was going to be satisfied with a sweep of boston this post season. somehow i got sucked into the angels having a shot of winning it all. i FUCKING can not cope with this loss right now.
and doesnt have the heart or the balls to move vlad. Remember, this is the same manager who started a 1 eyed player in the postseason, and also gave steve finley regular starts in the 2005 playoff failure.
besides, the only guy who would make a difference batting 4th, given how hard they have been hitting the ball this post season, is Kendrick. And that dude can;t even get regular starts, despite leading the team in ops for the 2nd half of the season. Must have been rad for him to see his platoon partner go 1/5 tonight and end the game on a physical and mental mistake.
1st he says he felt good about his alds performance, you know, the 0fer one
then tonight he says about the last play of the game -
"It hit my glove and kind of kicked off," Figgins said. "It’s one of those crazy things, that I was backing up but the ball slipped out of my hands."
yeah, it’s crazy to not be able to field the equivalent of a fucking grounder choke artist.
Angels let this guy walk, ESPECIALLY for the contract he will be looking for. He’s got basically zero leverage right about now, I dont care how many all star games he manages to not play in.
Im lookin forward to new scenery at third, maybe whoever is there will manage more than a walk in the postseason.
And they say things like – it only takes one run to win the game. I’m not saying we played good baseball, but these last 2 games could have been way worse than what they were.
I’m sick of hearing it from Dodger people. GO PHILLIES.
But Vlad needs to take some responsibility for leaving all those guys on base. I love him but I’m tired of making excuses for him and acting like his absence in the playoffs doesn’t bother me. 3 times he’s up with two or more men on base and he comes up with nothing. He has to do better. So do the rest but he needs to set the tone for once, not just be a lovable no show.
In the first two games, Lackey and Saunders have combined for a 2.85 ERA, striking out eight and walking four. The pitching staff overall has a 2.21 ERA in this series.
The team is losing because:
a 3-for-15 night Saturday with runners in scoring position, and stranding 16 runners on base – 11 from the seventh inning on.
Over the first two games of the series, the Angels are 4-for-18 with runners in scoring position and have stranded 21 men on base.
5 errors in the first two games of the series with the Yankees, and countless more mental mistakes. The disciplined, “cerebral” performances that has been the hallmark of Scoiscia-led teams have not been evident in the series with the Yankees. This Angels team is suddenly very tight and playing not to lose. “Embarrassed” is not too strong a sentiment for the Angels players to be feeling right now
Soth’s blind loyalty to Vlad in refusing to move him from batting 4th. He was a great player for many years, but the skills have clearly diminished. There’s no doubt he’ll still “wow” us all with the flashes of the younger Vlad, but in the post-season there’s not 162 games for the two or three “highlight reel” moments. Vlad needs to be batting 6th. How many times does Torii have to get intentionally walked or pitched-around before a change in the batting order is made?
Fuentes. Ugh. You have to throw garbage to Rodriguez on an 0-2 pitch, not a 90 MPH belt-high fastball with no movement. Has there ever been a time in MLB history where a player who led the majors in saves (48) was not only considered the biggest liability in the bullpen – but also the biggest liability on the entire pitching staff? Just another reason why SAVES is one of the most over-rated stats in baseball.
I like our chances for a big game three win from Weaver; the season will come down to game four with Kazmir facing Sabathia.
put kmo in the 4 hole and vladdy at the 1 hole, (he is a hellvu singles hitter in the post season) but we would need a pinch runner every time he gets on, Shit i dont know what to do w/him
Even though they played tough and didn’t miss by miss, I can’t help but feel like the Angels just got laughed out of the Bronx. This team is better than that. They could have won Friday, but they should have won last night. Instead they’re in an 0-2 hole against a very good team. They left their best chance—maybe their only chance—to get back into the series on the field with all those stranded runners, those silly errors, those sliders Vlad flailed at, and that crush-me fastball from Fuentes. Even that was an out anywhere else in America, which somehow makes it feel like an even bigger mistake.
