While We wait to see if the rain will force a delay in the ALCS, be sure to read the Baseball Analysts ALCS Smackdown between Rich Lederer (the most knowledgable, articulate Angels fan this side of Matt Welch) and Jeremy Green, a Yankees partisan.
ADDED: The Monkey w/ A Halo Blog interviewed a Yankees blogger if you are looking for something to read between now and the first pitch...

If you want official rain-related game notifications...
http://twitter.com/YankeesWeather
This is the Yankees official Twitter feed for weather. Currently, gates scheduled to open on time today.
AlanFalcon - October 16, 2009
that page is full of contradictions
Higz - October 16, 2009
Gah
Sorry, I didn’t look at the dates. I thought the tweeter was insane or something
move along please
Higz - October 16, 2009
I did the same thing!
firebird81 - October 16, 2009
beanies
Anyone know where to get the official knit cap, modeled by Jered Weaver?
cath619 - October 16, 2009
the red ones w/blue trim?
if so I have a couple brand new ones
figgifig - October 16, 2009
yeah
how? and how do i find one?
cath619 - October 16, 2009
Hey Rev! Did you see that Mike diGiovanna picked the Angels in 7?
opiejeanne - October 16, 2009
Any chance they move up the start time?
Looks like the rain might not start until after 6 eastern.
ReggieBullits - October 16, 2009
Not a chance in NYC.
AlanFalcon - October 16, 2009
Unfortunately no
This would blow up the TV schedule, and of course we can’t have that (even though having the game delayed will blow up the schedule even worse). Baseball has never managed these things well. Think up the least logical response to these situations (i.e. waiting and playing the game at its normal scheduled time despite the weather reports) and there’s a 99% chance MLB will take that course of action.
Gorbachav5 - October 16, 2009
That's what I thought.
ReggieBullits - October 16, 2009
precisely
hey clear skies!!! oh wait… nevermind
Brian S (brianguy) - October 16, 2009
Or to paraphrase...
There’s a Right Way, a Wrong Way, and the MLB Way.
red floyd - October 16, 2009
any relation to Howard Lederer
makes you wonder.
Brian S (brianguy) - October 16, 2009
Great smackdown!
Very entertaining. Well done, Rich and Jeremy!
yeswecan - October 16, 2009
somewhere, a 70 million dollar retractible roof is laughing.
clover_black - October 16, 2009
And next year it will continue to laugh at Minnesota.
Honestly, what are they thinking?
opiejeanne - October 16, 2009
MLB.com
seems to think were playing the Phillies in the NLCS. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/homepage/narrowband.jsp
ryanfea - October 16, 2009
That's pretty bad.
opiejeanne - October 16, 2009
All that money they spent on a new stadium...
and it doesn’t even come with a roof? Weak!
It’s 85 degrees and sunny here in SoCal. Baseball weather indeed.
3rd Echelon - October 16, 2009
This weather is anti-climatic. (sic)
Seriously, is it time yet? Is it time for the game yet? Ohboyohboyohboyohboy! Can hardly wait.
opiejeanne - October 16, 2009
I wish...
All this weather talk makes me wish I were home in SoCal right now, not in New York. :( (I did by my ticket for THX today, though!)
cath619 - October 16, 2009
that settles it........
The next 4 games at the Big A…………best record be damned…..LOL.
norcaliangelsfan - October 16, 2009
Wow, Lederer with some uncharacteristic smack!
mattwelch - October 16, 2009
Who?
Kurkijian?
Clutch - October 16, 2009
McCarver.
Downing Rules - October 16, 2009
Wait, wait... this isn't the Verbivore Richard Lederer, right?
AlanFalcon - October 16, 2009
If I have to wait another day to watch the Halos
I’m gonna be so pissed!!! Fuck the RAin!!

A.L.C.S. Weather Update: Outlook Improved
cath619 - October 16, 2009
on the other hand,
reporter thinks first pitch is at 7:30. so who knows…
cath619 - October 16, 2009
ACCORDING TO THE REGISTERS MARK WHICKER
IT IS DRY RIGHT NOW IN THE BRONX THO IT IS CLOUDY……ITS A 10 PERCENT CHANCE OF RAIN UNTIL 10 PM THEN IT GOES UP TO 60….
Angels_48 - October 16, 2009
Ouch. You used the W word. ALL CAPS
Higz - October 16, 2009
ALL CAPS
works 60% of the time, all the time.
SenorChuckles - October 16, 2009
That...doesn't make any logical sense.
Clutch - October 16, 2009
Anchorman quote my friend.
SenorChuckles - October 16, 2009
I think his response was, too.
snowhor - October 16, 2009
Yeah, fail--you didn't get the reference?
I was afraid that would happen… :-D
Clutch - October 16, 2009
Whale's $#gina
Downing Rules - October 16, 2009
nope, sounded like a typical response to me.
:(
SenorChuckles - October 16, 2009
actually
it makes perfect sense. If a player gets on base 6 out of ten times every time for their entire career….then they get on base 60% of the time, 100% of the time…aka 60% of the time, all the time.
I guess.
dr-awkward - October 16, 2009
Again, Anchorman quote
But yes, I suppose that does kind of make kind of sense?
Clutch - October 16, 2009
10 percent chance of rain with a 75 percent chance of rape?
clover_black - October 16, 2009
I'm from southern California,
Does a nor’ easter have anything to do with colored eggs and bunnies?
44FAN - October 16, 2009
Ha!
Clutch - October 16, 2009
I wouldn't mind
If they only got four innings in before getting rained out. That would get Sabathia out of the game early, and the Angels could still put Ervin Santana out there when play resumes. I’d like me some Chad Gaudin.
Suboptimal - October 16, 2009
I will be at work during game time.
LETS GO HALOS!!! LETS GO HALOS!!! LETS GO HALOS!!! LETS GO HALOS!!! LETS GO HALOS!!!

eyespy - October 16, 2009
Sweet. So you drew the little guy, too?
Clutch - October 16, 2009
Copy and paste,
with a few deletions here and there. Add something, adjust over there, and wallah.

there's a radar map on weather.com
Using the “future” setting it shows nothing hitting NY before 10pm.
Fred Fredrix - October 16, 2009
So we might get 5 innings in today.
angelskid2210 - October 16, 2009 via mobile
Hooray!
Clutch - October 16, 2009
While we're on the topic, kind of
For you Bruin types, I’ll be in O’Haras or Brewco for most of game time if it happens.
Clutch - October 16, 2009
I just looked at this...
http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/sports/hourbyhour/graph/36410:20
It looks good for a game. Cold but good chance of no rain. The baseball gods want us to play.

Hopefully they agree with us on who should emerge victorious!
norcaliangelsfan - October 16, 2009
