitch?”

Who the fuck was that? What a DUMB QUESTION. Cuckoo!!!

The media lady from the halos was funny “I have Joe Saunders here … and we don’t have any questions … if that’s the case, we will let Joe go …” then that guy asks that dumb question.

hell yes!

Halos WIN!!!

missed the game… again (AHHH!), but i was getting text updates all night at work. i can’t believe how well Mathis is doing (never thought I’d say that), and Big John had it going on!

on to game 6, baby!!!

Scioscia on MLB now
Pettite is def beatable

does cc’s fat ass come back to haunt him?

Sorry but I have to go with Vald as POTG

Guy got it done early and late by driving in runs. Not to mention he got the 2 out hit that tied the game for the Angels. Morales was clutch as well but there was pressure off once the game was tied.

Mathis has been huge but not Panther …..love what he has done but not a Panther tonight just a real good game until he couldnt get the bunt down and K’d on a fastball down the middle

To be fair...

calling for Mathis to bunt in that situation was just retarded. He’s been torching the ball this postseason, so why in God’s name get him to lay down a dinky bunt?

Because thats the way you play the game in that situation

the situation calls for the but and thats what Mathis needs to do when asked!!

Can't argue with you there

and Soth calls him the best bunter on the team.

The Math Man has laid down some pretty dweet bunts

But I dunno if he’s better than the Admiral these days.

There is no way he has been better than Aybar...

…maybe in practice.

leading the league w/bunt singles
And the first try nearly was perfect.
vlad should be batting 6th

against righties

terry is destroyin this caller!!!

OMG

describe, please
yes please...
please
I'll hop aboard the bandwagon too

Please

well the first caller said

i think Lackey should have stayed in the game. Then he went OFF
who are we to make that decision. Did we win the game. Of course it was tough decision but you arent going to question Scioscia. It was great

Sure we are going to question him

Everyone is and they all thought it was a bad move!!!

As they so often say

Hindsight is 20-20. If I was the manager I would have considered putting Oliver in to face Damon before that.

Tex, .400 BA against Lackey.

With a large sample size. Also wanted to turn Tex around.

No thanks I ride the horse and see what happens with Lackey...he hasnt allowed 1 yet I am going to sit and see
Oh, I do too. I was so sad to see Soth walking out there.
Once he crossed that base line it was too late

Disappointing, but the team worked through it.

Maybe I was numb out there in center field, but...

it seemed perfectly logical to me at the time. I didn’t even think about it until I read it here. I thought Lackey was done. Oliver has been TOUGH AS NAILS in the postseason. Unfortunately Darren “All Over” showed up. It was just simply bad luck. 1-2 “history” of Teix versus Oliver is hardly a sample size to hang your hat on.

I liked the move.

I think sosh should be able to trust oliver not to let 4 runs in...
I think Oliver HAD BEEN the MVP of our postseason...

and most consistently GOOD performer… It was a surprise to see him get lit up. Teixeira knew something … EITHER good scouting or a stolen sign. He knew what was coming on the first pitch. He was ready.

Teix did have a couple months

to scout the guy

Tex was def. sitting on the breaking ball..

maybe he thought Olly would go for it since Lackey had used his breaker so effectively

I was more worried about the next two innings if Lackey wasn't still there to hold down the Yanks.

I was honestly expecting him to go 140 pitches if that’s what it took, as long as he held the lead.

I refuse to say it was the flat out WRONG choice though, I have faith in my Manager of the Year.

I LOVED the Weaver insertion...

that was a surprise and a very pleasant one. J Weave was solid.

like game 3 alds last year!

i was there rooting for the only win…sigh.

Love Little Weav out of the pen
Lackey was losing his shit after getting squeezed

But he pulled it together for the Damon AB.
He didn’t look like a man that was going to give up any runs.

That said, DO isn’t a bad choice

Oliver really doesnt have a swing and miss pitch though

Dont care about the stats but I know Lackey had not given up any runs. He is paid to be that guy right there that is what you do with your #1 front line starter. You lean on him to get the job done. If Mike did the same thing with the hitters Figgins is down in the lineup and Juan is out. …..hmmmmm

Oliver still hasn't given up any ERs
The hell he hasnt ......

What game are you watching? Tex doubles off of Oliver and scores when Oliver gives up a hit to Matsui. 1 run

Jespsen replaces Oliver and allows triple to Cano that plates Matsui…..2 runs Thats runs 5 and 6 (2 runs allowed and no outs recorded). I would try to figure out his ERA for the night as well but thats not possible. That would have made him the loser

That MAY happen in the next game...

I agree about Oliver, but I hope you see my point of view, which was backed up by Soth’s post-game comments: Turn Teix around and Oliver has been solid in the 2009 post-season. Teix is powerful from the right, yes, but not as strong as from the left.

anti-KMO
Not really...

both K-Mo and Teix are stronger from the left. Teix has more RH power than does K-Mo.

He should have ran out to the second base umpire and talked about a Howard's TV

That’s legal, right?

i tend to agree...

if your going to live by your ace in an elimination game, die with him as well. but you cant fault the choice of oliver… up to this game he was unstoppable out of the pen.

PLEASE
have you used 714 tix?

i’m worried they are snail-mailed rather than e-mailed… do you know?

I have NOT used them, they're just advertising all over AM 830.

You can call, maybe even right now?

Mike Scioscia, we used to have a manager here named

Gene Mauch. He pulled his ace once with two outs in an inning, the lead, momentum, etc.

don't remind us
Why ohhhh Why would this be mentioned
better no than

on the game thread when it happened, i would have disconnected the site!

