both ways…no way you should have this many walks in a major league game! Inconsistent on the low end of the zone and absolutely nothing above the belt! Must have forgotten his contact lenses! Paul Schrieber to be exact…horrible!
Thinking forward into the future…trying to cope with the fact that someday our beloved manager will go into the clubhouse for good.
That’s probably a good 20 years or so into the future, but in moments like ejections, etc., and seeing someone else “manage” the team for a bit makes me think of these things!
Chone Figgins was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup with a sore left big toe.
Officially diagnosed as an “irritation” according to a team spokesman, Figgins was examined by Dr. Ronald Glousman at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic, where X-rays proved normal.
The Angels third baseman sustained the injury during a rundown in Tuesday’s 5-1 win over the Athletics and is listed as day-to-day.
“It is tough for him to push off, so if Figgy can’t run there is a big part out of what he can bring,” manager Mike Scioscia said. “So we need him to get to a level to where he can do some of the things he needs to do out on the field. We’re going to give him today and see if it doesn’t respond to the level that we anticipate.”
Sergeant Hulka is always gonna be here to be that big toe for us. I think that we owe a big round of applause to our newest, bestest buddy, and big toe… Sergeant Hulka.

We NEED home field advantage with the way other teams play on the road
we’ve looked GODAWFUL for more than 2 weeks now, our first-half ace is getting shelled, our players are dropping like flies…it’s insane how far we’ve gone in two weeks. And, among other things, we’ve lost our 100 win pace significantly (more trivial than the other things, but still annoying since the pace went from 104 to 97 games in TWELVE DAYS).
Or you can just allow us to act as frustrated and upset as we have been
since, you know, it’s fairly well warranted at this point. No one here is concerned about the division. No one has been for a while. But the team is listless as fuck, and we’re acting accordingly. What’s not to get?
What's not to get is that it's two bad weeks in August
and we’re still only a half game back of the league lead in wins. Further, it’s not exactly like we’ve been getting dominated:
10-7, 3-2 ,4-3, 6-4, 4-2, 2-1, 9-0, 2-1, 6-5. These are the scores of our losses in that time. With one exception, they were close games that we had a chance at winning.
Personally, I take heart from the fact that even with us scuffling as badly as we have been, we’re still only losing squeakers. If we were losing by 3-4 runs every game, or getting blown out constantly, then yeah, we might be in trouble. But we aren’t. Instead, even during one of our lowest ebbs this season, other teams can only BARELY beat us.
Personally, I welcome the injuries now. Let us find out who’s tired and weary and breaking down, and if necessary, we can damn well shut them down for the first two weeks of September and let the AAA guys play. It’s way better than having everything collapse on us with a week to go like last year.
I want home field advantage as badly as anybody (in fact I’m pretty sure I pointed out the incentive of playing for HFA to you two days ago) but health takes priority. It has been health, more than anything else these past three playoff gambits, that has killed us.
Team plays well: we all are happy.
Team plays poorly: we are not, and act accordingly, especially with important factors (health AND home field on the line)
That’s all that’s going on. I’m not saying the sky is falling (and I’ve told the “1995ers” to shut up plenty). I just don’t know how else you want someone to act when their team plays poorly. That simple.
damn overtime, it looks like ive been missing a good game...

TheTypingFiend - August 27, 2008
sore toe

howiestheman - August 27, 2008

13 LOB
After your bullpen gives you 7 shutout. That’s unfortunate.
ReggieBullits - August 27, 2008
No.
That’s bad.
infant - August 27, 2008
We just lost a series to the A's.
Mayheminthehood - August 27, 2008
That's worse.
infant - August 27, 2008
and blew our bullpen in the process
K3YEROUT - August 27, 2008
Angels lose another series and the line up
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
So the A's had dropped 12 straight series
what’s the cure? Facing us, of course.
Baseball blows. We blew this game so damn badly. 14 LOB.
Caseys Kiss of Death - August 27, 2008
Yeah but someone is sure to mention how the team is XXX amount of games in first
WHO CARES…………There are issues with the team. There are 15 teams in MLB I think that would be in 1st place in the AL West
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
If we're still in it, then there are only two.
Zu Long - August 27, 2008
HUH???
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
If we're in still in the division, there are only two other teams in baseball taht would be in first place.
Zu Long - August 27, 2008
Point is the division stinks and if 15 other teams took their record into the AL West they would be in 1st also
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
My point is for that to be true, we'd have to leave first.
We’re shy of the best record in our league by all of a half game right now.
Zu Long - August 27, 2008
No shit
but my statement is true. Sad sack AL West spots us those type wins as well. Think TB would fall if they played the AL West 19 times a season?
Angel Aviator - August 27, 2008
Given our records against the other AL East teams,
I’d welcome the switch if they wanted it.
Zu Long - August 27, 2008
We NEED home field advantage with the way other teams play on the road
we’ve looked GODAWFUL for more than 2 weeks now, our first-half ace is getting shelled, our players are dropping like flies…it’s insane how far we’ve gone in two weeks. And, among other things, we’ve lost our 100 win pace significantly (more trivial than the other things, but still annoying since the pace went from 104 to 97 games in TWELVE DAYS).
Caseys Kiss of Death - August 27, 2008
Well nuts, I guess there's nothing to do but shit our pants and panic.
Zu Long - August 27, 2008
Or you can just allow us to act as frustrated and upset as we have been
since, you know, it’s fairly well warranted at this point. No one here is concerned about the division. No one has been for a while. But the team is listless as fuck, and we’re acting accordingly. What’s not to get?
Caseys Kiss of Death - August 27, 2008
Zu Long - August 28, 2008
Lemme break it down
Team plays well: we all are happy.
Caseys Kiss of Death - August 28, 2008
29 men LOB
that’s… just awful.
shiftyeyedgoat - August 27, 2008

If no one here can laugh at a joke, maybe I won’t make any!
I’ll find another Angels site where bad jokes are appreciated.
