Blame of the Game: Joe Saunders
Injuries: Howie Kendrick-day to day with a tight hammy. Erick Aybar-day to day with a tight hammy. Props to Juan Rivera for playing 2nd base tonight.
The Mariners have officially been eliminated.
Also of note, before todays game, the rumour was that the Angels were looking to pick up another middle infielder. With Howie and Erick going day to day mode, one has to assume that the Ninja is going to have to make a move.

anaheim angels - August 27, 2008
You may and you have
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
No Brainer
Joe Saunders
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
blah blah blah blah blah
this sucked.
NoDakHalo - August 27, 2008
deserved
Mariners eliminated? Wait, I thought they won the division?
yeswecan - August 27, 2008
ahhhhh
that NEVER gets old!!
howiestheman - August 27, 2008
I love it!
I will always loathe the Mariners for 1995 and will always remember when a bunch of their obnoxious fans would came to the Big A and make it sound like a M’s home game back in the late 90s.
stolenbases - August 28, 2008
Better add possible injury to insult vis a vis Saunders...
barehanded bonehead attempt…
K3YEROUT - August 27, 2008
Hudler already talking about the need for the Angels to go down to Columbus ??????
I think Hud is back in Yankee land.
He mentioned a bunch of big league SS though
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
Hud smokin' again?
Did he ever stop?
K3YEROUT - August 27, 2008
I hope he never stops!
TheTypingFiend - August 27, 2008
We Want Eck
AnaheimHalos61 - August 27, 2008
Does that 9 year old kid play middle infield at all?
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
he does, but his agent is scot boras :(
anaheim angels - August 27, 2008
Damn It!!
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
i think it's a VERY good possibilty that we get a SS/2B
but unfortunately, none of them have cleared waivers (that i know of)
this could get interesting…. i sure hope Howie and Aybar aren’t out for more than a week or so.
until then, let’s hope Wood can continue to RAKE
howiestheman - August 27, 2008
The other problem is that any AL team not named the Rays could block us from acquiring someone.
Zu Long - August 27, 2008
Well
there’s a guy down at AAA who’s currently sporting a .298/.376/.599 line, with 31 HRs. He also happens to play shortstop.
jjackflash - August 27, 2008
trust me
i KNOW!
i don’t know if he’ll get the call, though. the only way he does is if we option Willits down
howiestheman - August 27, 2008
Or put someone else on the DL...
Zu Long - August 27, 2008
Or
if someone has to be DL’ed.
Loux is a candidate.
jjackflash - August 27, 2008
for SLC
that is.
jjackflash - August 27, 2008
need to BP depth
i doubt Loux is leaving
howiestheman - August 27, 2008
Not pretty
Some serious issues. Long night for management……..Sosh is going to be sleeping in the clubhouse tonight
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
Send down Bulger for four days.
Rosters expand in 4 days anyways.
red floyd - August 28, 2008
New line up
Figgy 2B
Torri CF
Tex 3B
Vlad RF
GA DH
JR 1B
GMJ LF
Naps C
S-Rod SS
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
Nah
No need to put anyone besides Figgins at 3B.
Figgins 3B
Hunter CF
Teix 1B
Vlad RF/DH
GA LF/DH
Rivera DH/LF/RF
Napoli C
Wood SS
Rodriguez 2B
jjackflash - August 27, 2008
Have to DL someone then
Who is going on the DL that quickly? No pitcher is going to be sent down right now. They just sent down Bulger when Willits was activated.
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
I hadn't
heard that Willits was activated, but no matter. Loux isn’t going to pitch again for a few more days. He goes down, Wood comes up.
jjackflash - August 27, 2008
Can't afford to send pitchers down right now
Texas will get into the pen I am sure.
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
yup
send down Willits. new lineup becomes:
Figgins 3B
Torii CF
Teix 1B
Vlad RF
GA DH
Rivera LF
Napoli C
Wood SS
SRod 2B
howiestheman - August 27, 2008
Agree that there is no reason for 18 OF on the roster
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
fine then
Figgins 2b
Quinlan 3b
Teix 1B
Vlad RF/DH
Hunter CF
GA LF/DH
Rivera DH/LF/RF
Napoli C
Rodriguez SS
No way Teix plays 3B. And Quinlan plays over GMJr.
jjackflash - August 27, 2008
Tex started out at 3rd base played there in college and in the minors and majors
Blalock needed to play so Tex went to 1B. No chance JR plays 2B ………wait that just happened
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
that's
something I never thought I’d see, that’s for sure. Rivera at 2B, that is. So, anything’s possible. Still, Teix hasn’t played 3B in years. Quinlan has. No reason to mess with Teixeira when there is another competent 3B on the active roster.