FUCKIN' A, on the Angels site it says that Burnett is the WP.
opiejeanne, I never thought I'd see you use an f-bomb!
I have been using them quite liberally when it was appropriate recently.

And I have used my rationed F-bomb every month. Usually on something that deserves it.

OpJ i replied above
tonight was my first f bomb in over 4400 comments
You're a good boy. I, however, am not always a nice girl.
I've seen cranky OpJ...

trolls don’t want to mess w/her!

I ain't cranky. I'm happy right now, and I just don't like the excessive negativity from a couple of posters.
u just read 2 responses I wrote, but in the wrong order. :)
Yes, I did. I was down farther in the thread when I spotted the other one.
She's like the den mom.
And it's crediting Marte with a hold and Hughes with a BS????

WTF???

i think you can still get a hold when your team loses
Who gives a shit

We know what happened and it will be corrected

Hughes did blow the save and Marte had the hold
that means wild pitch...
kendry morales named pepsi clutch player of game by mlb network
BP Player of the game on ESPN Radio

BP = Bitchin’ Panther I’m guessing.

Sweet vindication!!!!

I said this series wasn’t over, and it isn’t, on to NY, and once again, f&ck the skanks!!!!

mike scioscia pregame conf : WHERE ARE OUR CHEESE STEAKS??

courtesy mlb network

Stat posted about Oliver against Tex

he was hitting 500 against him………nice choice

What sample size, though?
1-2 before tonight
PHHHHT....

Aviator overreacting… ;)

I liked the move, because Lackey was well over a hundred, a bit hot-headed AND Teixeira would have hit a GRAND SLAM against Lackey since he has more power from the left side.

Panther = Christopher Llyod
Ya gotta believe!
Was he at the game? I was watching postseason.tv, not the whole broadcast.

But I LOVE THAT MAN!

(creepy video here)

Angels fan don't deserve what this game has brought i had about 4 heat attacks in one game seemed like the Boston game all over againn
Same feelings here
Sissy.
mean girl

leave the weak hearted alone ;)

Sosh made some terrible calls in this game...

but at least he pulled the trigger on putting in Weaver in the 8th. say what you want but it sure seems like the halos were battling for sosh after the top of that 7th inning. i understand him putting in oliver but not yanking lackey.. if that makes sense. oliver has been the hot hand in the ’pen all postseason long

In Sosh's defense...

Lackey got a nice 2nd out there but he was imploding. He did walk the previous batter on 4 pitches. Lackey becomes a head case when things don’t go his way.

Fuentes? What can you do. He’s been our closer all season. It’s kinda difficult to suddenly yank that away right now. I will say that next spring training I’d like to see the closer position as wide open with Jepsen, Shields and Santana all competing for it.

if santana is competing for closer job ... who is the angels 5th starter...

and thats not even taking into account if we lose lackey…i agree with fuentes right now there’s not really anything you want to do to change that right now… but next season id like to see him become the lefty specialist

HALOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

mike scioscia...

has completely lost it

Shut. Up.
ohoh...see

cranky OpJ

No, Righteous OpieJeanne.

I shall sass the iniquitous.

You Go Girl !!!
I think I shall

go to bed. It’s nearly midnight and that game wore me out.

And people are telling me I’m cranky.

You are awesome...

impossible to be cranky after that game.

Thanks. Good night.

I have to tape some drywall tomorrow at our cabin.

Which means I have to get up too doggoned early am.

Thanks Sosh

I just aged 3 fucking years in 1 night ! I just got back from riding my bike 5 miles so I can try and get some sleep tonight.

Bettty Ford denied you?
I'm stilll not calm enough to post about this game.

But I’ll just say… Wow.

Jeter looks ASSHURT

on the MLB network interview…

well i got a drunk woman to deal with

ADIOS HALO FANS
HAVE A GREAT NIGHT

What Was Mike Scoscia Thinking?

Is the latest blog entry, at The Book Blog. Time to help defend or bash the Angels manager.
vr, Xei

No thanks. Not interested in upping his hits.
I love upping MATHIS' hits, though!

you spelled his name wrong!
vr,Fig

n

Did you see Lackey whe he said to Sosh, ‘This is MINE’…This is MINE…Are you shittin’ me?"

Lackey shoulda been left out there……hell, Weaver shoulda been left out there….I cant handle Fuentes….I thought Frankie was the cardiac kid…we need to get rid of this guy.

Looks like Lackeys price just went up…..WAAAAYYYY up.

I texted my friend: if we re-sign Lackey it'll be a Hometown Premium after this one.
After the Kazmir bed-crapping episode, the Halos better give $20 per year.
that should be millions, by the way.
Yankee Fan Perspective (provided by my buddy)

He is sweatin’:
1. The Angels have the Yankees number … They “always beat the Yankees.”
2. 2004. The Yankees went home with a 3-2 lead … SAME SITUATION. (hopefully same result)

The PRESSURE IS ON THE YANKEES. GO HALOS!

guys I post in another forum called 2+2 and they are shitting it

I’m like the only Angels fan there with a handful of Yankee haters but they are so paranoid after having choked it in 04 that it’s not even funny. And hell yeah the pressure is on them. We are playing with the houses money.

cool beans. I hope the players are following suit.
We're going to ROCK THE HOUSE, yo.

