Ervin must hold them, the Angel must hold them (and could sure stand to add on t their lead) and shiftyeyedgoat must explain what it takes to qualify as parental material.
Fernando Tatis, who had not hit a grand slam during his Major League career, homered twice with the bases loaded — both times off Chan Ho Park — in the third inning. Tatis, not only became the first Major League ballplayer to hit two grand slams in one inning, but he also set a new record with eight runs batted in during a single inning.
Hard shot up the 1B line, over the bag, headed towards the corner.
Would have put the tying run in scoring position easily. Kotch takes soem quick steps to his left and extends up and out and reaches just enough to snag the line drive.
I didn't know Dale Murphy was on the Rangers...
(joke)
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
This is losing its luster
hauldog - July 7, 2008
Hold’em!
Congrats to Ervin on his new Family!
Funke5ive - July 7, 2008
Saunders leads him in wins, but Santana sprung a rugrat sooner!
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
well we know what our Halos were up 2 after our faceplant to boston
Funke5ive - July 7, 2008
Yeah, while Spiezio was crashing into bushes (wrong kind) in Irvine...
Joey and Ervy were gettin’ busy! ;)
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
and Rivera
Funke5ive - July 7, 2008
oh yeah, forgot about that one...
must be something in the rat poison…
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
Yeah, while Spiezio was crashing into bushes (wrong kind) in Irvine...
funny
Funke5ive - July 7, 2008
wow...
ervin’s lost it … yikes
BigBangRobbDawgg - July 7, 2008

howiestheman - July 7, 2008
Welcome to Texas...
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008

howiestheman - July 7, 2008
NO MORE TALKING ABOUT GAME PANTHERS UNTIL THE LAST OUT
Jesus, people.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
hey, i was writing the same thing...
;)
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
Totally agree
hauldog - July 7, 2008
And...
THAT’S WHY, WE DO NOT DISCUSS PANTHERS OF THE GAME
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
im sorry.......but i refuse to believe that me talking about someone being a panther....
makes the Rangers hit like they’re capable of
norcaliangelsfan - July 7, 2008
Of course, not NorCal...
it’s all good. We still love you, man!
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
and i love you.........no really.....i do....alot.......
like in a very special way…....like the way…....only a man can love another man…....
norcaliangelsfan - July 7, 2008
gamecast has taken a dump on me........
and it probably serves me right
norcaliangelsfan - July 7, 2008
At least shifteyedgoat is good at finding hilarious baseball websites.
44FAN - July 7, 2008
looks like ervin just realized he was on the road
5 runs in one inning is so lame
UCIHalo - July 7, 2008
6 is even worse (see TEX's pitcher's line)
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
yea but is he an "All-Star"
UCIHalo - July 7, 2008
Eh.
It happens. But it especially happens in Texas.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
ouch...
you are bitter, arent’ you? ;)
And on top of being an all star, he’s a raging Catholic who had a kid out of wedlock. Crucify him.
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
Wow, them Texans sure do sound enthused...
shiftyeyedgoat - July 7, 2008
looks like the angels need to be reminded that that game is not over until the 9th inning
UCIHalo - July 7, 2008
at least k-rod can get a save now
WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008
Boo fantasy stat pumps...
I’d rather see a blowout every night than see Frankie one time.
shiftyeyedgoat - July 7, 2008
THERE is some positive thinking!
I like it!
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
The Rangers are known for ofense so its not bad at all
they wil lsuck it up in pitching
WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008
precisely.
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
What's with Kotchy hitting all these flys to centerfield, he's supposed to smack them down the baselines in to the corners.
44FAN - July 7, 2008
who is this nippit guy anyway and his 11 ERA
UCIHalo - July 7, 2008
uh...he threw a no hitter in AAA last week...
and prior to that, he got lit up in Anaheim in a 6-run 9th inning, that ended up just short and the Halos lost the game.
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
opening day?
that was a fun rally
howiestheman - July 7, 2008
hey look everyone!
it’s Cy Nippert!
howiestheman - July 7, 2008
The Diamondbacks dropped him
he is the only pitcher in 20 years to give up two grandslams in one innign
WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008
and we can't do jack against him
story of the year…
howiestheman - July 7, 2008
Last time he pitched for the dbacks(i was there)
No hitter threw 3 innigs and then boom 2 grams and only got 1 out
WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008
6 runs one inning in April (I think it was April)
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
I thought Chan Blow Park...
gave up two in one inning to the SAME PLAYER (Tatis)...correct me if I’m wrong. It certainly was not 20 years ago.
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
That is what I was thinking
hauldog - July 7, 2008
Maybe
Thats what i read on the scorecard after the game last year
WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008
Correct.
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/boxscore/04231999.shtml
shiftyeyedgoat - July 7, 2008
Well
The dbacks website screwed me over then
WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008
They are new to MLB, you know...
:)
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
iguess
WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008
B-Ref box
Box score
scareduck - July 7, 2008
can you provide the retrosheet boxscore too?
I am not sure we have enough box scores listed here showing that Park blows and we should not let him shut the Angels down.
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
well that was quick
lesserknown - July 7, 2008
way to bounce back guys
now im postive texas does not have the momentum
UCIHalo - July 7, 2008
Right. The game.

WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008

norcaliangelsfan - July 7, 2008

WillGoAngels27 - July 7, 2008

Zu Long - July 7, 2008

Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Can you request a Halos 9-spot...
next half inning?
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
I'll put it on the list.
But I’m pretty sure I subconsciously want Franky to get save 35 though.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
nice DP to attone, Izzy
howiestheman - July 7, 2008

TheTypingFiend - July 7, 2008
No, not a prophet...
but a GOD.
shiftyeyedgoat - July 7, 2008
Allah!
44FAN - July 7, 2008
That's what the tat is on Santana...
a Hudler rosary.
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
At least there's something we can agree on.
Besides rooting for the Angels.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
i dunno ... time for him to predict some more halo runs if thats the case
BigBangRobbDawgg - July 7, 2008
Didn't vladdy have a case of the runs last week?
Downing Rules - July 7, 2008
haha i prefer to leave that to mystery
BigBangRobbDawgg - July 7, 2008
yeah, he went through $10,000 in $100 bils wiping it up.
44FAN - July 7, 2008
time to put some runs on the board, Halos
howiestheman - July 7, 2008

howiestheman - July 7, 2008

Maybe Scotland is claimed as part of the Ranger's blackout area
It wouldn’t be too surprising with the way those rules seem to work.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
rangers must have gotten that new scottish player
Los Angeles de Anaheim - July 7, 2008

raven191 - July 7, 2008
Two great plays on D
And really nice job by Santana shutting it down in the 6th and 7th. That’s some big league pitching right there.
leftwing - July 7, 2008
okay, NOW we need to bean someone
howiestheman - July 7, 2008
They're leaving Nippert in there
I guess they’re hoping he can qualify for the win if they can get one.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
That
And given their bullpen, how likely is it they find another guy who can shut us down?
Zu Long - July 7, 2008

we need some mo’ runs, kids
howiestheman - July 7, 2008
mathis
nice BB… get him home !!
BigBangRobbDawgg - July 7, 2008
Holy guacamole
This outing ALONE has trimmed six runs off Nippert’s ERA.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
He payed us forward in April
He prevents us from getting completely embarrassed in our home opener. We let him pitch some scoreless innings in Texas later.

SCHalo - July 7, 2008
great play by mathis though
SCHalo - July 7, 2008
Nice hit by Mathis.
Props to Laird though. He got trucked by Mathis, got up and threw a bullet to third from his knees.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Okay, pitchers, this is your game now.
3-2-5 DP to end the inning.
scareduck - July 7, 2008

TheTypingFiend - July 7, 2008
Starting at Running Back
Jeff Mathis
Rev Halofan - July 7, 2008
Running back?
That was a linebacker tackle if I ever saw one.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
I'd say Fullback
leftwing - July 7, 2008
that was some Mike Alstott action there
SCHalo - July 7, 2008
That was two of the weirdest consecutive ABs I've seen
Hell of a hit by Mathis
leftwing - July 7, 2008
Mathis better watch it the rest of the series though.
He’s going to get trucked if the Texas guys get the chance.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
thinking the same
or a fastball behind the back
SCHalo - July 7, 2008
Yeah.
Add that to the beanings and things could return to fugly between the Halos and Rangers
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
Yep.
It’ll be just like old times.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008