What hurts is that you can move Vlad in the order, not let Fuentes pitch to right-handers, play airtight defense and even come up with some big hits, but it might not matter anymore. An 0-2 hole is an 0-2 hole, even going home for three games. The Angels have just worked too hard this year to blow another playoff run like this. I can come up with a thousand reasons why they deserved to at least have evened the series, but it’s academic at this point. They didn’t do it.
Ugh. I just woke up, but I need a drink already. It’s going to be a long wait for Game 3.
he was up in crucial situations and did not come through. If not for the hit and run, he would’ve hit into a DP in the 13th. There is sooooo much blame to cast around. It would be irresponsible to blame JUST Izzy or Vlade or Fuentes or Torii or Figgy. It was just bad all the way around.
I feel like 1-1 tie or even a 2-0 lead are so close I can taste them. Any team can dissapear for two games, and any team can get hot for a few. I still feel like over a long stretch of games the Angels will prove more resiliant. They have to play better of course, but I don’t think this bunch of ball players will accept a sweep, or have it forced upon them. And at this point I still am not giving the Yankees the nod as the better team. Angels in 7.
If I could take a pill to just make Vlad go away I would
During the regular season, even when he was doing great I can’t tell you how many times I said, “Wow, I can’t believe the pitcher was that stupid to throw him anything near the zone”. He’s not facing stupid pitchers in the playoffs and he hasn’t done nearly enough to force them to throw him strikes. When he takes a pitch, it’s because he decided in the on-deck circle or before the pitch that he was going to.
Kendrick hit 352 after the break. His sitting on the bench is a CRIME!
I wouldn’t start Figgins vs either Pettite or CC. His numbers against LHP are brutally bad. So bad that Q had better numbers against LHP. Also do you guys realize Maicer had a 475 OBP against Lefties granted only like 60 plate appearances, but he’s the one sitting against lefties?
If Monday’s doesn’t have Aybar, Kendrick and Izzy in it, then it is NOT the best one for the Angels, and sadly I think there is only about a 2% chance Soth will go with that.
HK, after coming back from AAA, has been one of the top hitters IN ALL OF BASEBALL.
I cant wrap my mind around this. The numbers are there, in front of sosh, this guy who supposedly will win a batting title, and is on his way to doing so, is sitting on the bench. I can’t fathom it. I really dont know what is going on?
and I think he should be the starter. But i’m really starting to warm up to Maicer. I was never really worried/mad about him coming up to bat… i was actually hopeful.
that being said, Howie should NOT be on the bench for the rest of the year. at all. period.
I give the second base umpire credit for making the right call on Aybar
I know I’m in the minority, but good for him. No matter what team you root for the neighborhood play is BS; and, in any case, Aybar wasn’t even in the neighborhood. It was blatant. Usually you get the neighborhood play when there’s at least an attempt to touch the bag or the timing of the touch up is slightly early or late. Aybar seemed to go out of his way to play hopscotch around the base and not touch it.
FOX said they went back at all the replays and Aybar touched the bag on every DP. Now, I haven’t looked myself, but it’s not as if the second baseman never touches touches the bag.
Joe Buck + Tim McCarver were railing on the umps for that call the whole time. Aybar did have time to hit the bag and still get Posada by 10 ft, but that play is an out all year long.
but I know in the past, they always called the phantom double play out during the season and have tightened the screws during the playoffs. It really didn’t hurt us. More irritating than anything.
he had been giving that call to the Yanks all night, but decided NOT to give it to Aybar? COME ON, that’s a joke. How often do you see 1st OR 2nd basement not touch the bag and still get the out? When will MLB FINALLY do something about these horrible calls?
i'm just sick this morning. i put the loss on Funetes, but we went ahead, i did not think we deserved to win the game because of all the wasted chances, but to groove an 0-2 pitch, come on!!
I still believe in Vlad. I truly believe he will come through big for us in this series and more then once. Make up for this horrible game 2. Damn that swing on strike 3 was ugly.I can live with strike 1 or 2 swing but not on 3. Hard to defend
Huh? I can’t for the life of me figure that one out. What did we ever do to the Chargers? lol! The two Rams games I’ve attended in San Diego both ended up favorable for the home team … silver platter edition, much in the way the Angels gifted the win for the Yankees yesterday.
you are right on. that murdering Bitch Georgia pushs her husband off a boat gets an NFL team, leaves LA for the money leaving us high and dry for 15 plus yrs
I can enjoy watching good games and performances still, but the Riders drain any fun for me. I need the Angels to last as long as possible. Lol I wish I can drop them as my team.
