Blame of the Game: Gary Matthews Junior
On a night when the baserunners let us all down, Gary grounded into a double play, struck out and overran a ball that allowed the eventual go-ahead run to get to third base. At least we have a bajillionteen game lead and Vlad rested those knees...

BOTG
Anyone that picked up a bat that had a halo on their helmet.
Doctor Wu - August 25, 2008
any offensive player really
But Weaver’s wild pitch was the deciding factor, too… tough call
Chone's Chonies - August 25, 2008
But the guy still only gave up 2 runs.
So not Weav.
TheTypingFiend - August 25, 2008
Figgy or GMJ
infant - August 25, 2008
not figgy, he had 2 hits tonight
although he had a poor nite on the bases
Chone's Chonies - August 25, 2008
Had he not messed up on the bases
We’d have a 1-0 game in the 1st.
infant - August 25, 2008
and we'd be in extras right now
howiestheman - August 25, 2008
woulda coulda shoulda
GMJ
ladybug - August 25, 2008

howiestheman - August 25, 2008

Chone's Chonies - August 25, 2008

howiestheman - August 25, 2008
wouldn't that be awesome?
infant - August 25, 2008
What a family you'd have!
TheTypingFiend - August 25, 2008
Janet Reno?
PieceOfAase - August 26, 2008
isn't it funny
that Gary went from panther nomination to blame of the game nomination in just over 24 hours.
UCIHalo - August 25, 2008
not funny
pathetic.
howiestheman - August 25, 2008
If only he'd played last night's game tonight
I think he’d have it all sewn up.
TheTypingFiend - August 25, 2008
Yeah, Figgy or GMJ
GMJ sucks, and Figgy had some bonehead base running errors
howiestheman - August 25, 2008
Rev's T-shirt
err, uh…I mean GMJ
Caseys Kiss of Death - August 25, 2008
I'd say Figgy
getting thrown out twice in a system that needs baserunners is simply unacceptable.
Ugh…
shiftyeyedgoat - August 25, 2008
Especially if your supposed to be the On Base Man
TheTypingFiend - August 25, 2008
that wall color
ladybug - August 25, 2008

GMJ
Positives Today in AAA
Morales 2-4 with a Double, Run, RBI, IBB
Wood 2-4 with a HR
acuda27 - August 25, 2008
Wood actually went 3-4
so that should make you even happier
howiestheman - August 25, 2008
Rivera
it’s too late in the season to be batting .241
yeswecan - August 25, 2008
Tell that to our catchers
TheTypingFiend - August 25, 2008
he's been playing half the season
give the guy a break.
howiestheman - August 25, 2008
ah just give it to torii
he has been so boring lately
UCIHalo - August 25, 2008
Torii who...?
is there someone on our team named Torii?
K3YEROUT - August 26, 2008
Really nobody....
Except the offense. I guess I’d have to give it to Figgy for 2 baserunning errors.
On the plus side, Just Insipid pitched well, and so did Bulger.

The Downward Speier had an upward night.
Rally Manatee - August 25, 2008
I've been absent for a few days...
but if you came up with that nickname you are my new favorite HHer!
Higz - August 26, 2008
Why thank you. I am proud to say I did.
Rally Manatee - August 26, 2008
Scoscia
GMJ and Quinlan in the same lineup and neither is hitting 9th?
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - August 25, 2008
Agreed
And Vlad NOT in the lineup. I know we’re not supposed to give it to the skipper, but c’mon! And all this after the main page posted an article saying “Angels not looking past A’s.” Why the suck-ass line up then?
Rally Manatee - August 25, 2008
Give it to whoever put GMJ and Q in the lineup.
They have so much better options than either of them. S-Rod, Wood, Willits, Morales all have much much much higher upside than Q or GMJ and need abs.
MH252525 - August 25, 2008
I thought K Mo got sent back down to bring up The Big Bulge.
Rally Manatee - August 25, 2008
he did
but Wood is down in AAA too… i think his point is that our young guys would benefit a lot more from playing time than our crappy guys.
howiestheman - August 25, 2008
GMJ
He cant let that ball get past him in the OF, Fatty doesnt get to third and Weavers wild thing impression is irrelevant
Sinatrasratpack - August 25, 2008
i blame figgy
gmj didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. he actually got one hit.
NoDakHalo - August 26, 2008
E-5 in my book...
you can call it a hit if it makes you sleep better at night…apparently it works for the official scorer!
K3YEROUT - August 26, 2008
Figgy
GMJ gets a pass because he’s always this terrible and we have to learn to deal with that. Also, he shouldda been pather day before yesterday. The baserunning was terrible. I don’t care if he got two hits, Figgy- BOTG.

WHO CARES ABOUT WHAT LEAD WE HAVE IN THE DIVISION!?!?! THE RACE FOR HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE IS THE ONLY RACE THAT MATTERS ANYMORE!!!
hk47 - August 26, 2008
very myspaceescobar-ish of me...
my apologies…
hk47 - August 26, 2008
If he can not play D GMJ needs to blow his knee out and go away
He can’t do anything right.
hauldog - August 26, 2008
...something tells me that BWood could play the OF as well as HGH Jr...
just a suspicion…no proof!
K3YEROUT - August 26, 2008
If I ever do not see that shot of Mat in that shirt...
