Blame of the Game: A long list from which to pick:
Saunders was flat, off his game, too rested and untested.
Speier choked it up with 2 outs when there were 6 outs to play with at only a 3-run deficit.
Aybar made a costly error, butt he did wreak his own havoc on our behalf on the basepaths.
Vlad grounded into what would prove to be a costly double play in the 1st inning - who knew then what we know now...
Torii, Quinlan, Kotchman, Mathis and most egregiously, Howie Kendrick all going hitless - Howie in the 2-hole...
I dunno, this one was terrible, weak and plays awful to the fan-base who have to answer to the ribbing of the San Fernando Mullets who are still living on Planet Garvey...
Blame of the Game: Vladimir Guerrero
Sure it was only a GIDP, but with this offense, one chance may be all you get and your failure in that situation gets magnified. And the name of that magnifying glass is BOTG.

Just Terrible
I blame Vlad for screwing up early… sent us on a downhill spiral… our top guy shouldn’t be hitting into DP’s with RISP
Los Angeles de Anaheim - June 27, 2008
fangraphs agrees it was Vlad
Los Angeles de Anaheim - June 27, 2008
vlad getting over an illness and at least he had a hit
UCIHalo - June 27, 2008
His “hit” was a lucky dribbler
Rev Halofan - June 27, 2008
For me it was Admiral Aybar

Planet Garvey

Howie
0 – 4
3 K’s
2 LOB’s
Worst offensive performance among the very bad.
No pitcher stands a chance when the offense fails to score at all.
Stirrups - June 27, 2008
For some reason
The guy just can’t hit in the two spot.
vladtheimpaler - June 27, 2008
aybar for me.....
1-0 and no SPEIER if he doesnt have the E-6
norcaliangelsfan - June 27, 2008
I think it was Vladimir Kendrick Saunders
the new Sybil of the Angels
ladybug - June 27, 2008
Howie has no buisness in the 2 spot.
he flat out sucks over the course of his career in the 2 spot. a .250 OBP and a .306 SLG. keep him batting 7th.
anaheim angels - June 27, 2008
and Soth
I woulda had 2 pts if he hadn’t stuck Day-OOO in there
bastard
ladybug - June 27, 2008
Speier pretty much let the game out of control by allowing three more runs.
But the offense was the worst.
44FAN - June 27, 2008
he wouldnt have even been in methinks.....
had aybar not let the lead go from 1-0 to 3-0
norcaliangelsfan - June 27, 2008
or if Saunders had made further in to the game, agreed.
44FAN - June 27, 2008
that error led to saunders giving up more pitches......if not for it.....no runs, and Joe probably goes to the 6th or further.
norcaliangelsfan - June 27, 2008
BOTG..........