Beat down on the “house that Ruth built II”

Did you mean to say

the house the tax payers built

2+2

The poker forum?

so guys...

what do you think ? any changes need to be made for game 6 ? are we still gonna ride figgy to the bitter end ? is rivera’s 2B a sign of heating up at last ? i dunno bout all of you but i’d love to see aybar get a shot to lead off … and of course since pettite’s going game 6 we will see HK @ 2nd. we BETTER see mathis behind the plate again.

Terry Smith on AM 830 STRONGLY ALLUDED to ...

Figgins batting #9 and Aybar at lead-off.

i would love to see it.

when you really think about we’ve been really fortunate to have gotten by for this long when we’ve had really NOTHING from our leadoff man throughout the postseason. my only fear is would aybar press, a la HK in the 2nd spot.

An 0.065 batting average for a lead-off hitter is a SIN...

Figgy is really looking BAD. He can pull it together, though. YOU CAN DO IT!

But how BEAUTIFUL

was the top of the order today?

besides figgy...

looking good… thats the kind of game we’ve been waiting for … Bobby, Torii, Vlad, and Kmo all coming thru in the same game… and yet i still almost went into cardiac arrest haha

dude...

terry seems to be talkin out of his ass tonight. Love the guy but Erv for game seven and aybar leading off…??

no way. not happening. Soth aint tinkering with shit.

oh six five doesnt cut it, man...

Fig is out at the top. Terry’s right. Ervin is a wise choice. He won Game 5 in 2005 ALDS and was clutch in a few CG’s this season, including the division clincher.

Figgy's walk to kick start the O and put up 4 runs, was amazing..

and makes me forget how UTTERLY HORRIBLE he did today.

I had to look at the box score to see he didn’t hit for beans, AGAIN.

Has aybar been in the 1 spot at all this season? I’d really like to see izturis in there instead of figgins, but that isn’t going to happen.

I actually hope ...

that Figgy is in the leadoff AND he goes nuts in a 6-for-6 performance.

i dont think anyone doesnt want figgy to go nuts

but, he’s had a mental collapse, it appears…probably realize that a national broadcast = more exposure = contract in jeopordy.

he didnt look too bad tonight...

doesnt show in the box score but if i recall he had good contact on a few pitches

he roped one to swisher.

seems like the first time ive seen him out of the infield.

I still say go with izzy..he hasnt done much, but hes only had 12 at bats.

you know your right...

esp. with the lefty … figgy has looked absolutely helpless against left handers.

There is no new realization for Figgins...

HE’S MR ANTI-OCTOBER. He just VANISHES come playoff time.

That being said, he had a KEY WALK in the deciding game in Boston. And for that, I applaud him in this postseason. However, he’s really struggling at SWINGING the bat. I hope he turns it around and does it from the leadoff spot.

this is true

although he did do decent in 08…but yeah, figgy is known for POOF vanishing when we really need him the most.

i'd settle for the aybar- figgy flip flop

izzy hasnt been much better than figgy with the bat in october.

He had a sacrifice out and a walk. He was very useful both of those times.
yes I like both of those decisions

Santana has ownage on the Yankees and over a nice size sample.

If it's not Weaver for game 7

it sure as hell better be Ervin… and i’d like to think in a game 7 sosh would pull all the stops and have everyone on standby …

1st things 1st though..

Saundo needs to pitch another gem like in game 2

saundo has been CY SAUNDO

since coming off his injury.

and then..........

Fuentes needs to NOT fuck it up.

preferably the angels win by more than 1...

so maybe we can avoid fuentes all together

I know you can't play the "what if" game......

but it kills me that we are one Fuentes cream puff pitch away from being up 3-2 in this series.

gotta play devil's advocate 1 more time...

true about the meatball to Arod… but just the same had the angels played fundamentally sound baseball in either of the first 2 games (esp. game 2) then this thing also could of been 3-2 who knows maybe even better. speaks volumes when you think how bad the angels have played in some stretches and yet this series has been really been something, besides game 4.

he went extinct for our sins though
Good point.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We have to take the game we played tonight with us to New York. If we don’t do that it’s all a moot point anyway. We have to swing the bats and we have to SCORE EARLY from here on out if we’re to have a real fighting chance.

You can be sure that all the borderline calls (or the majority), will go in the Yankees favor. That leaves little room for error. Game 6 will probably be our toughest game of the season. If we can somehow win that, then I think the pressure really switches over to the Yanks for Game 7.

That comment was response to "Saundo needs another Gem"
Erv for game 7 makes sense...

He used Weaver tonight which points to that and Weaver is suspect as a starter in Yankee Stadium because he’s a flyball pitcher.

I see Santana on a VERY SHORT LEASH...

with Weaver ready to relieve early on.

If Weaver can relieve, why not just start him?

He made a minimal amount of pitches tonight, it was like his day of throwing.

You know what? Who the hell cares? Let’s focus on game six. You’re always talking ahead of yourself, DR. Shame on you.

He beotch...

I was just regurgitating the Terry Smith “hunch:”
http://www.halosheaven.com/2009/10/22/1097260/scioscia-dodges-bullet-angels-live#23223519

"hey" is for horses...

and a usual one or two beers per week quota has been shattered with five consecutive since I arrived at the homefront. Dos Equis Amber is my “good mojo” celebration beer.

Terry Smith DID sound pretty confident in Joe Saunders.
Uh.... we are on different pages here....

YES, Joe Saunders is ABSOLUTELY the game six starter.

However, Terry went out on a limb and suggested/SPECULATED that Ervin Santana will be the game 7 starter (not “if necessary” … it WILL BE NECESSARY DAMMIT!)

