VLADDY!!!
2-run bomb. Halos up 3-2
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Nice!
Good to see someone else is here! ;)
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Pretty scary for me to be posting updates given how slow Gameday is...
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
:)
I am "watching" gameday, too. I think it is already the 9th inning in real life while Gameday is still in the 4th (joke).
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Torii Hunter
also goes yard. 4-2 good guys.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Darren O'Day
in to pitch the 5th for the Halos.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Not a good start
O'Day gives up a single, WP to 2nd, and next batter reaches 1st on e-4
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Darren O'K will get out of it...
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Maybe Not
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
uh oh.
c'mon i'm watchin game-sloth, so help me out here.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Hud was just commenting earlier
how Hunter dropped below 500 avg and we should cut him (joking, of course).
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
I must say the new pop up feature and....
...no longer needing to refresh are wonderful improvements.
Jack Kerouac - March 18, 2008
very cool, i agree.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
definitely cool
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
score tied, 4-4..
b0rd3rline - March 18, 2008
HK with an error. Sac fly and RBI double
4 - 4...O'K blows his first lead of spring.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
O'day didn't get out of it
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Oh, they hooked him?
I see 3 outs.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
no, I meant he didn't get out of the jam
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
ah.
He's in line for the victory now...smart kid.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
he got out of the inning but not unscathed
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
I comprehenday amigo.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
I wonder if HK's error could have been
a double-play ball?
If so, it would have been an easy inning for O'K.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
good point, can't tell from gameday
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
that is a problem now isn't it?
;)
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Vlad batting
with one out, Figgins on 3rd
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Sac Fly
5-4 Halos
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Nice!
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
off topic
Do we know if all of SB Nation is moving to this updated format?
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
My guess would be "eventually."
But I think they have to do it one site at a time.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
that's correct...
...i know the cardinals and cubs have moved. they are moving the most active sites first.
Jack Kerouac - March 18, 2008
All the baseball blogs first
one site every two days, they work out more an more bugs each time, then they will probably do NFL and College Football blogs, eventually the whole network, yeah.
Rev Halofan - March 18, 2008
Jackflash are you listening to audio?
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
I would certainly think so...
he's a good 5 mins ahead of us!
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Yes
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
We're still looking at Figgy's mug shot
on Gameday as "coming up next."
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
you get mug shots?
I am so ghetto...
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
If you are looking here:
LINK -to- GAMEDAY
You get them...
I doubt there is a text version of Gameday Box, unless you are looking at the "basic" box score. Try the link I listed above and you will be "movin' on up to the Eastside."
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
looks like
hunter's having a good outing.
halobaseball - March 18, 2008
BTW
GA is playing today, so I guess his knee isn't too badly injured.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
and he went 1st to 3rd..
one a single to right, so he's still running as well..
b0rd3rline - March 18, 2008
This is really good news.
I think the management was siding with caution in keeping him out those couple of games.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
And scores
on a wild pitch
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Torii Hunter hits a bloop single..
..to right, GA moves 1st to 3rd.. runners on the corners..
pitching change in progress..
b0rd3rline - March 18, 2008
wild pitch, GA scores
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Hey, you cheater...
you must be listening to the radio...coz gameday is still stuck on Figgins AB.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Yessir, normally blocked at work but somehow it started to work using older media player
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Your IT Big Brothers...

Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
shhh! They might hear you
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
6 - 4 going to top of 6th
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Solid.
Here I thought my estimate of 3 runs through 5 was going to be excessive.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Gameday has almost caught up
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Saunders threw 73 pitches against AAA team
missed rest of Hud's update, anyone else catch it?
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Another error on Howie...
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
We need to cut that Kendrick kid...
he's "Figgins" horrible. ;)
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
HA!
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Joking aside...
that's his fifth error in spring; not sure how many games that he has played in, but there have been 19 games possible he could have played in. So even if he has played in all of them, that is not a very good error rate. That projects out to 43 errors over a full season. AK had 19 in his 155-game Y2k campaign, his first full season.