Should be a fun dual to watch. Then it’s short-rest CC against Kazmir, which should also be close to a push. Would Saunders start game 5 against Burnett?
its here and its going to be good weather for Lackey and we saw last night that the weather up there wnt affect Saundo soo yeahh….and that means Weavs for G7(if neccesary)
…because while Vlad and Fuentes are definitely the key goats of the game imo, it was after all Mathis who had the brain fart in calling that stupid 0-2 pitch. And Scoscia keeping Vlad batting fourth is just retarded. And also the Fox announcers’ insipid, shitty, annoying and generally pro-Yankees “analysis” really hurts my brain as well!
And I should include the final paragraph from that article...
“If the Angels want to win the World Series, they probably need to stop giving Fuentes so many high leverage opportunities. He’s not their best relief pitcher, even if he does lead the league in a remarkably meaningless statistic.”
Well, I think everyone here already knew that Jepsen was better, but unfortunately the Angels had already used him for two innings… :/
A world series victory erased the pains of 1982, 1986 and 1995. It also paid forward any pain I could feel for the Angels. I am a humbled and tamed man, thanks to the blessing that is 2002.
With that in mind, I am hoping to pick up a single ticket for the next two games, because my obnoxiously noisy lungs will be needed in this stadium. In spite of my humility, I am still passionate to the point of being rabid.
but come on, don’t give up yet! We have 3 games at the Big A, and we have a really GOOD chance of taking all of them. Do NOT throw in the towel. Do NOT give up the faith! This team has not come so far, fought so hard, and struggled through so much adversity this year to fold, and go quietly into the winter!!!
As for this series, if the real Angels show up its curtains for the Yankees. And if not, it’s curtains for the Angels. So this series comes down to a Tale of Two Curtains.
u guys will regroup tomorrow and beat up on pettitte
then u have to face sabbathia game 4
if u can beat him than your chances are very favorable in game 5
before u know it ur back in new york with the lead
i still think they can pull it off
they didnt come this far to fold….
I will never complain about any of the Angels announcers ever again!
TBS/Fox have sunk to new lows in baseball broadcasting. Even my 13 yr old son who watched the game with me thought they should have their baseball broadcasting license revoked. Tried turning off the TV sound, but delay between radio & tv feed was irritating too.
I need a big dose of Rex Hudler enthusiasm this morning..oh, uh wait, is that legal?? Ah, who cares-Rex, Angel fans need you! Tell us why the Angels are gonna turn this around!
but i was just in disbelief last night. I couldn’t believe what had happened. I closed my computer at the end of the game. But I was lucky my girl kept me company for the whole thing.
lol I went out after the game and a stupid broad put me in an even worse mood........
just by thinking she was smarter than me………which she was firmly and swiftly corrected on that point………
After that she tried to make her BF feel bad to re-pad her ego and I had to verbally bitch slap her some more……..which my friend enjoyed…….until he had to go home alone.
is all my buddies other friends bow down to her and give her everything she wants……but now since I’ve been kicking it with him shes all pissed off because I call her out on her BS and even now gotten him to recognizing it……….but I’ll be damned if I let one of my oldest buddies get berated for doing nothing wrong……….
i would much rather have Arod at second with Brett Freaking Gardner and Melky Freaking Cabrera…than Aroid with the bases loaded(we got out of that jam)
I hope Bobby comes out of his two game decline…he might have last night in the extra innings but he got the intentential walk every time he got up to bat. To go from five for nine with four walks in the ALDS to zero for nine in the first two games of the ALCS is a hell of a decline.
It feels like the Angels thought the job was done after beating the Sox. That loss HURT. Badly. I mean, I’m getting flashbacks to when the Sox owned us. They’re just letting opportunities slip through their fingers. Good God, what a horrible way to lose.
