Blame of the Game: I am not even thinking straight enough to figure this one out...
NOMINATE SOMEONE IN THIS THREAD...
Blame of the game goes to...

Blame of the Game: Torii Hunter
With a leadoff double, Garret Anderson could have been moved over by any number of outcomes of your at-bat, Torii, but you popped to 2B. Garret never scored. Also, even though he was thrown out at the plate, you did allow that catchable Orlando Cabrera double over your head, looks like it was an off-nite in Chi-town, get some Newport rest and we will see you at the stadium Monday night!

torii or kotchman
gotta learn to hit the sac flies if you wanna play in the bigs
Carl Johnson - May 25, 2008
hunter wins the negative WPA battle
so its gotta be him
Carl Johnson - May 25, 2008
agreed
Jack Kerouac - May 25, 2008
Mickey Hatcher
Why can’t we hit the fucking ball lately?
KingF15h - May 25, 2008
cant hit the ball
because minor leaguers usually have trouble when facing big league pitching
BoulderBrian - May 25, 2008
your funny
KingF15h - May 25, 2008
Nothing funny about it
When Scioscia pencils in a 7-8-9 of Mathis-Wood-Rodriguez like he did yesterday, that’s living dangerously. As it was, Wood-Rivera-Rodriguez was bad enough. You can only expect so many “gimme” wins.
scareduck - May 25, 2008
I'll go with Torii.
He needs to start hitting with men on.
Zu Long - May 25, 2008
Who the hell cares about blaming one player
The Angels had 3 base runners
thats beyond pathetic
edhoo - May 25, 2008
Thats because we don't hit anymore
We have become a team of hackers that will swing at any garbage they throw at us
KingF15h - May 25, 2008
You mean
We weren’t already?
Clutch - May 25, 2008
Yeah tell that to Danks
100 in 5 innings. That sucks though right?
hauldog - May 26, 2008
BOTG: Lackey
Take one for the team – you pitched great, but gave up two home runs [one the obvious game-winner].
BBFan1 - May 25, 2008
thats nonsense
Carl Johnson - May 25, 2008
complete and utter nonsense!
K3YEROUT - May 25, 2008
BOTG: Napoli
3 ks
HaloDutch - May 25, 2008
+1
No one completely crapped the bed from what I can see.
No one with more than 1 LOB.
Can’t blame Lackey, only 3 runs in a CG, only walked one.
Sorry, but it has to be Nipples. Plus maybe you can fault him for a little bad pitch calling or something.
I still like Mike.
elricsi - May 25, 2008
Wood and S. Rodriguez! Man, Wood..Brown…and Rodriguez can’t hit worth a lick up here in the majors! It’s crazy frustrating!!!
gohalos912 - May 25, 2008
Brown is not here
Brown is back at Salt Lake
Rev Halofan - May 25, 2008
Yes, I know. I’m really pullin’ for these guys but…dang.
gohalos912 - May 25, 2008
TBH = BOTG
The Black Hole … at the bottom of the order…only problem is, the whole lineup is currently a BH!
K3YEROUT - May 25, 2008
The toronto turf.
melvintoast - May 25, 2008
I have to vote for Hunter
He isn’t playing at the level we need him to play at
KingF15h - May 25, 2008
The hell?
Hunter’s only one guy. He’s gonna run hot and cold. The Angels need to get Howie and Figgy back.
scareduck - May 25, 2008
turn the page
it’s one game. Tomorrow’s a bigger game. We lost this one, Quentin went yard, we’re banged up, live and learn from it. We win tomorrow.
Channelling the Soth.
highlandhalo - May 25, 2008
But Judy Garland is tossing tomorrow
So how are we possibly going to win?
Okay, he wins occasionally, but…
I’m not going in person tomorrow because every game I’ve gone to this season has accidentally been a Garland game, and each one has been a disheartening loss. I can’t take another Garland debacle. This isn’t necessarily his fault but just my luck. But I’ve had several Sopporros and a consiliatory glass of Chartreuse, so my thoughts are bit muddled… I’ll wait until Bubblegum or Simi is throwing, go to their game, and just be hung over for work the next day.
Seriously, I feel bad for Big John. That was some fine stuff right up until that one fatefull walk-off. I can’t possibly nominate him.
