Garland's K/9 has been under 5 for four straight seasons (2004-2007) and his career GB/FB ratio is only 1.23. He's always going to be a risk for having a lousy game (like last August against the M's when he got knocked around for 10 hits and 10 runs in only 2.2 innings).
He's had good velocity on his fastball (90.1 mph) and slider (83.3 mph) so far this year. It's too bad he doesn't have a "K" pitch (i.e. a forkball or a 12-to-6 curve).