The Angels are coming home, they’re going to play in sunny So Cal, and we’ll be in the stands to cheer them on. Neither team has looked good so far, and the series could just as well have been 1-1 or 2-0. And we all wish it was – but so what?
What’s more difficult? Scoring three runs after making 26 outs and finding yourself trailing by two? Or winning four games after playing two poor games and finding yourself trailing by two? With the next three games in Anaheim, I’ll take the Angels to bust through door number two and head back to New York in the driver’s seat in this series.
Does anyone here believe the Angels would play like they did in games one and two with the series on the line in a potential game seven? Hell no! This team is different, and we will win with what we’ve got. There are a couple more flags to fly – which means there is baseball yet to play.
Nick will be watching over us from Center Field tomorrow. Let’s have some smiles on our faces for him, some positive thinking in our minds, and some faith in our hearts. Go Angels!
Although I am happy to be employed, I have no internet access, save for my slow-as-molasses cell phone that I can check between patients, if I get lucky. Can’t take the afternoon off—too broke. (See previous post dealing with multiple appliance failure/concurrent plumbing disaster) Game will be over by the time I am done with work. Gotta have confidence the Weav will be lights out tomorrow afternoon, and the bats will have thawed out from the cold.
@AlanFalcon—Thanks for reposting the 27 outs pic—we all need to see that right now!
how much good the red sox were to come back 3-0 to the Yankees in 04, 3-1 to the Indians in 07, and 3-1 to the rays last year to force a game 7. We can come back and break the hearts of Yankee fans.
Separates the optimists from the pessimists. The glass-half-full people see an 0-2 deficit as a potential glorious comeback, the glass-half-empty people see it as midway to a humiliating sweep. Whatever the outcome, one side will turn to the other and say, “I told you so.”
I like to think I’m practical about baseball, but maybe baseball reality is inherently pessimistic. Maybe I just like my surprised to be pleasant. Maybe I would rather admit to being wrong in case the Angels come back and win, because if it happens, I’ll be too pleased to care. Maybe it’s just an elaborate coping mechanism.
I’m still trying to decide if watching the NLCS tonight would make me feel better or worse. I could take some solace from watching the Dodgers experience a similarly agonizing extra-inning defeat. Whatever. For now, more alcohol.
>a few of them to get really pissed off on their crappy playing & pull their heads out
>a few of them to actually swing the bat instead of the ‘deer in headlights’ look from a ball that was pitched perfectly down the middle (wha? huh? a strike? I don’t believe it)
>get energized from the thousands of faithful fans cheering them on at home
No Pills Needed, Nothing is Needed to Numb Anything
The Halos have beat themselves in both games. The first game I will blame the weather……actually, the Angels players who allowed themselves to “think” about it too much. Just look at their hesitation to make any extra effort, like diving or the usual communicating on popflys…Oh and the constant reminders they have with thier camp snoopy headgear.
Game 2 was, like a failed to mention happened in game 1 as well…..too many runners left on base. And once again, the Halos Error beat themselves.
The Halos are as good or better than this years Yankees and this series should go 7 games. 6 at the very least. Anything less is a complete meltdown by the Angels.
I BELIEVE. The team still does not look tight and they will win the next 3 at home. THEY BETTER…
fuck

was there two errors on that play? one of izzy and one on figgins (bobble). but the play at home would have been close.

HAVE THEY NOT SEEN THE GODDAMNED BUNTS THAT FLY OUT TO RIGHT FOR HOMERUNS?
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - October 18, 2009
Come on man,
we had the whole game to do some damage. We cant blame this on one pitch. You dont expect to beat the Yankees with 3 runs do you?
SenorChuckles - October 18, 2009
frankly
i was surprised pitches 1 or 2 didn;t get bunted out into the right field seats.
but still, 0-2, that was a HORRIBLE pitch call.
At any rate, they could have won the game so many other times, can’t expect a pos closer like fuentes to be perfect.
I blame vlad, fuentes, figgins, izturis
in that order
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - October 18, 2009

no contract for figgy?
SenorChuckles - October 18, 2009
declining speed
inability to hit lefties
I don;t know if they take into account him having quite possibly, the worst playoff numbers in history for someone with over 100 at bats.