And if anyone (Aybar or Kendrick) is headed to the DL, then we’ll see Wood.
jjackflash - August 27, 2008
Like to see some sort of current MLB player up the middle
just feel that the team is going to struggle up the middle with SLC there. Can’t have them making outs on offense and giving them away on D
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
Isn't Figgins still playing up the middle in that setup?
The only difference from your lineup is that Q plays third and Teix plays first, rather than GMJ in the lineup.
Zu Long - August 27, 2008
Yeah he does
Just looking for other variables with out taking Wood out of SLC

Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
I say we DH howie
give him a rest and make sure nothing happens to that hammy
anaheim angels - August 28, 2008
More Rivers at 2b?! :P
K3YEROUT - August 27, 2008
Golden Glove
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
Well
You could put Rivers at first, Tex at third, then have Wood at short and S-Rod at second. Except wait, then you wouldn’t have to do the Tex/Rivvy switcheroo..
Clutch - August 27, 2008
Stop me when you've heard this one before...
Jose Guillen is up to his usual antics. When will GM’s stop paying this guy money and tell him to just go away?
“It’s an unfortunate incident, and we continue to work with Jose about staying focused on the field,” Moore said.
LOL
K3YEROUT - August 27, 2008
If he was hitting .220 with no power then he would not be playing but he might be the best player in KC
He is getting close to the .220
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
Dang, it always seems like a bunch of Halos get injured as it gets closer and closer to playoff time
I don’t want to see S-Rod, Wood, or Q starting in the playoffs.
stolenbases - August 27, 2008
Well let's hope
We can get Wood the ABs and the experience NOW that he needs to get comfortable—that way on a worst-case basis he starts in the playoffs good and READY.
Now’s the time to prepare for playoff injuries…
Clutch - August 27, 2008
If Hunter doesn't snap out of it
It could be rough. His offensive play was soooo key to our big run. Here’s to hopin’ it starts clicking for him again. His power and consistancy is needed.
vladtheimpaler - August 28, 2008
I'm not giving him BOTG, I'm just sayin'
vladtheimpaler - August 28, 2008
he'll snap out of it
yeswecan - August 28, 2008
How About
Figgins – 2B
Vlad – RF
Tex – 3B
Hunter – CF
GA – DH
Rivera – LF
Morales – 1B
Napoli – C
Wood – SS
Put Aybar and HK on the 7 day DL……This gives the Angles 7 straight days of Wood to see where he’s at. Gives Morales more experience in the Bigs just in case GA gets pink eye and is out for the playoffs again.
acuda27 - August 28, 2008
i thought the 7 day DL was for minors only?
anyway, i say we put HK on the 15 day DL to make sure he gets good and healthy because with maicer gone he is the only person i have confidence can hit well in the two spot (aybars low OBP is not gonna score any runs). Call up Wood. so wed have…
C-Naps/Mathis
1b-Tex
2b-s-rod
ss-wood
3b-Figgy
LF-GA
CF-Torii
RF-Juan
DH-Vlad
and a lineup of
figgy, wood (to get him ABs, and no other player really is a top of the order guy), tex, vlad, Ga, Torii, Juan, Naps, SRod
anaheim angels - August 28, 2008
Yes, but how long is Figgins going to be out?
stolenbases - August 28, 2008
im not sure, but we could always sub in Q for him for a bit
anaheim angels - August 28, 2008
The night from hell.
Why are we the hammy team? C’mon! 2 in one night? What’s next? Pink eye? Howiestheman’s lineup will have to do for now.
Rally Manatee - August 28, 2008
Seriously....Even I (A FAN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD) tweaked my Hammy while going 1st to 3rd
a few weeks ago…….but I was back in the lineup the following week (still felt some pain at times).
acuda27 - August 28, 2008
Turn the page...
Downing Rules - August 28, 2008
Positive Spin:
HEY EVERYONE….Garret Anderson got a TRIPLE!
I didn’t see the play…was on a center-field “dippin’ dots” run for the rug-rats.
Downing Rules - August 28, 2008
scottnak - August 28, 2008
thats sick
i was the only one with two!!!!!!
WillGoAngels27 - August 28, 2008
gotta say
i disagree with the blame call.
juan rivera swung at 5 straight balls, when ziegler had just walked quinlan in four straight pitches, grounding into a rally ending double play.
The hitters had every opportunity to turn it around so saunders cant be blamed.
