I was never really into comic books, so once I started doing "A Day At The Park", I looked around the internet for some ideas and information on how comics are done.
While researching different comic sites, I ran into superdickery.com. This site has a collection of real comics, but when looking at them today, they have an entirely different meaning. Here is some of the content I found there. Some of this may be close to the line for our site in regards to "taste", so if you are offended easily you might not want to continue.

WOW!
It’s hard to believe that the writers/artists didn’t have some clue as to how these comics came across. Funny as hell.

Oh, they all knew.
This was the 50’s/60’s. The jingoism of the WWII era had been replaced by some really wild adventure/horror/sex themed story lines. A bunch of goodie-goodies pounced in this as a way to get some publicity by decrying the depravity and such that was ‘corrupting the children’ and so the industry self-censored itself with the “Comics Code” to stay in business. Clever writers found ways to work these double entendres in, though.

Yeah, magically, they could swoosh into the future fifty years to imagine how language has evolved. They will laugh at us for using “lol” in 50 years.

I'm sure Chuck Conners knew exactly what he was doing with the wood.
After all, he was a Dodger.

My friend was a big Action Comics fan
I remember reading his issues, and telling him “DC sucks, Marvel rules.” Seems that the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder really did.