I’d let him walk as a 3rd baseman
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - October 18, 2009

Angels let this guy walk, ESPECIALLY for the contract he will be looking for. He’s got basically zero leverage right about now, I dont care how many all star games he manages to not play in.
Im lookin forward to new scenery at third, maybe whoever is there will manage more than a walk in the postseason.

me too
Had to hear it all morning long.
And they say things like – it only takes one run to win the game. I’m not saying we played good baseball, but these last 2 games could have been way worse than what they were.
I’m sick of hearing it from Dodger people. GO PHILLIES.

This was really a team loss ...
except for Saunders, not much to feel good about.
We fought them hard and long, in their house, and they took all our firepower and gave it right back. Tough loss.
LazorkoRules - October 18, 2009
I stayed with that game until 5.15 am, London time...
…and had to give up as my body finally betrayed me at the bottom of the 12th. Can’t believe I’m waking up to a loss. That’s fucking rubbish.
The Limey - October 18, 2009
Glad I felt like shit and decided not to wake up for the game
except now I feel like shit still, and we still lost
Seems like we’ve beaten ourselves rather than get beaten by the Yankees, but I still believe we’ll turn it around at the Big A
Matt UK - October 18, 2009
I hate to say this....
But Vlad needs to take some responsibility for leaving all those guys on base. I love him but I’m tired of making excuses for him and acting like his absence in the playoffs doesn’t bother me. 3 times he’s up with two or more men on base and he comes up with nothing. He has to do better. So do the rest but he needs to set the tone for once, not just be a lovable no show.
pbubba - October 18, 2009
Assessment
In the first two games, Lackey and Saunders have combined for a 2.85 ERA, striking out eight and walking four. The pitching staff overall has a 2.21 ERA in this series.
The team is losing because:
I like our chances for a big game three win from Weaver; the season will come down to game four with Kazmir facing Sabathia.
mustard_man - October 18, 2009
Great assessment
I agree with you 100%. Especially about the Vlad part
KingF15h - October 18, 2009
So who would bat 4th? K-Mo?
I would put swap Vlad and K-Mo spots in the order.
SenorChuckles - October 18, 2009
put kmo in the 4 hole and vladdy at the 1 hole, (he is a hellvu singles hitter in the post season) but we would need a pinch runner every time he gets on, Shit i dont know what to do w/him
salmonforever - October 18, 2009
Well.
im not comfortable with Juan in the 5th spot. Naploi hasn’t done anything, so maybe HK can get back in the order and take control.
SenorChuckles - October 18, 2009
100% correct

Rhere should be an option for both.
We had so many opporyunities to get a larger lead in extra innings. Why isn’t Torii getting some of the blame?
Bloody painful to end a game on a routine throw to 2B…
sothball - October 18, 2009
In my book, Torii is
he was up in crucial situations and did not come through.

HALOS
pbubba - October 18, 2009
MH252525 - October 18, 2009
HK, after coming back from AAA, has been one of the top hitters IN ALL OF BASEBALL.
I cant wrap my mind around this. The numbers are there, in front of sosh, this guy who supposedly will win a batting title, and is on his way to doing so, is sitting on the bench. I can’t fathom it. I really dont know what is going on?
clover_black - October 18, 2009
i love Howie as much as anyone
and I think he should be the starter. But i’m really starting to warm up to Maicer. I was never really worried/mad about him coming up to bat… i was actually hopeful.
that being said, Howie should NOT be on the bench for the rest of the year. at all. period.
howiestheman - October 18, 2009
To Vlad's credit
He did get that base hit in game 3 over Boston.
TheAntiSox - October 18, 2009
I give the second base umpire credit for making the right call on Aybar
I know I’m in the minority, but good for him. No matter what team you root for the neighborhood play is BS; and, in any case, Aybar wasn’t even in the neighborhood. It was blatant. Usually you get the neighborhood play when there’s at least an attempt to touch the bag or the timing of the touch up is slightly early or late. Aybar seemed to go out of his way to play hopscotch around the base and not touch it.
Good for the ump.