Oh, right right, I heard that too.

I can’t imagine Santana starting in game seven, considering Weaver only made 12 pitches, I think.

Hey, did you see the guy on the rocks? That was pretty funny.

Santan has ownage over the skanks
Sosh doesnt like Weaver at NY

it will be Ervin in 7

Thursday was the day for WTY's bullpen session anyways.

He just did it on the real mound instead of the ’pen.

i'm cool with Aybar leading off for now

god i thought i would never say that

no way santana starts game 7…no freakin’ way

please switch them Sosh
The Yankee six-run rally was BRUTAL to watch...

and the Yankee fan cheering was deafening. I couldn’t believe the noise. Well, they were sent home sad. It was a nail biter and we won clinging to a thread. Fuentes sure made it interesting.

any fights or ejections
You know...

I didn’t see a SINGLE fight. Everyone was quite civil. I was surprised. In the ALDS game 1 and 2 (I attended), there were so many fights I cannot even count them. Tonight, I did not see a single fight anywhere.

red sox hate...
I can confirm this from my perch in Nosebleed land, Sec. 539 Row N

The crowd was VERY well behaved, although a lot were quite drunk, and one guy did his cannonballs into the fountain. Yankee fans were loud, but very considerate..

as I said somewhere else here...

there was a lot of alcohol consumed in the stadium tonight. folks were still mellow, though. Happy drunks are “all good” in my book.

he was on tv swiss we saw him...drunk.
There were at least three fights in our general vicinity at that game, one of them being the infamous YouTube girls + friend.

There was a woman who stood up and waved a big Yankees flag during the 6th and 7th inning, in 135. She must have been really obnoxious because the fans in 236 were standing up and yelling at her, and the ones seated near her were really angry. She got thrown out during “God Bless America”.

Actually, I saw a fight up in the left field View

I was in 406, the fight was one section over from me, I’d say around the middle of 7th.

Two guys were holding a dude back from going after some dick who did who knows what….

In the mlb.com highlight where KMO get’s the go-ahead hit, you can see a group of Angels fans surrounding one VERY dejected person in a “I heart NY” shirt. It’s a great image.

AW! We need to do a screen capture and make it a poster.

Look at that fag and his I <3 NY shirt.
But

does someone in NY love him?

Jesus?
Not even Jesus loves the Yankees
That shirt is so fucking cool
Fred has a hottie with him

she is showing some shoulder too!

HE is in front of the New York Headache Kid. Great guy. I sat in the 6th row behind him for 6 seasons.

I like Fred

he spilled beer on my girlfriend once… just once.

That's section 240!

I saw them from my spot in 257

I used to sit in Row F

Seats 9 and 10

Right...I sat in your exact seats earlier this season...

Torii Hunter homerun in April sometime landed in Row E. Forgot who the Halos were playing.

In Scioscia's defense

if he keeps Lackey in and lackey gives up a run (just one), we’d be crucifying Soth for that.

But, damn, what a dumb move taking Lackey out…

why can't he trust oliver or jepsen?
He should have been able to.
He should have left Lackey in...

He should have had weaver come out for the 9th…

He dodged bullets tonight AND I lost a lil love for the manager of the year tonight.

hate me

“For them to come back like that and then for us to turn around and come back, it just wears you out,” Chone Figgins said. “It’s one of those games you love to be a part of but hate to watch. For us to finish like that was big.”

This is very true. This will be a great flight back to New York for this team, and a considerably more worrisome one for the team that so recently blew a 3-1 series and can smell the failure in the cabin.

i said this when we lost the lead...

i said it will be better coming back and winning than winning 4-0…we got this.

Interviewer to Mathis: "when was the last time you had six hits in a row?"

Mathis: “That’s a good question….. I don’t know, I don’t have my notepad.”

Hilarity.

notepad? haha
SWEET...

I just saw myself on the Mattress 2B highlight! WOOT!

did u see he has the 3rd most doubles in ALCS history ?!
and where r u sitting?
257B seat 2

next to the rockpile between the pile and the bullpens. closer to the pile aisle.

i'll look out...so close 2 the drunk guy right
As I said before...I blew that guys left ear out...

so he just stood up in the concourse area above the pavilion.

no drunk guy on the rocks...

i know where your seat is…ill look

My seats were TOO CLOSE to the rockpile to see that guy...

I stood on my seat and was able to see him raising his hands. What a TOOL.

Wonder Dog making the Figgy to the 9 spot call on Angels "live"

surely a replay by now, but fresh news to me.

no, thanks

had a kings game on before no angels live…

I've got Angels live on ... Cox FSN West, yo.
I know I put it on 2

but wasn’t on before due to a Kings game…lame

Terry Smith was saying the same thing on the way home.

Aybar to lead off, Figgins to hit ninth.

This can really stir ish up
and we need some things shaken up

Figgy has gotten to comfortable up there. Let him know he is replaceable if even for just a message.

This playoff performance might get him permanently replaced.
Doesnt Napoli usually catch Saundo?

MATHIS FOR DH!!!

Napoli bat = SLOW

Time for Naps to be a spectator.

dont take vlad's bat out of the lineup now..

Naps rides the pine… Anyone notice like ALL of Mathis’ doubles have landed in like the exact same spot?

Terry Smith mentioned on post-game radio:

Vlad has a hit in every post-season game. Also, the big screen mentioned that Vlad is leading the team in hits and average in this postseason.

Yeah, just kidding about mathis DHing

but he is the better OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE catcher, at this point, than napoli.