Park'd
Worst game of the season. Hated everything about it. The lousy swings, the “Angels suck” chants coming through my shitty Ghetto-13 standard definition broadcast, and listening to Hud claime that a guy who hadn’t won a game as a starting pitcher in 2 damn years had “great stuff” when it was painfully obvious that we were hellbent on swinging at any and everything. The cherry on top was watching SPEIER give up ANOTHER HR when the game was close. I hope he’s thrown his last pitch as an Angel.
14 Ks tonight and at least half were on pitches a foot or farther out of the strike zone. That was a cringe-worthy team performance if ever I’ve seen one.
I don’t even know who to vote for.
ReggieBullits - June 27, 2008
My greatest fear
is that this is what our playoff offense is going to look like.
Stirrups - June 27, 2008
there will be no playoff with this kind of playing
ladybug - June 27, 2008
this is what the playoff offense has looked like for a while now
this team needs a power bat, and it’s not coming up through the minors fast enough (cough brandon wood)
Captain Awesome - June 27, 2008
Per usual
As Vlad goes, this team goes.
My greatest fear is that Saunders is going to fall apart sometime in August after he’s thrown 50 more innings then his career high. He looks tired now and it’s only July (close enough).
ReggieBullits - June 27, 2008
BOTG
All you doomsayers who are pissing and moaning right now and will be happier than hell tomorrow when we whip Brooklyn’s asses.
Other than that: Quinlan. 3 whiffs.
highlandhalo - June 27, 2008
It's wussy to blame Q, he was born that way.
44FAN - June 27, 2008
BOTG goes to the whole team
for making that hack Chan Ho Park look like Cy Freaking Young out there.
PieceOfAase - June 27, 2008
there it is...
no need for me to post, that was my exact line.
Downing Rules - June 28, 2008
This is a guy who gave up...
Bonds’ historic homeruns (2 of them in one game)...
2 grand slams in ONE INNING to the same player (Tatis)
A homerun to CC Sabathia (a tape-measure job, no less)
a karate chop to Tim Belcher in an exhibition game
and a guy who was in the minors last year. He has no business being on a major league mound.
Downing Rules - June 28, 2008
but they made him look like a seasoned vet'run
ladybug - June 28, 2008
either Q or Mathis
but im gonna say Mathis.
per Rex… Soth is using him because he likes his CERA. well i’m sorry, but 6 runs were scored with him behind the dish and he looked even worse at bat.
Jeff “Sarah” Mathis-Scioscia gets the blame.
howiestheman - June 27, 2008
Mathis can't make Saunders throw strikes
Or Speier not suck.
ReggieBullits - June 27, 2008
Yes, his "defense" was so good
Juan Pierre looked like Rickey Henderson out there…he also couldn’t block the ball when Pierre struck out…
In addition, Mathis had his usual offensive numbers.
The Angels have a power bat that has hit 11 homers in limited duty…his name is mike napoli.
oasisman - June 28, 2008
bring out the masher
NoDakHalo - June 28, 2008
Kendrick
then Aybar.
vladtheimpaler - June 27, 2008
Cheer up fellas
At least we don’t hang out here.
ReggieBullits - June 27, 2008
Al their members are named Andrew!
44FAN - June 27, 2008

ReggieBullits - June 27, 2008
Just got back from the game
and to me it seemed like the Admiral. Hokie Joe’s pitching was subpar, but he was battling through it (1-0) when an inning ending DP turned into 2nd and 3rd and one out. Both runner scored and with our offense sputtering, you felt like the game was over.
My second Dodgers-Angels game at Dodgers stadium, and the Dodger fans were pretty obnoxious tonight (yelling “Angels suck” as loudly as they could). I really don’t like that place!
Let’s get them tomorrow.
halofan91 - June 27, 2008
YOU'RE ALIVE!
ReggieBullits - June 27, 2008
I guess I have to thankful for something!
halofan91 - June 28, 2008
It's a Chavez tradition
yelling "Angels suck" as loudly as they could
Yeah, they do that pretty much anytime they have a lead on the Halos. They just get to do it so rarely.
red floyd - June 28, 2008
Saunders BOTG
Though Quinlan can be the co-BOTG with 0-for-3 performance with three Ks.
BBFan1 - June 27, 2008
Bad timing
I live in El Centro, way down there next to Mexicali. Hence, I don’t get to many Angel games. Well, a friend of my father in law’s had tickets for this game—so I did the 400 mile round trip to see my team. And my reward? One of the worst games I’ve seen them play this year. I think I’ll watch the next two games from my living room.
Riverrun - June 28, 2008
that sucks
ladybug - June 28, 2008
dogger fans chanted "angels suck?"
so original those guys.
SCHalo - June 28, 2008
At least they didn't yell BEAT LA...
Downing Rules - June 28, 2008
I still say it was Kendrick
not just for his abysmal performance in the box, but his weak fielding, poor throws (did anyone else see Juan Pierre nearly walk to first base on an infield single? Disgraceful…), and what appeared to be a lack of passion tonight.
There is nothing positive to take away from this game.
shiftyeyedgoat - June 28, 2008
Can't blame Aybar
He was the little bit of offense we had, and his error didnt matter much since we were unable to score even 1. The error didnt lead to all 6 runs. I got to blame Mickey Hatcher again. Wake these freakin bats up!