ChrisSimmsSpleen - October 18, 2009
The only thing that irritated me about it
was he made the neighborhood call all game and then all of a sudden out of the blue decides to call him safe. Doesn;t make sense to me.
angelskid2210 - October 18, 2009
Nope
FOX said they went back at all the replays and Aybar touched the bag on every DP. Now, I haven’t looked myself, but it’s not as if the second baseman never touches touches the bag.
ChrisSimmsSpleen - October 18, 2009
yeah some douche in the FOX truck said he reviewed them all
Suuuuuuure he did! And I’ve got a bridge to sell you
KingF15h - October 18, 2009
In their defense
Joe Buck + Tim McCarver were railing on the umps for that call the whole time. Aybar did have time to hit the bag and still get Posada by 10 ft, but that play is an out all year long.
Neo8234 - October 18, 2009
I didn't see the replay
but I know in the past, they always called the phantom double play out during the season and have tightened the screws during the playoffs. It really didn’t hurt us. More irritating than anything.
Moondoggy - October 18, 2009
too bad that the ump didn't make consistent calls
he had been giving that call to the Yanks all night, but decided NOT to give it to Aybar? COME ON, that’s a joke. How often do you see 1st OR 2nd basement not touch the bag and still get the out? When will MLB FINALLY do something about these horrible calls?
HalosFanInNorCal - October 18, 2009

A world series victory erased the pains of 1982, 1986 and 1995. It also paid forward any pain I could feel for the Angels. I am a humbled and tamed man, thanks to the blessing that is 2002.
With that in mind, I am hoping to pick up a single ticket for the next two games, because my obnoxiously noisy lungs will be needed in this stadium. In spite of my humility, I am still passionate to the point of being rabid.

…but I’m still in too much of a daze to do even that! :/
harrigan99 - October 18, 2009
i got lucky i had my girl with me
otherwise i would have been in a really bad mood
princeton11loveshalos - October 18, 2009
Princeton,
Did you drink like crazy last night?
Figgi4life - October 18, 2009 via mobile
i played a couple games of pong
but i was just in disbelief last night. I couldn’t believe what had happened. I closed my computer at the end of the game. But I was lucky my girl kept me company for the whole thing.
princeton11loveshalos - October 18, 2009
lol I went out after the game and a stupid broad put me in an even worse mood........
just by thinking she was smarter than me………which she was firmly and swiftly corrected on that point………
After that she tried to make her BF feel bad to re-pad her ego and I had to verbally bitch slap her some more……..which my friend enjoyed…….until he had to go home alone.
lol.
norcaliangelsfan - October 18, 2009
yeah that is what we call in the business
a bitch
princeton11loveshalos - October 18, 2009
yeah worse part about her......
is all my buddies other friends bow down to her and give her everything she wants……but now since I’ve been kicking it with him shes all pissed off because I call her out on her BS and even now gotten him to recognizing it……….but I’ll be damned if I let one of my oldest buddies get berated for doing nothing wrong……….
norcaliangelsfan - October 18, 2009
good man dude
last thing you want is your friend going out with a bitch
princeton11loveshalos - October 18, 2009
It dont matter......he's not gonna leave her.......
but damn if Im gonna put up with her shit without calling her out on it.
norcaliangelsfan - October 18, 2009
wait i got a question? anyone feel free to answer
why not walk Aroid? i mean at that point Matsui was already out and a nobody was behind him
Angels_48 - October 18, 2009
We scared of
Joel Guzman and Brett Gardner
ryanfea - October 18, 2009
you DO NOT in any circumstances put the leadoff guy on in extra innings intentionally.....I dont care if its BABE RUTH.
walking him there……they bunt him over……and then a lousy broken bat floater over Aybar’s head wins them the game…….