He needs to play.

But sosh lets the pitcher dictate the catcher. (i THINK saundo uses napoli)

NOT IN OUR HOUSE

Just back from what is the best played playoff game I ever attended. VERY well played game on both sides, I can’t really think of any mistakes by either team defensively, which was nice. Crowd was mellow at the first pitch, but immediately responded to the 1st inning explosion…from there, the crowd was off the hook.

- Why didn’t Soth squeeze with Figgy up and runners at the corners in the 8th? I thought we should have, especially with Girardi going to Mariano.
- Everyone in the crowd was baffled at the decision to pull Lackey
- Vlad’s double in the 1st was absolutely SMOKED, Jeter almost jumped and caught it, but it still traveled 2/3’s of the way to wall on the fly, and all the way on the roll
- How close was ball 4 to Posada in the 7th? The crowd was livid.
- After the game, saw Bengie Molina and his family talking with his brother Jose outside the elevators in front of the Angels team store, man those guys are the definition of stocky…It feels weird to be that close to them and see that I’m much taller than them (I’m 6’2")

YES WE CAN

+1

Not tonight and NOT IN OUR HOUSE.

That’s what I kept saying all night! Way to rep the Halos.

For me, it was the most stressful game I’ve ever attended. Even Game 6 in 2002 was not as stressful. That game, I had given up already, so I was on bonus time when the Halos rallied.

Just heard a friend who was at the game was hanging out with Bengie and his family in the Diamond Club...

Wonder who he was rooting for? Jose or his old TEAM? Need I ask? ;-D Kidding…

Admiral vs. Melky

I saw this during tonight’s game and noticed this during the last few games. A caller to Angels Talk mentioned this too, that Admiral and Melky are talking a lot of shit to each other…wonder what the evolution of that is all about? Anybody else been noticing that?

BIG TIME...

I’ve noticed that, too. They DO NOT appear to be friendly in their discussions. They look downright PISSED OFF. Not sure what’s going on there.

Yes...

but.. not sure if it was melky, somebody put the tag on aybar (obviously not melky…i THINK it was cano), and aybar shoved him off, and had a look of disgust on his face, and said some smack.. i think he’s mixing it up with a few of the yanks…

yeah i've noticed this...

someone had also mentioned something about the AB where Fuentes plunked Melky, when he got to 1st apparently Kmo did some kind of gesture to Melky… i didnt catch it on the TV but did anyone see this ?

I was in section 257 with my head in my hands....

didn’t see it.

He hit Cano, didn't he?
ah you're right... just saw the highlight...

somebody was talking about the gesture after that plunking though.. i really want to see what it is… whatever the case i like the fire … the young studs aren’t taking no mess !!

Game 4 or 5

I think it was Melky who took out Aybar at second trying to turn a DP. It was a pretty hard slide, he didn’t just try to trip him up or force a bad throw, he nearly knocked him on his ass. It looked like interference to me and I was surprised they didn’t call the batter out as well.

God, what a maddening game

Horrible decisions by both managers. If you ask me, no one deserved to win, but since when did “deserving” have anything to do with “winning”? I’ll take it.

I never thought the Angels had a chance in the series after falling behind 0-2. Now they’re just teasing me. However it turns out, the 2009 squad is a team to be proud of. Tonight they showed what they’ve accomplished.

No one asked you.
lol!

jeez, opie, go easy on the fellow, he’s realizing that something SPECIAL is brewing here. I believe. I just wish I had the nads (and funds) to get on a freaking plane tomorrow and REP THE HALOS in the Bronx.

My only time to see the Halos in NY was 2005, when they played the Mets. Bartolo Colon got a hit and the Angels blew out the Mets 13 – 4 or something like that. Even Steve Finley got a freakin’ home run. It was awesome.

Ok, I saw red when he wrote "If you ask me, no one deserved to win".

After that it’s all blank.

yep...

Nap catches Saunders usually. UGH. it would be awful nice to have those doubles in game 6. just.a.thought.

I think it should be pointed out

that we have outplayed the Yankees in the series, meaning that we have played the series to what our capabilities are and the only we reason we trail is because of moments of not performing.

Game 1 we could have tied the game at 2-2 with Kendry’s RBI single, we lost two runs because of errors and we are playing OUR game

Game 2 we were up our pitching and defense was magnificent and if we get one clutch hit from somebody, and we shut down the Yankees one batter (because after A Rod was freddy guzman and brett gardner) we win…Girardi clearly thought that the Yankees had backs against the wall since he used a gazillion pitchers

Game 3 we won that game at our strength again, manufactoring runs, getting a homerun from Vlad etc.

Game 4 this is the one game we never played well

Game 5 we are playing well, get a terrible call that messed us up but we came right back, so generally speaking we had control of the game

I have lost countless years of my life to the stress of these playoffs

All worth it for a win. GO HALOS!!

NAP V. MATH

When Mathis is behind the plate, Angels pitchers own a 3.98 ERA. Their collective ERA is more than a run higher — 5.20 — with Napoli catching. For their careers, the gap narrows. Mathis is at 3.94 in 222 starts, while Napoli comes in at 4.41 in 305 starts.

oddly enough Nap gets so much playing time because of his offense while mathis is a Scoisia kind of player
id also like to mention that while the media thinks russell martin is like this terrific player

Napoli is a greater threat at the plate and combined with Mathis is a much better position for the Angels..how bad was Russ martin this postseason hes always a K waiting to happen

Napoli had this insane OPS for like a minute this season

but has crashed back down to earth.

