7 1/3 innings of shutout ball…......after the last two starters got SHELLACKED….....joe was the STOPPAH…....and he deserves it…....but Kotch is def 1a.
but having just one panther award does give an overview of how amazing ou staff is – in a different season with a different Angel teams, the panthers would be distributed more evenly, so this ends up reminding us where the bread is buttered and just how special the ‘08 Halos are.
Kotchman for Panther. Campillo pitched well for them. Although I was suprised with the Kotchman swung at the pitch, that the ball actually got over the fence.
You gotta get panther when you throw that many innings of shutout ball. If he had a bigger lead or if the pen wasn’t so fresh, he probably would have stayed in the game longer as well. Not his fault the offense only spotted him 2 runs. No offensive player deserves panther when we can only put up 2 runs against Campillo in 8 innings. Torii looked straight up silly swinging at some of those change ups, missing by several feet on balls way out of the zone. It’s not like Campillo had anything else but a change, but we sure as hell didn’t seem to use that to our advantage.
gotta be joe.

Dondo inspired?
hauldog - June 15, 2008
You got it
Has a bit of Frankie in it also, with his after game jig.
Funke5ive - June 15, 2008
Kotchman is the man of the day!
44FAN - June 15, 2008
i like kotch
for panther today. first homer in a while.
b0rd3rline - June 15, 2008
I gotta stick with Joe.
Much as I
Zu Long - June 15, 2008
Should read:
like Kotch’s homer, Joe knew we’d need a shut out, so he threw one.
Zu Long - June 15, 2008
Joe Joe Joe
Shutout into the 8th against a strong hitting Braves team. Fangraphs gives Joe a sizeable WPA edge over Kotch (.465 vs .184)
Fan Since 1981 - June 15, 2008
and i would argue........
its harder to shut out a team for 22 outs…....then it is to put one ball over the wall.
norcaliangelsfan - June 15, 2008
Hokie Joe Fo Sho
AHaloInSF - June 15, 2008
Joe
Saunders. Kotch’s shot was a bit lucky.

Hokie Joe gets my vote
Nice to avoid the sweep, but this offense absolutely has to step it up.
Doctor Wu - June 15, 2008

Sorbo182 - June 15, 2008

How about Offense & Defense Panther titles

I tho9ught of the 2-Panther system
but having just one panther award does give an overview of how amazing ou staff is – in a different season with a different Angel teams, the panthers would be distributed more evenly, so this ends up reminding us where the bread is buttered and just how special the ‘08 Halos are.
Rev Halofan - June 15, 2008
Agree
This is a special/different team. We are rallying around the pitching/defense. It will be interesting to see how we finish.

2- Angels pitching (Joe and Krod etc.), Angels defense.
Kotch’s first homer since, well, I guess late april.
Saunders for the AL lead in W’s with 10
Krod keeps up his torrid save pace with # 28