Make them earn it……….unfortunately thanks to a horrible pitch location and a good hitter…….he earned it.
norcaliangelsfan - October 18, 2009
wasn't it 2 outs when a rod was up?
clover_black - October 18, 2009
Nope
He lead off
Figgi4life - October 18, 2009 via mobile
oh... irish whiskey clouded my recollection of that inning...
clover_black - October 18, 2009
nah he was leading off
Angels_48 - October 18, 2009
if it was 2 outs then yes thats a no-brainer.......
but totally not the case.
norcaliangelsfan - October 18, 2009
look at it this way
i would much rather have Arod at second with Brett Freaking Gardner and Melky Freaking Cabrera…than Aroid with the bases loaded(we got out of that jam)
Angels_48 - October 18, 2009
yeah but whats more likely to happen.....
a homerun or a broken bat single?
the percentages just dont agree with this theory.
norcaliangelsfan - October 18, 2009
not a good idea to walk the leadoff man in the start of an inning
shaqfor3 - October 18, 2009
since he was the leadoff man
no one was on base
so it would make sense to get him over with rather than walking him
and even if he hit a home run, the damage is limited to that….
shaqfor3 - October 18, 2009
because he could have scored anyway
bunt. single, sac fly = he scores
Halos in DE - October 18, 2009
C'mon Bobby we need you!
I hope Bobby comes out of his two game decline…he might have last night in the extra innings but he got the intentential walk every time he got up to bat. To go from five for nine with four walks in the ALDS to zero for nine in the first two games of the ALCS is a hell of a decline.
kbrown - October 18, 2009
Goddamnit
It feels like the Angels thought the job was done after beating the Sox. That loss HURT. Badly. I mean, I’m getting flashbacks to when the Sox owned us. They’re just letting opportunities slip through their fingers. Good God, what a horrible way to lose.
moosemastr - October 18, 2009
It hurts, bad, but I would take no such pill.
Go Angels!
AlanFalcon - October 18, 2009
In fact, I'm so ready for Game 3 I just bought myself a ticket on StubHub.
V522, Row A, Seat 11. I’ll be there to cheer on my boys to victory.
AlanFalcon - October 18, 2009
Make friends with the usher before the game begins
you will need them to make people keep moving along fast or your view will be blocked.
Rev Halofan - October 18, 2009
Thanks for the advice.
I might be too pumped up to stay in my seat though.
AlanFalcon - October 18, 2009 via mobile
right on!!
salmonforever - October 18, 2009
Pissed? Yes. Still an Angels fan? Yes.
Woke up, put on my #9 Figgins t-shirt and headed out the door…
FUCK.
3rd Echelon - October 18, 2009
Bummed about the early start time for tomorrow...
@AlanFalcon—Thanks for reposting the 27 outs pic—we all need to see that right now!
hbhalofan - October 18, 2009
This makes me realize...
how much good the red sox were to come back 3-0 to the Yankees in 04, 3-1 to the Indians in 07, and 3-1 to the rays last year to force a game 7. We can come back and break the hearts of Yankee fans.

we all need to just watch and rewatch that movie all day today.
It’s NOT over.

you know
SHITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! – “another one bites the dust,”
and as Joe Swanson says “Let’s get it on.” And in every Adam Sandler movie “You can doooooooooo it” Halos. “Use the hips”
Halos in DE - October 18, 2009
I guess a game like that one
Suboptimal - October 18, 2009
I'm usually an optimist
But the reality of facing Sabathia again is making me nervous. I’ll try not to think about it anymore. lol
NJinHB - October 18, 2009 via mobile
CC isn't invulnerable.
The Angles lost Game 1 because of their horrible play, not exclusively because of CC’s pitching. The team just didn’t show up to play that night.
HalosFanInNorCal - October 18, 2009
I'm hoping for a fast thaw from the frigid East
>a few of them to get really pissed off on their crappy playing & pull their heads out
>a few of them to actually swing the bat instead of the ‘deer in headlights’ look from a ball that was pitched perfectly down the middle (wha? huh? a strike? I don’t believe it)
>get energized from the thousands of faithful fans cheering them on at home
and WIN!!!!
I STILL BELIEVE!!!!
ladybug - October 18, 2009
WELL SAID!!!
need to cheer for the Angels at the top of our lungs tomorrow!!
HalosFanInNorCal - October 18, 2009
I still believe too.
GO ANGELS.
angelsfan777 - October 18, 2009
Angels 4 ever, 4 ever Angels!!!!!
peteyweestro - October 18, 2009