Dude isnt nearly as good as anyone makes him out to be… Hank Conger is the future.

Unbelievable game!

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t holding out much hope for tonights game, and when we fell behind 6-4, I was certain they were going to roll over and die.

God damn they proved me wrong, and I loved it.

Are we praying for rain on Saturday now? Should we have a collective rain dance?
I like the thought of Lackey being available for a possible game seven.

I want rain but I just don't want to have to wait until Sun.
Patience, grasshopper.

You need to channel your inner Bobby Abreu.

The crow never tasted so damn good!

;)

Poultry is yummy.
Speaking of which...

I was hoping for some Hooters’ freebies, but no such luck. Oh well.

Blame Figgins.
lackey available for game 7?

hmm…

for game 7 I was thinking lackey inning 1, weaver 2, saundo 3, santana 4, kaz 5, oliver 6, bulger 7, jepsen 8, fuentes 9.

We might even call you in for a third of an inning.

Be ready.

Do you think these same umps who wouldn't stop either of the first two games will be worried about a little rain on Saturday?
Terry Smith said there was 100% chance of precipitation.

You’re very confrontational tonight, Opie. I think it might be bedtime for you.

Probably, but that wasn't meant to sound so cranky. Sorry. I just think that these same idiots

who didn’t stop the game when it was pouring freezing rain, not even when it snowed for half an inning, will be disinclined to postpone either of the games this weekend because of a lesser amount of rain. And it’s supposed to be a bit warmer.

if the yanks had a 4 run lead...yes game over
I think MLB makes decisions on that kind of stuff, not necessarily the umpires.
As I understand it

It’s MLB’s decision until the game starts, and then it’s the umpires’.

panther

i was kidding about fuentes for panther, haha

GMJ for Rivera?

May have been talked about – but thread comments going wild keep it hard to keep up with. Anyone else feel this way?

I know he got the hit in the 8th but he has looked terrible and not having good at bats. GMJ couldn’t be doing any worse than Juan and adds some more speed and coverage area in LF.

Damn typos

comment thread counts going wild make it hard to keep up

I was pretty adamant about GMJ for Juan

But after seeing (i forget who) hold up, respecting Juancho’s cannon arm, AND his 8th inning hit, i say ride him out.

GMJ has been clutch with RISP but he’s most likely going to just strike out and piss me off and yell at sosh for not starting juan.

while juan has sucked...look a little bit closer...

his hits against the red sox came at prime moments…and like tonight, his leadoff hit in the 8th could’ve been a nice insurance run.

Plus, least we forget that Juan played in New York…so hes use to the weather, fans, etc.

juan is as used to new york weather

as kendry morales is.

Oh?

I missed the stats on baseball-reference.com where it says that KMo played in NY as Juancho has ….. help me out here.

you wont find it.

but to think that Juan is a adept to cold weather because he played a handful of games in “cold”(id like to know how many of those games were low 40s) several years ago, is pretty damn funny.

I see your point...

;)

Notice I said weather, FANS, ETC....

sarcastic asshole… ; )

The New York Yankees of Cuba

oh yeah, you were at the game and missed McCarver’s remark about KMO’s team in the Old Country.

that was just such a stroke

Kendry was a good player … and as evidence he played for the equivalent of the Yankees in Cuba.

If he had played for the Phillies of Cuba, well then fuck off loser.

admittedly...he DID play for the best team in Cuba...

and not only did he rake for them but he also PITCHED!

Then he was suspended for trying to defect…

And that was before he was thinking of defecting, so when they wouldn't let him play baseball he decided to defect.

As lazy as he looks, Juan has much better range than GMJ, takes much better routes to balls, and has a much better arm. Juan may be struggling at the plate, but his struggles are par for the course for GMJ. Keep Rivera in there.

I'm not saying its a strong as Rivera's

but IIRC – GMJ has a decent arm too.

Even if I give you that, the hitting is at best a tossup, but probably still in favor of Juan since the Yanks are starting lefties the rest of this series. And then there’s the range factor. Juan only looks slow, he actually covers a lot of ground out there, more than GMJ.

GMJ will run all over God's creation to get to a ball

and not ever in a straight, or direct line.

this is so true

he also was like a human hi-light real.

“The Human Highlight Film” is Dominique Wilkins’ nickname. No way GMJ gets that label.

I'm unsure how that was a bad move

You turn Teixeira around because he’s a tad worse from the right side. Teix has smoked Lackey in his career. Oliver has been pitching just fine and can get righties out anyway. John was frustrated (understandably) and he’d just walked the bases loaded. I’m not sure in what way that was a poor managerial decision.

THIS

As I said above, I had NO CLUE about a controversy, until I came home and turned on the computer. At the game, I was thinking “Olly’s gonna shut this shit down and keep the Lack-inator in line for the W”

Yeah, it’s just Rev over-reacting. The move only looks bad in hindsight. Oliver had a better chance to get Teix out than Lackey. He hung a pitch and Teix knew what to do with it. Just bad luck, not bad managing.

Rev overreact? Come on!

That’s preposterous!

It's UNPOSSIBLE!
if you were not alive for Gene Mauch in ALCS Game 5

then you don’t know what it means to see the manager remove the pitcher in a game we got at home in Game 5 of the ALCS.

I under-reacted if anything.