Granted, it is SPRING, but, I just wished to point out something negative that is coming to the surface at this exact moment in time.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
The comment on the audio was that both errors today were of the routine nature
Defnitely not good, seems like a lack of focus. Hopefully, he picks it up. Only perfect practice makes perfect...
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
I heard that Aybar made an error like that this past weekend...
and that is one of the big knocks on him...he can make the spectacular play, but can also botch the easy ones.
Let's hope they can work out these kinks NOW rather than during a heated battle with the Indians, Tigers, Red Sox or Yanks, when it might come back to haunt them.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Actually
they were just saying that Aybar has no errors this spring. Hud & Terry could be wrong, though.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
My friend could be wrong...
he is known to be senile.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
ERRORS
That is what Spring is for ... they are all just getting warmed up, retaining muscle memory and sharpening reflexes. i hope i hope i hope...
Rev Halofan - March 18, 2008
No one hurt, inning over
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
I'm looking at Gameday...
O'Day threw 7 pitches, 6 strikes. Man, that kid really can throw some strikes. Wonder what the count is after 2 innings...I am still awaiting Gameday to catch up.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Oliver in now
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Former Angel
Derrick Turnbow in to pitch the bottom of the 7th
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Nice...all I can think about now...
is that nasty shot of him someone posted on HH about a week ago.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
someone gimme the pxp....what's happening right now??? How many outs, men on base, etc....btw....hello to all my halo bros!
Halofanatic - March 18, 2008
Bueller quote...
Rooney: "What's the score?"
Pizza Cook: "Nuthin-nuthin."
Rooney: "Who's winning?"
Pizza Cook: "THE BEARS!"
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
2 outs
Morales on 1st after drawing a walk. I forget who's on 2nd. Kotchman batting...hits a 3-run dinger, his 1st of the spring
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Terry & Hud
commenting that Juan Rivera is dealing with some shoulder tendinitis.
By the way, score is now 9-4 us.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Nate Haynes
down on strikes to end the inning.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
woohoo!!!
i can't wait to see this lineup take off on opposing teams :) I'm feeling pretty good about this lineup.
Halofanatic - March 18, 2008
And Now...
Juan Rivera in to play 1B.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Oliver
does a fine job, striking out two while giving up a double; runner was stranded at 2nd.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Stellar.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Eric Gagne
in to pitch for the Brewers. A couple of vials and a syringe pop out of Gagne's pocket when he covers 1B on a ground ball.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Correct R - H at end of 5
6 and 6. This post is for you, scottnak
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
and
it doesn't look like there will be a save unless the Brew Crew makes a big comeback.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
They only need to get 2 runs...
then it will be a save situation...unless the halos did more damage in the bottom half of the 8th?
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
score is now
11-4, after a Terry Evans RBI single
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Hooters!
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Dick gets a hit
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Brandon Wood
gets his 1st single of the spring. Using a slightly lighter bat so he can wait a bit longer on pitches. Rivera goes 1st to 3rd after drawing a walk.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
sounds like he hit it to the wall
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Nice to see him getting some hits...
a good confidence boost here near the end of ST.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
WP
scores Rivera, Wood to 2nd
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Gagne picking up
right where he left off with Boston. Nice signing there, Milwaukee.
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
he is gonna get cut...
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
That would be funny
but no way they do that after signing him for $10 million
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Surprised the Red Sox didn't re-sign him...
he was key to that World Series run (joke). Gagne now has something he never earned with the Dodgers...a ring.
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
doesn't that suck?
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Yeah...it sucks he (and subsequently the Red Sox) got a ring.
I'm not bitter or anything! ;)
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Aybar gets a base knock
runners on 1st & 2nd
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Is it just my imagination...
or is Aybar's bat coming to life here this spring?
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Over .300
I guess that's a yes
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
SS ST comparison
LINK -to- MLB.com's Angels SS comparison
Downing Rules - March 18, 2008
Jason Bulger
in to pitch the 9th
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
2 outs
both by strikeout (looking), sandwiched around a walk
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
Light Up the Halo
flyout to shallow right ends the game
jjackflash - March 18, 2008
light up the cactus!
SoCalWine - March 18, 2008
Bulge Battles Through Brew
light up that cactus, already.
