As usual....

Frankie did the cardiac kid thing.

Great pitching and defense...

conquerers all. Lets finish them off tomorrow. Great game boys, Saunders was a PANTHER.

great close win.

hopefully this creates one of those the-next-pitcher-outdoes-the-previous-pitcher things and we roll.

I remember that picture..

Oh gawd. I need another trip to Vegas!!

...I am waiting to see if HE recalls it...

I am so jonesing for Vegas but there is this thing called money and none of it growing on any trees in my yard...

barely

that was at Bellanutian's Palace, right? i thought so. those manhattans were good.

i see it is still all just a blur

except your spot-on recollection of you cocktail of choice that night!

just the last two

those were delicious. as for the previous two three handful, beats me...

HH roadie to vegas '08 -- how about august?

well....

the drive home stayed in Vegas.

Hey, I'm good..

Too many hours at work due to Spring Break, and hubby is out with Ministry right now.. I'm ready to go anytime... (weekdays are better now, since I have Tues and Wed off PERMANENTLY!)

Washburn versus Santana.

Washburn pushed back to the fourth game.

Silva is pitching tonight against Texas.

I meant to say, in the same slot as Santana.

saunders = panther

and, of course, frankie goes to hollywood

...and you go to vegas..

but that picture did not stay there ... it is HERE!

it always comes home with me

usually in the form of an empty wallet.

80 pitches?!

in 8 full? Wow. Way to be Colonel.

Aybar looked amazing turning all those DP's. The dude's got a cannon for an arm and had no business making that 2nd turn with Morneau (I think) barreling down on him. The bat will come and he definitely showed flashes of the brilliant defense we've been promised.

Great defensive win (even with 2 errors).

Through 3 games, Angels 12-Twins 4.

Wow. Saunders, Wow.

He's looked just pure brilliant for all of Spring and now this. Wondering how much that Spring mechanical adjustment really helped...

Nice!

Way to go Joe! Turing 2 is a beautiful thing! Nice D. Frankie Percival, little nervy but handled business!

i agree

the double play ground balls were huge for Joe the entire game, also they sure were beautiful

how is..

..letting only 1 runner get to even first base really that dramatic.. I realize it was a 1-run game, but everybody is acting like he had the bases loaded with no outs..

Definitely panther for the colonel!! Yeah Hokie Joe!!

Maybe

Because he walked the leadoff hitter on 4 pitches.

umm

walking the 9 hitter on 4 pitches and needing a scummy strike out from bad bunting to avoid having the tie run on 2nd with mauer and morneau coming up? ya, nothing to worry about at all.

okay..

..but the fact of the matter is he did get three straight outs after allowing the lead-off walk.. don't get me wrong, the 4 pitch walk made me wonder, but he got it done right after that, regardless of how (bad bunting), he did it and it wasn't THAT stressful..

Good fortune

Frankie got some good fortune with that out on the foul bunt.

because the best..

pitchers aren't ever blessed with the good fortune of a batter getting themselves out..

Of course they do

Nobody is arguing about whether Frankie is a good closer. But he was OFF last night. He walked the first guy on FOUR pitches and he got an EASY out on the 2nd batter. Don't read more into what is being written.

Rev or anyone...

please check if we have the fewest CG's thrown by a starting pitching staff the last 5 years. No way Joe shouldn't finish a game like that.

I agree Saunders should have had the opportunity to get a complete game under his belt...

however... it was also important to get K-Rod some action, can you remember the last time he pitched?

CG

Saunders should have at least gotten a shot at a cg, if he puts a runner on, then pull him. Instead, they put Frankie in who walks the leadoff hitter, then has the second batter out on a foul bunt only and then induces a double play.

I realize that Frankie needs some work but pulling Saunders after 80 pitches was ridiculous.

early in the season?

maybe it's a protective move to save his arm for the long haul (especially the immediate long haul of Lackey and Escobar out)?

good point

i didn't even consider that

With that in mind-

Good call Mike.

Not to mention that Saunders is the guy on this staff who has traditionally had problems with his arm wearing out.

Angel's CG's in the Mike Scioscia Era

Here is a compilation of CG's for each year Scioscia has been the Manager
2007 5 tied for 5th in the AL
2006 5 tied for 4th in the AL
2005 7 tied for 5th in the AL
2004 2 13th in the AL
2003 5 tied for 9th in the AL
2002 7 tied for 10th in the AL
2001 6 9th in the AL
2000 5 tied for 11th in the AL

I also noticed that the Rangers had 0 complete games last year

Go here Baseball-Reference.com website
to see the stats for any season by league, or any players stats

thank you billhune

didn't know we had that many, wow!!!!

Wow.

I was not expecting Saunders to top Garland. I guess that's what a guaranteed spot will do for your confidence.

guranteed for the short term...

he has something to prove, still

Why didn't anyone tell me

Kendrick could play d.
All I ever heard was offense.
(light sarcasm, no need to reply)

Hokie Joe

was money - Panther well deserved

Bam

you still have "spring games" in the title of the spreadsheet.

*headslap*

dang. Not off to a good start this year. Heh.