And that’s all you missed.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Ahh, ok, thanks

Mike's leaving Santana in there
Red alert. I repeat, Red alert.
scareduck - July 7, 2008

Gameday’s wrong, the broadcast says it’s Shields.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
Mike is uhm... gone
Butcher put in Shieldsy…
shiftyeyedgoat - July 7, 2008
Just because you can't see him
doesn’t mean he’s not calling the game in from the clubhouse.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
He can do that/.?
I thought they were barred from communication?
shiftyeyedgoat - July 7, 2008
Never heard of that before
I thought it was just accepted practice.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
They are.
He was joking.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
I guess he wasn't joking.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
sick K # 2 for shields...

BigBangRobbDawgg - July 7, 2008
The inning's over already?
Wow, great job Scot

AWESOME!
norcaliangelsfan - July 7, 2008
Hey looks like we may get a save opp
hauldog - July 7, 2008
Indeed.
TheTypingFiend - July 7, 2008
Aha, it all makes sense now
This whole comeback thing is just to get some more save opportunities.
leftwing - July 7, 2008
Only our Angels could score 9
and somehow the closer will have a chance to record a save.
shiftyeyedgoat - July 7, 2008
See Florida/Colorado. July 4.
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
very nice vladdy
good heads up base running too
BigBangRobbDawgg - July 7, 2008

Payback is a bitch ain’t it?
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Damm Vlad is looking slow
Andyman - July 7, 2008
Nice Hustle
Vladdy
Funke5ive - July 7, 2008
vladdy is a big man
SCHalo - July 7, 2008
Why does Vlad look slower to 2nd then he does to 1B???
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
He ran past the back and had to go on a diagonal.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
But he looked slooooooow. And labored. Does he only have 90 fet at a time in him?
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
It would explain why he always fails at stretching hits.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
good news........
sea is up 3 on ChOKeland
norcaliangelsfan - July 7, 2008
dont think the pitchers want any part of hula dula now
BigBangRobbDawgg - July 7, 2008
That usually happens when you hit two homers in a game.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
i wish they’d replay the mathis hit
ANewFoundThrice - July 7, 2008
that'll be on espn top 10 or web gems tonight no worries
BigBangRobbDawgg - July 7, 2008
The Texas feed hasn't been doing anything else.
I turned the volume off, but I’m sure they complained about it. It was pretty unnecessary. Awesome. But unnecessary.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
I missed the next half inning but...
...I didn’t hear them complain about it at the time. They were busy gushing about the catcher’s throw to third.
leftwing - July 7, 2008
It was an awesome throw though.
I have to give the guy his props. Like I said, I don’t know what they said, but they showed it a lot.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
I would call it "insufficient".
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
But you have a disturbing and violent mind.

44FAN - July 7, 2008
Warner -Madrigal
When Reagins shit the bed
hauldog - July 7, 2008
Eh.
He wasn’t going anywhere in our system anyways. Much like, Gregg and Turnbow before him.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Nice of MLB.TV to come back on with 2 out in the top of the ninth
Hurray MLB! Make sure you flog some more statues on parade you wankers
highlandhalo - July 7, 2008
Fail one more time Juice.
Just to really rub it in that Juan should be playing and not you.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008

howiestheman - July 7, 2008
Crud.
I should have said something about not calling for his head anymore.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
See my post above on this very same technique of yours
as applied to GMJ. Too little, too late.
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
GMJ walks?
Huh. Better check for an alien invasion.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
Pod Gary?
Andyman - July 7, 2008

Oh well, no more runs.
Save #35 coming up!
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
What did I say about not talking about Panthers in-game?
Same thing applies to Frankie saves. It’s been a while since he’s given up a longball, and he’s facing the top of the Texas lineup.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
I say we vote Zu Long off the island
every game, he won’t shut up with the jinxing… must be an m’s fan
Los Angeles de Anaheim - July 7, 2008