I just don’t know what to think about the fact that GMJ is the only reason we scored today… double-you-tee-eff-question-mark
Can I blame Wood? I just have no faith in the boy. I don’t know. Can I blame the Sox or the Townies that follow them?
Zoe Necrosis - May 25, 2008
I've been of the opposing persuasion.
I’m going to the game tomorrow (look out RF pavilion), and every game I’ve been to this season has been a striking Garland win where he pitches not only dominantly but with conviction. Insofar, he has been lights out as I’ve seen.
shiftyeyedgoat - May 25, 2008
blame of the game should be quentin
jtkelly86 - May 25, 2008
blame of the game is clearly...
Carlos Quentin
adirondackangelfan - May 25, 2008
i blame Ginobili
naw fer real i blame Quinlan
Funke5ive - May 25, 2008
If GA wasn't so lazy...
Lackey wouldn’t have given up those homers, and we would’ve won.
so clearly, GA = BOTG
howiestheman - May 25, 2008
gmj
he shouldn’t have hit that bomb. he should have just singled so GA could have walked to load the bases and t-hunts would have been all fired up for his at bat, leading to a grand slam. angels win 4-3.
NoDakHalo - May 25, 2008
BotG: Wood.
He doesn’t belong in the majors. His bat in the order is less potent than Q’s or Maicer’s, and that is really saying sometihng.
shiftyeyedgoat - May 25, 2008
wow
as pointed out in yesterday’s game, you are getting upset over a guy with less than 100 career ABs in the majors. have some freakin patience.
howiestheman - May 25, 2008
and stil a young player
by any stretch – he is the youngest player on the Salt Lake Bees for cryin-in-yer-beeyah
Rev Halofan - May 25, 2008
if youre old enough to be in the majors, youre old enough to be blamed
yes, we understand hes young and a raw product but no, i will not use that as an excuse. him failing with guys on base doesnt make me say “well shucks hes only 23”.
justin upton is 20 years old. nuff said.
ihearhowie2.0 - May 25, 2008
sorry to break this to you
but if you think that every young player in the bigs is going to be Justin Upton, then you’re constantly going to be pissed off.
some young players take some time to get going. once again, he has less than 100 effing ABs.
give it some time. he’s shown improvement over the last few games… he’s starting to recognize pitches better, and he’s sitting back a little bit more.
things could be changing very soon…
howiestheman - May 25, 2008
Well with this lineup there is not room for any on the job training.
hauldog - May 26, 2008
I COULD NOT AGREE MORE ihearhowie2.0
B Wood supposedly for the last two years or so, has been the next great Halo player in waiting, it is now time too put up or shut up, anyone remember Todd Greene?
halofolife - May 26, 2008
it is NOT time for him to put up
He is only here because of injuries. He needs 1.5 more seasons before it is all on the line.
How can you be a “halo for life” when you cannot even give a 23-year-old prospect standard development time?
Rev Halofan - May 26, 2008
agreed Rev
i expect to see him get a full season next year, but he’s not in an danger until 2010
howiestheman - May 26, 2008
thank you, rev
angels4adam - May 27, 2008
It doesn't matter how many ABs he has so far
He simply doesn’t belong in the Bigs yet.
That says nothing over whether he’ll ever break out, just that his bat is so pitifully impotent that it merits a plane ride back to SLC.
shiftyeyedgoat - May 26, 2008
No offense to B Wood
I didn’t mean to imply that Brandon is a bust, in my earlier posting, just that as of right now his struggles at the plate can’t be good for his confidence, and if he is only there for D, and D alone he is half a player right now. Sooner or later the lack of offense, both from Wood and Rodriguez is gonna hurt us.
halofolife - May 26, 2008
Miss me?
scottnak - May 26, 2008
Sean Rodriguez and Brandon Wood
Make every pitcher they face look like the reincarnation of Satchel Paige’s and Cy Young’s hybrid love child !!!
halofolife - May 26, 2008
BOTG = Hamstring/Toronto turf gods
We just can’t expect to win every game with so many players who don’t have the experience to hit in the majors. Until we get Figgy, Howie, and Aybar back, or unless Vlad the Impaler returns in full force, we are going to be running on great pitching and fumes.