You really thought taking out Lackey was a bad move? I was torn, myself. Oliver has been such a stud lately.
Your over-reactions in 1986

don’t justify over-reactions now. I was alive for that, but not really into baseball (I was 4). Either way, the evidence points to Scioscia making a good decision. Managers can’t base pitching changes on 23 year old make believe voodoo hexes.

I thought u sound old...like LEE old

u are my age…sorry if u don’t know who LEE is.

Game one starter for the Phillies?
good answer...

but for one he is not old…

Famous Civil War general?
hahahah....he is def. old...

but no. :)

MLB Angels Forum LEE

man I really don’t miss that guy

Rev, was he ever on here…I bet he was

Lee and his boyfriend Munkee

hahahaha good

man…is he really that old…guy is a nut job. offering free dinners to people and stuff.

Lee/Diligence

he kept creating new accounts with different names. He did not know what an ISP is .

I heard he was really 70 or 80

one guy actually met up w/him for the free dinner…

It was obvious Diligence was Lee and everybody knew

I left that other forum mostly because of Lee.
MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...

can I have another helping of Pedo-Perve delight?

Gen. Robert E. Lee ???
already been said and I already said who Lee was/is.
Missed it.

Reading this thread for the first time. Reading it from top to bottom, don’t get all the remarks before posting.

BAN ME PLEASE ;)

hahaha

banned…

also great job on the photoshopped pic of the jeter ass grab…I know it wasn’t that hard to do but great job seeing jerry “look” at Arod like that. do u do anything in the field or just know how to use it…I liked the Kaz devil pic too.

just for fun

and for free

Manager can't...

…but bloggers fucking can, idiot. Go cry to Raisa about it.

Question Rev...

do u get a different view of the comments? how did u respond so fast…or did u just see the GORBACHAV5 come in and waited for him to post something negative about u?

I only post negative comments about ridiculous statements like Scioscia getting fired for making a perfectly defensible pitching change.

I think it was a good idea too bud.

I was asking Rev a serious question.

There's probably a buzzer that goes off when I log on
ollie has been light out and actually still has no ER

sadly…

in your dreams

I just happened to be here, my midnight Tarot reading appointment is late.

they come to you?
oh yeah.

People pay more when they make the trip. That is why doctors stopped making house calls.

except for that show on tbs/tnt/usa...forget what channel
Rev has been waiting for years to wipe that inkblot off his forehead.
this guy sounds like chug
Gorby is way smarter than ChugRik

and Gorby can write a coherent sentence without fifteen edits.

But if I had raved about Scioscia’s genius my fear is that Gorby would have mocked me for it.

-1

bad move by sosh

Lackey should have never came out of that game when he did.

Good god, maybe Opiejeanne has the right idea (to sleep) … MLB Network is on “endless loop” for the highlights. I am not sure these five Dos Equis are going to keep me going much longer without any new footage showing up…. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

that is what they do,,,

no more new stuff until morning

News flash: MLB change scheduled World Series umpires to add more experience

CB Bucknor was dropped

Good. I'm not even sure that guy is qualified to umpire a Little League game, let alone a World Series game.
Also, Gov Schwartzenegger has approved NFL 75000 seat stadium be build in LA

hopefully 49ers come to the area

i heard

saints are coming…

the basketball team

has already checked out the Honda center too…no money in NO

Anaheim Packers of Green Bay

Let’s dip that Pringle in some cheese!

oh yeah you're a Packers fan huh?

how much of a clips fan are you? I myself am looking forward to this year w/Gordon, a fit BD and the Blake Show.

not to mention DJ as backup C

Last Presession game is on tomorrow and on tv

Clips sneak in the playoffs.

I think they can get the 7th seed.

Gotta love a league where you can finish 6 games under 500 and still qualify for the post-season.
nope not the west
suns and rockets are out
to me it looks like

Lakers
Spurs
Denver
Portland

are all locks with 5-8 up for grabs. Memphis, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Clippers, Dallas look like the ones that will be playing for those spots.

NO is out too

Dallas, OKC, Clips should make it

blazers are the true sleepers to take out the lakers…people say spurs but I don’t think so.

Lakers

are not locks for the Finals, the west is harder and deeper (insert immature joke here) than before. Should be a good season, hopefully Oden stays healthy could be a real threat.

what could be a big mistake by laker ownership which has not been discussed by many...

the lakers know what it took to win last year…but just because artest is better on defense (and overall) then ariza it doesn’t mean the will “click” the same. artest is a bigger nut job then rodman…we will just have to see. Plus lets see if bynum can last past jan. for a change the dude has weak knees.

resigned Odom was key though for potential repeat
I was talking about Greg Oden from Portland.

but if bynum isnt mr glass this year then Lakers should be good to go.

know i know...just adding
*no
did u see this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CKqTyhR_sg&feature=player_embedded

mbenga gets owned

holy shit poor Mbenga.

At least he got 7 BS today :)

did u see bynum in the background w/the towel?

hilarious

yeah didnt think that was Bynum tho.

haha fuckin bynum.

well I was thinking it was Bynum or Kobe

hard to tell…actions seem more like Kobe’s

it does look like bynums head.

as weird as it sounds.

I understand

just like what Kobe thinks of Mbenga’s head…

WARNING: lower speaker volume…kind of loud

haha ohh that is fucked.
Oden I think is a bust

I’ll give him 1 more year though to decide

I'm just hoping for an 8th spot

if so…most improved team of 09-10 by far.

Only in madden :/

hopefully the jaguars.

49ers????

what a travesty. My worst nightmare, as I would have to root for my damn archrival. Please, Jesus, NO.

