Funny how SHIFTY is patient, inquisitive and polite (and not a dick) when he is not in the inside…
The picture is of a dude (the guy on the right) standing next to greatness before anyone else knows, being THATCLOSE to monumental geatness and probably not even knowing it, but experieinceing it closest, first and freshest.
The picture speaks to the feeling that as a fan we can be with greatness but will always be on the side of the photo, and that is okay – just to be this close to a great team – to have followed them from the start as well – that all should be enough for all of us.
(and you all thought I was lyin when I said my day job was as an art critic)
but did not feel the need to comment on it due to the Theo Epstein thing and the Sox series being so close run. There are lots of times when you choose to comment or not, and I just thought my comment wouldn’t be understood by most. Sorry Rev
The pic was taken at a wedding reception at the home of Paul’s “Auntie Jin”, in Dinah’s Lane, Liverpool in the summer of 1958. The band were still called The Quarry Men, and were still apparently playing weddings!
Went you started a new thread, I could no longer stay on Halos Heaven using internet explorer. It would come up, then I would get a message saying something to the effect that “internet explorer can’t access/error blah blah” and it would shut down. Tried turning off firewall etc etc and nothing works.
I downloaded firefox and can now get on the site fine, but when I try explorer the same thing happens.
I have had problems with both Firefox and Safari, but I switch back and forth, usually one works if the other does'nt want too.
Manny Ramirez grounded out to the second baseman in his Dodger debut. The Dodger fans stood on their feet for his at bat so the pee would just run down their leg.
I think it was a huge mistake for Reagins not to go out and acquire that big bat to protect Vlad. We wouldn’t get shutout for 7 innings by Sidney Ponson if we’d gotten someone who could produce offensively at the trade deadline. This is a bad sign for the playoffs, if we can’t score off Ponson how are we going to it against Josh Beckett and Jon Lester blah blah blah ad nauseum etc.
(/sarcasm)
Sorry, this really isn’t directed at anyone in particular, just years of banging my head on a desk when people would tell me that getting another big bat would keep us from having bad nights offensively, especially against bad pitchers.
a huge game!!!
freaking angels keep rolling!!

Ervin by a mile!
8 scoreless innings and 8 strikeouts in Yankee Town
Los Angeles de Anaheim - August 1, 2008

All the Yankee fans who act like Rivera’s all that just because the Yankees don’t have many saves to blow can bite me. K-Rod knows when it’s GO TIME!

ReggieBullits - August 1, 2008

Magic for PANTHER!!!
Andyman - August 1, 2008

I got the Brian Epstein thing
but did not feel the need to comment on it due to the Theo Epstein thing and the Sox series being so close run. There are lots of times when you choose to comment or not, and I just thought my comment wouldn’t be understood by most. Sorry Rev
highlandhalo - August 1, 2008
That is not Brian Epstein in the photo
it is literally just a dude at a party.
Rev Halofan - August 1, 2008
Just a dude?
Man … he was so close to nirvana .. emmm I mean the Beatles!
highlandhalo - August 1, 2008
Rev. I'm a big Beatles fan and I have searched for this photo to try and find out who the guy on the right is, do you know?
tanana40 - August 1, 2008
Michael Caine
eyespy - August 1, 2008
According to beatlesource.com ...
... the guy on the right is just some bloke named “Dennis”. ... and damn George Harrison looks cool in that pic.
highlandhalo - August 2, 2008
Also according to the same site ...

Unlike the Angels, I just can’t win.

That's ok Mr. Goat
I think your ok. Though you may want to see someone about that eye problem :)
vladtheimpaler - August 2, 2008
Angels 3-0 since the addition of Mark Teixeira
and U-Haul has yet to sniff a panther. (sunglasses) YEAAAAAAAAHHHH!
highlandhalo - August 1, 2008
Panther-sniffing today!
Teix was third in line for the Panther, says Fangraphs, right after the obvious guys: Ervin and K-Rod.
scareduck - August 1, 2008
BTW Scareduck, the same advertiser that is causing IE to crash here has something on your 6-4-2 blog.
TO thought you should know.
Zu Long - August 1, 2008
How did you figure out which advertiser it is?
Rev Halofan - August 1, 2008
I didn't.
TheOptimist just said that the same thing happens every time he tries to access scareduck’s site, too.
Zu Long - August 1, 2008
Then u did figure it out
vladtheimpaler - August 1, 2008
It was SITEMETER
We had so many visitors to the site tonight that it crashed.
Rev Halofan - August 1, 2008
Wasn't just me then
Thank god for firefox
highlandhalo - August 1, 2008
I can't get on 6-4-2, either. Is there something I can do?
....other than use Firefox?
wumbug - August 2, 2008
Definitely Santana

Chone's Chonies - August 1, 2008
Same thing happened to TheOptimist.
Still is.
Zu Long - August 1, 2008
IT IS NETWORK WIDE
some programming language used by an outside advertiser is on the system and causing IE to crash.
Thanks for your patience or switch to MAC !
Rev Halofan - August 1, 2008
Amen on the Mac thing...
Safari is smokin’ these days.

Manny chose #99 for his uniform number after making the equipment manager change it
three times today before he finally decided on #99.
44FAN - August 1, 2008
oh ffs
highlandhalo - August 1, 2008
it has to be Ervin tonight
8 innings of shutout ball against the Yankees?
that’s Panther worthy, especially given the fact that he had NO run support.
howiestheman - August 1, 2008
Firefox

Jason Giambi + Jerry Remy = Ron Jeremy

Rec'd
And you should make this a fanpost.
Zu Long - August 1, 2008
Panther
I went with K-Rod, kinda just because he has so few, and saving a 1-0 game against the heart of the Yankees’ lineup in NY is a big deal.
But I suppose 8 shutout innings > 1 shutout inning.
