when it’ll be the first year of the NEW Yankee Stadium. And as such, Fox, ESPN and everyone else will be falling all over themselves to report the various firsts and whatnot that have been accomplished in the NEW Stadium. I recommend earplugs.
Game 2 in Yankee Stadium though was awesome: Angels trailed the Yankees in the top of the 8th, 5-4, but GA homered to tie, Glaus homered to put the Halos ahead.
You COULD be talking about the fantastic season Joe's having.
You could be talking about how the Angels young duo has been great for them this season. But NO. Instead you talk about Yogi Berra, children’s funds and GEORGE STEINBRENNER. :(
I can’t stand Fox. Also, I knew all Buck would be talking about is how great the Yankees are. I live in NY, I get enough of that crap all day, every day
he’s been hitting since Mid-May, and has been at, or above .290 since early/mid-June, with similar all-around paces.
The Mets as a WHOLE were screwed in voting this year…it was like a backlash against the team for the collapse last year, and slow start this year (though they’ve come around in a BIG way recently). Before Wright replaced an injured Soriano, Wagner was their sole representative…so that the Cubs could take the Yanksox place in the National League as the vastly-overrepresented team. I mean, Carlos Fucking Marmol made the team as a reliever with an ERA over 4.00. That team is on the verge of BoSox level irritation.
Rev.......that you HOPE he getting you mean........
he could be getting busy like….....oh….......Ervin and Hokie Joe were during the off season…...

NoDakHalo - July 15, 2008

one home run to the shortest porch in baseball does not a good player make
Carl Johnson - July 15, 2008
He doesn't suck exactly.
Just not better than Juan.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
That cleared the wall by a mile
hauldog - July 15, 2008

Carl Johnson - July 15, 2008
You are right
an opposite field homer that has no problem getting over the wall is not impressive. Fuck off.
hauldog - July 15, 2008
touchy touchy
Holliday is no better than Juan, and far worse on the road. Seeing one home run and wanting him is like wanting GMJ after his 2006.
Carl Johnson - July 15, 2008
Nothing I wrote implies "I want him"

Mauer is SLOW.
TheOptimist - July 15, 2008

norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
Dude, Mathis and Napoli are WAY faster than that.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
Kotch might not be, though.
TheOptimist - July 15, 2008
Kotch isn't way faster.
But a footrace would be close.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
damn. took him out.
NoDakHalo - July 15, 2008
Why isn't someone PHing for Pedroia?
TheOptimist - July 15, 2008

NoDakHalo - July 15, 2008
I had to leave for a bit... So The Colonel got to pitch eh?

Zu Long - July 15, 2008

TheOptimist - July 15, 2008
Saunders pitched a scoreless inning. No K's.
Ervin gave up a jack to Holliday but notched two K’s.
cardinalwraith - July 15, 2008
Gave up a homer to Holliday.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008

NoDakHalo - July 15, 2008

Fan Since 1981 - July 15, 2008
Hey, look at that
Matt Holliday takes Ervin deep…it’s almost like he’s auditioning his outside-Coors power for us.
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008
He strikes out if Mathis is behind the plate.
Mauer dropped the foul tip.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
are you watching on delay or Tivo?
Red - July 15, 2008
Neither
I was just late getting to the game thread.
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008
I'm cool with that
highlandhalo - July 15, 2008
YOU SUCK DEREK.
TheOptimist - July 15, 2008

NoDakHalo - July 15, 2008
but an ERA of 4.50..........
norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
I missed the HR
Would it have left Angels Stadium, or was it a cheapo short-porch Yankee Stadium HR?
Fan Since 1981 - July 15, 2008
cheap
norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
Double off the wall probably.
Not bad for opposite field power. Santana struck him out on a foul tip that Mauer dropped though.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
They should let K-rud hit
Red - July 15, 2008
no more Youk.........
but now JD drew…......
norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
and no more pedroia.....
norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
But Varitek. >_<
TheOptimist - July 15, 2008

norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
Way to suck Duche.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
could they suck mariano's dick any harder?
everyone that sits next to him is making the greatest decision of their life apparently.
NoDakHalo - July 15, 2008
Well, at least the Duke may suck worse than Ervin did tonight.
cardinalwraith - July 15, 2008
So far yes.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
Dammit douchebag
Thanks for gifting home field to the NL
highlandhalo - July 15, 2008

Joe Buck thinks Steinbrenner should be in the Hall of Fame???
Red - July 15, 2008
*slurp-slurp-slurp*
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
The guy was banned from baseball at one point
RIGHTFULLY, I might add.
Apparently having a lot of money and spending it often is all it takes to get in the HoF according to Buck.
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008
Joe Buck will need some serious chapstick this evening...
with all the pole he’s been servicing.
Red - July 15, 2008
LOL!!! WHAT?!?!?!?
Joe Buck is the WORST announcer in MLB. He only got his job because of his daddy
KingF15h - July 15, 2008
hes just as bad at football too.......
norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
He is slightly better at football
I think he seems less irritating in football because Troy Aikman picks him up

2 runs isn't gonna be enough
once Young and Kinsler get to bat. Remember, the Rangers own the NL.
TheOptimist - July 15, 2008
Hamilton and Bradley not so much.
But maybe they don’t have the “TRUE RANGER POWA”
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
isnt Hammy a ranger still? he isnt doing squat
or did the yankees secretly sign him already?
norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
Base hit to center...
Nice jinx.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
lol he is def not a yankee........yet.......
norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
What u say?
TheOptimist - July 15, 2008
I'm not even watching the game
I can’t stand Fox. Also, I knew all Buck would be talking about is how great the Yankees are. I live in NY, I get enough of that crap all day, every day
KingF15h - July 15, 2008
When I lived in New Jersey for the last 3 years
I refused to go near anyone who even looked Guido, because I knew the 1st and 2nd words out of their mouths would be “Jeter” and “Baby.”
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008

Nice pop-up.

norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
Geez.
No wonder Jose Reyes steals so many bases.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
Speaking of which
why the hell is he not on the all-star team?
on pace for: .302/.367/.487, 18 homers, 18 triples, 40 doubles, 80 RBIs, 117 runs, and 55 stolen bases.
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008
Voters are retarded? I dunno.
He wasn’t hitting well till just recently I think though.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
I follow the Mets, and he's on my fantasy team
he’s been hitting since Mid-May, and has been at, or above .290 since early/mid-June, with similar all-around paces.
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008
But he doesn't allow hits!
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
He's actually really good at that
Don’t blame Marmol, he struck a guy out, then walked the bases loaded before being pulled…it’s not HIS fault that the next guy gave up the grand slam!
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008
Way to freeze, Grady.
TheOptimist - July 15, 2008

norcaliangelsfan - July 15, 2008
Not necessarily.
Depends on who hits in the winning run, and how they do it.
Zu Long - July 15, 2008
Guys
If the Yankee Stadium’s final All-Star Game MVP is a Boston Red Sox player, do I laugh at the Irony, or cry at the inevitable ESPN coverage?
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008
“there’s no crying in basball”
Funke5ive - July 15, 2008
Yeah there is.
Just imagine this:
Game 7 of the ALCS, bottom of the 9th, two outs, bases loaded, full count, Frankie on the mound, Angels up by three.
Bobby Crosby launches the ball over the left field fence for a game winning, pennant clinching grand slam.
Now tell me you wouldn’t cry.
Caseys Kiss of Death - July 15, 2008
