Pitcher Chris Bootcheck was the highlight of last Spring Training. From out of nowhere, he captured the final spot in the pen and held his own all season. Now nursing a strain to his oblique, Bootcheck will be absent early in the season, opening a spot for either Richard Thompson or Darren O'Day.
The LA TIMES reports that O'Day has the inside track, including the always indicative thumbs up from manager Mike Scioscia.
Morrissey and Darren O'Day - perhaps the sons of Ireland all share the same barber. Hope to see you on Opening Day, Darren!
