What a bummer of a game this was. Jeff Mathis showing his command of the plate with 3 strikeouts. Jon Garland being more or less a massacre tonight. Lastly, Howie getting the third call strike on a ball that was high and outside starting the double play which Macier while running to 2nd saw that it was a ball and pulled up and jogged into 2nd only to be thrown out completing the 4th grade kick ball double play. And yes he was tagged below the waist.
On a positive note, Figgy had a great night getting on base.
Blame of the Game: Jon Garland

that pic is just wrong....
but everything else you said was spot on….......Def on Jon for BOTG
norcaliangelsfan - June 13, 2008
another positive was the pen...........
nice work by Ollie and Speier….....3 1/3 innings no runs.
norcaliangelsfan - June 13, 2008
totally...
very nice work by the ‘pen.
i wished it would’ve mattered.
cupie - June 13, 2008
didn’t give up a run, but Oll’over gave up a big double to the left handed hitting McCann….did I miss something or is Ollover paid to get lefties out?
K3YEROUT - June 13, 2008
oliver is underrated
peolpe may think he stinks but he is a very, very solid setup/pre-setup man/ middle reliever. he’s versatile. if the angels were in dire need, he could start a game too.
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
yes
botg is garland, and get rid of that picture…. please
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
BOTG- Garland

holy crap with some of those hit guesses...........
norcaliangelsfan - June 13, 2008
acuda 18????? really
most of those people must have forgotten how the angels offense works during the off day.
norcaliangelsfan - June 13, 2008
Hows this for a trade scenario
nick green and juan rivera for KG Jr.
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
why do we need another outfielder/dh?
cupie - June 13, 2008
the point is getting rid of one
outfielder..(thought we are immediately replacing him) and getting a full time DH who can get a fresh start(for a few years at least in the American league
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
And can give the outfielders a day off every once in awhile
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
i'd like it a lot better if you threw in GMJr.
cupie - June 13, 2008
sure, why not?
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
sold
cupie - June 13, 2008
I'd like it a lot better...
...if you threw GMJr away
The Limey - June 13, 2008
nice!
cupie - June 14, 2008
I dont think GMJ is really that bad, but...
Off Topic: Does anyone know how to publish Fanposts posted on halos heaven onto another sb nation blog?
hunter48 - June 14, 2008
Don't think it's possible
scareduck - June 14, 2008
And
getting rid of the wrong one?
scareduck - June 14, 2008
NO...
Juan Rivera is as good or better than KG Jr at this point in each of their careers.
Why would we ever trade one of our pitching prospects?
K3YEROUT - June 14, 2008
thats because Junior is 9 years older than Juan
If you have the arguement that Rivera is just as good as Griffey is right now, even though Junior is almost 40, while Juan is 30… there’s something wrong there.
howiestheman - June 14, 2008
agreed i have seen the light plz no kgj