Zu Long - July 7, 2008

howiestheman - July 7, 2008
Away one.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
It's okay.
Frankie knows me.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
see, this is why you DON'T talk about the end of the game before it happens
Los Angeles de Anaheim - July 7, 2008
and gameday.......
is again frozen
norcaliangelsfan - July 7, 2008
Nothing happening yet.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008

SCHalo - July 7, 2008
Kinsler rips it down the line for a double
44FAN - July 7, 2008
Who the hell is this Kinsler guy?
leftwing - July 7, 2008
Only one of Texas' top hitting prospects
He’s been up a couple years, but he’s really put it together this year.
scareduck - July 7, 2008
It would appear so
leftwing - July 7, 2008
the guy who should be starting at 2b in the All-Star game
instead of Pedroia
tanana40 - July 7, 2008
1 out
yeswecan - July 7, 2008

Andyman - July 7, 2008

One out fly to right Vlad catches it.
44FAN - July 7, 2008
one big out
nice play vladdy
SCHalo - July 7, 2008
Um
Why would you try to steal third down 3 runs in the 9th? Dumb.
leftwing - July 7, 2008
because the angels haven't thrown out a runner the last 27 tries and chances are they huck the ball into left field
UCIHalo - July 7, 2008
Ok, and then you're down by 2 and still need hits
No gain
leftwing - July 7, 2008
whats with the play by play
UCIHalo - July 7, 2008

UCIHalo - July 7, 2008
Nice change up for Frankie today...
K3YEROUT - July 7, 2008

leftwing - July 7, 2008

K3YEROUT - July 7, 2008

anaheim angels - July 7, 2008
Tie run to the plate
Andyman - July 7, 2008
But still time to bean Kinsler.
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
How can we bean him now?
He’s standing on third base.
highlandhalo - July 7, 2008
Try to pick him off.
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
At least MLB TV is working again :)
highlandhalo - July 7, 2008
Runners advance on "indifference?"
K3YEROUT - July 7, 2008
Now those steals make at least some sense
leftwing - July 7, 2008
The important one is at the plate.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
y didn't he throw that change up to Gameboy?
K3YEROUT - July 7, 2008
Yeah.
The second pitch was in the same place as the first.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Light her up!
Frankie makes history!!
SCHalo - July 7, 2008
LIGHT UP THE HALO!
KOTCHMAN WITH THE GLOVEWORK!

Funke5ive - July 7, 2008

Just another Frankie heart attack!
scareduck - July 7, 2008
Light up Zu Long
Los Angeles de Anaheim - July 7, 2008
Light er up
How good is Kotchman with the glove?
leftwing - July 7, 2008
i missed it so you will have to tell us
UCIHalo - July 7, 2008
He's quite good
leftwing - July 7, 2008
Hard shot up the 1B line, over the bag, headed towards the corner.
Would have put the tying run in scoring position easily. Kotch takes soem quick steps to his left and extends up and out and reaches just enough to snag the line drive.
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
Gold Glove!!
Andyman - July 7, 2008
proper response here is GOLDEN!
K3YEROUT - July 7, 2008
That is the correct answer.
Thanks for playing.
leftwing - July 7, 2008
BAM!
Just the kind of “save” to make the stat fans all pissy.
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
Huh?
scareduck - July 7, 2008
Certain segments hate the fact that you can get a save with only a 3-run lead.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
How many runs did the Rangers score in the 9th inning?
leftwing - July 7, 2008
Nice grab Kotch!
Your All-time Savesatthebreak leader is Francisco Rodriguez!
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Nice
hauldog - July 7, 2008
light it up
gotta give the Panther to Frankie for the new record.
yeswecan - July 7, 2008
Nah.
We’ll give it to him when he breaks the season mark.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
No they won't.
Stirrups - July 7, 2008
I think we will.
That’s big enough to deserve it. Unless Kotch has like a 4 homer game or something. Might get dicey then.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
I go with Hunter.
2 bombs in a game.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Light up Zu Long
Los Angeles de Anaheim - July 7, 2008
You keep those Zippos the hell away from me.
Zu Long - July 7, 2008

Zu Long - July 7, 2008
Can Lindsey Soto replace Phys

MH252525 - July 7, 2008