Bring the Rams back… if not, please provide an expansion team. I want my kids to see NFL in their home town.

pretty sure the saints need some money and non blackout games...
They will have to re-named, then...

ain’t no Saints in LA, yo. Nothing but devils and Angels.

LA Fallen Saints?

Saints of Los Angeles

I think Motley Crue might have something to say about that…

Hopefully the Jags,

and maybe by that time the season is extended and they increase the number of playoff teams to 8 per conference.

Expansion team is most preferred, IMO

but NFL not expanding anytime soon, 33 or 34 teams is not symmetrical. I’ll take the Jags, Jacksonville is a minor league market…and honestly was a joke that they got the expansion team in the 90’s.

No! No Raiders. Do not want.

Al Davis is a right bastard.

Our focus must be simple

We must only look at winning GM 6. If we do the series is tied and then anything can happen in GM 7. I promise you that all of the pressure is on NYY now. They will press knowing that if they lose GM 6 they also will face elimination. So let’s all focus on taking GM 6 and giving NY a real sweat.

Do you think Adenhart's number will be retired next season as respect?

no … but it will not be issued for at least 10 years and anyone arriving form another team with it will be strongly dissuaded from wearing it.

like the spitball guy right?
speaking of...

i thought 42 is retired for all mlb clubs so why does mariano rivera get a free pass on it?
or is it team’s discretion?

once he is done no one else gets to wear it

he had it before it was retired

dude is favre old
cant believe the vikes are 6-0

he has bailed them out from half of thier potential losses IMO.

I KNOW...late game passes

first loss comes on sun. though…

and the Broncos? really?

Yeah I think so too.

they cant pass their way to a win at Heinz field. Broncos are a feel good story, I hate Cutler and am happy that things have worked out in Denver.

grandfathered in
The team did not dodge a bullet last night

they dodged a multi-warhead nuke. The “pucker factor” on that game was a 10; it never should have been that close.

I don’t care how many saves he got in the regular season, Fuentes is a spot reliever at best; his stuff is mediocre at best. It scares me to death every time Scoscia hands him the ball.

The high water mark of California baseball this year

Enjoy this victory because the Bronx is a whole other sphere of baseball warfare where rally monkeys dare not tread.

That's right!

Just like this:

http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA200410190.shtml

and this:

http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA200410200.shtml

and remember this:

Clinging to hope is no substitute for reality...

…and the reality is that after 39 American League Pennants and 26 World Titles, one year of failure is fairly insignificant.

And to paraphrase Senator Loyd Bentsen: "2009 L.A. Angels, you are no 2004 Red Sox.

One year of failure?

How about eight? What about 2001-2008?

Well, let's see...

I’d rather have our overall track record:

39 AL Pennants
26 World Titles

Than your teams:

1 AL Pennant
1 World Title

See, no matter what you say or do, these are inescapable facts. And it seems to me the Halos have failed seven out of the last eight seasons themselves which isn’t exactly the hallmark of champions.

QUICK! Without looking it up:
  • Who did the Yankees beat to win their 7th, 12th and 19th World Series titles?
  • What year did they win their 15th, 27th and 34th AL Pennants?

More to the point:

  • How many of the Yankeess 26 World Series were you actually around for?

The “Yanks have 26 championships” meme is LAME.

Well...

I’ve personally watched them win in 1961 (Reds), 1962 (Giants), 1977(Dodgers), 1978 (Dodgers), 1996 (Braves), 1998(Padres), 1999(Braves), 2000 (Mets) and watched them lose in 1963(Dodgers), 1964(Cardinals), 1981(Dodgers), and 2001(D-Backs). so that’s what, 8-4 in my lifetime?

Look, just talking some trash with you guys because that’s what you do in a championship series. You guys do have a good team, and aside from the rants about conspiracy theories (love those) and spitballs you seem like a decent bunch. Plus, I lived out in the LA basin for 7 years back in the 80’s so I normally sort of like the Angels…saw them play many times in the Big A in fact, including the game Donnie Moore tossed the grapefruit up to Dave Henderson.

I’ll quit now.

Hah!

ohhh

39 Pennants
26 Titles

Nobody fuck with this guy, hes good. Why would you come over here unless you want attention. Seriously get a hold of yourself unless you are going are playing this Saturday or Sunday. Dont come over here and claim you are a winner, I hate to break it to you, they didn’t win to for you.

Aside from the bad English which I don't understand...

I sometimes post in blogs because:

1. I have a slow day at work and the time to do it
2. I now live in PA and I am DAMN tired of hearing about the Phillies, Penguins and the Steelers constantly
3. I have a long standing connection to the Angels and still have many friends in, and fond memories of SoCal

It used to be that good natured ribbing was OK and even fun and it didn’t require death threats or psychologists’ visits. Perhaps I have been around longer than you and I don’t take this stuff quite as seriously as you seem to be.

On second thought...

…I also lived in Alabama for 5 years and SEC football rivalries has been known to cause patricide…I kid you not.

Dude, I'm not here to have a few laughs with a yankee fan.

thats not me I hate you (yankee fans), boston fans, and bears fans. Bad english? Fuckin grammer nazi…

Not just failure .... FAILURE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS

Our little Donnie Moore game in 1986 and 1995 collapses PALE IN COMPARISON to your team’s bed-crapping in 2004…

the greatest choke of all time :)
If you go to the championship game often enough

it’s bound to happen sooner or later. The Sox had our number that year for sure.

You forgot the asterisk

*except for 2002 and 2005, and most regular season series this decade