Poll Questions
how do you make your own poll on your fanposts?
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
attach poll
cupie - June 13, 2008
on microsoft excel or something?
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
Sure why not
only problem is thats a 3 for 1 deal, and we dont want that. the reds may take gmj and green though
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
Spaced out banana clip
all the way hype!
Funke5ive - June 13, 2008
well that was pretty crappy
Jon didnt look too good…
Mathis giving nobody any reason to support his place in the lineup…
Izzy giving up before he knew what happened…
bleh.
I’m willing to bet Santana will turn it around.
by the way, did anybody else noticed that Jorge Campillo will be making his return to Angels stadium on Sunday? Should be an interesting matchup between him and Vlad…
howiestheman - June 13, 2008
History?
What’s the deal?
ReggieBullits - June 13, 2008
didnt he hit vlad?
and pitches inside to him?
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
Oh yeah...
When he was with Seattle last year. He didn’t hit him but came up and in on him twice after being warned for brushing back Mathis. We’ve all seen what happens when you piss of the Big Daddy. I’m sure Campillo remembers too….
ReggieBullits - June 13, 2008
yeah he hit of uper deck shots in seatlle
hopefully he can do the same tommorrow or sunday
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
The game in question was at The Big A
After Campillo came up and in on Vlad twice, he homered on the next pitch. When he came up to bat after that, Campillo threw at his head again and Vlad dropped his bat and all 6’3” and 235 pounds started toward the mound. Dumbass probably had nightmares for days.
ReggieBullits - June 13, 2008
it was September 20, 2007
Campillo came way up and in on Vlad, so Vlad took it out to dead center on the next pitch.
Next time Vlad came up, Campillo did it again. Vlad dropped his bat and started walking toward him… benches cleard, Lackey pushed some people around, and Campillo got suspended for a few days.
go find it on MLB.com… you can see the highlights.
so yes, there is some history.
howiestheman - June 13, 2008
and that wasnt a direct reply to ReggieBullits,
but more of a general reply to everybody.
howiestheman - June 13, 2008
Classic Bad Vlad
Epic “I’ll show you” moment. It’s all coming back now. Just had to job the memory a bit.
This week, Saturday will be the real Big Bang Friday.
ReggieBullits - June 13, 2008
Epic is an understatement
it was one of the best “yeah, i’m a BAMF” moments ever, IMO
howiestheman - June 13, 2008
Not just inside
He went headhunting
red floyd - June 14, 2008
On Griffey?
Actually looking at his numbers, we may be better off getting another player: Ichiro. but would he leave seattle. would you give nick green, Bwood, and juan rivera to your division rival?
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
Griffey would just keep us where we're at and not have much impact
i know i sound like a hypocrite with what i said earlier… just ask zu long. but i have seen the light and now agree with him 200%.
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
heres another
as of b4 the game, angel catchers were batting only .204(ahem, Mathis and Napoli) Rod Barajas of toronto is batting .294 with five homers and 21 rbi’s in 42 games. he’s also a local guy, from ontarion. how bout we swap him and juan rivera?
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
napster has 10 homers though...........
norcaliangelsfan - June 13, 2008
Napoli could have Barajas' average with more power
if he ever got everyday ABs.
i hate effing platoons…
howiestheman - June 13, 2008
the reason the angels have been so good
is that we don’t jump to trade people who are having slumps. If we followed ur strategy, we would have traded Kendrick, Kotch, Figgins and probably several of our relievers already. Letting players play through their slumps and not jumping to make the instant fix trades is what differentiates us from the Yankees and the Red Sux.
BoulderBrian - June 13, 2008
very true good point
i will stick with these guys through the whole season. the halos…. the franchise of greatness…
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
ontario, i meant
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
Garland was in the middle of the plate all night
Couldn’t locate anything. He looked similar in his last start against Oakland but got away with it. Moneyball rules.
ReggieBullits - June 13, 2008
Hey
going .750 lifetime against an entire baseball club is not so bad, folks.
shiftyeyedgoat - June 13, 2008
How do I
Post my fanposts from halo heaven onto other sb nation blogs?
hunter48 - June 13, 2008
Juan Rivera
We can’t just easily dump an outfielder like Rivera without outright trying to DFA him. It isn’t like other teams are going to pony up a couple of prospects for a guy that hasn’t played much all season long [healthy or not].
On the other hand, a team like the New York Mets probably needs another outfielder with the injuries to Moises Alou and Ryan Church. Rivera would be a great fit and would probably play semi-regularly.
Who would the Mets trade in return? Do they have another Scott Kazmir in the farm system, they don’t know about?
BBFan1 - June 14, 2008
Iz it is
hit into dp and fielders choice. Took figgy out of the offense early.
2) whoever was responsible for not intenionally walking the left handed batter that was
2 for 2 and batting against garland (hint: #9 hitter) with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Also, probably the same person that didn’t ph for Mathis (Rivera, anyone), late in the game after kotch flew out. Not naming any names here.
vladtheimpaler - June 14, 2008
i dont know where else to put this...
it’s a quote from today’s LA Times.
“Instead the Angels’ lineup disappeared once again, making Braves Jo-Jo Reyes look like Johan Santana in a brilliant eight-inning effort in which he gave up one hit after the third inning.”
hahaha… looks like somebody else caught on to what we’ve been saying.
Cy Reyes pitched last night
howiestheman - June 14, 2008
It is Angels luck. We always get weak or so-so pitchers on their best career nights.
Can’t wait to see how their rookie, top prospect, does tonight in his major league debut.
44FAN - June 14, 2008
i'm still pissed about that called strike
on Howie!! WTF was that blue!? that inning had “walk off” written all over it.
